In The Maelstrom Of Feelings

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can we come from knowledge to feelings at the convention?

Answer: When people get together, they lose knowledge and instantly tune into feelings because the very subject of conversations, the inclusion into each other, and mutual dependence that is manifested immediately push a person to seek mutual feelings, whether he wants this or not. If he speaks with some clichés or excerpts from various articles that he remembers, it means that he is not in connection with the others.

He should speak from himself, regardless of the words. He should express his feelings concerning mutual connection and what is manifested in it.

You Cannot Avoid The Obstacles

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Why is it that even now, when the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed, that there is a danger that the externality will control the internality?

Answer: Everything is revealed on the background of the growing ego and this is also where the danger is; how will we end the correction: in order to receive or in order to bestow? Which path will we follow, the path of the Torah or the path of suffering? It is because the positive force grows opposite the negative one.

So there aren’t fewer problems with the revelation of the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is because we are less able to hear anything and because there is an increasing hardening of the heart. It isn’t by chance that the last blows before the exodus from Egypt were so hard.

Question: But is it possible to distort the idea itself in our times?

Answer: A person wants to contradict things automatically and unless he feels that, on the one hand, he has no choice and, on the other hand, he can save himself by this method, he will not accept it. So he has to be approached very gently and the truth has to be wrapped in such wrappings that will not evoke any resistance in people.

It isn’t a matter of “inverted propaganda,” but human nature, the ego that is a “helpmate.” The Creator is there as the “Pharaoh” who doesn’t want to hear anything and causes different interruptions so that you will correct yourself that way, learn how to rise, and understand the wisdom of Kabbalah more deeply in order to overcome the obstacles more powerfully and discover the truth until you begin to teach others. It is all part of the process of correction. It cannot be a short and easy path.

No matter how many more enemies and adversaries there will be, we need to understand that it is a result of the system. How will the heart of Pharaoh be revealed? Only by tenacity and cruelty. It may seem that one or two blows are enough; why do we need all the plagues of Egypt all the way to the “death of the firstborn?” But Pharaoh doesn’t give in; even the escape is in the dark.

So we have to be gentle and explain again and again and help people face their ego. No matter what they may say about us, there is no other way. Just as we cannot choose the character of our children, we have to take care of them lovingly, no matter what. The child may go wild and not listen, he may be too naughty, but what can you do? After all, it is my child, he was born, and I have an internal connection with him that cannot be broken.

The Wave Of Crisis From China

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Larry Lang, professor of finance at the Chinese University of Hong Kong): “Larry Lang was reported by The Epoch Times as saying that China’s economy is on the ‘brink of bankruptcy’ and that ‘every province is a Greece.’ …

“According to the Chinese government website (, the audit found 10.7 trillion yuan of local government debt at the end of 2010, a result of easy loans made possible by the government’s 2008-2009 stimulus injection. …

“The audit discovered that 1033 such companies have problems such as false-financing, the registered capital being unpaid-in, illegal provision of funds and the withdrawing of them by local governments and departments, involving a sum of 244.15 billion yuan,” the audit said in its findings. …

“In a controversial series of claims, Lang said that overall debt in China was as much as 36 trillion yuan (US$5.68 trillion), official inflation figures of 6.2% were as high as 16%, domestic consumption represented only 30% of economic activity and that there was ‘serious excess capacity.’ He added that despite government headline figures of 9% growth in GDP, production had actually shrunk in China.

“‘Once the economic tsunami starts, the regime will lose credibility, and China will become the poorest country in the world,’ Lang concluded in the lecture.”

My Comment: Everything is just unfolding, but since the script is already open, it makes no sense to talk about it. We are facing either a new understanding and correction of people and social relations or a world war, after which we will repeat evolution and nonetheless come to correction.

From The Teacher To The Creator

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Do a lot of people complain about your unbearable character? Are you always like this, with everyone and in everything?

Answer: I’ll try to “explain myself.” Kabbalah formulates our task for existence in this world as “Efforts and findings” (Igati ve Matsati). Meaning, the application of the correct efforts leads to a finding, to one’s revelation of the Creator’s benevolence (Metsiyat hen be’eyney HaShem), to reveal the love of the Creator. This revelation (of the currently concealed relationship of the Creator towards each one) happens to the extent of qualitative comparison (similarity of qualities, Ishtavut aTsura).

So, there are two types of relationships of the teacher towards the student:

  • The teacher always acts toward the student softly, gives the student time to develop, not indicating the mistakes.
  • The teacher acts towards the student in an instructing way, as the Creator. However, the instruction of the Creator is concealed, while a teacher demonstrates it in order to direct the student based on the example of the relationship between them onto the correct understanding of the relationship between the student and the Creator. This helps the student to more quickly understand what it means to find benevolence, how to draw attention from the relationship towards the teacher to address the Creator, to attain the “finding.”

Barbarism In The Modern World

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: When you say that man behaves as a barbarian, can you give an example so that it’ll be clear where barbarism is apparent between us?

Answer: Barbarism is apparent in the fact that we are using our egoism almost without any constraint. We love to brag about unimportant things such as wealth, power, and fame. A person’s cultural level, his internal wealth, his spiritual goal is not important to us, all of that has completely died out.

Culture has been dead for half a century ago and even more; it was buried by the two world wars. And we simply boast of our business, money, power, and fame. We think that this is a good example for the new generation growing up, that the man who is worthy of respect is one who can subjugate others to his control. After all, fame is also a kind of subjugation, just like power and money.

We have raised these three “values” into the ranks of absolute values and man lives for the sake of them. It turns out that the goal of life is in the obtainment of these three goals, if they can even be called a word such as “goal” at all.

Relating To My Other Half

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How should I see my other half to realize the integral principle in our relationship?

Answer: Both mutually rise above our egoism in each other, until you find such a point of tangency where you are one common whole. This is called “Adam” from whom through the means of splitting, man and woman occurred. In general, the “biblical” Adam is an integral structure, a “unisex” system. There is no woman and no man in it. Subsequently, this system has broken apart into two parts in order to reveal the complete set of their opposite qualities in the most maximum form.

This maximum opposition is what is being revealed today, since we can no longer be together in any kind of relationships. This can be seen in the flourishing of various kinds of unusual, unnatural types of sex, from the impossibility of being able to exist together, and from the ease and corruptness of connections, and so on. This means that we have arrived at a state where we have to begin to restore the structure of Adam from its complete opposition.

This is a very good state, similar to how a child is given a completely disassembled building block set or a puzzle so that he can assemble it together. It’s from this assembly that we’ll attain ourselves, nature, the Creator, and it’ll be clearer to us who we are and where we exist. In the end, we’ll attain the internal part of the world, its concealed force, current, plan, and we’ll be able to reveal for ourselves a completely different level of the universe, eternity, and perfection. All of this is possible. This is evidenced by science today.

Two For Creating A Family?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: All seven billion people and all the levels of nature (still, vegetative, and animate) need to enter the common integral system. But the family provides for a form of relationship where there is a man and a woman, and then they have children. What is the special nature of this relationship?  Why is it that precisely two people participate in creation of a family?

Answer: This stems from our inner roots because there are two opposing forces in the world: the force of bestowal and the force of reception. Moreover, both reception and bestowal have within them the opposite properties: The property of reception contains the property of bestowal, and the property of bestowal has the property of reception, and this is why they are able to mutually influence each other and combine together into various shades of interactions.

For this reason, in our world there is division into male and female, the average is not an option. Of course, in nature we can observe all kinds of transitions in various primitive animals: frogs, say, can change their gender depending on the developmental needs of their community.

But in principle, the more advanced the nature, the greater the divide between those who must connect as a couple for procreation, since the collection of properties in male and female individuals needs to be sufficiently opposite. After all, in combination with each other they should provide the opportunity for combinatorics to develop adequate diversity, species richness, properties, qualities, and individuals who would be able, through their continuing mutual interactions in all kinds of cross-transactions, to develop in such a way as to reveal all the properties of nature. This is a cardinal tenet of nature. The connections between the sexes, and even between the species, are directed precisely towards that.

The fact that we need to feed ourselves inanimate, vegetative, and animal food pertains to this as well. Moreover, we consume “human food” too, only not in form of a meal as such, but in form of energy, thoughts, and mutual inclusions, that is, in the form of us serving each other.

In this manner, the interaction doesn’t happen simply between the sexes, but is realized constantly and continuously between all parts of nature, on all of its levels.

Therefore it’s not enough to reduce everything to the fact that the male and female unite and produce offspring. In reality, nature includes in itself the integral interconnection of all levels: the still, vegetative, animate, and the human levels of desires and properties.
