Our Faces Are As Different As Our Desires

каббалист Михаэль Лайтман A question I received: When I read The Zohar, can I convey my impression to others who are reading together with me?

My Answer: It is not an accident that we were created different. The Creator could have made us all the same and produced the same person over and over again. However, instead He created seven billion different people because otherwise it would be impossible to reach the state where we all unite 100% with all our heart and soul at the End of Correction, while maintaining our individuality. The differences allow us to reveal the gap between us in a deeper way. Our unification builds a bridge over those gaps and thereby reveals additional Light.

Although you and I unite with each other, become corrected, and filled with the Light, you will still sense it differently than I. This variance of sensations gives us additional desires to equalize on a higher degree and in a different dimension. This is how we advance.

The Mixed Multitude Is The Reason For The Exile

The Zohar, Chapter “Ki Tissa (When You Take),” Item 56: The sinners that have created that nation on the outside – the mixed multitude (Erev Rav), and the holy nation attached to it; they have sinned in the mother –  Malchut, as it is written: “Rise, make for us gods.”

The mixed multitude (Erev Rav) are those who use bestowal in order to receive. On the one hand, they carry out the Creator’s will – they bestow, which is why they are called “fearful of the Creator.” However, they bestow for their own benefit, which is why they are also called “the Pharaoh’s agents.” Erev Rav are people that observe the commandments and fulfill all of the Creator’s demands, but only for their own well being in this world and in the world to come.

Surely a god, to make them another god (that is understood by egoism) instead of Malchut, who is called “God” (Elokim). Instead of this glory of Israel, meaning Malchut, who was over them like a mother over the sons.

“Israel” are people who have an intention that is “straight to the Creator” (Yashar Kel). The whole purpose of their work is for the Creator, and not for themselves. The Erev Rav are those who want to and are prepared to work; they have the strength to complete what is required of them with complete devotion, but in return they want money, respect and power. They are unable to work without these things, and they are the reason for all the exiles. The problem with the Erev Rav is that they do the same actions as Israel, talk about the same things, use the same Upper Force, share the same desire to enjoy, but for their own benefit. They say, “We are prepared to fulfill all of the Torah’s commandments, but only if it benefits us.”

Entering Spirituality Through A Thin Bottleneck

feed In order to lead me into the spiritual world, the authors of the The Zohar and other Kabbalists had to build a multi-level system. It is an entrance that enables me to enter spirituality layer by layer while adapting to each level, freeing myself from certain stereotypes and habits, and gaining a new outlook. It’s as if I have to pass through a thin bottleneck and take on its form; otherwise I won’t be able to get in.

Suffering pushes me from behind, while the importance of the spiritual goal lures me from ahead. That is how I make my way in, continuously assuming a form that is more appropriate for the new world that I have to reveal.

Therefore, we are yet to reveal many more purifying filters inside the text of The Zohar. They will force us to become square, or round, or triangular, and to take on all sorts of forms and shapes until we go through all of them and enter inside. We will encounter them on all levels of our mind and feeling, as well as our outlook and understanding. We are always going through different kinds of matrixes and every new filter does something new to us until we are finally born into the spiritual world. This is how spiritual birth occurs.

This is why we encounter so many confusing and repulsive things in the text. It is impossible to go through this material using regular study methods and the usual mental efforts. We will be able to see why everything occurred only if the Upper Light influences us and changes us.

There will be obstacles standing before us that will simply vanish into thin air. It’s as if there is a boundary in front of you (a Machsom), and then suddenly, it is gone! There was some sort of image or opening, and you suddenly go through it, taking on its form.

This is how it works. Therefore, the problems cannot be solved using logic and reason, since we don’t understand a word of this text correctly.

The Most Unique Event In History Is Just A Few Days Away

zohar100x65_preview There are just a few day left until the The Zohar Convention 2010 but every person still has time to register and come to the Convention. This will be a completely unique event because it is the first time that so many people are meeting in order to study The Book of Zohar together, for the sake of drawing upon them the influence of the Correcting Light.

Nothing like this has ever occurred in all of history. The Zohar was only studied by small groups of people, in secret, hiding from everyone so no one would find out – not even their closest relatives. We have to understand what an exceptional gift we have merited to receive. Every person who has a chance to participate in this event is extremely lucky because it holds a tremendous reward.
