Freedom Is in Another World

Freedom Is in Another WorldA question I received: What prevents women today from being free, growing creatively, and enjoying life? What is making them suffer, run around like crazy doing errands, without a break, and always compare themselves to others? Women have always fulfilled whatever society has demanded of them, whether in their family, society or country. In primitive society, a woman took care of the home and gave birth; in the industrial society, she took part in production, and in times of war, when human flesh was needed, she was praised as a mother-heroine. Simone de Beauvoir wrote, “the liberation of a woman is not a matter of the collective masses but a process of individual development.”

My Answer: Our time is different because now both individual and collective evolution have been exhausted, and we haven’t yet reached the conclusion we need to reach: that the only path of progress left is the one above our nature, and into another world.

What Do You Do with an Unsupportive Wife?

What Do You Do with an Unsupportive Wife?A question I received: What should I do if my wife is completely against Kabbalah and constantly blames all of our disagreements on Kabbalah? I’m totally dedicated to Kabbalah and I only want spirituality. I’m actually considering leaving my family, even though it’ll cause me and my children pain. Why is the Creator arranging things like this? Should I leave her and start a new family? I was into mysticism when I first met her, but that’s all behind me now and I’m only involved in Kabbalah.

My Answer: I would talk to her, just like I did with my wife thirty-five years ago. I’d tell her that I’ll always search for my purpose in life, and for life’s purpose in general, because I’m empty without it. I’m not obliging her to do anything, but this is who I am and I cannot change myself. I can leave or I can stay – you decide. The answer will either be positive or yet another argument, but things cannot stay like this anymore.

Another question I received: Sometimes my wife and I argue. But I understand that this is a result of a growing ego. This makes me suffer, but I justify the Creator and keep going. What do I do with my wife, who sees this as something very different, as something personal? My Answer: In addition to justifying the Creator, justify your wife.

Woman – the Creator’s Only Creation

Woman - the Creator\'s Only CreationA question I received: Why do you “feminize” desires? Why do you say Ratzonot Egoistiyot (which is the feminine form of saying “egoistic desires” in Hebrew), when everyone knows that “desire” (Ratzon) in Hebrew is masculine?

My Answer: Even though desire (Ratzon) is grammatically masculine, it is feminine in function and actualization. In Hebrew, Nukva (female), is a hollow which becomes filled by the Light, and Zachar (male) is he who fulfills this hollow by performing the act of filling, called Zivug (coition).

We Are The Pioneers!

We are the Pioneers!A question I received: Kabbalists wrote a great deal about the men’s need for a group, the exile, the future generation and correction. However, they didn’t write about women and the time when a strong female desire will force men to correct the world. Why didn’t they write about women and how a woman should progress?

My Answer: Everything’s meant to happen in due time. The future is unknown, and our actions determine how it will unfold. At every stage, we gain a new realization of how we should progress. In Kabbalah we work with the Upper World, the Creator, and we cannot predict the outcome of our actions ahead of time. It’s because we are dealing with an enormous mechanism – a system of souls, filled with the Upper Light.

The only place where Baal HaSulam wrote about the future is in his personal notes. There he wrote about the different possibilities, but what will actually happen depends entirely on our actions. From the manuscripts he left behind, we’ve compiled a collection of articles called “The Future Generation,” as well as four books called Fruit of Wisdom (Pri Hacham, volumes 1 – 4).

Now is the first time that the method of the world’s correction is being realized, and Baal HaSulam, Rav Kook, and other Kabbalists of the 20th century all wrote about this. Hence, we are the pioneers in this process. Kabbalists, including the prophets, described only the law of nature and its strict execution (the path of Beito, lit. “in its time”). They described how this law of nature would manifest without man’s intervention, or in other words, what would happen if nature forces us to attain correction.

But those who aspire for correction can accelerate this process (the path of Achishena, lit. “I will hasten it”) and thereby experience it positively. In this case, the prophecies are not talking about us, because we mitigate and accelerate them with the help of the Upper Light, which returns us to the Source.

This is also why Kabbalists did not describe women’s intervention in the common correction. They considered it a part of the common movement. Today, aided by their texts, we are embarking on this path.

The Obesity Problem – Why Is it Happening?

Dr. Michael LaitmanHere’s how Kabbalah explains the obesity problem that has emerged over the recent years: The inability to fulfill our growing egoism evokes people’s need to compensate the feeling of their inner emptiness – the lack of fulfillment of their egoistic desires – by any means possible. So basically, start thinking about “how to love and give” – and you’ll lose weight!

And why are so many women obsessed with this issue? Because a woman in our world has much less possibilities to find something that really fulfills her. On the whole, women suffer more than men.

Men and Women in Kabbalah

Men and Women in KabbalahIt is the assertion of ecofeminism that men take control over nature, while women integrate themselves into it. A man must essentially control himself, break his ego, and direct himself to the Creator. A woman, on the other hand, is ready to apply herself in this direction without much conflict.

This is, however, only while men and women are within the limits of our world, during their development through the degrees of concealment. Afterwards, when they cross the Machsom (barrier), they become equal in their spiritual work.

Are men the ones guilty for the Earth’s tough situation? Are women better for nature than men? Female egoism is less harmful to the Earth because it is more grounded and practical. Women who desire spirituality need to direct men toward it, showing that they will only respect and honor a man who directs himself toward spirituality.

Why is it difficult for men to feel women’s desires? A woman has a different desire, with a different property, to the desire of a man, like waves on different frequencies. That’s why it’s hard for a man to understand a woman.

What does a man need to do, to increase his desire to understand a woman? One needs to understand that a woman’s desire is a great (often the determining) force in man’s spiritual progress.

What is the difference between being inspired by the greatness of the goal when it comes from the group compared to when it comes from a woman? Are both elements essential? Initially, the importance of the goal comes from a woman, while in the group, the importance of the goal acquires the form of “bestowal and love” for others, for the Creator.

My Wife Is Against Me Studying Kabbalah

My Wife Is Against Me Studying KabbalahQuestion for ML: I have been passionately studying your materials for two months now, and I am thankful to you from the bottom of my heart. I am turning to you because of an arising crisis in my family – my wife is against me studying Kabbalah. She is not interested in changing toward the spiritual. I have tried to do nothing but give, without receiving, for about two weeks, but I don’t see any improvement. What can I do with regard to her, to receive help for mine and our mutual spiritual growth? I think that I’ll only be able to change myself. Will this affect my wife as well?

My Answer:
1. She’ll probably get used to it, so continue trying, and gently explain to her that you’re simply curious. [Read more →]

Lecture for Women in Honor of International Women’s Day

Lecture for Women in Honor of International Women’s DayThis morning, from 9:30 until 11am, I held a public lecture in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, on the theme “Women’s Spiritual Development.” Watch | Listen

Woman, The World Is Waiting For You!

Woman, the World Is Waiting for You!In honor of International Women’s Day, I was asked what would I say if I had an opportunity to address every woman in the world. Well, this is what I would say: Women, I am in despair from the men… I very much expect you to have seriousness, and understand that you have enormous strength in your hands, and that it is precisely you who can change the world. How? By understanding how the world should function.

Just as you know within how the family should function, how things should be arranged, how everything should function – each thing in its place – the children, the husband, the kitchen, everything. In the same manner, you have the ability and the strength to understand how the world should be arranged and then activate the male part to implement it.

All in all, we are situated in one small house – the whole of humanity is very small, and Earth – our home – is in a very disorganized and disconcerting state. It is very dangerous. I am sure that precisely you, woman, can begin the correction here and force the men to stop these dangerous games.

Women in Kabbalah

Women in KabbalahKabbalah is called “the science of reception” because it leads us to the attainment of eternal happiness, tranquility, serenity, peace, fulfillment, knowledge, and boundless love.

How can we make our lives like this? This is the very question that this method – the science of Kabbalah – should give us a clear answer to, by becoming our teacher and helping us reach this state. It is said that Kabbalah is primarily intended for men. This was, however, only the case in previous generations, which preserved and developed this method in order to bring it to us and make it suitable for use in our time. [Read more →]
