The problem is that we are unable to work on our connection and realize its importance more and more in any and all circumstances and situations, each and every day. The only reason for this is that people imagine the spiritual world as something far removed from the reality in which they currently exist. They think that the spiritual world exists in a different place or a different universe.

They don’t realize that they can reveal the spiritual world right here in addition to this world. It’s pleasant to think that we enter the spiritual world after death. Even when people learn through the wisdom of Kabbalah that they will see the spiritual world in this life, they still imagine revealing a world beyond, removed from everything we have here.

However, this is incorrect! What we reveal is a network of connecting forces between people and the Creator Who fills this world, this reality. We reveal a new operating and driving force in the universe that was previously concealed. In addition to our egoistic desire in which we perceive “this world”; we reveal the desire to bestow and within it; we reveal a new phenomenon called the “upper” or the “future” world, meaning the world that comes to us.

If a person, with all of his strength, tries to approximate the form of the upper world, the Creator, as an integral connecting network that is being revealed between all of the forms he currently perceives in his world, it helps him avoid creating an “idol” and to remain realistic as opposed to getting lost in mysticism.

The upper world is a network of bestowal that is revealed between all the part of this reality as well as the additional reality that is revealed to us as a network of forces. The only thing that exists are forces since everything is nothing but the force of desire, intention, and thought. When a person sees reality this way, he begins to realize that all the means for attaining this new reality are right in his hands.

After all, it’s attained with the help of people who are the carriers of the force of bestowal. These are his friends who want to obtain bestowal and an altruistic intention. Now, along with his friends, a person can begin to build and to reveal this system of bestowal.

You are facing the world, and now everything depends on how you relate to it: Do you pull it to yourself, or do you want to give it everything and connect it to yourself so as to do it good? You determine everything, and all the Light, the force of connection, devotion, and clarification, meaning all forms of bestowal, can flow through you.

Just like when treating someone who is ill, first it’s necessary to clarify what kind of disease it is, what course of treatment it requires, and what medicine should be used. When the medicine is finally working, you check that the patient has fully recovered and is in a perfect condition.

You either use everyone for your own good, by taking advantage of the lie we are living in now, or you try, no matter what, to bestow upon everyone in all circumstances and conditions. If you bestow upon others, you are called “Israel,” which comes from the Hebrew words “Li-Rosh” (I am the head), meaning the one who determines everything and cares for others.

There is nothing but the intention. Everything stays the way it is: you, your desires, and this world. The only thing that changes is your intention towards the world, and then you see it differently. If you bring it closer to you, through love, you and the world merge into a single whole. You will see all that with your own eyes.

You will see that the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking levels of nature are one closed system. The still, vegetative, and animate nature are angels, and people are the souls. This is the picture that appears as the upper Light operates. You ask, demand, clarify, and try to carry it out, and then the Light comes and fulfills this connection.

We have to get used to the correct perception of reality. Either we perceive it as it appears today, as though there is some external world out there, or we realize that all of reality is inside us.

This is a huge difference, because in the first case, I perceive all of reality from the perspective of using it for my own interests, and only in this egotistic way do I feel and understand it. And if I perceive reality through this egotistic filter, I feel what we call “this world” in my desire. However, if I perceive the world in the opposite way, which is called bestowal, not according to the formula of “everything is for me,” but rather that “everything is for them,” I feel a different reality called “the upper reality,” “the spiritual world.”

A person should check very carefully in what position his internal switch, the one that directs his thoughts, is: Is it for me or for all of us? Herein lies his free will each time.

The switch is in the middle position, just like an on/off switch, and I can turn it towards me, and then feel this world, or I can turn it “towards others” and feel spirituality. I’m like a switchman who turns the switch and feels either the upper world or this world in his desires.

The switch is in your hands, and how to turn it is your only choice. If you disconnect yourself from your ego and direct your thoughts toward others instead of yourself, you will advance toward bestowal and see the upper world in the same place, in the same desires.

We are in such concealment that we don’t even feel it. We perceive all of reality only inside ourselves, and everything that we feel is impressions inside our egoistic desire that actually doesn’t exist at all.

In the spiritual world there is no such notion as the desire to enjoy that receives for its own sake. If the desire is aimed towards itself, it cannot receive anything and stays in the dark. Our egotistic desire, however, is on such a low, base level that we are allowed to feel some kind of reality in it, an imprint of what seems to us as reality.

When we begin to develop and gain greater desires and intentions for the sake of bestowal, we start sensing the upper system. Before it happens each of us is like an unconscious person in delirium who feels some kind of an imaginary world in which he seems to exist, like someone in a coma, who sees various images running through his head, as it sometimes happens in a dream.

When we wake up and come back to our senses, our desire is already on another level and has the intention for the sake of bestowal. Thus, we become aware that we feel everything inside our desire and that there is nothing on the outside. Everything that previously seemed to us as external was also a sensation inside the desire to receive.

We attain the spiritual world in our desire to receive too. The still, vegetative, and animate levels of nature, all the people, all this big world, and everything that’s happening in it are merely changes in my desire to receive, which make me feel that the world is changing. I discover the other souls, meaning foreign desires so that I can connect them to myself with the intention to bestow, and then they become parts of me that help me measure to what extent I am in bestowal.

I’m kept in the fog purposefully, so that I won’t be able to feel the others while I try to bring them closer and feel them as inseparable parts of me. If I try to bring all of what seems like the external reality closer to me, I can correct my vessel to bestowal.

The extent to which I bring the external, foreign desires: the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking and unite them into a single whole, into one spiritual organism that consists of “brain-bones-tendons-flesh-skin” (Moach–Atzamot–Gidin–Basar–Orh) or of “root-soul-body-garments-chamber” (Shoresh–Neshama–Guf–Levush–Heichal) is a measure of my approaching the truth. Indeed, there is no one but me who feels all of reality inside myself and thus builds a vessel within so as to perceive the Creator in it.

I have to bring all the parts together until they all become as “one man with one heart” and all the people that seemed to me as strangers become part of my soul. Thus, each of us advances without disturbing anyone. Each of us builds his own world on his own plane, in his own cut, attaining it as his inner world. And the Creator fills this world, which means that a person is in adhesion with the Light, with the Creator Who fills him.

Question: How can I personally affect the process of the emergence of worlds?

Answer: You already exist in the world of Infinity; you only need to discover yourself in it. We all exist inside the circle of the world of Infinity—all of us! We automatically exist in this system in an ideal state. Right now we also are in the world of Infinity in a completely corrected state, but not in relation to us. This state of absolute bestowal, love, and the full interaction of every person with everyone else is completely opposite to us.

It is gradually revealed to us to the extent that we are able to tolerate it. It is the most repulsive, hateful, and odious state I could imagine. And this is why it is revealed to me to the extent that I am able to potentially agree with it ahead of time.

In Baal HaSulam’s “Peace in the World,” “The Freedom,” as well as other articles, we study that we are all interconnected like wheels in one mechanism where they are all locked in together, linked in an ideal manner. They are so tightly connected that the tiniest movement of one of the wheels causes the entire system to move. Everyone depends on everyone else, and everyone must move harmoniously. We are in this system initially.

We are all so different, and we exist in this picture (see the box in the diagram below). This image can be two or three dimensional, it can be anything. In it, we are tightly linked like in a Rubik’s Cube: Every one of us consists of 613 desires, together with everyone else, where every individual also consists of 613 desires. In other words, we are completely “knit together.”

But thankfully, this image is not revealed to us because we are unable to tolerate it. However, we exist in it, and we automatically perform all our actions, including the current ones as well. And all these actions are righteous. In reality, all we do is bestow to one another. But we do not see it. Instead, we see an opposite picture, the one we want to see.

Kabbalah attunes us to gradually reveal our ideal state so this image will begin to live in me, so that I want it to live in me. And then it becomes revealed.

There is nothing new in the world. Simply a state initially created by the Creator and where you exist from the beginning becomes revealed. This is why our entire wisdom is wisdom about the revelation of the Creator, this entire system, and no more than that. All that is required of us is to want for that what exists to become revealed. But we must change ourselves and agree with this image in order to want it and to reveal it. This is our work.

It all began when the desire to receive that the Creator created was shattered and became egotistic, and its different parts distanced from one another. We started to feel that we exist inside our egoism, each by himself.

This is how we evolved starting from an absolute zero and passing through the still, animate, and vegetative levels of development, whereby we developed instinctively. Eventually, we reached the fourth stage of the development of desire, when we already must develop consciously. The world is entering this stage now.

This process actually started a long time ago, from the first man (Adam Ha Rishon), from ancient Babel, and then developed gradually, making a big leap at the time of the ARI. During all this time our desire connected more closely, and thanks to this connection new and more complex creatures and forms of the still, vegetative, and animate nature came into being. The plus connected with the minus, and the mutual influence among them begot creatures from amoeba to a multitude of different animals.

The more the separate parts connected to one another and increased the cooperation between them, the more evolution advanced. At the first stages of connection, the connection occurred instinctively, under nature’s pressure that pushed evolution forward. And so evolution reached the level of man in which the instinctive connection to certain social forms began: families, tribes, then cities, and states. Today the whole world is connected. That is, we observe a clear tendency towards connection.

Accordingly, the egoistic desire in man also became more intricate and complex. First it was composed of many different desires, but then the different desires connected more closely and penetrated one another. On top of classical science with its clear differentiation into disciplines, the synergy of different scientific areas occurs. Thus, all the laws in physics, chemistry, and biology come together and gradually form a unified picture of nature.

Our thoughts and desires become increasingly intertwined and incorporated into one another, and thanks to this we know the world more deeply. But the truth is that this world does not exist—we are in an ocean of Light! But the more complex my desire to receive becomes, the more I feel the world is revealed to me like it is. It’s like there are all these people around me, in fact, are part of my own desires. Now they only seem to me as strangers, but when we connect, we become “one man with one heart.”

The only intention of nature, be it the surrounding nature or the inner one, in man and his understanding, is directed at an increasingly tighter connection of the shattered desire to receive. We are in a constant process of connection, but today we’ve entered an era when this aspiration has to be conscious and understood by us. Nature is at the last, the fourth, level of its development, and it compels us to know its tendency and to support it. We need to justify, agree with, and follow it.

We cannot continue to develop instinctively like in the past when nature developed our desire and pushed us to perform certain actions. It sent us to discover America and encouraged us to perform many other things. We obeyed our desires, invented, and built.

But this is no longer the case. Today you have a choice: Do you want to do it or not, does it seem important to you or not? If it doesn’t seem important to you, nature begins to teach you indirectly so as not to deprive you of your free will. It’s just like a child who refuses to listen to his parents, and so they are forced to act cunningly and arrange difficulties for the child so that he will come to them by himself and ask for help. This is how nature plays with us, just like with a child, so as not to deprive us of the awareness, the understanding, and the agreement.

Nature pressures us, pushes us forward, and shows us the right direction. Yet it doesn’t compel us to advance. Nature is a very cunning politician, and we can learn a lot from it.

The crisis is not outside a person or in the systems that we’ve created externally; rather, this crisis is inside us. It is first of all in everyone’s understanding of what our real condition is. It “comes” namely from the system that stems from the world of Infinity, which we are beginning to study. Everything is predetermined. We are simply discovering our internal reserves, our inner Reshimot (informational genes).

And so we will advance until we discover that we are in a totally new system. In the drawing we can see one system, the second system under it, and the third on top of it.

The middle system is us in our ordinary sensations. The lower system is the new egotistic forces that appear in us. But at the moment we don’t clearly feel that they are ours. They appear in us out of nowhere, as if we are controlled by them. There are many theories about this issue, including some cosmic ones.

There is another system that seems as opposite from us: the altruistic system, the system of bestowal, connection, the integral system. Our egoistic system is opposite to the new system.

All these systems are revealed in us, in me. Why did I draw myself “inside myself?” it is because I feel that the egoistic forces inside me are not mine. They begin to appear in me as strangers, as coming from below. On the other hand, I already feel that I have gotten “entangled” with some other system, which isn’t the one I have created.

Until today, only the middle part of the system existed for me, the part that is colored in yellow, “me.” I exist. This is me. This is our world, in which we found our way around easily. Everything was all right.

Now I see that there are certain thoughts that aren’t exactly mine, and also certain feelings, as well as desires. Why? It’s because I don’t feel that they bring me self-realization, that this is exactly what I need. This is why people escape to drugs, divorce, or different kinds of terror. They don’t feel that it is them. The feeling of my individual “self” disappears. We begin to feel that certain forces (not ours) are filling and pushing us.

We feel that our egoism is external to us. It is the force that arrives from the outside. It isn’t me. I am something different.

There is something else in me, something natural, and I am simply being loaded with egoistic forces. They irritate me. Thus, I begin to feel that my egoistic forces are not mine, and I call them “the evil inclination”—the evil desires, the malicious desires, the desires that are not mine, that were instilled into me.

A person becomes detached from his nature. The “I” begins to identify with the addition above one’s previous nature. He already has the feeling that “I” is not my desires, “I” is not my thoughts. I can detach myself from them, I can rise above them, and I can change them.

This is why I have drawn the system as two parts. It is very important because in this form I already begin to see myself as something complex. There is the “I,” and there are my desires and the egoistic attributes that simply exist in me, but I can somehow annul and change them. I am not tied to them at all.

As a result of the discovery of “who and what I am,” I begin to feel that at the same time I am in another world. That is, everything around me seems the same, yet something is different, something has changed.

I seem to find myself in an environment where there are other thoughts, other feelings, some conspiracy against me. I still don’t get what it is, but I am in a space where there are many different forces, different thoughts, and different ties that flow around me. I feel that they exist, but they don’t touch me. Rather, they only wrap me, and I can’t do anything with them.

This is our feeling in the world: It is very clear and leads to clear results.

The souls included in Malchut of the world of Atzilut awaken it through their requests to pass to them the Light that Reforms. Thus each soul builds itself.

When our souls ascend to Malchut of the world of Atzilut and connect to it, they reveal there a whole, complete system. Malchut seems poor and miserable only relative to each of us—this is how we see it.

However, when we connect to it to the extent that we want to bestow to it, we attain this bestowal and discover that all the souls are there: All the friends and all the relatives, and actually all the world is there! And it was only me who just got there and connected to them, in order to begin to work together.

It is said: “Every person judges others to the extent of his own flaws.” The corrupted system only exists relative to the uncorrected person who attains it. It is only to him that this world seems to exist, full of many people whom he needs to correct.

But actually, he needs to correct only himself. And then everything else that he sees around him will transform into the system of his soul, and nothing but it.

All sorts of desires are appearing within me now, and I feel that they aren’t mine, they appear from somewhere else. I ask myself: “Who am I?” “What am I?” “What am I for?” “Where does this come from within me?” “Do I need this or not?” “Actually, I don’t even want anything.”

Suddenly, I start thinking: “Why don’t I want anything?” Because all of this isn’t mine, there is some outside source that spins and manipulates me. On one hand, a person starts getting a faint subconscious feeling that all of this isn’t me, the world isn’t the same, it’s multi-layered, and there is someone else who is controlling and directing me. Where does this come from? Is this mine or not?

On the other hand, the desires arising in me do not give me realization; I don’t know what to do with them or what I can get with them. Inside me, there is a struggle to begin realizing them. I can’t see that they are mine, I can’t feel the way I used to feel, and I don’t feel that there is a goal in the realization of these desires, that I can actually get something from this.

Furthermore, outside of me a huge system is appearing that reveals the world in a new light. I start feeling myself existing in a confusing world. My desires aren’t mine, the world isn’t the same. What to do? This picture gradually emerging as if from the fog is so characteristic of our generation. In essence, it is what’s causing the crisis.

Question: You say that we are all connected into one system of desires, thoughts, and intentions, and that by changing them due to the influence of the environment, we don’t only transform ourselves, but the whole world as well. How can our thoughts change nature and the world?

Answer: Karl Marx wrote about the need to treat the power of the mind as a means to influence the world. Technology is a natural resource that can be turned into a tool for human will to dominate nature, or a tool to fulfill man’s will in nature. Technological developments are man-made tools of the human mind, the realization of the power of knowledge.

The realization of the power of knowledge means that the power of the mind is a form of energy that can influence external or material and internal or mental processes. Mind power and knowledge can change matter and thus become the force that changes man’s external and internal nature.

Today, humanity as an integral global system can use the power of the mind and knowledge to change the natural environment in order to dominate both nature and itself. However, we will only succeed in using the power of the mind if we use it as a power to correct the integral global connections between us and change them from egotistic or receiving  to those of bestowal or mutual guarantee.
