New Life #357 – Laughter And Humor

New Life #357 – Laughter And Humor
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What is the role of humor in our lives; how does it help us bring hearts together, create a connection between us, and how can it serve us in the dissemination of Integral Education?

Summary

Generally, professional humorists are unhappy people. A person who is more developed enjoys humor more from sudden thoughts about the unseen connections between different things. Cynicism and humor are two different things. True humor developed only in recent centuries. Humor results from a developed person contemplating himself from the side and laughing at creation. Good humor suddenly and unexpectedly connects between different things. That is how these sudden thoughts are born.

Laughter about something must be derived from a place of love. It is necessary to be careful not to move onto the tracks of harm. Someone in the entertainment world knows deeply with great detail about how things are done professionally. Humor knocks down walls between people, opens the heart, because it makes all of us like children, equal.

Humor can be a real educational tool in the wisdom of connection.

New Life #351 – What Is Time?

New Life #351 – What Is Time?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

What is the concept of time? Is it subjective? What does our feeling of time depend on and under what conditions can we understand and manage it in order to achieve something in life?

Summary

If my senses were equally impressed all the time, I wouldn’t feel time. Time is the outcome of change. Pleasure and lack of pleasure, this is what gives me the feeling of time since I am made of a desire to enjoy. Measuring whether our desire is filled or not is what gives us the feeling of time. The feeling of the future develops out of the desire to enjoy and learning how to attain what we desire.

There are many types of time, but in terms of the perception of reality, everything is in me, in my box. The perception of reality is totally subjective. Sometimes time is stretched and sometimes it goes by very quickly. We can have an objective perception of reality only if we learn how to manage our nature—the desire to enjoy. Managing the desire to enjoy means acquiring a higher desire, a desire to bestow, and working with both of them.

New Life #350 – Unity Of The People: Publicity

New Life #350 – Unity Of The People: Publicity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What are the conditions that must exist so that we can reach unity of the people; what do we achieve through our private lives and how can we achieve it through Integral Education?

Summary

Unity of the people will provide every person and every family, responding to the root of everything that they are missing in life. When we will all be like one big family, personal security will increase, children will run free.

It is possible to make a campaign of patience on the highways, “Because all of us are one family.” This would be the new norm. There will be widespread publicity, a general educational process for unity of the people, in all areas of life. Unity of the people will lower the cost of living. After all, you would not sell to your relatives at inflated prices.

It is necessary to “plow” the nation with publicity about the unity of the people. Today the divisions are terrible and deep.

New Life #349 – Uniting The Israeli Nation: An Ideology

New Life #349 – Uniting The Israeli Nation: An Ideology
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What distinguishes Israel from the other nations? How is this expressed in our genealogy from Abraham until our days and how can we unite the whole world?

Summary

We have to unite the nation since our nation has no right to exist if we are not united. All of Israel are friends. We are a small but greatly divided nation since we have absorbed many views from all over the world during the 2,000 years in exile.

We can unite only on the basis the Abraham established of Hesed (mercy), love and connection. We have not worked on building the mutual love between us, on building the original Israel since we have returned to the land of our fathers.

We lack the education for love of others. We need a national socio-educational plan of uniting the nation. Unity is essential for everyone in a global integrated world. Only we can start this process.

If people felt mutual care and tried to understand others, if they felt connection and unity, we would live in the “Garden of Eden” – paradise.

New Life #346 – Peace In Man

New Life #346 –  Peace In Man
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What is the meaning of peace in man? How do we know if we are working toward peace, and what is the connection between man, the world, and peace in man?

Summary

“Peace” means being whole (from the same root in Hebrew) and balancing your forces. Peace is mutual complementation. Peace is self-correction. I gladly concede and not sorrowfully, because I want to acquire the force of giving.

First, “don’t do unto others what is hateful to you.” Don’t enjoy the loss of others. Then, “love thy friend as thyself.” Try to fill everything others lack as an expression of your love to them.

The full correction of our attitude to others is called making peace with the upper force.

New Life #345 – Peace With Nature

New Life #345 – Peace With Nature
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What is this concept called peace, between which forces are balanced, what is supposed to be found in peace and through what actions can it be reached?

Summary

Peace (Shalom) is wholeness (Shlemut), that can exist on condition that we know the forces of nature and create an agreement (Hashlemah) among them.

In nature everything is built upon two opposing forces, plus and minus, hot and cold, reception and giving. All our relationships require balance between reception and giving.

Nature is revealed today as an inclusive network of connections; we are out of balance with it, we lack peace. Peace agreements as they always have been as various compromises won’t help. Now we must adapt to the laws of nature. Today we must achieve true peace, the adaptation of the relationships between us to the general system of nature.

True agreement is not compromise; rather, each side accepts the needs of the others as if they were his own. And in the connection between the two sides, a third is revealed—the next level of human development.

New Life #344 – Leadership And Government: The Future Leadership, Part 3

New Life #344 – The Future Leadership, Part 3
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

What values should a leader follow? What system should he build in order to create a new society in which everyone can be a leader, and how should we educate youth to leadership?

Summary

A leader should be on the level of love of others and from there lead everyone to corrected relations. He has to lead an internal revolution in people’s attitudes to others, from hatred to love. A true leader is a person for whom love of others comes before any action he performs. He treats everyone like his own children. Such a leader combines feelings and rational thought in the middle line, since for him everything is connected and integral.

There are special exercises in the wisdom of connection that summon a special force that is concealed in nature which can connect us. Leadership is only by education. Any kind of oppression is wrong. An integral leader creates educational processes that enable every individual to lead himself correctly. A leadership course for the youth is needed. A leader’s greatness is determined by the extent to which he closes the gap between him and others and by his the love he brings about.

New Life #343 – Leadership And Government: The Future Leadership, Part 2

New Life #343 – The Future Leadership, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

In a system where everyone influences others, everyone can be a leader of society as a whole. What should we aspire for and how should we lead our life toward` a bright future?

Summary

Today everyone is connected to everyone else and we cannot keep thinking only egoistically. Because of the network that has been formed, a country that is isolated collapses. This is the strongest weapon.

Marx understood that the next phase of humanity after capitalism is living as one family.

We have no choice, because a new force is operating on us today, the network force. Narrow individualism is collapsing. A leader needs to explain the situation the world is in and the necessity of developing “love thy friend as thyself.”

Nature develops mankind to be mutually connected as one big family. A person can develop the feeling of others by special exercises according to the integral education method. A special force is revealed in the effort to connect, the integral force of nature itself, and it connects us.

New Life 600 – The 15th Of Av – The Holiday Of Love

New Life 600 – The 15th Of Av – The Holiday Of Love
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What is the connection between the holiday of love and the 9th of Av? Why have we lost the ability to love and how can we reach the complete fulfillment of love in all our relationships?

The 15th of Av is considered one of the most favorable days for Israel. After the revelation of hatred comes the correction of love. Hate and love are two sides of the same matter and the distance between them is very short.
I have created the evil inclination (the 9th of Av); I have created the Torah as spice for it (the 15th of Av).

There is Light in nature, the correcting force. In Av we speak about the love between a couple: the Creator and the created beings; a male and a female, the Light and the desire to receive. If the connection between us is weak, the Creator cannot dwell among us, hug and kiss and mate with us.

The source of evil is the 9th of Av and the source of goodness is the 15th of Av. Good and evil are measured according to our closeness to the Light. Because we have not reached this upper goodness yet, the 15th of Av is interpreted as partnership and that’s all, as something light. Today there are many problems in the relations between us: in a relationship between a couple, in the family, at work, and in the Knesset. This is a state of destruction, the 9th of Av.

Love means filling the desires of others before I fill my own desire. I need to know what the other wants, to feel it, and his or her desire should be more important to me than my own. In spirituality every moment there is awareness of your new partner again, but we lack that. True love is a love that is constantly renewed, endless, and eternal. Love thy friend as thyself is the way to pair with the Creator, and can be exercised in relationships with friends.

A group refers to ten people who connect with love and build the vessel for the revelation of the Shechina between them. Spiritual partnership is when two people feel as one, and the agreement, the understanding, and the complementation between them in their heart and mind. In fact, we should reach this loving relationship not only as a couple but toward everyone. The first tip is: try to feel each other, just as you feel yourselves, try to feel that you are one, in one reality.

New Life #328 – The Quest For Honor

New Life #328 – The Quest For Honor
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Summary

Every person has a need for honor to define himself. How can one use this value correctly to get a true feeling of integrity?

Man’s need for respect differentiates him from animals. Society defines the values for respect. It is important to check who defines the values that I invest my life to attain.

Someone who is respected is someone who wins attention from others, figures prominently and is considered important. People are willing to sacrifice their lives so that they will be respected after their death. Respect is something eternal.

It is possible to use the inclination for honor for good or for evil. Destructive respect is when I do everything to merit respect, including destroying others and society. Constructive respect is when I am concerned for the good of others and society, and gain their appreciation. Do I want to step on them to get higher, or am I ready to sacrifice myself for their good?

Through the wisdom of connection it is possible to educate everyone so that all are respected and admired by others. Then each one respects the others because specifically through his connection with them he is elevated to a higher state, together.

Human nature is egoistic. We need to learn how to transform it to giving, bestowal, and love. When we become like a single body, we are no longer afraid that there will be others who are more respected than we are. Mutual respect means that we respect the value of connection, the power of mutual bestowal that is created between us. A person doesn’t have to have respect from someone, for basically creating the characteristic of bestowal between us makes him feel respected.

My egoistic nature pushes me to step on others to win respect. I raise myself above them. If you want to benefit others, nobody will stop you. You will gain respect and appreciation.

Filial piety: children have contempt for their parents because it is clear to them that they will always be treated better than them.

When we learn to relate to others like a close family, a loving society will be built.
