Question: This weekend our friends all over the world will go out to the streets to distribute materials to millions of people. How can we prepare for this internally?

Answer: First of all, we should understand that everything that is happening in the world is happening for us. We must see the Creator’s guiding hand in every action. He gives us a chance to perform corrections in the light of external activities of different organizations, the intentions of which aren’t always the purest.

One of the major principles of our development is “it swallowed abundance and spew it out.” We constantly get zero results, as if pressing the gas pedal to the floor while in neutral gear. The Sitra Achra (the other, impure side) seems to swallow all our work, preparing itself to control and to rule. Eventually, however, it spews out everything it has swallowed. Everything that has accumulated in it suddenly comes back to us.

This is because we don’t have the vessels to accumulate all our efforts, to “store” the results of our activity in the world. Millions of newspapers, lots of books, the Internet, television—everything seems to be going into a bottomless pit. But later we will get it back, according to the rule of “it swallowed abundance and spew it out.”

Even today different forces in the world, with greater and lesser degrees of purity, offer us an opportunity for dissemination. We don’t have to take them into account, but rather we continue our own way, without developing any relationships with them. We are only in contact with people who are pushed out of their homes by these forces. They take part in the demonstrations chanting slogans, and in the meantime we give out our materials in silence.

Our materials will do their work. This is because in every leaflet that we give people there is a connection with the Light. The Light will flow through the letters we printed and will do their job.

We can already see the results all over the world. Our friends are amazed by how quickly people connect to our message and are ready for more. Even professors come with their students to study this phenomenon that contradicts common knowledge.

So we only have to prepare lots of materials that convey our message and to talk less, especially outside Israel, where our forces are limited. Baal HaSulam says that it is even possible to hire people to advertise our message of unity, but the content must always be ours.

All our friends must go out to the streets tomorrow. It is this kind of work that can truly connect us. This is a great opportunity for all of us. No one should stay home. There are people who haven’t been coming to the group for years because they aren’t happy with it. But now is not the time for hard feelings.

If you really want to advance towards the goal, if your spiritual life is more important to you than your pride, step on your pride and come. Start connecting with others for this cause. Take a pile of flyers and give them out. Even if you go home afterwards without speaking with any of your friends, the external action will have its effect. After all, without connection you won’t reach the goal.

So, we go out to the streets in order to distribute our materials to the masses. Less talk, more circulation of flyers. Now is not the time to talk to people. It’s enough for them to receive leaflets with our Internet address. It is a rare opportunity for us, and we shouldn’t miss it.

Everything will change in the future. We have to find the ways to disseminate our message on the Internet as widely as possible. One way or another, everyone uses the Internet today. Moreover, people gladly leave us their e-mail addresses and even telephone numbers and are ready for further communication. Hence, in the future, the emphasis will shift to virtual space and communication.

Question: Why is the law of mutual guarantee concealed from us? Why can’t scientists discover it?

Answer: You would like to place a person before irrefutable facts: Think badly of your neighbor, and a boulder falls on you from the sky; cause harm to someone, and you receive a threatening notice from the bank. You want to have an immediate response to your every action: reward or punishment. It would be a law of nature, an indisputable fact for you.

However, a person must be given freedom of choice. If we acted instinctively, there would be no problem. Nature would pressure us into becoming one whole. It is very simple: If you show me that I lose by disconnection with others, I will smile and be nice to everyone. I will build friendly relationships, take care of others, and make sure no one is treated unfairly. If we were programmed with mutual responsibility from Above, we’d gladly implement this program.

But the truth of the matter is that we must arrive at mutual guarantee by our free choice; we have to build within the human degree on our own. That is why the message of unity is hidden in the fog and we are lost in it, deprived of a sense of direction. The moment we begin to realize and feel it, it vanishes. Otherwise, we won’t be able to develop the human within ourselves.

The fog is not important. It doesn’t matter if we are slow or clever, clumsy or graceful. We must do only one thing: build an environment. Like a child building a house out of blocks, we should construct an artificial environment as an example of who we would like to be if we desired it.

If a person sits idle, Nature will oblige him indirectly, through blows and sufferings. But blows, too, will never force man to surrender his own nature because by this a person descends to the “animate” degree and builds the environment instinctively in order to survive. It would be a Soviet model of socialism with the Creator instead of the KGB behind your back. And you would become an animal living in unity with other animals in the herd. What kind of created being is that? Can we reach the level of the Creator like that?

Question: During the social protests in Israel, people experienced a sensation of togetherness for the first time. They understood what it means to be united. Now they lack this sensation. They don’t know what to do next. Some say that they want to become social activists and do volunteer work.

Answer: We need to rid them of all their illusions. Possibly, they will go and hand out presents in hospitals or distribute donations for the needy. We can’t stop them from doing this, but the most important thing is that they understand that correction comes from within. It’s not their external actions that need to change, but their inner state that must be altered. We discover the evil in the world not in order to correct it, but in order to transform ourselves. Then, the evil will disappear. The evil serves as an indicator of our inner change.

That’s a very different approach. It’s like switching your perception to a new level. You have to invert yourself from front to back. I always looked for ways to change the world, how to build more support systems and expand charity, how to create better aid systems, and how to improve our society. I wanted my kids to be able to walk at night without being attacked and help the elderly since I will be in that state one day. However, all of these things aren’t meant to correct our nature, but they serve to improve the picture of the external world, which I wanted to sweeten.

Now, we see an opposite situation. All those protests in numerous countries are totally useless, although we do understand why they are happening. The true reason for the protests is not what the oligarchs did, but that the external conditions of the world have changed. The world has become global, and that’s the essence of the crisis. Financial bubbles were created in the past as well; moreover, governments do this today because they don’t have any other solution. What else can they do? They are in a trap.

The real solution that they do not see yet is the inner change of a person. It is very difficult to discern this solution, and it’s even more difficult to believe that it’s realistic. It’s true that if we were better, if we stayed more connected and thought jointly, then, of course, we wouldn’t pollute the land and the air, and we would do everything right. That’s all true, but we are unable to do so. Nature is not pushing us hard enough yet, although according to recent data, we are finishing off the Earth. Yet, it doesn’t seem to be making an impression on us. We know that it’s still not happening today.

We use international organizations only for egoistic purposes. In general, if the United Nations makes a decision regarding any country, it is pretty easy to make this country comply. In this global world, you just close up their import and export “taps,” stop the financial flows, and here we go, the “patient” starts suffocating.

So why are we incapable of organizing the world properly? We have the ability, and we possess such forces. However, we haven’t suffered enough yet, and after each affliction, we go back to our old behavioral pattern.

Question: What changes do we have to implement at this point?

Answer: The most important task is to change man’s outlook on the world, his approach to it. In truth, we don’t need to do anything else. It is impossible to take any practical steps without this.

Indeed, people haven’t figured out what’s happening yet. They first must agree with the idea that we have to change internally in the direction of unity. It is enough to merely agree with it out of despair caused by the total extinction of the sources of fulfillment. People will reach a new understanding, will be imbued with a new feeling, and start to implement excellent ideas even before you think of them. As a result of the strong global connection, people will acquire wisdom.

Question: What does it mean “to agree to unite”?

Answer: People will agree internally that the world’s new and better future lies in the connection between everyone. This is already a different outlook on the world. I don’t object any more, I agree to learn about this, I become part of this plan, and I accept this message. I already understand that the crisis is caused by big egoism that has totally separated us and drawn us apart, while a single, whole system is being revealed to us.

This is what constitutes the agreement: Instead of following the price of the US dollar and interest rates, people will begin to change their way of thinking. “We will be better off if we unite more because this is the condition for success today, which Nature has posed to us.” A factory owner or a doctor at the clinic—no matter where a person is and what he or she does—will know that he can only succeed by way of unity, connection. A person will understand that it won’t help if he steals from someone, profits at someone’s expense, deceives someone, and so on. His entire attitude to life will change.

The present financial system is based on the principle of success at the expense of others. At first everything was fine: People saved money and invested it in industry. But then the speculative games started and prices soared. A fight starts over a glass that costs five dollars: One is ready to pay 20 dollars, and another 30, and we build an entire industry on these prices, as if it is based on real money. As a result, the dollar which was initially made of gold is now made of paper. We’ve lost control over the economy. It isn’t the economy anymore, but one big lie, and this is why it is being destroyed today.

We have to shift to a totally different system and most importantly, determine what we are doing this for. The global financial system has to help us balance the general system. We will operate not with inflated but real financial resources, which correspond to a real capacity of the world’s economy. Through this we will bring the world to balance. We will all discuss how to better invest the available means in order to reach maximum balance.

This is the new economic approach: to profit not from money in a bank account, but rather from strengthening the connection and balance betwen all the systems.

Question: Will each person be able to keep his occupation and just redirect himself toward the common good? Or will he need to reduce the field of his activity?

Answer: Of course, reductions are inevitable. After all, the crisis continues, and more and more people will become unemployed. It’s necessary to get them involved into the system of upbringing that teaches them the laws of the new world and the principles of unification that Nature demands of us.

Our role is to attract the Light that Reforms through dissemination and education. And then, if everything is conducted optimally, the employment in the world will “sag” softly, like on an air pillow, in such a way that people whose occupations aren’t required for providing basic necessities will smoothly transition to learning. Learning will become their main job.

The technical way it will be executed is not important right now. The Light will give us the intellect and sensation. It will execute everything and will perform the division itself. We only need to attract it, to cause the changes in the world, in ourselves, and on the other hand, to follow nature’s external pressure.

Thus, gradually we will begin to produce less useless things, to contaminate the environment less, to impose on one another less unnecessary services, and to leave the old framework of occupational activities. Production, trade, power, everything will “deflate” to the basic level, to the normal living conditions of human race.

With the help of the new education system, all of those who were vacated from their occupations will be available for unification in which we will begin to discover our next spiritual level, the human degree. After all, in a spiritual sense, all of us are still at the “animate” level of development.

Question: At the convention we get overwhelmed with the feeling of unity. What can we do not to forget the intention during this time?

Answer: I don’t think we will have problem with that during the convention. After all, there we work constantly connected. There are those who return home in the evening and suddenly rediscover an entire world with its problems and difficulties. And then they are amazed by how big the gap is between what we live in internally and what is going on externally.

And now that gap will be even bigger because the shattering is being revealed on the outside, while unity—inside. The contrast between these two states will manifest with even greater intensity.

We need to prepare internally for the convention in December in order not to lose the intention during the lectures, the activities, or the breaks. In general, the environment constantly needs to put pressure on us and thus direct us so that we have this sensation all the time.

Besides that, we have another month and a half before the convention, and I think that during this time new people from Israel and from all over the world will be attracted to it, including those who do not have the point in the heart, but nevertheless feel that this is important and that a solution is hiding here, even though they don’t yet understand it.

Question: Unemployment is rising around the world. It’s also affecting our friends from different groups and regions….

Answer: The world does not understand what disaster it’s facing. Soon half the population will be left without a job. And for this reason the first point of our proposed solution is to stop viewing unemployment as a catastrophe, which needs to be dealt with so everyone can get back to working 10-15 hours a day. Instead, everyone needs to work enough to provide one another with food, clothes, and other basic goods.

We are entering a time, a period, when we can forget everything there was before. We need to switch our minds to the new regime because it’s impossible to return to the old one. Very soon we will only need to care for the most necessary things. The next wave will wash over the entire world like a tsunami, and we’ll need to make a simple economic calculation: What we need to produce to provide us with more or less normal basic conditions and nothing else.

In other words, this means that we need to maintain balance with nature. The upper governance will not allow us to do whatever we want, just like it doesn’t allow a wolf in the woods to stock up several month’s cache of prey in order to feel secure about its future. The world will change dramatically, and the Creator will force us to live with so called “faith”: If everyone takes care of each other, things will go well, and if they do not, we have famine, destruction, and wars.

The calculation will be simple: We only work to provide everyone with the necessities, and nothing more than that, nothing in excess, no saving for the future or “rainy day money.” Naturally, this does not mean that everyone is wearing hand-me-downs or is half starving. We have simply forgotten what a normal life is, how life was 200-300 years ago.

And this is why unemployment is not the problem; it is simply the way that humanity is ridding itself of extra activities that only destroy and contaminate Earth. “Unemployed” is the wrong term. This refers to people who finally stop doing useless things. Now they need to start studying, and this will become the most important job along with unity and dissemination, while manufacturing will be reduced to life’s necessities.

People should not hope for the direction to change. More people will be losing work instead of finding it. We need to change our attitude towards life, and then we’ll see that those who have lost work are not unemployed. Having rid themselves of extra work that harms everyone, they are ready to take on a real job: correction. This is what it means to “serve the Creator.”

Question: Economists explain that in the modern global and integrated world, the entire world influences an individual, and an individual influences the entire world. This is a very large system, which must be taken into consideration entirely, and this is why the old economic laws are no longer working. The problem with an individual person planning to open a certain business is that to do it, he needs to know about all the influence he receives from everywhere, but where can he learn this?

Answer: This knowledge can only be acquired from the wisdom of Kabbalah once we begin to reveal the common network. And then we will purely, instinctively be acting in a proper manner since otherwise this network would not have been revealed to us. It only becomes revealed under the condition that I act properly in it and wish to connect to it in bestowal.

Then this system becomes revealed to me, and I naturally receive only what I need to receive from it to bestow. And if something gives me the opportunity to bestow more to others, I will receive more with this purpose, but I myself will always remain in the “small state” (Galgalta ve Eynaim), in balance.

The wisdom of Kabbalah does not explain to us the process of the attainment of one’s first “balanced” state. This is called the transitional period or the period of preparation. It happens under the influence of the environment, while you want to find certain precise stages and mechanical economic laws here ahead of time so as to instruct every bank and organization what monetary sum to transfer and where, what loans to give and with what interest rate.

But this is impossible to do before we connect into a true system that has not yet been revealed. However, certain separate ways can already be figured out today, and we will keep trying.

We need new global education and fair distribution based on nationwide referendums, which will allow us to find out the speed with which the establishment of the mutual guarantee can advance. It’s like a statistic.

This must be revealed to us, but for now it’s hard to say something specific. It’s like we don’t know what our path will be like before the first spiritual degree. We only know the factors that influence it: environment and man’s efforts to be in touch with this environment and to find this net of mutual guarantee in it.

But we don’t know anything more than that; everything else becomes revealed along the way. Of course, with my spiritual vision I see a bit more and a bit further than a regular person does, but for me things are not clear all the way, and I am not embarrassed to say it. Right now no one can say how this process will be unraveling because our freedom of will is involved here.

When you are on the spiritual degrees, you can precisely determine your current and future states. You do not know when it will come, but it is clear to you that you will go from state “A” to state “B.” However, you can’t say this during the transitional period.

We have been created with qualities that do not allow us to create a healthy, balanced society. No matter how much we try, our actual essence denies us this opportunity.

Even if all of humanity really wants to bring things into order on their own, the initial defect within us will destroy all the efforts. We can spend a million years going around the idea of unity, but we will not be able to realize it. Only the upper Light can do it. Our own “initiatives” will only add problems.

There are seven billion of us, and our egoism has been growing over the course of history. We have finally become a “round” system that our egoism has united into. Today, we see the screws tightening this system. We see it compress, become tighter, and we see it revealing new connections between us.

This interconnection did not manifest before, but now it is coming out. We will mark the beginning of this process as the year 1995, even though Baal HaSulam wrote in the forties that the world had become one family.

It will be 2012 soon, and the system is consolidating before our eyes. New continuous and reciprocal threads of connections are coming through. Reciprocity is mutual guarantee, no matter how it manifests, whether in a positive or a negative way.

This way, Nature obligates us to unite, and it will continue to act in a timely manner through suffering. The question is what kind of compression and pressure will be needed for us to say: “Enough, it’s time to do something with society.” However, so far, we are gripped in a vice only slightly.

One way or another, only the upper Light that Reforms will be able to give us peace. Only it will reveal the proper interconnection to us and change us so that we would want to unite or, to be more precise, to accept what already exists.

After all, we are connected, but against our will. This is where the crisis comes from. The world crisis is the manifestation of the distance between the desired and the actual. Universal interconnection is a fact. Professionals and researchers testify about it, and Baal HaSulam writes about it. It is real, but undesirable. Only the upper Light will give us the necessary desire. Nothing else will help man change his nature.

Question: Besides everything else, we have to establish contact with economists, but they are guided by specific computational models. We have not developed our own economic model. What axioms should it be based on?

Answer: First of all, we have to accept as a fact that the capitalistic model of the last 70-80 years went bankrupt. A race for consumer goods and services is no longer possible for several reasons: Resources are being depleted, the environment is polluted, and overall, the system no longer functions. We clearly see now that it goes against Nature’s development. It’s not realistic to keep increasing production and consumption; on the contrary, the tendency switched to bearish (downward moving) market activities.

We still want more, but it doesn’t work out. Human society is naturally developing in the other direction, towards unity, and absolutely not to where an egoistic economist would want to lead us. Nothing can be done: Regardless of what they think, everything is developing differently.

As a result, we find ourselves in a crisis, although in reality, it is not a crisis but a dead-end. Our own deadlocked way of thinking puts us into a hopeless situation. Thus, we need to open our eyes and realize that Nature sets a different course. It has its own program, and our counter plans won’t stop it. A stubborn child is sometimes allowed to do something on his or her own in order to learn from their error and to find themselves in a deadlock. And humanity is in that same situation now.

Thus, we have to show evidence that is supported by Nature itself: We are required to be in balance with it, meaning that we have to lower ourselves to the level of a balanced economy. Gradually, we have to “climb down the tree,” and go in a completely different direction, build a new paradigm, and look at life, ourselves, the family institution, employment, and so on through that prism.

First of all, there is no need for everyone to be working 8-10 hours a day. What is it needed for? Look at what is happening to our children. It’s better for them to stay with their mothers. That’s how it has been for ages, and only in the last hundred years we moved the rural population, both men and women, into cities and factories. Free the people from this yoke.

Then children will be getting a good education supported by an “adjusted” television and Internet. Finally, mothers will be spending time with them instead of sending them to full-time day care. Is it a right thing to do to leave a one or two month old baby out of the home from morning till evening? What is it needed for? What good does it do? Who is winning from that? Billions in profits for the rich, besides increasing their bank accounts, bring harm to everyone, and also stop bringing pleasure to them as well.

Thus, we have to build a new perception of the world, a new outlook on life: Everyone is working as much as it is needed for social balance, and not for an imposed “prosperity.” Real prosperity reflects a blossoming of our relationships, with a feeling of life being full, and not an exhausting competition. We’ve had enough of competition with each other for imaginary prizes that melt in our hands.

It’s necessary to consciously and thoughtfully, with the help of upbringing, bring “everyone down to earth” and put their feet firmly on the ground after this prolonged stay with our heads in the clouds of illusions. Otherwise there will be a crash, and we will be learning via troubles and suffering. Thus it’s better to initiate changes through education and alleviate the blows society will have to go through.

We simply have no other choice. The new economy has to gradually lower us to a level of balanced consumption.
