Baal HaSulam, “The Love for the Creator and Love for the Created Beings”: …when teaching the young, the women and the illiterate, they are taught to work out of fear and in order to be rewarded…

“The young” are people who haven’t learned wisdom yet. “The women” are those who do not have the force of the screen. “The illiterate” are those who understand only their own earthly, egoistic desire. And they are taught accordingly, in conformity to the reality. A person is not required to do something he is incapable of. He is promised a reward, “You will be well off. Just act and absorb others’ hopes that a special force will come and correct you, that it will unite you with others and by virtue of that, you will find yourself in the world of goodness.”

Now we must also conduct mass dissemination by the same principle, responding to people’s current desires. “Do you want to have money, honor, power, knowledge, a good life, health, a pension, and a vacation? Excellent. You will receive all of that if you unite.” They do not have to know about the Light that reforms because they do not have a point in the heart that originates from it. Therefore, in our explanations, we stop at mutual guarantee. But in reality, it is not what will solve all the problems; they will be solved by the Light that we will evoke when we aspire to the mutual guarantee. It will carry out all the changes for the better.

…until they accumulate knowledge and gain wisdom. Then they are told that secret little by little…

They will understand that bestowal in and of itself is the greatest and most important thing in the world. There is nothing more important than bestowal. There is no pleasure greater than being in pure bestowal, when its Light fulfills me. This is expressed instinctively in motherly love. And this secret is revealed by none other than the Light.

…and they are accustomed to that matter with ease until they attain and know Him and serve Him with love.

By virtue of multiple, repeated actions, the Lights influence the vessels and train them, meaning bring a different nature into them. In spirituality there is no pressure or compulsion. At every phase, everything is built only upon understanding, realization, and attainment. After all, the issue at hand is man’s formation.

Eventually, everyone will rise to the upper one, including those who are completely not disposed to that. After all, by virtue of the breaking, they have a part of the spiritual spark and therefore they can join the common work as parts of one body. Every cell in it carries out its own function, which is irreplaceable.

Bina of Arich Anpin purposefully comes out of its head and descends downward to help the children, ZON. Bina itself becomes filled with the Light of Hassadim (Mercy), which was not restricted, and this is why it is completely free and can be anywhere. ZON clothes Bina, and since the latter has split into two parts, ZON also splits into two parts: an upper and a lower one, GAR and ZAT.

This separation begins in Bina with the four phases of the Direct Light, where Bina is obligated to separate its lower part, to use it to bestow. The upper part, which wishes to bestow, produces the lower, receiving part, ZAT de Bina, as well as ZON, where this bestowal is realized.

When the Creator creates reception on the first phase, the creature does not agree with it. And when the creature wishes to become like the Creator, in GAR de Bina, it has no choice but to return to reception, but this time at its own will. It begins to use its nature in order to bestow.

GAR de Bina is an independent point that tells the Creator: “I do not use the desires You have given me!” And then it returns and says: “All right, I will use them, but because I choose to.” This is the place of a point where this decision is made—a boundary, a section. This point in the middle of Bina is called the point of freedom of choice: the middle third of Tifferet.

And this is why we also always divide in two, GAR (Israel) and ZAT (the nations of the world), with the section between them. Below are the desires to receive, above are the desires to bestow. This ladder never changes.

In our days, when AHP, the so-called 99%, is beginning to reveal itself, we need to know how to work with it. This is the first time that the full structure of the entire ten Sefirot (Galgalta ve Eynaim and AHP together) is becoming revealed, and this is why the time of correction is coming. Now Galgalta ve Eynaim can actually act because until now it was only the period of preparation, with no opportunity to actually realize it in action.

Galgalta ve Eynaim only exists to correct the AHP. These desires belong to Bina from the beginning, which is called upon to take care of AHP.

We should know about this separation as we use it to attract the upper Light, as well as have a better understanding of what is happening around us. We will soon see with our own eyes how all these things materialize because this upper structure has started to reveal itself in our world in practice. Who knows how long this will take, whether it will be months or years, but we are on this track because the first revelation already happened.

Starting back with the four phases of the Direct Light, Bina divides into two parts: the first part wants to bestow, and the second part decides that in order to bestow, it must receive. And then it creates Zeir Anpin, destined to receive for the sake of bestowal. The action of ZON (Zeir Anpin and Nukva), which come out of Bina, is essentially the realization of Bina’s bestowal.

This is why we, the creatures, are the Creator’s action. We pertain to ZON, and the Creator pertains to the upper one, Bina. In the worlds, this manifests in the Partzuf of Arich Anpin whose Keter and Hochma remain in its head, and Bina comes out of it and descends into the body. As a result, all spiritual degrees divide the same way into Galgalta ve Eynaim and AHP, separated by a precise border.

When we connect AHP to us, we merit for Arich Anpin to begin working with us and to give us the Light of Hochma (Wisdom), the Light of spiritual life, in addition to the Light of Hassadim (Mercy), which comes in response to our desire to connect between us.

We only need to ask for connection. The problem is that we become lost in a multitude of made up desires. But from all these useless desires we only need to select one important and truly eternal demand that brings us to the eternal purpose, and not some temporary impulses that arise in us along the way and throw us in different directions we immediately forget about.

The only demand is the desire to connect. After all, initially we were united in our perfect state, but it broke, and we found ourselves separated. What else can we demand from this broken state to attain eternity? Only connection!

We are not able to connect independently, but only with the help of the Light of AB-SAG that will evaluate and correct our desires. But we must start this action on our own, in other words, try to connect and find out what we can do with our own powers and which part is left for the Light.

There is no other purpose in our world but connection. This is why nothing but unity will help with the crisis that is now being revealed. It is the result of the borderline that has appeared between us, our breaking.

And all other actions will indirectly bring us to the realization of the truth that the only thing we need is connection. But the dissemination of this knowledge will help us to shorten the path towards realization, to reveal the true need faster, and to suffer and wonder on this path less.

Question: We mostly work in our local groups. How can we divide our exertion correctly between the work in the group and joint activities with other groups?

Answer: First, we have to try to be part of the general plan, according to which eventually all our groups throughout the world have to feel as one big group. The problem is that we don’t have enough people, specifically project managers. We have to organize the work so that every group should take part in the general process, according to the character of the country and region.

Now for example, the world experiences a period of uprisings, and we have to get all our groups to work in response to it. This, of course, has to be done considering the local conditions, gently, reasonably, and in an understanding way. It cannot be that one group wants to deal with it and another doesn’t. After all, it is the present need. If the world already feels that it’s mutually connected, we have to treat it as a group. It may not understand the situation yet, it may be confused, but it has already been formed.

The spiritual system is being revealed today, Malchut of the world of Assiya, and so everyone already acknowledges global unity. Once it was perceived differently, but now it’s exactly this way. Kabbalists used to say that the wisdom of Kabbalah will be revealed at the end of the 20th century because Malchut of the world of Assiya descends into our world. We can describe it differently: It is revealed from inside, like a net that rises from the bottom of the ocean and closes up on us, the small fish that are caught within it.

This is the situation in the world today. We are in this net, but we are in it willingly, unlike the others because it leads them to a crisis. This is why we have to do our best to explain to those caught in the net: “This isn’t the end of the world at all. We can’t escape this net anymore, don’t even dream about it. We can understand its laws and use them in our favor. If we understand the situation, we will attain pleasure, eternity, wholeness, and a wonderful new life. Things won’t be the same. So let’s see what it’s all about. After all, we have no other choice.”

We have to “advertise” the new reality. Today politicians, experts, and leading scientists already talk about it. This is our work with regards to the world and our groups.

Many of us are still worried about our own problems. A person wants to attain the spiritual world and doesn’t see it in connection to others. I remember how I personally found it hard to digest this idea. I heard and read about it a lot and still couldn’t connect it directly to myself. “What’s written there is one thing, and I am another thing.” A person can use nice words externally, but internally treat the world in a totally different way. So only the general force of the group that operates on all of us together can gradually lead us to the right understanding.

Today we rise to a new level. Previously, everyone made his personal calculations: “If everyone studies, I will join them too, in order to attain spirituality.” Then we began to speak a little about the connection in the group, that it’s the only way by which the spiritual world can be attained. This isn’t simple, and we haven’t totally agreed to that either.

Now we are facing a new and more advanced condition, and we can’t slow down the process of evolution. It doesn’t depend on us. We only agree that if the process is headed in this direction, we will go along with it because there is no other choice.

Today the same problem is revealed all over the world. But it manifests differently in the world and seems to turn it in our direction. People are beginning to suffer from being connected to each other. We want it in the group and at the same time can’t reach this mutual connection. It’s the opposite in the world. The connection ties everyone together against their will. If the group also went in this direction, things would be much easier.

But we don’t see that we are connected to each other. We are living like isolated islands in the ocean of humanity. It discovers a tightly growing connection from which there is no escape, whereas we, in the groups, seem to be totally disconnected.

This is how we are obliged to connect willingly and independently and to build the general network between us. I have to connect it myself. Within the huge network of souls, our groups are free of the strings of the general system. Thus, we are given the opportunity to connect to the network using our own powers and to create these connections. This is our work.

Let’s hope that we can explain this better to ourselves, including those who have “moved aside” because they can’t accept this situation. This is why I have great expectations for the December convention. After all, today the whole world is already mutually tied while we aren’t. This means that it is we who have to get ready for the connection and shout: “Let’s unite!”

We have to see that the world is more corrected than we are. Everyone is connected from Above without any preparation. They are simply “caught in the net.” We, however, have to discover this net and to build it by ourselves, and then our “islands” will draw the whole world to them and will teach it how to function correctly in the new spiritual mechanism.

Let’s hope we will succeed in making an important step in this direction in the coming convention.

Question: A few days ago we held a wonderful dissemination action of giving out newspapers. People immediately started reading them with great interest, which made us extremely happy. How can we retain that happiness and bring it to the December convention?

Answer: We are living in a big world which is rushing toward a new state. People are starting to understand that something has gone awry even though they’re not exactly sure what that is. Every person is yelling about his own concerns, and that is natural. That is how we are built: From the youngest age, we do not even suspect what we are really crying about. People are sounding calls for equality and social justice; the only problem is that everyone has their own idea of justice.

However, the pressure will continue growing and expanding. We will see how the relationships between nations and civilizations will add fuel to the fire and it will get even hotter.

For us, this is a completely clear sign that we have to start acting. With time, people won’t simply wait for new materials from us. They will feel that Light is flowing here, that this is where life lingers. Right now they are inspired by the lively, warm, smart words that are helping them figure out what is happening and to gain at least a slight understanding of what they want, what they are yelling about. By reading about it, they are making an order of things inside of them. A person felt bad, and now he understands exactly what the problem is, what he should aspire to, and what he should be watchful of.

In essence, we are “formatting” or building people from within. But this is only good for a start. Back in your day you were also brought to Kabbalah by a certain inexplicable desire. But then comes a period when the Light has to appear. It is what will bring the changes. We cannot drag this out for too long because otherwise the Light will become revealed in the opposite form, as disasters, epidemics, and other catastrophes on a global scale. A long time ago, the prophets wrote about how dangerous this path is.

Therefore, we have to take care of the Light that reforms. This Light only comes from unity, which does not exist in our world. After all, we are animals, but if we unite the points in our hearts, not our bodies, but precisely these particles of the Creator, our spiritual aspirations, if we try to weld them into one, then we evoke the Light that reforms. It is contained or concealed inside of this unity.

Once this Light appears, it will unite us. Then our dissemination will shift to a new level. It will no longer be newspapers and websites, but we will become revealed in people from within. Without understanding why, they will start asking questions about mutual guarantee and Kabbalah, and will start to look for us under the guiding influence of the Light. You came to the group accidentally, as it were, and likewise, they too will turn around, not exactly in our direction, but in the right direction nevertheless.

The world is moving forward more and more swiftly. And that is a huge mass of people. On one hand, they are feeling worse and worse, and on the other, a good solution is starting to take shape before them. Therefore, the upcoming convention will have to unite our points and reveal the Light which will pour out of us like a spring of living water and fill the whole world. That is exactly what we must achieve.

We have to prepare in such a way that the convention will become a flash of Light, a breakthrough of the spiritual force which will aim the world toward goodness with one blow. Then we will immediately feel how the world is changing, right during the days of the convention and onward.

Question: At the December Convention, we want to celebrate the birth of a new world. What should we concentrate on?

Answer: We must unite for the sake of the values that we want to highlight at the convention. Day by day, we should put more and more effort to feel ourselves living in a new world. We need to play it, imagine it in the relationships between us, in all our thoughts and actions.

As Baal HaSulam writes, we must create a model of the new society, which will form the basis of the new world and will allow everyone to learn from our example. So, let us first discover this new world between us. Then we will see how opportunities that we have never dreamed of open up for us in communal life, industry, commerce, education, and so on.

We don’t really understand these stages, so leave them to the Light. If you do what you can, everything else will work out. Our job is to exert effort, and opportunities will open. All our efforts need to be directed at the new world, new relationships, new society. This work should take each moment of our lives, setting the tone and creating a mood in dissemination, in the preparation for the convention, and in the relationships between the groups so that we feel ourselves as one group more and more….

Every day we should see to the growing unity and bridge the gap between the desired and current reality. If we still see negative phenomena in the world, this means that we have not achieved the correction between us. And this is the only reason.

After all, humanity develops according to what has been prepared for it, while we have freedom of choice and the ability to attract the Light, which then pours onto the entire world and establishes order in it. Thus, the convention is nearing, and everything is very serious.

Question: Why is so much time and effort spent on these questions regarding corporeal life, that is, economic and world crises? As a beginner to the study of Kabbalah, this seems like a contradiction to what we are being told in the beginner classes regarding the “spiritual” and “corporeal” life. Can you provide some clarification, please?

Answer: The single purpose of our existence in this world of imaginary reality felt in the property “to receive” is to discover a true reality felt in the property of love and bestowal. To achieve this we are brought to the teacher and the group so that we, in the effort to unite with them into a single whole, would attract upon ourselves the influence of the upper Light and would reveal the world of bestowal.

Today, in addition to the group, the entire world is being revealed as another group. It discovers the harmful egoism within and gradually realizes that egoism is so evil that it wishes to get itself rid of it. Our task is to tell that it’s possible, to explain how it can be done—not by studying Kabbalah, but our world as a global, integral, and closed system, which is becoming a single whole more and more, as well as to instruct them on how we can build a society of mutual guarantee that would correspond to it.

If we assist them, we grow because we do not have any other mission. Baal HaSulam writes about it in the articles “The Giving of the Torah,” “Mutual Guarantee,” and others.

Question: While we read The Zohar, should we think about uniting with the 99% of humanity or only with those who have a point in the heart?

Answer: We should think about the whole chain: “Israel (the one who aspires to the Creator), the Torah (the Light that Reforms), and the Creator are one.” What’s the purpose of the Torah, the Light that Reforms? The purpose is for the 99% to be corrected. Israel is in the middle in order to organize this Light, bring it to the vessels (desires), and create a connection between their desires and the desires of the nations of the world so that the Light will pass through this adapter or transition and correct the nations of the world. In essence, the nations of the world are the object of influence; namely they need to be corrected.

Israel went through the breaking, passed the whole necessary preparation, and now also exists in the worst possible, broken state after intermixing with and becoming included in all the nations of the world. In addition, we still don’t know what happened to the ten lost tribes of Israel. All of this was necessary in order to bring the source of the upper Light in accordance with the nations of the world.

There should be an adapter in the middle, like Bina between Malchut and Hochma with Keter. Keter is the Thought of Creation; Hochma is the Light given to the creatures by the Thought of Creation; and Bina understands, receives, feels, and adapts the execution of this plan for the creatures with the help of its upper and lower Sefirot (GAR de Bina and ZAT de Bina).

Therefore, Israel as a whole is called “Bina.” On one hand, they should make themselves similar to the Creator since they were prepared for this by the “merits of the patriarchs.” On the other, after their breaking, the destruction of the two Temples in spirituality, and their intermixing with the nations of the world in exile, they have the readiness to also be included in the latter. Thus they can be in GAR de Bina, which is us in the process of our studies while in connection between us and the Creator, as well as in ZAT de Bina, which is us interacting with the nations of the world, their education, the dissemination of the science of Kabbalah to them, and so on.

However, on their own the nations of the world are ZON, which require correction. These ZON that require correction also have our part, Zeir Anpin within them, and a part of Malchut, which is only them. Therefore, they also have already been included in Bina.

Thus, when we study, work, and realize any actions, we should also take into account the whole system. The end of an action is in its initial thought, and we need to see this whole creation, understand how we fit into it, and realize the Creator’s order—our mission.

Doomed to submit to society, we go through our entire lives so that others will profit at our expense. At the end of the day, they don’t gain anything from this. They are unhappy in their own way since they too are within this cycle.

But today a system of general interconnection is being revealed to us, and it exposes all the problems of the previous, egoistic system. The gap created as a result of this will lead to serious tumults that are greater than those we see today.

People will begin to understand that the entire current system is built in such a way that it just “sucks the blood” from them every single moment. We are all exposed to the constant, psychological manipulation of the big egoists, “the great of this world.” And by the way, they are also in line for manipulation by the general system, but at a different level of hierarchy.

I am worried that eventually this revelation will result in an outburst of feelings and that from then on, we will move towards fraternal wars and a world war. A revolution begins when a person’s eyes open up: It turns out that he is taken advantage of unjustly, and without his agreement. He can not accept that. He senses the disclosure of the “snake” that sucks his veins in a very shrewd way; he feels that his “I,” his ego, his honor, is injured. He is ready to do anything in order to destroy this “poisonous snake,” even if it costs him his life.

I hope that we go in a different direction because this way has great suffering awaiting us. We need to discover everything is the Creator’s Light. We must attract the Light that Reforms, and it will show us how to arrange everything.

And as to the “explosion” scenario, we must take it to those who have power and influence so that they will see what may happen if things go wrong. Then they will want to participate in the dissemination of the knowledge of mutual guarantee and the education of people. However in any case, this integral education roots in our inner force, and it will drip like an infusion into the circulatory system of the world.

Question: How do we connect the structure of the universe we are studying with the development of the current crisis?

Answer: Malchut of the world of Infinity has divided into an enormous number of separate egoistic pieces, which now must acquire their common structure.

How do they do it? We do not know and cannot know this structure—it is very complicated. Eventually it will become revealed to us. But there is an enormous number of connections between us, and we have to “restore” these connections. We restore them when we work with one another, disseminate, and unite.

This is exactly what we have to do. This is our objective, and this is what the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks of.

The current crisis, on one hand, is the revelation of the system of the common interconnection (colored red in the drawing), but on the other, it is the demonstration of the fact that we are egoists and do not wish to be connected with one another. Every one of us is a separate egoist.

So what do we do? The crisis appears because we are separate egoists, but the actual system is altruistic. Where can we hide from each other? Nowhere. No props will help us fix this crisis now, even though in Europe they have been thinking a lot about finding a solution. But they are not able to think of anything because the only thing that can be done is to restore an integrated system of connections between us. We will not be able to achieve anything without restoring it.

The entire problem is for the upper Light to start operating between us, and we could open the path for it through ourselves towards one another. This is called mutual guarantee. I reveal the Light for you, you for me, and thus we reveal it for one another, until the Light fills the entire volume of the world of Infinity.

Today we are in the beginning of the path. We must do all of this together. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah exists for. This is why we go out to the streets and try explaining this to people.

The extent to which they will join us will make it easier for us to open all leaves and valves on the path of the upper Light. I hope that in this way we will quickly come closer to solving the crisis. We have a medicine, a remedy for it. We simply need to fully reveal it for us and the others and start using it.

Good luck to you in this. I hope instead of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, we will feel it going through us.
