So far, we are unable to play the game customary among the Kabbalists of the past, who were way above the Machsom. As opposed to us, they pretended that they were not at all concerned about bestowal since they were already in it. By acting so, they were giving each other a chance to feel the depth of the desire before it even appeared to them.

In order to ascend to the next degree, one has to correct the additional portion of the desire that has already been revealed to him. In the beginning, it appears to us as darkness or evil. At any given step, an egoistic side made by the Creator shows up first. The second condition, “I created the Torah as a spice to correct it,” comes next.

If a person asks for correction, the Surrounding Light (Ohr Makif) descends to him from the next degree and corrects him in response to his MAN.

If our ascent is a result of the revelation from Above of the evil inclination made by the Creator, then in order to accelerate our advancement, we can pretend that spirituality doesn’t mean a thing to us. If we act so, each of us will have a chance to overcome this disdain. It’s because when I receive such hardening of the heart, I want to escape spiritual work. So my friends deliberately concoct this internal condition for me in order to accelerate my advancement. This is the game we all will play after we enter spirituality.

Meantime, this state is still ahead of us. We don’t play the “adult games” as of now, but on the contrary, are inspired and have high spirits. I play in front of my friend as if I already have reached the upper degree. I have to demonstrate to him that everything is great, so where are you? It’s as if I urge my friend to rise as fast as possible.

The beginners have to be very cautious of their words and of activities that don’t excel the goal. Thus, we all have to inspire each other by the greatness of our spiritual purpose. We never work against the power of bestowal by enhancing others’ resistance, but rather push each other towards bestowal. Therefore, we have to be very cautious and by all means avoid being light-minded.

All our activities and conversations as well as the games we play with ourselves or with our friends (whether internal or external) have to be strictly oriented towards the goal. As little children who want to grow up and become adults, we should never make obstacles for each other. We should only push each other forward by setting the right example.

Question: What do I have to aspire to, the greatness of the friends or equality with them? What is the true connection?

Answer: You have to aspire for unity with the friends, as one man in one heart. You rise above them in order to impress them with the message of the greatness of the goal, and you lower your head before them in order to receive the message of the greatness of the goal.

Otherwise, it will be as if you are equal, as if you neutralize one another, which means that you don’t impress one another. It is easiest to be “equal” to one another by turning our back to one another: “This is yours and this is mine.” Then I don’t compare what you have with what I have. Even if we just pretend to be equal, I still live calmly and have no complaints.

But true equality means that we want to connect and to impress one another with the greatness of the Creator as much as possible. In order to do that, we annul ourselves and value the society as much as possible. So all of us, who are created so differently from one another by the Creator, become truly equal, equal with regard to the goal.

If we yearn to bestow upon one another, if we yearn to subdue ourselves before the friends, if we yearn to ascend and to see the Creator as greater, if we only yearn for Him, if we want to connect, to restrict ourselves, to annul ourselves and to adhere to Him, we become equal by that. Eventually our goal is to connect with Him. By incorporating with Him, we all become equal even in the attributes by which we differ from birth. It is the Creator who has made us different and so by incorporating in Him the inequality disappears.

If a person includes two roots, his ego that so far has been simply a corporeal ego and now turns into a real evil inclination and a spiritual spark, this is already a preparation for two lines. Without this he doesn’t even have one line, since one line indicates that that there is another line, another direction.

Without it, it is simply a desire to receive that belongs to the animal level, while the human level begins when two lines begin to grow in a person, as it says: “God has created them one in contrast to the other.” Then the third line appears, which decides between the first two lines; a Light comes from Above and ties the left and the right lines according to a person’s work, and builds the form of a human.

So a human is created when these two elements appear in him: a desire to receive and in contrast to it the spiritual spark. His desire to receive isn’t just a corporeal desire for this life that looks for ways to use others and to profit more. It already gives birth to questions a person has according to the spark that illuminates on him and demands him to ask: “What is the meaning of my life and what I should do with it?” This means that his desire is already aimed at complaining to the Creator in the left line.

When a person begins to develop these two lines, he reaches a group. First he doesn’t understand what he needs it for. He begins to study, and in the meantime he doesn’t know why. But then the two lines develop in him.

He begins to go through different states for the first time: ascents and descents. The first stage of preparation ends when he understands that the importance of the goal has to be above every private state he feels.

He may be in such a critical state that his life is in danger, but he still has to be above this state, as it says: “Even if a sharp sword is placed on his neck, he shouldn’t despair of mercy.” This means that you still have to be above that feeling.

It is the same in the opposite state: No matter which state of greatness he may feel, which makes him recognize the greatness of the goal, whether a state of elation, love for the friends, euphoria, he must still understand that it all happens because he is given an illumination from Above and he is like a small kid under the full domination of the upper force.

There is no need to annul or to suppress these states in you, like people who sometimes repress their joy in order to seem more serious. Here a person should try to intensify and to deepen these states as much as he can, both the fear and the gratitude, both his ego and his adhesion to bestowal. But he himself should want to be above these feelings, in order to examine them and to control them.

Usually, we are afraid of war as if it were the most frightening thing. But the threat isn’t in that. The threat is in the response of nature: It can suddenly respond with such tsunamis, eruptions of volcanoes, or earthquakes that any atomic war will seem like a little toy.

However, in principle, the world is beginning to grasp what is happening, and today it’s already possible to talk and see that a broad audience understands the need for integral education at least. It is more difficult with upbringing: People still can’t imagine how it can be done since we are speaking about a large mass of people.

However, the Internet and the rest of the network services can, if desired, yield almost immediate results. If we examine this in groups of a few hundred people, we see that within a few lessons, people actually begin to understand their state and change drastically.

The matter is that we are mutually interconnected, meaning that 1) a common network connects all of humanity, 2) within us, it connects the flora, the fauna, and the still parts of nature, and 3) all these four spheres are interconnected. Thus when we, our students, our organization, the people who understand and feel think about and live this, then this is what happens. We see a great influence on the world.

In other words, the world is beginning to discover quite clearly this integral mutual connection whereby our thoughts and desires begin to work for one another. This is why in this network that is concealed from us, our inner work is also very important.

Question: What is the indication that a person advances along the three lines and that he isn’t just deceiving himself, as if justifying the Creator in everything?

Answer: The indication of advancement is that he doesn’t just say “thank God” about everything, but that he sometimes finds himself in situations where he cannot immediately justify the Creator, although a true hero who is already high in spirituality does feel so. We have to reach a great correction in order to constantly examine ourselves and to have the powers to thank the Creator for all the evil as for all the good.

Until then, there is a long way to go through many states. Sometimes a person finds himself in such states that he cannot agree with the upper Providence, doesn’t want it and doesn’t accept it. The left line is revealed and in it “Pharaoh,” evil, begins to speak.

We have to allow time for all the evil the Torah speaks about to be revealed in us, all the sins. When a person falls into such a state of sin, he says exactly what the Torah tells us: “Who is the Creator that I should listen to Him?” He curses the Creator, and takes the place of all the famous villains: Bil’am, Balak, Haman, since he has to discover all of the left line.

If he enters the right line from the start, not in order to “salve his wounds with honey,” but in order to advance, then he leaves the left line by that. Then he manages the two lines. Otherwise it isn’t called the right line, but just a state of serenity. A line is something that is limited on both sides.

Rabash’s article “What is thou shall not add and shall not derogate in the work”: A person who wants to follow the path of the truth has to allow a certain amount of time for the right path, and then he needs to follow the left line. About this we are commanded that it is forbidden to add to one of the paths more than to the other, and vice versa, if one says that today I want to follow the left line. The right path is called the phase of wholeness, when a person can be very grateful to the Creator. Then he needs to switch to the left line, to the left path, which is the time to see his real state, as it seems to him within reason. Then there is room for a prayer, since a prayer belongs to a place of a deficiency. And the greater the deficiency, the deeper from the heart is the prayer. As it says: “From the depths I called for you God.” So the two lines have to be balanced, “until the third one comes and decides between them.” Then after working in two lines, a person is rewarded with adhesion to the Creator.

The third line, the middle line, is built by the first two lines. In the first line, the right line, I thank the Creator and increase his greatness as much as I can, as much as I was impressed by the environment, the friends and the study and can imagine the Creator as great, as omnipotent, as good and benevolent, and merciful. The right line is infinite wholeness.

Then in the left line I see my true state, which means to what extent I don’t feel all that: I don’t feel that the Creator is great and that He bestows and is good and whole.

Then comes the third line from my desire to have the chance to really see the Creator as great and whole within my reason and to truly thank Him and not only in faith above reason. Then comes the third line and decides between the first two lines and thus advances a person along the middle line.

In response to such a desire the Creator gives us the power to advance and then a person attains Him. But he attains Him in faith above reason, in gratitude. Then he can already continue onwards, by constantly advancing along three lines, right, left, and middle.

In the middle line he asks that his left line be like the right line. He feels the Creator’s greatness and his own lowliness and his feeling of deficiency is born from these two lines, the left and the right—a prayer that is answered by a filling by the revelation of the Creator’s greatness.

His right and left lines are connected by that and the third line is born, the middle line. Thus a person takes a step forward, to the extent that he can raise the Creator’s greatness even higher, and then switch to the left line and see what it looks like within his reason. Then a prayer is born in him and he demands help from Above: the third line.

The first two lines depend on a person, and the third line comes from Above.

Question: How should I express my self-annulment before the friends externally?

Answer: I may annul myself on purpose before the friends, even in an exaggerated manner, to set an example for others. There are those who are too shy to behave that way, which means that their ego will not let them, since how else can shyness be created?

So they cannot annul themselves before the friends, and, by setting an example for them, it is easier for them to do so. It will also be easier for me if I understand and know that I do it only to set an example.

The ego needs some compensation, some justification. Now, I play the lowly, just like an actor in a theater, but I calm myself that I really am not like that. However, even in such situations, the Light operates on me and reforms me.

So, gradually, a “habit becomes second nature.” A habit is the impression of the Light on my actions that brings me another nature.

When we begin to read The Book of Zohar we should notice two lines everywhere. But where? And should I evoke the left line?

We have already said that we only evoke the right line, as it says in Kabbalistic sources: “Always start from the right,” which means from the Light of Hassadim, in bestowal, in love, in connection, as if you are already in a completely corrected state and the left line doesn’t control anything; it is gone and we don’t see it; it is all controlled by the right.

We have to try and deal only with the right line by wanting to reveal infinite love and bestowal by the Light that Reforms, asking that it will illuminate on our connection with The Book of Zohar. We can read as if we simply read what is written, “counting the letters.” And there is connection with the text when I want to connect with the force that is concealed there, with the Light that Reforms, so that it will illuminate on me and change me. This Light evokes the left line in me, by illuminating on me and impressing me, thus evoking different interruptions, confusions, and thoughts that are different from love and connection.

Then, despite these interruptions, I have to try and feel love and bestowal and ask for correction so that the two lines will connect. I am not asking that the “evil will die” but that “they reform.” This is how we advance.

This means that I don’t have to worry about the left line. If I advance correctly in the right line, the left line is sure to appear. But when it appears, I have to make sure that I will control the right and it will control the left. This means that the left line doesn’t disappear; the evil inclination remains, but I turn it into a good inclination by creating the right cover for it from the right line, the intention of in order to bestow.

This is actually what we want to happen. So, in reading The Zohar we have to constantly think only about the love and connection among us. And we work with whatever is revealed.

Question: How can I try to feel others, if I only feel myself?

Answer: If a person discovers that he only feels himself, then that is already a big achievement. Now he has to only understand that with this feeling of himself he will always remain in this world. This perception is called this world.

If a person understands that, then that is already the achievement. When we discover that we only feel ourselves and via that we perceive the rest of what is within us, then that is called the feeling of this world. This is already not a simple state.

Now I need to listen to what is written in the books of Kabbalah, which claim that the spiritual world is found beyond this feeling, external to myself, in others, and think about how to feel others instead of myself.

Everything felt by me now exists only within me and not in reality. Externally are only images, pictures that are depicted in me. And the question that stands before me now is “How can I exit myself? “

For this I am given friends, the group, so that through mutual activities, we will stimulate the Light that will help us exit ourselves outwards to them. This is called the transition outside our “selfish interests.”

Question: On what does our sensitivity to awakening that is activated from Above depend?

Answer: We are constantly awakened from above, and if you only knew to what intensity! But this manipulation is done at a frequency that we don’t feel, like ultraviolet or infrared radiation.

In order to feel this wavelength, I need to calibrate my hearing via the group. Otherwise I won’t hear anything. If I correctly organize the group, thanks to this, I receive opportunities to listen, to feel the upper influence.

Everything depends on how I awaken and support the friends, how I treat them, and worry that they receive spiritual revelation. We need to help also on the corporeal level, but mainly to raise their spirits, to inspire them about the importance of the goal and the Creator. If I gently worry that everything will be for the other, I myself am impressed from them and advance together with them.

There is no other way to advance, only ”the detour,” the alternate route through the group and not directly.
