Question: Evolutionary scientists see the structure and order of evolution but not its goal, and that is why they stumble. For example, an artificially planted pine tree forest destroys the natural vegetation, and, as a result, itself wilts away from diseases.

It becomes clear that we should allow nature to establish its own order. How can we explain this not only in terms of biology, but in terms of global education as well?

Answer: In other words, the question is about how to correct ourselves in a natural, correct way so that a person, as opposed to those pine trees, does not destroy his or her environment. In order for this to happen, he must grow like a “tree in the field,” meaning to feed only off its environment. The environment takes the first place; the environment is the main turning point; the environment is everything. And a person must connect into it, flow into it. This is the real law of development.

After all, the goal is for the whole of humanity to become a unified mechanism. In the right arrangement, one does not perceive himself or herself as a separate element growing outside of this mechanism, but is constantly searching for possibilities to be absorbed, to integrate more and more into it. This form of development is truly flawless.

Question: I understand that gradually, the points in the hearts will become revealed, and all people will come to the wisdom of Kabbalah. Can we say that if at a certain stage a critical mass is reached, the process will become simultaneous rather than gradual?

Answer: It is indeed so. Any organism has a defense mechanism: If a certain percentage of its systems function correctly, the rest recover under their influence. If we achieve our critical mass, the entire world will feel it instantly.

It is as if the waves will wash over people, and they will begin to understand and sense more. They will suddenly see that this is the truth. It will manifest both in their hearts and minds and they will accept it naturally, without knowing where this sensation came from. And it will come from the connection between us.

Question: How can the women unite their desires in order to “pressure” the men?

Answer: Don’t pressure the men openly. Do you want them to run away from you? Indeed, at home a wife “pressures” her husband quietly, without words, and he does everything that’s needed. Women have it by nature.

And men have this “weakness”: They want to be heroes in the women’s eyes. It gives a woman power to play with this male weakness and direct a man correctly so that he will fulfill her desires. These things are natural and well-known to psychologists.

We are adults and understand our nature well. We have the goal that is above our nature, and we only need to learn how to use all the qualities instilled in us correctly.

If I can advance toward the goal thanks to my wife who encourages me in every possible way, praises me for waking up every morning for the lesson, and is proud of my spiritual achievements, it will definitely help me on the path! After all, a man is like a little boy next to his mother.

The women have to unite their desires for spirituality into one, big, strong desire and pressure “one,” “big,” “aggregate” man. We, the men, hope that we will feel your desire!

Question: When we try to unite, do the points in the hearts of the women unite between themselves, while the points in the hearts of the men also unite together, or is it not important?

Answer: All the souls connect together because all of us are the single soul. In his articles, Baal HaSulam explains that there is only one soul in the world, which consists of male and female parts. And both of these parts create between themselves the connection that warrants the conception of life.

In our world a man and a woman together give birth to their continuation: sons and daughters. In the spiritual world, by connecting together, we beget our new degree that is also called a “son” or a “daughter.” It turns out that the Creator is between us, as it is said: “Husband and wife and the Shechina between them.” As a result, the three unite and become one whole—and this is our next degree.

Hence, the women face the same task as the men, and even more so because a woman has a Hissaron (unfulfilled desire). She obligates a man to advance, to leave the house and earn a living, to support the family, and be responsible. The same happens in spirituality.

Therefore, we, the men, are very hopeful that the women will take upon themselves the responsibility for our spiritual progress, be more active, and pressure us even more. It’s because the desire comes from the female part, whereas the men realize it. However, without the female desire the men cannot carry it out.

This is why the women have to unite their forces so as to demand from the men that they truly unite between themselves, which will bring the Light to the female desire. Hence, we have to work together.

Question: We make many external actions, but what is the right way to behave on the internal level?

Answer: Externally we must only do whatever helps our inner work.

I have to support a normal existence for myself in this world. That is every person’s obligation! However, all my other actions, desires, and thoughts have to be directed to the point of contact with spirituality. According to that, I have to check in the group, at home, at work, and with myself: What am I doing with my life?

The science of Kabbalah does not require a person to be an angel. But a person who wants to advance has to look for means to increase his efforts and strengthen connections in order to advance faster and more efficiently.

In essence, there is no incident, action, or event in a person’s life that could not be used to benefit his spiritual development. He only has to know how to realize it because there is nothing accidental. Everything has a reason: It all comes from above intentionally and on purpose. You only have to be attentive to the game that the Creator is playing with us. If we don’t think deeply about what is happening to us, then we end up ignoring what the Creator is trying to say to us!

In other words, nature (or the Creator, which is the same thing, one law and plan) awakens new information, Reshimot in us at every moment. These Reshimot are dysfunctional and we have to bring them back – from the left side and the right – to the point of unity. I must constantly check whether my intention is correct, and this is my entire work.

If I am focused on this in my desire and thought, then I can work at any job for any number of hours, and carry out any actions. This does not bother me!

Letters in spirituality are a system of correction, a template that has to gradually clothe us, lending us its shape. Like in typography, they print their outlines onto us, in the right order and correct combination of all the necessary elements.

At the end we will assume the same shape as the upper Light in Infinity. The spiritual imprint of the letters lies on the matter of our desire, until it becomes similar to the Light.

The system of correction formed as a result of the breaking in the worlds, and that’s why it contains all types of combinations of Bina and Malchut, which we have to adopt. This system was deliberately built in order to adapt to the correction of souls.

And then the soul Adam HaRishon broke so that the letters, meaning our corrected forms, would become equivalent to our uncorrected matter. Now the Light can come through the letters and clothe in various forms that we are able to take.

This mechanism is the universal basis for all corrections in all the worlds, including ours. If we want to act properly, if we delve into the depth, seeking to find the right way, we will eventually come to this exact system which somewhat resembles the higher system of correction. This is the way we’re built, and we don’t have the opportunity to conceive something other than this.

This is a good indication of whether we are acting in the right direction, whether we understand the true flaw and the means of its correction. Even during the very first steps we can check ourselves against this system.

Even to study Einstein’s theory or quantum physics, we need a new approach with another kind of math and other phenomena. The principle applies all the more so to the spiritual world, where we need additional sensory organs and our standard five senses and our mind, which operates by the same scheme, are insufficient.

Our animate sensations are limited, but which way are we to expand them? We must develop the point in the heart into a new dimension. Then, next to the familiar human being of this world, a new creature will emerge.

We already have its root within us. Now we only need to draw the upper Light, a special energy which will cultivate this seed, this spiritual gene, into an additional human being whom we will call man. Kabbalists also call this a soul.

When we identify ourselves with it, from its qualities, continuously changing as a result of our work, we will begin to attain the world pertaining to this new creature, deliberately developed by us in order to investigate the upper one with its help. It will be called our soul existing in the spiritual world.

And this additional human being can continue developing gradually until it spans the entire universe. It possesses unlimited sensory organs, desires, and opportunities!

We are born animals, and the expansion of our sensory spectrum is limited to telescopes, eyeglasses, and the like because our mind does not change but works precisely according to its nature. That is why we still pertain to the animate level, whereas “man” is the spiritual entity that we will build beside ourselves. In it, our entire perception may change.

It will change so greatly that from state to state, from one spiritual degree to another, we won’t even recognize ourselves or our world which will suddenly be revealed to us! Each time we will suddenly become somebody else, not the same as even a moment ago, unable to recognize the world around us, for everything will be brand new!

Indeed, as opposed to this world, all my senses—the mind and the heart—will be changing. They won’t simply grow; rather, they will completely replace the system of coordinates, the entire perception, to the extent that whoever is at a lower degree cannot possibly understand the upper one.

Just as here we work with our senses so as to reveal nature, the same principle applies in spirituality, and it is also called a “natural science,” except here nature is lower, corporeal, whereas there it is higher, spiritual. But the scientific method remains the same.

Obviously, the scientists of this world won’t accept this because they work only in their five corporeal senses, and so they will not consider it a science. Naturally, if someone is limited by some tiny sphere of perception, only willing to accept that and nothing else, there’s no use in arguing.

Question: If I only see my desires, how can it be that I notice desires that I don’t want to detect whatsoever?

Answer: If we only saw the desires we want to see, we wouldn’t be able to reveal the truth. I develop only because our reality divides into good and evil, truth and falsehood, me and others, me and the group, enemies and friends. In essence, this division into opposite qualities stems from the Light and desire.

The Light is the quality of bestowal, the Creator, good that does good, and His complete oppositeness is the point of desire to receive for oneself, for one’s own pleasure. As these two opposite qualities, which are the only elements existing in nature, interact and exert influence over one another, the desire accumulates different impressions.

These impressions are called “worlds,” and all that exists in the spiritual forces and in our corporeal world originates from this tiny point created by the Light. This point received an impression from its oppositeness to the Light, and it is this point that we must return to its opposite state called a “drop of unity.”

We need to stay focused on one thought: unity between us. We are learning everything from nature since there is nothing artificial in Kabbalah. Kabbalists are research physicists of the upper world. They revealed its laws and tell us what’s happening to us.

They reveal that in the spiritual world we are all connected, only not through physical bodies but through inner connections. In this material world each one of us has a spark of this connection, a small desire for spirituality.

Each person’s desire for spirituality is placed within his ego, and for this reason it’s called “the point in the heart.” This point is surrounded by the dark egoistic heart, and hence I don’t feel that my spark wants to connect to any other sparks.

If we could see into the spiritual world, the spiritual degrees, we would discover that all of our sparks are connected together and become one general Kli or desire. On an even higher spiritual degree, these sparks are even more connected, and instead of the Light of Nefesh, the soul is filled with the Light of Ruach. On an even higher degree, they are connected even more, and therefore attain the Light of Neshama, and so on.

There is nothing but the connection of these sparks that already exist in us! This is why the wisdom of Kabbalah addresses them in particular. Our thoughts should be focused only on how to connect our desires for spirituality. If we succeed even to a small extent, we will reach the revelation of the Creator to His creatures.

You must understand that those escaping from Egypt were no better than us. This is an escape from egoism, from Pharaoh, in the darkness and uncertainty, together with women, children, the elderly, and the slaves. This is our state exactly, and there is no such person who isn’t right for this. This is possible achieve.

Everything depends only on our efforts. After all, the only free action we can make is to get inspired by the environment.

I’m responsible for my environment. Only I can awaken it, not the Creator. If we develop a desire to connect to everyone and receive the influence of the environment, it would do the job! “We shall do and we shall hear”!
