We Must Feel the Creator

938.05

Question: Rabash and Baal HaSulam constantly write in their articles that only the Creator can help us. Each of us spends years trying to persuade, plead, or pressure the Creator in every possible way until we reach a state of disappointment in our own strength and come to a true plea from the depths of the heart. But that is a personal effort.

And now we all want to reach the state of “one unified heart.” What is the depth of this heart from which a true common prayer is born?

Answer: The unified heart is a unified desire that each of you, each one of you in particular, connects with the hearts of the others. You raise this collective desire to the Creator so that He would take it and begin to work with it.

I believe we are moving correctly and are close to this. Perhaps in this congress we will already feel the connection of the Creator with us.

Question: So we may feel it or we may not?

Answer: No, we must feel Him. We are practically already in Him, and we must feel Him in such a way that through our greater or smaller desires, through our connections with one another, we begin to interact with Him, that is, manage our connection with Him.

Question: When a person receives a true, stable connection with the Creator, can he mistake it for something else?

Answer: In general, no.

A Continuous Request to the Creator

528.04Question: Why is the plan of creation arranged in such a way that bestowal gives rise to resistance?

Answer: In order for us to reach the correct direction in our desire and intention, we need both the forces that move us forward and the forces that push us away from advancement.

Therefore, we must clearly understand the state we should be in now: in a continuous request to the Creator to unite among ourselves and with Him.

Question: How do we clarify our common desire in order to turn to the Creator in the right way?

Answer: By talking with one another. When you read excerpts from articles of Baal HaSulam and discuss them, common desires arise in you with which you turn to the Creator and ask for advancement.

Approach the Creator

939.01Question: How is a true prayer connected with love for one’s friends?

Answer: A true prayer can exist only through the aspiration to connect with one’s friends. There is no other way.

So let us define this state in which we are completely united with one another and with the Creator.
When we build this state within us and direct it toward the Creator, we will feel how much closer it brings us to Him. At that point, we can pause and examine whether we have truly come closer to Him or not.

If we have drawn nearer in some measure, what do we do next? Once again, we raise our desire to the Creator in yearning to be together with Him. In this way, we constantly move forward in relation to the Creator, drawing ever nearer to Him.

The Right Intention

947Question: How does the study of primary sources tune our inner instruments and form a prayer from the depth of the heart?

Answer: The fact is that within the primary sources, just as within your heart, the Creator is present.

If you attune yourself to the primary sources and to the voice of your heart, you practically connect with the Creator. You simply need to ask Him for it. And you must ask so that from within your own feelings, you can form this connection with Him.

Everything is open before you. Ask.

What Is the Essence of Prayer?

945Question: It feels like we lack the words for prayer. Does prayer express itself through words or through feelings?

Answer: The prayer is revealed in the process of searching for those feelings within me that can connect with the Creator and how I turn to Him.

Those states, those requests are the very desires I want to uncover in order to attain the Creator.

Question: So this happens only within me?

Answer: Yes, only within you.

Question: How can I feel that not only my life but also the lives of my friends depend on my prayer?

Answer: You simply need to deepen your thoughts about how connected you must be with all your friends, at least during the congress. Then you will begin to sense, to some extent, the force of connection you wish to attain.

How Can You Attain Contact with the Creator?

938.04Question: During prayer, you reach a certain point that is very difficult to overcome. What should you do to feel that you are in contact with the Creator?

Answer: The easiest way to attain contact with the Creator is through connection with your friends. In other words, it is enough to be included in your ten, and then from within the ten, direct your combined strength toward the Creator so that He will draw you all to Himself.

You will feel how He literally pulls you in and does not let you go.

The Perfection of Prayer

938.03Question: What is the perfection of our prayer?

Answer: It lies in the certainty that if we reach the right kind of prayer, the Creator will surely answer it. In this way, we attain the goal. We will understand this through the states we go through as each one leads us closer to adhesion with the Creator.

Question: How is this different from our current states?

Answer: The point is that we still have no true connection with the Creator. Feeling that some force governs us does not mean we are connected with it.

We call out to it, we feel that we lack it, that without it we are completely abandoned, but if we persistently strike at one point, we will certainly achieve adhesion with the Creator.

To Make Our Hearts Like the Creator’s

938.02Question: Besides uniting at congresses, raising a common prayer, working in tens and dissemination, attending lessons, and reading the sources, what else can we as a community and as individuals do to bring Israel to correction and become an example for the whole world?

Answer: We must ask the Creator for unity, to show us the unified point of connection among us so that we always have such a center of connection, and that only this would be important to us.

Question: How can we now make our hearts similar to the Creator’s so that He may dwell in our shared heart?

Answer: We need to imagine the connection between our hearts, and from this collective heart, raise a prayer.

In principle, it is not so far from us. Let’s try to do it together and discover where else we can draw closer to one another.

The Purpose of the Prayer

236.01Question: When a person faces utterly ugly situations that cause great pain, he can understand that this pain gives him the conditions to work with the heart for the right kind of prayer. But when he keeps striking through this pain in prayer, he realizes he has no strength left. How can he remove himself from this pain and use it as a condition for the proper prayer for everyone?

Answer: A person must realize where this feeling of pain comes from—from the Creator. Why? Because despite his thoughts, the person is actually close to the Creator.

Therefore, we must strive toward the point of connection with the Creator. And when we reach it, we must leave ourselves behind and envision ourselves fused with the Creator.

That is the purpose of our prayer.

Unite in a Common Desire

942Question: We try so hard to unite our desires that we often get confused. Should we somehow soften our hearts so that they can unite or should we make our common aspiration so strong that it breaks through the boundary between us?

Answer: At one time I used to write down the demands that arose in me while reading the articles without yet knowing how it would be possible to unite all these desires, directions, and intentions together with the friends and become included in them, until I felt that it is precisely our common desire that can unite us with one another and with the Creator.

You now have all the opportunities for this. Nothing else is needed except to imagine that you are connected with one another and with the Creator.
