New Life 495 – How Can We Control Luck?

New Life 495 – How Can We Control Luck?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Life in modern times is very dynamic and by nature we are forced to balance it with  confidence and control so that in various life situations we will be happy to feel doors are open before us. How can we control luck?

Leading figures in politics, wealthy people, or world leaders would be very happy to maintain their positions, but we are gradually discovering that the world today operates according to different laws that do not depend on them. Our growing awareness requires the world to change with regard to us, but reality, or what you may call fate or luck, invites us to change and to develop.

A Little Bit of Luck

The word “luck,” “Mazel” in Hebrew, stems from the root “to drip”, and refers to a force that drips on us bit by bit and guides us to develop in the right way, helping us to advance correctly toward the spiritual goal. According to the Torah, we can control our fate or our luck according to the rule that Israel are above the stars and fate. What does that mean?

Israel refers to every person who aims at Yashar-El, which means at resembling the Creator, the general upper force of nature, the good and benevolent force, the force of love and giving. A person aims at that goal like a pilot who checks all the data he has while preparing for and during a flight: the different pressures, his location, the route, etc. He constantly adjusts his path and navigates in order to bring the passengers safely to their destination.

A person who wants to discover the upper force and to improve his life also constantly checks himself every step of the way. When he is ready to advance toward the spiritual goal the luck force puts delicate pressure on him, guiding him and enabling him to advance smoothly. The same luck force continues to guide him toward the final destination, fine tuning his advancement more and more. A person who focuses on the goal correctly feels that the luck force pushes him forward in a nice and pleasant manner.

The Changing Technique

What is it exactly that the luck force guides? Here is some background: man is basically a desire to receive pleasure and joy, an egoist who cannot easily change his desires and his perspective. This is where the luck force, the developing force, comes in. The luck force helps a person feel and understand the need for a change; this force helps a person change his attitude.

Luck gradually turns the egoistic desire to receive pleasure at the expense of others to a desire to give and to love others. The more a person changes his perception, the more loving he becomes and the more he begins to see and feel a better more beautiful world. This transition sounds unnatural, and rightly so. After all, it is about restarting a person’s attitude.

So how can we prepare ourselves to changing our luck for the better? According to the wisdom of Kabbalah it is possible only if we organize the right environment, which will promote values of love of others. Such an environment is built of a group of friends who have a clear goal toward which everyone helps each other advance more easily, more gladly, and by mutually supporting each other. Thus a person acquires the luck that helps him advance consciously, and gradually develops more love and giving to others, a new attitude to himself and to his environment.

Heaven on Earth

A person can develop during his lifetime. A person’s internal development from egoistic self-love, called this world, is a natural, normal state from which we begin to live our lives. We can develop toward our ideal state, toward the goal of love of others, and use the luck force correctly. Changing our attitude toward others and feeling greater love and bestowal is called the next world.

The change a person undergoes by changing his intention from self-love to love of others is called the transition from this world to the next world. In this state a person begins to feel that he is unlimited, about to enter heaven. There are no limits to love and bestowal, and a person feels that he is in an infinite dimension in which everything is good, for his own good.

In summary, the goal of life is to teach us to love, no more, no less. The more we try to resemble the force of love and giving, the more will be worthy of being called Israel, straight toward the upper force, and the more the luck force will operate on us, helping us gradually connect to the upper force, to heaven, without any limitations, until we feel eternity and wholeness.

New Life #375 – Spiritual Nourishment

New Life #375 – Spiritual Nourishment
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What kind of additional hunger is awakened in us when we sit for a meal together, what is a spiritual meal and nourishment, and how is it possible to host this well so that we will feel connected around the table?

Summary

A family meal is the place for connection between members of the family.

In preparing meals we concentrate on recipes. It is worthwhile to add instructions for connection during a meal. Spices add substances to our bodies that a body requires.

If we connect during a meal, we feed each other with spiritual food. Basically, what we eat is not important.

A meal creates a connection, mutual fulfillment of human tastes. It is important to listen to, to understand and to communicate with each other. Create an atmosphere of connection and love. It is necessary to plan how to make everyone happy, how to make a connection, warmth, and an atmosphere of satisfaction. Then besides tasting the food, we taste the spirit between us. This is what will satisfy our souls.

The host must give the guests a sensation that he is not the landowner, that this place is theirs, that he has immense pleasure from their having come to him, that he is here only to serve them, that he has been thinking about them. But also he must pay attention not to make them feel ashamed. How? Dress as a guest and check how he feels.

New Life #374 – Food: An Experience For All The Senses

New Life #374 – Food: An Experience For All The Senses
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

How has food become the center of our life everywhere in the world, and how do smells, tastes, and sitting together at a meal bring people together?

Summary

The desire for food is the most basic desire. It is a basic necessity.

Today food from all over the world can be found all over the world. In different cultures the air was perfumed by certain foods. Today we eat what is advertised on the media; in the future we will eat what is good for us.

Food will serve to connect people; restaurants will be designed differently. There will be music, singing, and a warm atmosphere of togetherness.

In the animal kingdom food separates and doesn’t connect, but a culture of shared meals has developed among humans. In the past the kitchen was small, but today it is part of the living room. In the era of emptiness food still gives us a taste to life.  A lion doesn’t choose which meat to eat when it is hungry. Man has a selection of food. We have turned food into entertainment.

Food is a basis for connection between people.

New Life #373 – Motherhood In The Connected World

New Life #373 – Motherhood In The Connected World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

What changes in a woman when she becomes a mother, what must she expect and prepare for in this process, and how is it possible to use motherhood as a springboard for internal and spiritual development?

Summary

A woman who becomes a mother moves to the level of Adam (Man) to the level of the system. She easily perceives the good future for her baby depends on the creation of a mutual connection between everyone. Women who intend to become mothers are doing something natural, wonderful, and most important for humanity.

The forces of darkness want to crush the institution of motherhood and are brainwashing us due to various interests. The world exists thanks to you, a woman who becomes a mother; she produces life. This is really a divine activity.

By raising and educating a child, a mother can truly realize herself and attain inner spiritual power. A mother in the world is connected in the system and links everything. She is the foundation. This is followed by her husband and children.

New Life #357 – Laughter And Humor

New Life #357 – Laughter And Humor
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What is the role of humor in our lives; how does it help us bring hearts together, create a connection between us, and how can it serve us in the dissemination of Integral Education?

Summary

Generally, professional humorists are unhappy people. A person who is more developed enjoys humor more from sudden thoughts about the unseen connections between different things. Cynicism and humor are two different things. True humor developed only in recent centuries. Humor results from a developed person contemplating himself from the side and laughing at creation. Good humor suddenly and unexpectedly connects between different things. That is how these sudden thoughts are born.

Laughter about something must be derived from a place of love. It is necessary to be careful not to move onto the tracks of harm. Someone in the entertainment world knows deeply with great detail about how things are done professionally. Humor knocks down walls between people, opens the heart, because it makes all of us like children, equal.

Humor can be a real educational tool in the wisdom of connection.

Fear Of Growing Up

Laitman_088In the News (Pacific Standard): The Peter Pan Syndrome was one of the best-selling books of the early 1980s. In it, psychologist Dan Kiley argued that teenage boys were increasingly reluctant to grow up and accept adult responsibilities.

“Any hope that this might be a short-lived phenomenon is refuted by new research. It finds that, compared to previous generations, today’s university students — both male and female — consider maturity a minefield they are in no hurry to start navigating.

“‘Today’s emerging adults seem reluctant to take on life’s next chapter,’ concludes a research team led by Miami University psychologist April Smith. ‘Undergraduates today experience more fear related to facing the demands of adult life than undergraduates in the past.'”

Answer: When I was young, it was the opposite. We wanted to be grownups so much, to start working, to do something, to aspire for something, to discover something. Schools seemed like a prison to us, while today it is the other way around; the young want to remain the way they are because they have everything.

They are locked inside their cell phone screens or computers and are in fact trapped in a cage that provides a filling they cannot give up. Of course they don’t want to break away from the screen because if they can spend all their free time in front of the small screen like small kids, they have no need for anything else.

The average amount of time in which a person can work, discover, and “conquer” the world is between 20 to 60 years, but there is nothing that attracts the youth these days.

In the past when we were that age, we dreamed about being pilots or astronauts. And then all of a sudden everyone began to regard pilots as taxi drivers who merely transport passengers back and forth.  And astronauts? They merely fly, orbit in space, land, and that’s it. People lost the yearning for romanticism, for a special filling, and nothing in this world attracts them anymore.

We are developing very quickly and we understand that there is nothing in our world that can fill us. Although we don’t fully understand it yet, we do feel it.

Humanity is moving in two directions: one is determined by the elite who see what is going on and try to organize and manage everything, but don’t know how to cope with the economic crisis and aspire to reduce the number of people on this planet in non-military ways. This is what humanity can do, and there are no other solutions since people don’t understand what is going on.

The other direction is determined by the wisdom of Kabbalah, according to which humanity is in the midst of a very meaningful evolutionary phase, in the transition and an ascent to the next level. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, our consciousness has to change; we can and we should change our attitude to the world and to each other.

When my generation looks at young people today, it is hard to understand what they engage in, and  they don’t understand us. We seem to be living on two differ planes. They have their own interests and we have ours.

We can see this as an ordinary generation gap between fathers and sons, but according to the wisdom of Kabbalah this is not really a gap, but the ascent of the new generation to the next dimension. The young people of the new generation will attain it; their consciousness will change completely; they will not regard corporeal problems and there will actually be none.

Modern robotics and scientific discoveries will ensure that we will not have to think about anything but how to build the correct society, since otherwise we will be destroyed.

We have to find out precisely what options we have: either to build one unique network between us, or this is where we will all be buried.

Question: Do people understand that they are in prison?

Answer: It isn’t a prison but a very simple action of the universe, which we have to respond to in order to survive. If a global flood threatened our lives, we would have to take some measures otherwise we would drown.

Similarly, a new system is approaching us, a totally new paradigm, a new level of existence, and we have to adapt to it. Those who will not adapt to it will not survive. It may well be that only a couple of thousand people from all of humanity will survive, and they will attain the new level of existence. Just like after the global flood, they will reach a new land and humanity will be regenerated.

This phase is starting now and I hope it will end in a couple of decades. Then humanity will understand what it is facing, the wisdom of Kabbalah offers a method by which we can quickly undergo this phase, with little suffering, easily, by understanding what is going on and, at the same time, in a qualitative way.

It doesn’t provide us with a tranquilizer in order to mitigate the unavoidable transition to the next phase of united humanity, but it offers us a way to understand the process and to do it by ourselves. This is how we will attain the new quality independently, and it will not only be a totally different feeling, but will lead to a totally different outcome.

Russia, Children, And Alcohol

laitman_435Question: How should one build children’s correct attitude toward alcohol? I don’t see much sense in prohibiting it because the environment in Russia (advertisements, peers, and adults) aid in the children tasting alcohol anyway. What can be done about it?

Answer: Russia is in a unique situation because it is a special part of the general soul of Adam. If Russia were to begin to use the method of unification, which it is closer to than all other peoples, it would wake up and dry out and fulfill itself with the discovery of the higher existence. Otherwise how would it feel that there is any reason to leave the intoxicated state?

New Life #350 – Unity Of The People: Publicity

New Life #350 – Unity Of The People: Publicity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What are the conditions that must exist so that we can reach unity of the people; what do we achieve through our private lives and how can we achieve it through Integral Education?

Summary

Unity of the people will provide every person and every family, responding to the root of everything that they are missing in life. When we will all be like one big family, personal security will increase, children will run free.

It is possible to make a campaign of patience on the highways, “Because all of us are one family.” This would be the new norm. There will be widespread publicity, a general educational process for unity of the people, in all areas of life. Unity of the people will lower the cost of living. After all, you would not sell to your relatives at inflated prices.

It is necessary to “plow” the nation with publicity about the unity of the people. Today the divisions are terrible and deep.

New Life #349 – Uniting The Israeli Nation: An Ideology

New Life #349 – Uniting The Israeli Nation: An Ideology
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What distinguishes Israel from the other nations? How is this expressed in our genealogy from Abraham until our days and how can we unite the whole world?

Summary

We have to unite the nation since our nation has no right to exist if we are not united. All of Israel are friends. We are a small but greatly divided nation since we have absorbed many views from all over the world during the 2,000 years in exile.

We can unite only on the basis the Abraham established of Hesed (mercy), love and connection. We have not worked on building the mutual love between us, on building the original Israel since we have returned to the land of our fathers.

We lack the education for love of others. We need a national socio-educational plan of uniting the nation. Unity is essential for everyone in a global integrated world. Only we can start this process.

If people felt mutual care and tried to understand others, if they felt connection and unity, we would live in the “Garden of Eden” – paradise.

New Life #347 – The Vision Of World Peace

New Life #347 – The Vision Of World Peace
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

There is a vision for peace throughout all of our lives. What is true peace; why is it difficult to reach it, and how do we clothe ourselves in it as a natural law through Integral Education?

Summary

We are social creatures: we require others for enjoyment. Human nature is egoistic. “Peace” means the creation of a special bond with someone else until he and I become one. To feel what the other is missing, we must develop a new “sense”—a desire to please others.
-A mother feels her child naturally. We need to develop this capability ourselves in relation to others.

We take in the surrounding reality through five senses. We take in others through the sense of giving.

Humanity is divided into those who seek peace and those who are more aggressive, but all are egoistic. This requires correction. The dream of peace is worldwide; now, all illusions are shattered. Capitalism is bankrupt. The world is in a multidisciplinary crisis that arises from the full exhaustion of human egoism.

Nature shows that everything is connected; all of us depend upon each other. We must learn to love and be conciliatory.

Through Integral Education all inhabitants of the world will reach peace and love; they will feel like one person with one heart.
