Schools Teach the Wrong Thing
Comment: I know a lot of teachers. Almost all of them agree on one thing: today’s generation of children has a grudge against adults.
My Response: It is natural for children to complain about their elders. They believe that everything is owed to them, and that as children they deserve special attention and treatment. In fact, this is true, on one hand.
On the other hand, we do not educate children. School does not make a human out of a child. It makes them into physicists, mathematicians, mechanics, and so on.
This is a problem of all education and upbringing. We give children some kind of education, maybe, but we do not give them upbringing. They come out of school, every day after school and generally after graduation, and they are animals.
Comment: You said a terrible thing: “They are animals.” Are we to blame for this?
My Response: Sure, if parents are busy at work all the time and children are at school and somewhere out there with each other doing who knows what, so what do you want to happen?
Comment: They are more in their smartphones.
My Response: And that is what they get from there until humanity comes to its senses and takes the whole matter into its own hands, under the strictest control that a person cannot see and hear everything that is given to him. He must be educated! An education that provides a very serious attitude to life. If this does not happen, then of course we can see where everything is heading.
Question: A generation has grown up that says terrible things to people. And we raised this generation?
Answer: Of course, it is just us.
Question: What would you say to children if you were a teacher?
Answer: Let us figure out our lives, our relationships, and how to make sure that… Well, okay, we are already old people, but the next generation is you. What should you be like to make life kind, good, confident, safe, and so on? What should we do? How can we raise such people? And we need to talk about it. We need to think about it, because our main task is to raise a person—not mathematics or physics, or anyone else.
Comment: It will not be easy to soften them up.
My Response: No, they should not be pitied. They should still realize a little bit that the world toward which everything is heading is an inhuman, cruel, mechanistic and very unpleasant world, unsuitable for existence.
Question: And will they understand this if you talk to them?
Answer: I think so.
Question: Can these children change?
Answer: Yes, but not with one conversation.
Question: So the change will happen through a series of conversations?
Answer: Even if takes a few years, what is the difference? But we have to push for it all the time.
