The Inability to Fulfill One Another
Question: Must Arvut (mutual guarantee) be realized in action or is it enough for society simply to agree to it?
Answer: In the article “The Giving of the Torah,” Baal HaSulam explains that you are not capable of bestowing to another. No matter whom you choose from all of humanity, even the smallest, most modest in their desires, you will not be able to fulfill them.
It is clear that you only “burn yourself out” in an attempt that is doomed to fail from the start. If you intend to fulfill people’s needs through action so that they may be happy, it will not yield good results.
We must understand that happiness is not a matter of money, politics, or psychology. Happiness arises from the feeling of adhesion with the upper. That is what fills all the lacks within the desires a person feels.
Our concern should be to lead humanity to the understanding that fulfillment comes only through the light, not through various actions in this world.
A person will never be satisfied, no matter what it is. You will never be able to satiate them. What we must care about is that people understand what the true means is and come to acquire it.
