Either a Servant of the Pharaoh or a Servant of the Creator

207It is written in the primary sources that when a person is in Egypt, he cannot be a Yehudi, Yehudi—from the word “Yechud”- union. A person cannot be united either with the Creator or with the other parts of the broken Kli (vessel) of Adam, while in bondage to the Pharaoh, he cannot be a slave of the Creator.

Question: And why is it better to be the slave of the Creator instead of Pharaoh?

Answer: At first, we do not know what is better and what is not. It is just that our nature pushes us toward this, the Reshimo (internal information record) does.

And then we begin to feel that by working for the Creator we unite with each other and by this we bring pleasure to Him. We can attract the upper light upon ourselves, which gives us the opportunity to rise above egoism. And then the work in altruism already becomes wanted, desirable, and possible.

Question: A person is either under the governance of the Pharaoh or under the governance of the Creator? Is he either a slave of the pharaoh or a slave of the Creator?

Answer: Yes, there is no neutral state.
