Crime stems from the development of the human ego so that we will recognize its destructive power. The human ego derives satisfaction, fulfillment, money, respect, and control from harming others. This is the true essence of crime. We do not succeed in rehabilitating criminals because the whole society requires education regarding how to love others. Our laws depend on the egoistic values of the legislators rather than the absolute lawfulness of nature which operates according to the principle “And you shall love your friend as yourself.”
