Nothing Vanishes In Spirituality

Dr. Michael Laitman The articles in the book Shamati (I Heard) were not written by Baal HaSulam as works in which the writer examines every word, but rather, these articles were delivered as talks during meals with his students, which RABASH (Baal HaSulam’s son and first student) heard and later recorded on paper.

Baal HaSulam did not allow students to write anything down in his presence, including during the lesson. Until today, this approach existed throughout the entire history of Kabbalah. Throughout all generations, none of the Kabbalists recorded a single word during the studies, since it was forbidden to write.

After all, a student received the “oral” Torah, “from the mouth” of the teacher. One perceived in accordance with what he heard and comprehended. This is because when a person writes, he doesn’t comprehend. Whereas when a person listens, the material is absorbed; it enters one’s desires and qualities, thus raising him.

Moreover when one enters spirituality, every word that the teacher spoke including the minutest details, will be remembered. One remembers the form in which it was said, along with everything in its deepest meaning.

Nothing vanishes in spirituality. Our entire “movie” already exists and is premiering before us. We only need to learn to move from it and live in an absolutely new informational space.

Telling The Story Of The Exodus From Egypt

Dr. Michael Laitman The Zohar, Chapter “Bo (Come Unto Pharaoh),” Item 179: The commandment that follows is to speak in the praise of the exodus from Egypt, which is mandatory for man for all time. Every man who tells the story of the exodus from Egypt and delights in that story will rejoice with Divinity (which is joy from all sides) in the next world. This is a man who is delighted with his master, and the Creator is delighted with that story of his.

The commandment is the Creator’s order, the law of nature, the duty of each person. The Creator is nature; that means that it is our duty which is built into our nature to “tell the story” about our exodus from Egypt (our egoism) into the property of bestowal.

“To tell the story” means to verify, find out, understand, test, and to attain at its deepest level the Light which impacts our desire to receive pleasure. As a result of this effort, we become aware of the nature of our participation in the processes that occur within us under the influence of the Light. We have to acknowledge whether our involvement is unconscious, automatic or independent. Without a clear understanding of this process at the very depth of its meaning we cannot attain the Creator.

It’s impossible to jump from the uncorrected state into the corrected one. We won’t understand the Creator and won’t become similar to Him unless we truly understand creation. By correcting ourselves internally we attain Him (Creator – Bo re) inside of us. This is the meaning of “Bo re” (Bo-Re), to come and see, to reach and get to know, which takes place inside of our inner progress, within the changes we undergo.

Within the black dot of creation that was made “out of nothing,” we have to repeat all the actions of the Light in order to let the Light fill us. But this fulfillment has to happen within our comprehension, knowledge and sensations.

That’s why we are “commanded” to recognize the whole process that our egoistic desire goes through, from the very bottom of its depth, for the sake of attainment of the property of bestowal: To “speak” about the exodus from Egypt.

Spiritual Hunger

Dr. Michael Laitman In order to reach spiritual life, there is no need to feel badly in our material life. We see this through the example of Egyptian slavery, where Jews had everything necessary for a good life. A new king came to power in Egypt and the seven years of famine began; however, this is spiritual rather than material hunger.

They built wonderful cities for Pharaoh: Pitom and Ramses. What do we mean when we say “for Pharaoh?” It was done for their egoism! They built a great life for it. However, suddenly it was revealed that all is empty…and we need to run from such a life, in spite of all its sated well-being.

I feel that spiritual life is more important than material life, and it is better to die than to live without it. I cannot live this life anymore; I need to reveal the spiritual. Therefore, I am willing to run into the dark and the desert.

This state is called coming out of Egypt. It is when a person needs to change his priorities and make them opposite to what is commonly accepted. However, the world doesn’t need to expose itself to corporeal suffering at all. Rather we should suffer only from the lack of spirituality, not from material problems.

A person cannot be driven into the spiritual world with a stick. People turn to religion and psychologists from corporeal problems. One needs to lack spirituality. This depends on how quickly his point in the heart is revealed and how broadly we are able to disseminate the science of Kabbalah.

Without the dissemination of this knowledge, spiritual deliverance cannot occur. A person is incapable of inventing a method of revealing spirituality on his own; one needs to receive it somehow. Therefore, Baal HaSulam called the dissemination of the science of Kabbalah "The Messiah’s Horn," since without this the world has no chance to change for the better.

Revealing Our True State

Dr. Michael Laitman Spirituality is the quality of bestowal that is revealed in the bond between souls. This is the only thing the Kabbalists write about, as there is nothing else. There is no other reality.

We exist in a universe and the space between us is filled entirely with bestowal. This whole system with all its internal connections is called “the Creator.” And every one of us who wants to uphold this system and observe its laws is called the “creation.”

Presently we are not creations, and we do not pertain to the Creator’s system. Indeed, a creation is one who desires to be connected with others. He wants to actualize the system just as it exists from the standpoint of nature, which is concealed from us.

We currently exist in this system and observe its laws 100% of the time though we are entirely unaware of this fact. Even now, we exist in a completely corrected state called “1,” which is a state before the descent into our world.

Everything is already working perfectly but only from the standpoint of the Creator. We have lost perception of this state and must now bring ourselves to consciousness: To desire to return there and reveal our true location and function. The return of this system to this previous state depends on our desire, preparedness, and efforts.

Then we will reveal the same state wherein we already exist, but this realization will enable us to feel it as state “3.” It will appear to us as clear, deep, and full of perfection. This state is 613 times greater than the original state. We only need to correctly understand this system and ourselves within it so as to begin the work of revealing our true state, our true life.

The Secrets Of Creation Take Shape In Contradiction

Dr. Michael LaitmanA question I received: Why does a person possess properties that make him think, understand and act differently?

My Answer: Otherwise we wouldn’t be independent. We have to include within ourselves two opposites, the Light and the darkness, and they have to co-exist within us. Otherwise, we won’t become similar to the Creator. We have to keep our “own” properties and at the same time be similar to the “Creator.”

The more we advance the bigger these two opposites become within us. They rise up like two monsters. In fact, they constitute two lines, two pillars that extend from Above, from the Creator, onto us.

All our confusions, worries, problems, hesitations, and fluctuations from side to side, from left to right are meant to outline our new shape using the desires to receive and to bestow. The contradiction between material and its shape will remain in place and will only grow larger. In the opposition of these two properties within ourselves, at the border which divides them, in the endless separation between them, is where we reveal all the secrets of creation.

Switching Our Operating Program

Dr. Michael Laitman We need to understand that someone from Above is playing with us. Now I perceive myself as something that is most precious. However, I am simply programmed to perceive in this way. There is nothing special or unique about me. I was just created to care most about myself. A program was instilled in my internal apparatus that makes me fixated on myself; thus all the time, just like a robot, I care only about myself.

Yet really this program is really more alien to me than something I perceive to be outside of myself. It is important to discern that this internal program is operating me and to understand that it’s completely opposite to the truth. We have to try to move to the outer program. We have to build the outer program ourselves. Building this means that we return to the act of creation.

We, instead of the Creator, begin to act. We use His power of Light to program ourselves in relation to our outer desires (Kelim), in the same way the Creator programmed us regarding our current desires. We perform the same work. In so doing, we study what the Creator has done; we obtain power over reality, and become as wise as the Creator. We acquire the same perception.

Although this work is called “above reason,” it doesn’t mean that we perform it without any mind. On the contrary, I constantly check what the Creator has done in me, and now I have to transfer it outside of myself. However, I have to learn about my ego gradually because, on the inside, I work “above reason.” The Creator programmed me to constantly take care of myself, but through this work, I check and see that it is so artificial, unjustified. I see that on top of being useless, it harms me. Hence, I use this to learn how to switch the program to the opposite direction – from inside to outside.

In Search Of My Soul

Dr. Michael Laitman A question I received: What desires within me belong to the "stony heart" that will be corrected in the very end during the final correction?

My Answer: All desires which are discussed in the wisdom of Kabbalah, such as GE, AHP, and the stony heart, are our broken desires. We were once connected together through them, but this connection broke apart. These desires are not at all directed to the fulfillments of this world.

In fact, the broken desires which exist between us are actually the absence of connection between us, but we don’t feel them whatsoever. Do I really feel that I’m disconnected from you, that I miss this connection and it’s broken? Do I really regret that I hate you?

We don’t even sense the desires which require correction. For now there is nothing to correct since we don’t see what’s missing and broken. This is why none of us have desires belonging to the soul except for the single point in a heart (in those who already have it awakened). It becomes the beginning of our soul if we start discerning our connections requiring correction within it.

At the same time the ordinary human desires have no relation to our connection with other souls. This is why we don’t have a soul yet, but only material bodily desires which are not related to the soul.
