After the breaking of the one unified soul of Adam, a new system was made out of its parts called the system of “fallen souls.” Every one of us is a part of this uncorrected system, which is intended to correct us. Initially a system of worlds (or of potential connections between us) was created. It’s as if a puzzle is placed before us which we need to put together.

Although all we see is an empty square where we need to place all the separate pieces of different shapes, each piece was originally assigned its own space and shape. And this is our task: to understand the shape and place of each piece of the puzzle.

The Upper Worlds are built in exactly the same way, like puzzles that hide one within another with all their numerous shapes. We can’t tell them apart, but they exist! The place where our souls have to rise and connect is already there, but it is hidden from us. That is why it is called “the world” (Olam), a derivative of the word “concealment” (Alama).

I have to take my piece of the “puzzle” and use my qualities correctly in order to find the place where I fit. When I do so, I will see that the rest of its parts (except me) are already in place and the puzzle is already assembled! The system is ready to accept me in my corrected form; it is called “the system of words” and it is already built. My responsibility is to fill only my one part. I don’t have to worry about the rest of the system because it is already corrected; it is called the World of Atzilut.

Looking at this picture, I see that I have to establish a connection only with the pieces adjacent to me. But my neighboring parts have to stay connected with the other parts, and those parts must, in turn, connect with the next ones. That is how I will find the right connection with all souls.

What is The Zohar teaching us? We know from the science of Kabbalah that the Creator created one desire, inside of which all further development takes place. This one desire includes numerous particular desires, which are interconnected into one system called “Adam” – the common soul.

Then, according to His program, the Creator began corrupting the connection between the parts of that desire. They began losing the connection between each other, similar to the organs in an ailing body that stop correctly interacting with each other. This causes an imbalance and we feel symptoms of the ailment, such as rising pressure or temperature, the wrong chemical composition of the blood, and so on. These are all signs that the organism is not balancing itself, and we call it a disease.

Why does the Creator do this to the souls? He does it in order for us to feel corruption and then to correct it. The disease is a corruption of the connections between us, who are parts of a single system. As this corruption permeates us, we begin to feel less and less connected with each other.

There are 125 degrees in this loss of connection between us. It is a descent from infinity, where we are infinitely connected with each other, to the state where this connection completely disappears.

Moreover, there is a level called “Parsa” along these 125 degrees where a greater corruption emerges; instead of a positive connection or absence of it, we form a negative connection. Now everyone wants to use the others for self-benefit. The organism is not simply dying, but is consuming itself completely.

This descent into the desire to use others goes on until it reaches the state where we completely lose all connection between each other – both a positive connection for bestowal and a negative connection for receiving. In this state, we exist in total nonconformance to spirituality, lacking all attainment and knowledge. This is a result of our separation from each other where we perceive this world, an imaginary reality. Why is it imaginary? Because it was purposefully set up by the Creator to give us an illusion of His absence.

What we are to do? We must understand that we have to correct the connection between us. The ascent of the soul from our world to the World of Infinity occurs to the degree that we strengthen the connection is between us. Recovery of connection between us creates the ascent.

Therefore, the more we imagine our state in connection with other souls, the more we will enjoy The Book of Zohar. After all, it was written from the elevation of the World of Infinity. The authors of The Book of Zohar wrote this masterpiece from the elevation of the 125^th degree where they were connected together.

While studying The Zohar, we need to feel a desire to connect together. There is no need to be “smart.” It’s enough to simply remember that we attain everything inside the connection with each other.

Actually, The Zohar talks only about the connection between the souls. It explains our connection within the global system called “Adam” with all the other souls, and how we use them to connect together in a sound, healthy, and correctly functioning system.

A question I received: While reading the names and titles in The Book of Zohar, should we find their spiritual definitions, which each of us is going through at this moment, or it it a common standard which we need to find between us?

My Answer: The Zohar is talking about our internality. It tells us what is happening inside us, and each of us includes everything within.

The Zohar describes the structure of our soul, as well as how to discern it and reveal everything taking place in it. The entire World of Infinity, the Creator, and all of reality exist inside the soul. We have to reveal all of this there, inside our soul.

Baal HaSulam writes that The Book of Zohar includes all 125 degrees and its narration leads us all the way until the end of correction. It’s not important where you are located on the spiritual ladder; this book is always good for every person along the entire path.

When we begin the path of Kabbalah, we gradually come to realize that our perception of reality is divided into an inner world and an outer world, where the outer or external world seems foreign to us. Therefore, we don’t look at it with loving eyes and don’t see it as wonderful in every way, like a mother looks at her child, for instance.

In reality, however, it is to our benefit that we were created with this dual perception which allows us to treat our egoism as something foreign. Due to it we come to know the mistakes and corruptions associated with our egoism and suddenly recognize that it is all within us. It is really a wonder when we realize that all of the evil we see outside of ourselves is in fact our own, because it allows us to redirect our focus from trying to correct the outside, to wanting instead to correct ourselves.

This dual perception originates from the initial opposition between the point of creation which emerged “out of nothing” and the Light. This opposition forces our perception to split into two parts – internal and external. In other words, we see ourselves from the outside (as if it is not us) and then absorb everything inside ourselves. But when we acknowledge that the hatred and evil perceived as outside of ourselves is indeed our own, we connect it to the tiniest spark of our soul (the point in the heart), and the result is a corrected Kli.

It is similar to photo developing, which turns a negative into a positive. Nothing else is needed except changing our outlook, and by this we begin to see everything in what is called “the Reflected Light.”

Our perception is built using sounds, flavors, visual images, scents, and all of our other bodily sensors. Moreover, our perception also defines the levels of our desire for food, sex, money, power, and knowledge. These are “outer fulfillments” which we have to reveal within ourselves. Therefore the same principle can be applied not only to our Kelim, but also to the Lights. Right now this is difficult to understand, but as we begin to sense spirituality, we can feel the world in this way and then everything becomes clear.

The Creator dwells inside the connection of all the souls that we refer to as the common soul of Adam HaRishon. We, the parts of the common soul, correct and revive the broken system of souls when we begin to connect with one another. In doing so, we create a multidimensional net where every piece is connected to others, just like the organs in the human body are connected through an infinite number of connections.

The connection between the souls once existed for the sake of bestowal to the Creator. In that state, all the souls were connected “as one man with one heart” for the sake of one Creator. This is the meaning of the verse, “He and His Name are one”; it refers to the state where the Creator and the creation were one single whole in the World of Infinity. However, this connection was broken because everyone lost their altruistic intention. As a result, the Creator disappeared, as did the sensation of Light.

This state, where the souls lost their connection with one another, is referred to as “the breaking” or “the exile” (from spirituality). This is our current state. Every person within this system is a separate individual and perceives only his own small world. He does not perceive the spiritual world because it can only be perceived in the connection between us. When there is no connection between us, we perceive just the material world.

The basic concepts to take away from this are:

• When the souls are connected with one another egoistically – for their own sake, they perceive this world.
• When the souls connect with one another for the sake of bestowal, then within that connection they reveal the spiritual world, the world to come.
• The life that we reveal within our egoistic connections with one another is referred to as our current material life.
• The life that we reveal within a proper connection with one another is referred to as the revelation of the Creator. We will feel the Upper Force, the Creator, the same way as we feel the air around us. He will connect us with all the other parts of the universe.

Therefore, everything depends on our connection with one another – whether it is egoistic or for the sake of bestowal.

In about a month we will be gathering at a large Congress in Israel, the exact place where the breaking occurred and the first place that needs correction. Therefore, this Congress can be so immensely powerful that it will affect all of us and the entire world because we will bring the quality of bestowal closer to the egoistic desires.

Let us hope that we will succeed in uniting with the help of The Zohar, which we are now studying. It is a means through which we can attract the Upper Light that reforms and connects us.

When we return to the World of Infinity, everyone, every cell of the common soul becomes infinite as everyone else is connected to and included within me. Through me I bring them the World of Infinity. I don’t have any Light myself. Every cell connects to the Surrounding Light and receives from it. In other words, I have a personal connection with the Creator, and His Light or love flows through me to everyone else; I fulfill and serve each one of them. I complete my own piece within them from the breaking of the vessels. They didn’t need this fulfillment before as they existed in the World of Infinity as separate cells, connected in a simple existence provided by the Creator. There they had no sensation or understanding of others; everything was almost completely inanimate with only a glimmer of life – the Light of Nefesh in the desire of Keter.

Aside from my individual self there’s also the “I” that’s included in all the others since we are now all included within each other. I exist in each one of them, whether they like it or not. My individual self is my “central workplace,” the central department that is connected to all of my representatives in all the other souls. Through my inclusion in all of the souls I influence every one of them, providing for them the part I am responsible for. Everything functions like a whole-interconnected system.

Our physical body works according to the same principle. If a particular cell fails to understand the brain’s orders, then it cannot function properly. Part of the brain is also included in every cell allowing it to understand the brain and carry out its orders. And if that part of the cell doesn’t sense how it is connected to the function of all the other organs and stops functioning according to the center’s commands, then it becomes a cancerous cell or simply dies.

In other words, the breaking of the vessels gives us an opportunity to return to the World of Infinity and create a real infinity, where everyone is included in all the other cells of creation, acting like the Creator in relation to the others. In this state, I will have attained my personal likeness to the Creator since I give to all the others and they are unable to exist without it. And this is true with everyone. That is why we return to the World of Infinity, which is 613 (TARAKH) times greater. It is only a number, and we cannot actually measure its scope, as it denotes the force of interconnection of all the souls.

After the breaking of the common soul, a piece of my soul remained in the World of Infinity, where it is connected with all the other parts. When I correct myself now, I correct that little part’s connections with all the others, rather than correcting the little part itself.

Initially all our desires were connected together by the force of the Light, the Upper Force. I wasn’t aware of my actions then; I was giving to others and was receiving from them as well because the Light directed us to do so. This is how we existed in the World of Infinity – the Kli (vessel) of Keter was filled with the Light of Nefesh, and the Kli was kept in this condition by the force of the Upper Light.

However, now it’s not enough for us to be simply connected. When we return to that connection after the breaking, with each one of us being a small vessel of desire (Kli), we come to understand the entire system, the complete common body of the soul. We gain awareness of it and grasp all of infinity, and acquire the knowledge of how to connect with others, how to bestow upon them, and give them life.

Therefore, the breaking was necessary in order for everyone to mix together with all the others and for each of us to have the necessary informational records (Reshimot). Now, when we begin to awaken after the breaking, everyone are beginning to feel how these mutual inclusions in one other are surfacing in us in a corrupted form, expressed as hideous hatred towards all. If we don’t correct ourselves, there won’t be any person in the world you would want to be alive. Even though he doesn’t bother you directly, you will still want him to die.

This will be the common feeling of everyone; we will all want for the others to disappear because every person includes everything in his broken desire. The only way out is to correct this system.

A question I received: What is matter and form in spirituality? What is the desire of the World of Infinity? Why do you always draw it as a circle?

My Answer: A circle symbolizes spiritual perfection and equality. There is nothing lower or higher, or to the left or the right of something else. Everything and everyone is equal in relation to the center of a circle.

Matter is desire and form is the particular thing I desire. Equivalence of form is when we want the same thing, and a difference in form is when we want different things. All the various particular desires still exist in the World of Infinity, yet they unite together and become equivalent because they desire to give to each other, to integrate, and to understand each other. In fact, each incorporates the others within itself.

It follows that my task is to turn myself into the World of Infinity. I am a part of the World of Infinity, being a small organ of the common soul. In order to connect with others, I need to absorb all their desires, the desires of the entire World of Infinity. I need to become equal to that circle and include everything within me, so it will all be mine. Then I will understand what everyone wants and will be able to provide it. I will be able to express my infinite love to everyone.

Every part of the common soul must include all the others within itself. But how can we do this? This is why the breaking of the vessels occurred – in order for all the pieces to mix together and become integrated in each other. Now everyone consists of others. Knowing this, we can appreciate the breaking and understand where it has brought us and how essential it was. Without the breaking, I wouldn’t be able understand anyone or absorb their desires. I wouldn’t be able to connect with them and reach the World of Infinity.

We have to submerge deep inside ourselves and try to feel the processes described in The Zohar from the very depth of our souls. I don’t know where all these desires and properties are inside me; I just want to sense what The Book of Zohar tells me about the processes that take place within me at this time.

It doesn’t matter that I don’t understand what kind of processes they are, or that everything happens on spiritual degrees which are concealed from me. I want to uncover them, because they are all happening within me, here and now. I want to feel where these qualities are located, where these processes are happening, and how all these parts work within me.

Suppose we are reading a book about the functioning of our physical body. It explains how our brain, heart, liver, and other organs work, how they exchange substances, what happens when we feel or eat something, how our blood and other fluids circulate, how electric signals transmit; basically it describes how our physiology works.

Listening to a lesson in human anatomy and physiology we learn about parts of the body and how all components of one body act together, each in its own place in accordance with its function, resulting in the sensation of life. Likewise, this is how The Zohar describes the physiology of a soul’s body (Kli), its organization, internal connections, and functionality. In reading it and by applying effort to our studies, we gradually start to reveal our soul, in which we attain revelation of the whole world and the Creator.
