Unity Among People Is Unique In Nature

A question I received: Why can’t our human society reach the state of mutual guarantee naturally, while staying on the animate level like cells in a body?

My Answer: A human being is far too complicated a creature to connect with others this way. Here’s why.

Egoism becomes qualitatively bigger on each level of nature, going from the still level, to the vegetative, to the animate, and the human. The bigger an object’s egoism, the more individualistic it is, and the more incapable it is of uniting with others. Therefore, as one develops, one feels more separate from others.

Nowadays, it’s not only the psychologists and sociologists, but also the economists and the politicians who are discovering that the world has become interconnected and therefore we – humanity – must unite. However, they believe that they are able to do this using a corporeal method, and that everything will settle down if only we create a world bank, a world government, a world upbringing, and a world-wide connection.

However, after having a few more meetings like the recent G20 summit, they will begin to understand that they lack the method to unite. Unfortunately, before they realize this, people may have to go through great suffering, including a lack of safety, a feeling of disorientation, total powerlessness, and universal grief. People cannot bear to be in a state of uncertainty, since constant alarm is worse than death. Our minds cannot function under such circumstances. Yet all of this may happen in order for us to realize that the only way to achieve unification among us is to rise above our egoistic nature.

This is not so on the still, vegetative, and animate levels, where all of nature and its parts are instinctively, naturally interconnected. They supplement each other and interact with each other harmoniously, without any freedom of choice or any decision-making.

Unification between people, however, can only be achieved when each person does it consciously. Unlike the other levels of nature, the Creator did not just make us unite by giving us instincts for this. Our unification is possible only if we acquire the quality of bestowal and love, where everyone participates and joins with everyone. To do this, we have to rise above ourselves and our egoism, and achieve the Biblical commandment of “love your neighbor as yourself.”

This is how the quality of the Creator will be revealed among us, and we will become similar to Him. We will then understand why He acted this way in regard to us.

What’s The Use Of Our Suffering?

A Question Is the Sensation of an Empty DesireWe exist within a law of nature, which is now being revealed and obliging us to follow it unconditionally. Since it is a law, it is therefore impossible not to follow it.

For example, take the law of gravity. When we know this law, we are able to build a plane that can easily move through the air, even though it is heavier than air and opposite to this law. However, if we were unfamiliar with this law, we would crash. This is how all of Nature’s laws work: if one doesn’t follow them, he kills himself.

We still don’t realize that we are now under the influence of a new law of nature – the law of universal interdependence between people. This law obliges us to completely unite with one another – to join our desires and thoughts. However, this is completely opposite to our current desires and thoughts.

Nevertheless, the law of universal interdependence or mutual guarantee is gradually being revealed to us, because we have developed to the necessary level. In the past we did not feel this law because we had not yet reached the final level of our egoistic development.

This is why we are gradually beginning to realize that we don’t know how to use everything around us. We don’t know what to do with our desires, thoughts and actions in order to receive even a small pleasure, the way we did before. Now, as soon as a person wishes to use others, he is crushed by a blow. And if this is still not evident to anyone, it will be revealed to them very soon. So what should we do?

In order to reduce the blows, we have to take a closer look at their cause. We will then see that these “plagues of Egypt” are there to separate us from our egoism, to enable us to understand that egoism is the source of all our suffering. But is this possible? Can we really separate ourselves from our very nature?

It is possible, because when we reach this state, we reveal the need for help from above. But until then, we can’t even suspect of this possibility. So it is none other than the affect of suffering that helps us reach the right inner demand: “Let the Upper Force come and correct me!”

We then see that the Creator did this on purpose – in order for us to feel that we need Him, and then to grow and become like Him!

Would You Trust Others With Your Life?

A question I received: Why can’t people develop the instinct of love for their neighbor just like animals do while under the pressure of difficult circumstances and suffering? This seems to be the most natural and evolutionary path of development.

My Answer: You’re right: if people were on the same level of development as animals, they really would be able to develop the same kind of instinct as bees, ants, and human cells. For example, a single cell in a body is able to sense that if it doesn’t unite with another cell, and then with a third cell, and a fourth cell, it loses out on the force of life. In other words, two cells that are separated go through the realization of evil and reach the realization, “We should unite in order to live longer and better.”

In the process of uniting, the cells come to understand the benefit of the unification to a greater extent, and they then begin to separate according to each cell’s “specialization”: some cells become the heart, others become the lungs, others – the brain, yet none of the organs can exist separately. Each organ is certain that the others will take care of it.

In the past, a cell could exist on its own, completely alone. However, as the cells united, they discovered that specialization gives rise to a higher form of existence. And in order for this to happen, each cell must reject its personal life and begin to live the life of the whole organism.

This way, the cell literally entrusts its life to the other cells. It gives its life over to them because by specializing to become an eye cell, for example, it stops carrying out the other functions. It trusts another cell to be its heart, and another cell to be its brain, and another cell to be the lungs.

And  what role do the lungs play? They breathe for the whole body, but actually they practically don’t need oxygen for themselves. They do it because the whole body needs the oxygen to exist. And the other cells have absolute faith that the lungs will provide them with oxygen, because they are all in a mutual guarantee!

This is how stem cells (small, universal cells) became cells of different types – of the brain, lungs, heart, and so on. And that is how organs formed and living organisms began to develop.

Biologists believe that this happened “on its own.” But in reality, this process happened because of the revelation of “Reshimot” (informational genes), which are implanted in creation from the beginning and are revealed in a specific order. According to them, we must now consciously achieve the same kind of unity in human society.

What Is Balance In Nature?

laitman_75A question I received: Words like “mutual balance” and “mutual guarantee” are very beautiful and admirable. However, it’s not clear what they mean. Could you explain it using specific examples?

My Answer: Balance in Nature means that all are equal and everything belongs to all, including the land and everything it holds (such as oil, gas, ore, water, and so on). Balance is when everyone has an equal attitude toward the consumption of Nature’s resources.

It is necessary to maintain this balance when consuming from Nature: every person must receive only the things he needs to lead a normal life. In addition, people should not produce anything that isn’t necessary for the existence of their animate bodies. Any excess is harmful and contrary to the law of Nature’s balance.

Among people, the law of balance is properly expressed when each person receives according to his essential needs, his natural necessities. And we are not equal in this regard, since every person has different innate qualities and needs.

Nature or the Creator has made us different on purpose, in order for us to sense each other’s needs, desires and thoughts. It is in order for us to develop a desire to feel the souls of others, to sense their inner essence and their desires. Then, if you want to achieve an equal supply of resources for all, you will have to sense the people around you the same way you sense yourself. Only then will we be able to become cells of one body.

All Of Humanity Is The Body Of Your Soul

A question I received: When a person first hears of “Mutual Guarantee” and universal dependency, this kind of talk annoys and repulses him. How do we explain that unification is beneficial?

My Answer: Imagine that this person has been in an accident and is on the verge between life and death. His entire body is broken and he lies lifeless on a stretcher. (This is not so far from the truth, since the shattering of the souls is like an accident.)

If he could feel that the only way for him to come back to life is with the help of his friends, he would no longer hate the idea of a mutual guarantee. He would understand that he doesn’t have a body of his own, but only a point. And his entire body – the arms, legs, brain and everything else – is something he can only get from others. He will only get these body parts if the others will sacrifice theirs for him.

This is a mutual guarantee. It is when in addition to the single point you start out with, everything else that you receive comes exclusively from your connection with others. This is because the desire to receive does not exist in the spiritual world; only the desire to bestow exists there. Therefore, one does not live at the expense of oneself, but at the expense of the sacrifices made by all of humanity. They constitute your body.

You are only a point, whereas humanity is the body of your soul. All these people must provide you with the organs you need. If you will love them, and if they will be connected with one another, then the force of the mutual guarantee will bestow all that is necessary to every one of us.

It’s good that people today are already beginning to understand that they do not want to be in a mutual guarantee with others. However, once they will learn that they cannot survive on their own, people will desire the mutual guarantee. And then they will realize that they do not have the strength to attain it by themselves. They will passionately desire for the law of Mutual Guarantee to govern them, but will only discover that they are unable to attain it or practice it.

That is when they will cry out so loudly that they will receive this quality from above. And from that moment on, they will become the Creator’s slaves rather than the Pharaoh’s slaves. This will happen by virtue of their desire to have another power, a different authority, rule over them. This authority is the force of bestowal, instead of their innate egoism.

Germany Warns Of Crisis After Crisis, But Kabbalah Says There Is No Crisis!

In the News (from The Financial Times):Germany warns on ‘crisis after crisis’” The world could face high inflation and a “crisis after the crisis” when the global economy recovers, Peer Steinbrück, German finance minister, has warned. Angela Merkel, chancellor, told The Financial Times last month that pumping too much money into reviving global growth would create an unstable recovery.

My Comment: Dear readers, let’s think together about how to help all the world leaders and all the people in the world understand that there is no crisis. Rather, there is a new reality and new social conditions, which we do not match yet. This is the crisis.

As soon as we understand the meaning of “a global and integral world” and realize that the new conditions require us to have relationships of kindness and consideration, the crisis will disappear!

The Key To Successful Dissemination

A question I received: At what point can we consider a dissemination attempt successful? For example, if we simply tell a person that there is a practical method to improve their lives, that we’re all connected through natural laws, without mentioning Kabbalah, is that dissemination? If I don’t mention Kabbalah to people, they assume I am just a Marxist, so I am curious as to whether I need to be more direct. The less direct approach seems appropriate for many forums and online publications, but I’d like to know that it’s not a waste of time.

My Answer: We have to provide an explanation of the following things, without mentioning Kabbalah:

  • What is our freedom of choice? It lies in creating the right environment (“The Freedom“)
  • What is the correct environment? It’s an environment that strives toward balance with Nature
  • How does one enter such environment? By humbling himself
  • What does one have to receive from it? The value of unity
  • Explain egoism’s development throughout history, in every generation and in each person’s individual life
  • Individual egoism is closing in to form an integral, closed system
  • Use examples from biology, cybernetics and other sciences that study closed systems
  • Explain the need for the right upbringing and education, teaching people the science of the new, united world
  • Explain why Marxism was applied incorrectly in Russia and the Kibbutzim
  • Using, facts, show that there is a possibility of Nazism and wars

You can extend this list, but without mentioning Kabbalah!

We Are Bound Together Like Fish In A Net

What is the cause of the new situation we are in? Why is the connection between us being revealed? It is to reveal the connection between our souls. This net that binds people together is spiritual, and it is called Adam HaRishon, the common soul.

We are “caught” in it like fish in a net – this is how we feel because we do not desire this connection! However, if you will desire to be connected to everyone else by this net, it will become a pleasure for you. Why? Because through this mutual connection, you will attain the Upper Force and spiritual life.

You are already inside this net – it is Nature itself. And the financial crisis, as well as all the other crises that are happening in different areas, are there for us to become aware of the net we are in.

What Should Women Strive For?

Perserverance Is the Key to SuccessThree questions I received on women’s roles and tasks:

Question: At one of the lessons, you said that a woman has to reach the quality of “bestowal for the sake of bestowal,” while a man needs to reach the quality of “reception for the sake of bestowal.” Does this mean that a woman cannot ascend higher than the degree of “bestowal for the sake of bestowal”?

My Answer: She can, but only by helping the men.

Question: You said that only the men have to reach the degree of “love your neighbor as yourself,” through the group. So what are we, the women of Bnei Baruch, trying to achieve?

My Answer: You have to support the men in accomplishing this task. This is how you will receive your entire correction. As we are told in regard to the Torah’s reception: the men have to achieve a “Mutual Guarantee,” and the women have to help them.

Question: Am I correct in my understanding that the women’s task is to direct and help the men come out of the animate egoism? And maybe men will then see us, the women, differently also?

My Answer: Definitely! The female part of humanity actually directs the male part.

International Energy Agency Warns Of New Gigantic Economic Crisis In 2013

In the News (from IRNA): The world could face a new gigantic economic crisis in 2013 as a result of a massive global oil shortage, the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA) said Saturday. The IEA chief voiced alarm, pointing to a drastic drop in global oil reserves as well as oil output capacities by 2013. “We could be headed towards a new crisis whose dimension could exceed the present one,” [said] IAE director Nobuo Tanaka.

My Comment: The crisis began decades ago, roughly in the middle of the 20th century. It was discussed in the Club of Rome and then in the Club of Budapest, of which I was a member. The crisis is multidimensional; it is happening in all areas of man’s activity. I have been speaking about it from the point of view of Kabbalah for the last decade.

However, people started worrying only when the crisis became economic, when it hit our pockets. We have lost a lot of time, and we have to take action now (better late than never). Otherwise, the crisis will develop and become even worse. It will continue until suffering will make people realize that they have to become similar to Nature, to become integrally connected and attain a mutual guarantee. Or, to put it simply, the crisis will continue until people begin to love their neighbor like they love themselves. Once they do, all the crises will end.
