The principle of loving your neighbor as yourself summarizes and includes all the principles. We carry out the principle of fear and the principle of love through unity by annulling ourselves before the group, and through mutual guarantee by receiving the Light that Reforms. The Light brings us the state of fear and then love.

All of it together is called “carrying out the 613 commandments.” This is talking about the correction of desires. Every desire neutralizes its egoism and acquires a screen, the intention of bestowal.

I don’t see the steps of the ladder ahead of time. I build them myself through self-renunciation, which enables me to hold on to the group more and more strongly. That is how a single Kli forms inside me, aimed at the single Creator. This requires the principle called “single corresponds to single.”

All of our efforts and corrections are aimed at building this unity. A person discerns it by aspiring toward it and suppressing everything else. Who does he unite with? With the group, which he evaluates using just one criterion: the goal. He joins just this point of the goal which is present in the group, and not anything else inside those around him. He bows down before unity, focusing on it.

Then he is single and he unites with the single group, discarding everything else in his desire in order to reveal the single Creator who is Good and Does Good: the quality of bestowal. Thus, through love for others, a person acquires love for the Creator.

Question: At the Convention how can we combine the inner attack with care for the newcomers and for the whole world?

Answer: First of all, I am not focusing on the whole world, but on the participants of the Convention. Every person who is there and whose heart is there participates in it together with us.

The Convention is the assembly of all the hearts that are ready to unite in order to attain equivalence of form with the Creator. We are creating and connecting desires in order to become similar to the Creator, to reveal Him.

All of our desires aim to unite into one in order to reach mutual bestowal. In that bestowal, we will reveal the Upper Light, the Creator, according to the law of equivalence of form.

I am thinking only of the people who are taking part in this. Even if someone participates only slightly, like a child, he is nevertheless a part of it. Meanwhile, the entire rest of the world remains outside of my field of vision.

Of course, we will disseminate information through the mass media, but I only feel those who want to be a part of this mission. The Convention is an act of inner dissemination among us. It is our interconnection, our covenant, our mutual guarantee, the reception of the Torah. We aren’t holding it in order to say something to the world. Our actions are directed inwards and we don’t dissipate by paying attention to the externality.

At the Convention we are facing our common task just as if we were standing around Mount Sinai. That task is unity. A “tribe of slaves” comes out of Egypt and they run away in the darkness, not knowing or understanding anything. They don’t even know where to run. Instead of honor, there’s an escape; instead of confidence, there’s fear and helplessness. Yet this sensation is correct and good.

After that they come to Mount Sinai, the revelation of hatred, and make a decision to attack, to step out against it because they don’t have any other way to go. Every person has no way out; he has to decide here and now, and desire for it to happen. Every person has to want it with everything he has. How will it come true? That’s not my problem. The Creator will complete what I started, but I have to demand it.

Even if I don’t agree to it at the bottom of my heart, even if I am scared, I still scream like a child as if I really can’t survive without the mutual guarantee.

Question: How should we transfer the inspiration of the Convention to the following period of descent?

Answer: If we prepare well during the period of the Convention by strengthening the connection between us, then this connection will help us immediately attach the ascents to the descents.

We really do have the opportunity not to fall. To achieve this we have to prepare at the Convention in such a way that afterwards we won’t perceive the burdening of the heart and desires as evil, but as a means and an opportunity to ascend.

We have reached a special state – a great unity of people who are different, foreign, and distant from each other. In essence, we are all of Babylon, yet at the same time we are able to create a connection where we can use the example of unity we will receive at the Convention and then constantly remain in it.

We must only maintain the same inspiration, the same connection, and the same importance of the goal, holding on to the example we received, holding on to the force we attracted during the unity. Then we won’t have any problem rising up the spiritual degrees.

Unity fills us with energy and the realization of the goal’s greatness and importance. We have to act in a way that will prevent the subsequent states from becoming descents into darkness. We must see them as desirable and necessary ahead of time, according to the principle, “I awaken the dawn instead of the dawn awakening me.”

We await the darkness just as the Light because it offers us the chance to ascend.

Question: How can I tell that I am not mistaken when assessing my desires?

Answer: You shouldn’t pay attention to your desires. What difference does it make what is happening there and how bad things are? At the end of the day what can you possibly find there besides self-love which has taken you over and doesn’t let you ascend?

The most useful thing to do is to feel the degree to which I don’t accept the group’s opinion and goal, and the unity and mutual guarantee of the friends. If I am united with them, then I will always discover that that they are better than me at this. However, if I don’t have a part in their unity, this fact already indicates that they are higher than me.

It doesn’t matter what state they are in. Unification automatically puts them above me no matter how high I rise. That is because unity is the Kli with which the Light works, while an individual is nothing.

Question: How can we be sure that we are on the right path?

Answer: The only way to check this is through the connection between us. The solution to all questions lies in the place where the breaking occurred.

Are we coming closer to correcting it? This is the entire issue. If I see that I am uniting with the spiritual sparks of my friends, that from one day to the next we are becoming more and more united, that our desires for the quality of bestowal among us are becoming more precise and consolidated, this means I am on the right path.

What matters is the extent to which I have the right idea of the picture. My demand to the friends comes later. First of all I have to check my own attitude: Do I see that the solution to all my problems, questions, and requests resides there, inside our unity?

Every person, even a total beginner, can participate in the Convention and join it. We have to understand that there is general work and individual work, and the difference between them is vast.

Individual work in spirituality is very difficult. However, if the same work is carried out jointly in a society, it becomes very easy. Imagine that you had to move a rock weighing a ton; you wouldn’t be able to move it an inch no matter how hard you tried. But if you bring twenty people and each of them takes 50 pounds upon himself then you would be able to move it. And if you bring twenty more people, it would be even easier for every person.

However, in spirituality everything is moved by the power of the Light! We attract the Light through our connection with each other so it would move the rock.

This is a completely different approach! It requires the right connection among us, and then a “cliff” will move on its own by us simply glancing at it.

The Creator is present inside of us, and if we want to unite, the Light is already present inside us! If 6,000 people get together wishing to unite, they contain the Light and this Light works.

We have set the purpose and mood of the Convention to be “standing at the foot of Mount Sinai.” We are coming together in order to unite. It is not just to show respect for The Book of Zohar or anything else, but rather, to implement our unity at the level where we will reveal the Upper One.

At this Convention we are taking on an obligation and this scares us. Let this fear remain. Let us come there not in order to have fun with others or to tearfully hug each other at a three day long picnic. Rather, we are getting together in order to carry out very important work, which gives us great responsibility. We have a desperate need for it and we are “wound up” to do it. Most importantly, we are taking on the obligation ahead of time to provide mutual guarantee to one another.

It is similar to how a laser is prepared for operation by being revved up. Active processes take place in its working environment and the illumination is continually increased and multiplied until it bursts forth with a very powerful, focused beam.

That is how we are “winding ourselves up” today for an “attack.” We are not giving up for anything. No matter what happens, we are preparing to ambush. We have all the necessary forces for doing this and all the necessary preparatory base.

If we forestall this, then things will only get worse and much more difficult. All the troubles and suffering are caused only by falling behind, by our not accelerating time and simply allowing things to happen as they will.

On the other hand, if we attain success, then new forces will suddenly join us and we will find new means to achieve unity among us. Therefore, all of the time we have left until the Convention should be devoted to preparation. We have to leave behind all the fears besides the one fear that makes us feel responsible, similar to the unceasing worry a mother feels for her baby.

Question: What is the goal we want to achieve at the upcoming Convention?

Answer: We all expect an opportunity to unite at the Convention in order to achieve mutual guarantee. Mutual guarantee is the force of mutual connection which determines the degree of one’s soul. We have to attain the first degree of connection among us in order for the Creator to be revealed inside it.

Even if we won’t be able to stay on this degree all the time, we’ll at least be able to temporarily. It is already possible for us to come in contact with this state so the Light will glow for us and then disappear. Nevertheless, a person already receives a spiritual impression. He knows it exists and understands what he is going toward.

When this happens to a big mass of people, it is very effective. I hope to achieve this together with you and obviously, everything depends on our preparation, our faith in success, and the confidence that we deserve it!

Question: When people come to the Convention and see the great work and preparations that were done, will we be able to revoke the differences between us and feel total equality?

Answer: Everything that is now being prepared for the Convention all over the world together with us is being done from the bottom of people’s hearts; we are all in one single vessel or desire. People who are far away from us and do not have the opportunity to come are still able to support us in thought. They transmit their desire to us and the aspiration to be closer.

What we end up with is the right combination, arranged by the Creator, where everyone unites together. We lack just one thing: the common thought about mutual guarantee!

Forget about all the external differences. In the end everything must become part of one whole, one common mutual guarantee. We have to become “as one man with one heart” together with all of our friends all over the world. As soon as we achieve the first feeling of contact, the spiritual quality of connection, then inside it the Creator will immediately be revealed according to the law of equivalence of form.

The first degree of mutual guarantee is the initial degree of the spiritual ladder. This entire ladder is the implementation of the levels of mutual guarantee: from 0% to 100%, the 125^th degree. At the Convention we are trying to reach the initial condition of mutual guarantee on the simplest level, and to hold on to it at least temporarily.

This is possible if we all desire it passionately and are able to transmit this aspiration to one another. Only a small fraction of the people will be able to attain this state consciously, while the rest will join them. We are connected together in a spiritual scheme, a Partzuf in the form of a pyramid that has a peak (men from 20 to 60 years old whose might is 60 x 10,000) and lower layers (called the elderly, women, and children). However, eventually we all unite together in one group (nation) that “stands at the foot of Mount Sinai.”

When the innermost part, the “men between 20 and 60 years old” take the mutual guarantee upon themselves, then all the others, the newcomers, join them. Everyone becomes included in one whole and is deemed “one nation,” which receives the spiritual revelation. It is written that the entire nation heard the Creator’s voice from Mount Sinai. However, the innermost group is the first to take on the actual condition of mutual guarantee.
