Medium published my new article “We Can Soften the Onslaught”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” 2020, which Time magazine dubbed the “worst year ever,” has barely ended but it already seems like 2021 will “outperform” its former as far as misfortunes go. It seems as though nature has launched an all-out onslaught on humanity and will not let up until it kills us all or we surrender. But as is always the case with science and humanity, when we don’t understand the cause and effect relation, we call it a miracle or a coincidence. This is nonsense. If you drive against traffic, you will get hit. The accident will not be a coincidence; it will be a direct result of your stupidity, as MLK has pointed out.

Nature has a very clear direction, a very clear traffic flow that has existed since the dawn of time: Everything moves toward connection. The more evolved a creature is, the more complexity it demonstrates. This manifests on all levels of nature, from the subatomic level through the human body, to the Earth’s ecosystem, and onto the entire universe. Everything is interconnected and functions perfectly within the system. In turn, the system protects it and supports its continuous development.

Only we, humans, are driving against traffic. The more we evolve, the more we strive to be individuals, separated, alienated from everyone and everything. The more we insist on our individualism, the more blows we suffer precisely because we are moving against traffic. If we continue to insist, we will have a fatal car crash; there should be no doubt about it.

Our ignorance of nature’s stream and our stupidity in insisting not to learn about it have inflicted on us all the blows we have suffered so far, and will inflict on us the blows that we are destined to suffer down the line. It is a terrible shame since it really needn’t be this way. All we need is to recognize that we, too, must evolve toward connection rather than division and separation. This is all it takes to align us with nature’s flow of evolution. It will make the blows we are suffering now for going the opposite direction become a tailwind that will push us forward to new heights and unimaginable achievements.

Nature’s apparent “onslaught” is really our own doing. We can soften it and even reverse it into nurturing if we only open our eyes, discard our ignorance, abandon division, and embrace the connection that is nature’s most inherent quality.

Medium published my new article “The Superior Principles that Guarantee Life”

It is not only America that’s falling apart. The Dutch government resigned in its entirety, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is stepping down, the Italian government is on the brink of collapse, and the coronavirus is wreaking havoc all over the world. Vaccines have already been developed, but new and more infectious strains have already appeared spreading more rapidly and with a higher death toll than before there were vaccines. And worst of all, we are shifting into a new phase in the collapse of the old world: from lack of work to lack of food. If we don’t wake up soon, we will wake up to a plague of hunger, and people will smash everything for a piece of bread for their children.

The only way to avert the looming meltdown is to reconstruct society under new, non-egoistic principles. This does not mean that we have to become altruistic, but we must understand that if we continue to behave selfishly toward each other, we will die; it’s as simple as that.

The new principle that must be the basis of the new society is connection, or rather, mutuality. Succinctly, mutuality means that we must treat everyone, whoever they are, equally. We must make sure that every single person receives the basic necessities that allow for reasonable subsistence. This principle must override any border, view, race, gender identity, faith, or any other difference among people.

Since the problem that the world is going to face is lack of staple foods, the first and foremost expression of our connection must be the provision of sufficient nutrition to everyone. Whether people are Communists, Nazis, or any other extreme you can imagine, we must still provide everyone without exception with the basic needs of life.

As we attempt to achieve this, we will find that we need a global, overarching organization that will guarantee that everyone, in every country, gets those staples. Clearly, such an umbrella organization brings to mind the image of a global government with all the justified concerns about excessive use of power. However, without global coordination of food manufacturing and distribution, chaos will ensue everywhere.

The era of self-sufficient nation states is over. Just as the coronavirus has spread throughout the world faster than a brush fire, so will any crisis going forward. Without global collaboration that genuinely seeks the well-being of everyone, we will not survive. And nothing is more fitting to start our global cooperation than guaranteeing food supply to every single person on the planet. This will not only be our biggest test yet, but it will also be the proper basis on which to build humanity’s new establishments, which will cater to the well-being of all of humanity.

It has already been shown — and I, too, have written about it multiple times — that the seemingly endless stream of crises are all connected to our attitude toward each other and to nature. Countless scientists and scientific institutions have published studies that link our mistreatment of other people and the whole of nature to the collapse of our global ecosystem. The current global institutions are powerless; they are dummies with no real power, and perhaps it is only for the best, since they actually represent the interests of their countries and have no real concern for the well-being of humanity.

As I said in the beginning of this piece, the global institution that will oversee the food provision project need not consist of altruists. Besides, as we know, altruists are very hard to find these days. Instead, the people who will lead this project will be those who understand that it is in our egoistic interest to guarantee everyone’s well-being, or the global system will collapse. This understanding is imperative, and it is realistic to find such people.

Understandably, governments will not be happy to yield any power to such an institution, but we can trust nature to do its thing and force them to comply the hard way, at the expense of all of us. There are trying times ahead, but if we understand that our lives are at stake, and how we can save them, perhaps we will succeed.

My new article on Linkedin “Finding Light in the Darkness”

Suffering, polarization and confusion abounds in people’s lives today. It is hard to see the horizon with a clear perspective of where society is heading when everything around us looks gloomy and frightening, but there is a way to discover light in a bleak situation. In fact, it is precisely the contrast of opposites that makes a new and better reality possible.

The confrontation between darkness and light is depicted in almost all our stories and movies. There are always good and bad characters, and the hero is the one who uses his or her special attributes to help everyone in need. However, depending on the angle from which we view our story, characters that were initially good evolve into evil, and bad ones turn out to be good. Does it mean that in our lives darkness and light depend on the individual perception of each?

In the life of the individual, the answer is yes. However, from the level of the laws of nature, we are able to note a consistent pattern: good is what helps all parts of nature connect in a positive and useful way, where each part benefits and supplements the others, and bad is what causes separation and conflict between people.

If we all yearn for light, why does darkness exist in the world? Evil exists in the world so that we can distinguish the good from it. These two opposite forms are always present. There is no plus without a minus. Only by placing something between opposites that effectively connects them, can we enjoy the presence of both.

We need to start learning the art of building a positive attitude toward each and every person above our inclination to try to benefit at the expense of others and start establishing an environment where each member takes care of others.

However, in our perception of the world right now, we see many different, contrasting, and even conflicting groups. Each one considers their own position as right and the others as wrong. How can humanity ever achieve a common unified state when such divisions abound between us?

The solution can be found in a unity that needs to be built above the differences and divisions rather than between them. It is written about such unity that “Love will cover all crimes.”

Leave the differences and divisions alone. Let them remain. Be aware of them and understand that we are remote and opposite from one another. We need to reach the understanding that our differences are part and parcel of the egoistic nature into which we were each born and raised. Because nature has taken care of making each one of us a unique individual with a unique assembly of views and experiences, we cannot expect any kind of uniformity across very diverse populations to emerge if we try to think and act solely from within the level of our differences and divisions.

However, at the same time, it is also clear that without discovering a way to unite us all on some level, we will continue to endure more and more suffering. So what is the solution?

The solution is not to try and establish unity at the same level of our disagreements, but to rise above them and discover a new kind of reality where we positively connect above our divergences.

The laws of nature act in such a way that if we attempt to rise above what separates us, then we gain the support of nature to help us. In such an inclination and effort we discover positive forces dwelling in nature, which are waiting for us to activate them through our common effort to connect above our differences.

By putting into action regular motions to unite, we will discover the solution for overcoming any disagreement and conflict. We will reveal that although we differ in our individual natural characteristics, a common tendency to positively connect above our differences is able to hold greater importance, and this will give us the strength to unite.

Then we will create a form of unity in which we all support each other. We will be able to acknowledge our negative and critical feelings toward others, and unite above them. It will allow us to see a harmonious, whole and balanced world, with each one of us acting like cells and organs within one body, participating together as one in the creation of a society of united, happy, confident and safe people.

My new article on Linkedin “Toward a Year of Reckoning”

2021 will not be an easy year for America. It will not be an easy year anywhere or for anyone, but Americans are likely to feel the heat more than others. The conditions for a perfect storm have ripened; the combination of a plague that claims thousands of lives daily, a failing economy and uncertainty about the future of personal finance, searing hatred between Left and Right and Blacks and Whites, and loss of confidence in both the media and the authorities will force Americans to either stop everything and contemplate their future as a nation, or let the country accelerate its downward spiral to destruction.

Everyone already recognizes the severity of the situation; everyone is already talking about it, and I am really happy that they are. I hope that these scrutinies, however tough they may be, will help the country get a grip on itself and put some order in the chaos.

The two forces struggling in America, between Left and Right, are two approaches to life that exist all over the world. America possesses all the contradictions; it is a kind of modern Babylon. For this reason, if Americans can overcome their divisions and form some form of solidarity above their differences, which will certainly remain, then America will set an example that everyone will gladly follow.

Precisely because America, more than any other country, has enshrined self-centeredness, their reversal of this ideology will indicate to the rest of the world that it is indeed possible to restrain the ego. If they discover that they have no choice but to “dethrone” the ego since the egoistic system no longer works, and the economic and social systems they have built around it are falling apart, they will have the required motivation to unite above the spite and rancor that have surfaced mainly over the past year. It will not be pleasant, but a reckoning, a recognition of the illnesses within society is mandatory if they are to set off a healing process.

Empires, too, rise and fall. But when an empire such as the United States of America falls, it will pull down with it many other countries and people. Everyone will suffer from the death of such a massive system as the US, not just Americans, though they will suffer most of all.

So far, I have yet to see the forces or people who are bold enough, impartial enough, and publicly accepted enough to lead the process of America’s healing. However, as long as it is possible to reverse the trend, we must not lose hope. The times ahead will tell if we have merited the title “humans,” and rose above our egos to form a new union of society, or have succumbed to our egos and gave up the helm to the beast within us.

My new article on Linkedin “Can We Bridge a Chasm that No One Wants to Bridge?”

It is written, “Where there are no people, try to be a person” (Mishnah, Avot, 2:5). It seems very fitting that we should invoke this adage at a time when people have lost all trust in one another, in the authorities, and feel hopeless about the future. We are going through a hard awakening, a reckoning of the fragility of our society.

Democracy has proven its vulnerability once more. Italy was a democracy before it fell prey to fascism. Germany was a democracy before it succumbed to Nazism. Even the founder of China’s communism originally intended to form a democracy. The celebrated historian Maurice Meisner wrote about Mao Zedong, “Neither the terms ‘socialism’ nor ‘Bolshevism’ appeared in Mao’s ‘Manifesto.’ Rather, it was ‘democracy’ that Mao called ‘the basic ideology’ of resistance to oppression.” Now, it seems as though the United States of America is going through the same ordeal when a dream becomes a nightmare.

Does democracy always have to fail? Why does totalitarianism always seem to overcome it? Perhaps if we understand this, we will understand how to save our agonizing society.

Like it or not, different people have different views. There will never be sameness of ideas in any society at any time because, as our sages said (Midrash Rabbah, 21:2), “As their faces are not similar, so their views are not the same. Rather, each and every one has his own opinion.” So how do we determine who is right when we are destined to be different? Why must my opinion be right and the other’s opinion wrong if neither of us can convince the other? Is there a bug in the system?

No, there is no bug. The bug is in our understanding of the system. There is no similarity of views because there isn’t meant to be. There is meant to be diversity! Again, different opinions are not disagreements; they are diversity!

Why must there be diversity? Without diversity, there is no evolution, no growth, no life. Everything exists only through diverse, and usually opposite elements working together to maintain the system they inhabit. From particles of atoms to clusters of galaxies, the universe consists of opposites cooperating to maintain the system they occupy.

Animals, too, kill each other for food, but thereby maintain the health and guarantee the survival of the species that they hunt. We are living in a world of contradictions because only contradictions guarantee development and progress.

But we, people, are an exception. We establish democracies precisely because we value diversity and the necessity for disagreements as a basis for advancement, yet we yield before our egos and determine that only our view is correct. As our egos take control, we lose sight of the fact that stymying diversity is a death sentence to ourselves and to society? How can we not realize that it is precisely the opposite opinion that makes our own opinion matter? How can we not realize that it is my ideological adversary who gives my ideology merit?

If we silence one another, we will not only silence ourselves, as well, we will silence our minds, our hearts, and will eventually destroy our society and our lives. Nothing can be more dangerous than the belief that only I am right, and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

Being a person, to return to the opening proverb, means championing diversity when everyone scolds it. It means not thinking that only my view is right, but rather maintaining my view because this is my side of the bridge, while cherishing the fact that other people, who maintain other views, are maintaining the other side of it. The name of the bridge is diversity, and we build it by championing multiplicity of views. This is the only way we can begin to advance.

Just as we cannot walk on only one leg, but need both legs in order to move forward, so our opinions need each other so that we, as a society can advance. Where there are no people, it is because there are no bridges between them. Build them, and be a person.

My new article on Linkedin “Impeachment of the System”

President Trump’s second impeachment is not just his own. It marks the collapse of the entire system, a collapse of the constitution. There needs to be a whole revision here, a rebuilding of the system. Very soon, it will become unmistakably clear that everything is falling apart—the business world, the whole economy, the entire monetary system, the society, the judicial system, policy making, everything will fall apart. America will have to close down everything, clean it all up, and rebuild itself from scratch.

I have no doubt that the current domination of the Left will only strengthen the Right. Although currently, the Left seems much more intimidating, and people are afraid to speak their minds, the result will be a general system collapse, and it will begin precisely with the Left.

What we are seeing now in America is what we saw in Soviet Russia. In the end, everything becomes corrupt, rotten to the core, and everything falls apart. When institutions become dysfunctional, when ties among the various parts of society disintegrate beyond repair, everything crumbles.

And what is happening in America will happen elsewhere. These historic events will catalyze dramatic changes the world over. Humanity is quickly approaching a point of reckoning, when people understand that they cannot keep going the way they have been going for so long, thinking only about themselves. Capitalism will not work, and neither will socialism or communism.

The solution will not come through choosing a different ideological path, but through an overall collapse that will impel people to realize that they are hopelessly dependent on each other. This will force people to construct systems that, for the first time in history, will truly cater to everyone’s needs, rather than only to those in positions of power.

We are going into a new era, a new generation when people understand that if they let their egos rule, they will destroy the world, so they fight not against each other but against their own egos. It will be a generation when we don’t have to work so much for our living, but we have to work a whole lot on our connections. In the coming years, people will spend more time fixing and improving their social relations than on their regular jobs; this will be the new necessity.

Only when we focus on our relations, we will be able to “inaugurate” the new system—the social system of government, which will be neither socialistic nor capitalistic, but a social-economic system whose indices measure social connections, whose GDP measures expressions of solidarity, and whose currency is contribution to the community, city, state, and country.

My new article on Linkedin “Back to the Days of One and Only Truth”

I grew up in Soviet Russia under the communist Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) regime. In those days, everything was simple: There was only one truth, which came out of the one party, and you could read about it in the only newspaper to be found, which was aptly named Pravda [Truth]. There were no other views to be heard or seen, and the whole nation was brought up and educated according to the one pravda in existence.

On the other side of the world was the great adversary of the truth: America! America had all kinds of ideas, such as more than one party, and the belief that everyone has the right to his or her own opinion, even if it contradicts the pravda. They were the enemy!

The problem with the USSR was that people insisted on having different ideas. Some were devout communists, and some were not. Some even advocated capitalism, the kind that was implemented on the other side of the world. Of course, we couldn’t talk about it, but people still believed it. In the end, it all blew, and blew, and blew, until it blew up.

I can understand the leaders of Soviet Russia; they were only acting naturally. Everyone wants to rule, and when one gets a chance to rule, and eliminate the competition along the way, it stands to reason that he or she will attempt it.

Yet, the world doesn’t consist of only one side but of two (with many in between). We, the people in the middle, must reconcile between the two extremes and use them to our benefit, to everyone’s benefit!

We think of ourselves as separate beings, that only our view matters and an opposite opinion is wrong by default. We forget that were it not for that other opinion, ours would not exist, as well. Instead of realizing that only the joint operation of all views in society creates a complete society, and instead of joining more and more contradictions under the umbrella of our union, we squander our lives trying to destroy those sinful souls whose sin is that they see things differently from us. As a result, there is no union, and there is no society at all, and even our view no longer counts. If you don’t believe me, go look in Russia, see if you can find there communism or capitalism. In the absence of one, you lose the other, too.

Today’s America is rushing toward Russia’s past. Big tech media have decided whose voice should be heard and they will see that only this voice is heard, this voice is the only one that is pravda. The rest is, well, fake news. In order to protect the pravda, everything that contradicts it must be taken off and cancelled: posts, channels, people.

Imagine your heart deciding that your brain is spreading false information to the rest of the body and should therefore be silenced, so your heart stops the blood flow to your brain. Do you realize what that would mean? This is what media giants are doing to society, and it will end exactly the same as if your heart has stopped the blood flow to your brain.

The only solution to the unfolding havoc in America is to realize that union is more important than any particular view. And how do you know with whom to unite? Unite precisely with the one who disagrees with you. And how do you unite? Verify that the person you are facing agrees with you on nothing, verify that he or she understands that no one view has merit on its own, and then go out for a beer together to celebrate your disagreement, as simple as that.

Again, you needn’t agree; you need to appreciate yourselves for being able to transcend your disagreements. This is what makes you human, humane, and not that fact that you advocate some fabricated notion about human society that someone planted in your mind.

In the end, if there is only one truth, it is the truth of our inexorable diversity. Let’s celebrate it, as this is what gives us life.

My new article on Linkedin “The Futility of Leading the World in Vaccinations”

As far as vaccinating its population, Israel is leading the world by such a huge margin that the country in second place, the UAE, is just over half as successful as Israel, and the United States, where the vaccinations are manufactured, is at a distant no. 5, with a vaccination rate that is eight times slower than that of Israel, per capita. Astounded world leaders send delegations to Israel to learn what it is that we are doing right. But while leaders are in awe, the rest of the world is far less impressed, and, stranger still, the infection rate is not declining despite the vaccinations and despite the closure. Why are the vaccines not working?

Instead of admiration, we’re getting admonition from all sides. People are blaming Israel for denying vaccines to the Palestinians. It’s not true, of course, but the truth doesn’t matter. If the Palestinians were to get them first, before any Israeli person, people would say that Israel is trying to eliminate them. Since they’re not getting them fast enough (in some people’s opinion), people are saying that we want them to die of Covid. Either way, their woe is our fault. That’s how it’s always been, and that’s how it’ll always be until we start doing what we must.

Our success in vaccinating the population is remarkable, but it’s not something we should brag about. If we were smarter, we would have done it more quietly and not showed off the numbers. Generally, I don’t see any cause for pride; we’ve created a huge national debt, a huge deficit, and I don’t think that the hope that in a few months the economy will recover thanks to the vaccines and we’ll be able to pay off the debt has any legs to stand on.

It’s great that we’re vaccinating the population but we didn’t do the most important thing, so the vaccines will not help. As long as we don’t follow nature’s laws, nature will keep steering the nations against us. Nature’s laws dictate that Israel will set an example of unity, but we are busy declaring new political parties every other day. We are not an example in the eyes of the world; we are a mockery. A typical comment by a non-Jew to a tweet that one Jew wrote against another stated: “I was told that it’s usually Jews who hate Jews the most.” They look at us with pity.

It’s not as if they don’t know what they want from us. Deep down, the most rabid antisemites feel what they are looking for in Jews. When they blame us for causing all the wars, as did Mel Gibson, for example, they are actually saying that we could prevent these wars. And indeed we could, if we only set an example of unity. But when we set an example of mutual disgust and hatred, this is what the world absorbs from us. Will it be a wonder then that at some point the nations will decide to get rid of us?

It’s not as if we never did anything right. Judaism is based on the most laudable values. We are the only people who became a nation only after they committed to love one another “as one man with one heart”; we are the only nation whose motto was “Love your neighbor as yourself”; and we are the only nation that was tasked with being “a light unto nations,” to set an example of love of others and mutual responsibility.

This is the example that antisemites want us to give. Henry Ford, clearly one of the most notorious antisemites in American history, wrote in his book The International Jew—the World’s Foremost Problem, “Modern reformers, who are constructing model social systems, … would do well to look into the social system under which the early Jews were organized.” Likewise, Vasily Shulgin, a senior member of the Russian Parliament before the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, was known for his rabid antisemitism. In his book What We Don’t Like About Them..., he wrote about Jews: “Let them … rise to the height to which they apparently climbed [in antiquity] … and immediately, all nations will rush to their feet. They will rush not by virtue of compulsion … but by free will, joyful in spirit, grateful and loving, including the Russians!”

There are more examples but the message is clear. Our job, the job of the Israelis, and the job of every Jew, is to set an example of unity. Whenever we do anything else, it is interpreted as an act against the nations, and we interpret their counter reaction as antisemitism. Therefore, if we want to eliminate antisemitism, we must eliminate division among us. This is what nature’s law demands of us. If we do this, we will inoculate ourselves against any misfortune, including viruses, wars, economic crises and every other misfortune, since we will be in congruence with nature.

My new article on Linkedin “Why We Are Stoic about Two Million Covid Fatalities”

Over the past year, some two million people have died of the coronavirus disease. Yet, how alarmed are we? Let’s face it; we’re not. We’re terribly anxious over the shutting down of businesses, movie theatres, sports arenas, schools, and other such deprivations of entertainment and engagement, but what about the two million victims of the virus? We’re quite stoic about it.

Indeed, if you consider the global population, two million fatalities from Covid-19 is not a lot. We treat it like a natural phenomenon, a case of force majeure so to speak, so we are pretty calm about it.

But there is a bigger problem here: We are oblivious to the purpose of the plague, and because of it, we are already brewing the next blow, which will be more painful and more widespread than even the coronavirus. If all we care about is not being able to go to bars and movies, then we are bringing on ourselves a worse disaster than the virus, something that will force us to look for the root of these catastrophes, and not pin our hopes on vaccines that are only good until the next, resistant mutation comes along.

The root cause of the plague is our corrupt relations toward each other. These relations aren’t just smashing the fabric of society, as we are seeing now all over the US. Exploitation and ill-will are destroying the fabric of our entire world. They are deleterious to our society, to our planet, to our health, and to all animal species. They prevent us from cooperating for the benefit of all of humanity; they do not let us work shoulder to shoulder to save our planet. The distrust does not let us mend the wounds of our society, which leads to violence, aggression, bigotry, poverty, depression, substance abuse, and wars.

Our mistreatment of each other causes us to mistreat everything around us: the soil, the water, the air, plants, animals, and people. All of them suffer because we hate each other, and they react accordingly. This is why storms are growing more intense, fires more widespread and common, and plagues spread faster and appear sooner than ever before. The message from all of them is clear: Fix your relations or your relations will destroy you.

We haven’t the prerogative to be stoic about Covid-19’s victims because doing so destroys our future. If we correct our relations, it will calm the ordeals that I just mentioned and we will find peace, and peace of mind. Otherwise, we’re in for a very bad year, and an even worse decade.

My new article on Linkedin “The Big Tech Bans Is the Beginning of Their End”

The ban that big tech companies put on President Donald Trump’s social media accounts and conservative platforms is bad news for everyone. Even German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose socialistic views often put her at odds with President Trump, released a statement saying that “The chancellor considers it problematic that the president’s accounts have been permanently suspended.” Her concern wasn’t personal for Trump, but rather because “The right to freedom of opinion is of fundamental importance.”

Similar to Merkel, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador lambasted the social media ban saying, “I don’t like anybody being censored or taking [sic] away from the right to post a message on Twitter or Facebook. I don’t agree with that, I don’t accept that.” Even more active is Poland: According to Zero Hedge, “Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro announced a legal initiative on Thursday which enables individuals to file complaints against social media companies who remove or censor their posts if they don’t break Polish law.”

I fully concur with the criticism of social media big tech. No one gave them the right to censor free speech. This prerogative is given solely to the people at the political helm of countries, not to a small coterie who decide to take the law into their own hands. Just as an electrician cannot switch someone’s power off just because he feels like it, social media big tech cannot ban accounts on a whim. Even more ironic is that they profess to do so to protect people’s safety. Clearly, if this is allowed to continue, it will lead to very bad results.

However, I believe that by doing what they did, they stuck the last nail in their casket. They may think that they are ruling the world, but they will vanish. One way or the other, and sooner rather than later, people will realize that they can’t trust what they see on the media, and without trust, they’ll stop coming. If the system we rely on for truthful news becomes so openly biased, no one will believe a word they say and there will be no point going to their sites.

This reckoning will finally awaken people to the realization that the true culprit in the crisis unfolding before us is not a person or a group of persons, but a trait rooted in human nature: egoism. Pure, unadulterated egocentrism is at the heart of all our problems, and it is killing us from within and from without.

When we realize this, we will also realize that all of reality but us operates on a completely different fuel from ours. While our fuel is ego, their fuel is balance and harmony. Just as we don’t feel that we are so egoistic, as this is our nature, so the rest of nature does not feel how balanced and harmonious it is. But we, who can observe it from the outside since we are opposite from it, can detect the balance and harmony that dominate all of existence.

When we realize this, we, too, will want to become balanced and harmonious. And when we do, we will begin to learn, together, how to truly build a thriving human society, a prosperous economy that does not deny others their own. We will learn how to empower one another rather than exploit our fellow human beings, and our fellow residents on the only planet we have got. At that time, we will not need despotic social networks to connect us since the connections will be in our hearts.
