Question: People tend to think that mutual guarantee and unification is a threat to their exclusivity, that it erases their individuality. Every person feels special and does not want to give up this feeling for the sake of unity….

Answer: A person will always keep his exclusivity. No one will have to give up his initial, unique qualities. We unite on a level higher, above them.

Suppose I join a creative association of workers in the television industry: artists, screenwriters, authors, and other creative people who work to create a large-scale piece of art together. Should each of them stand out with his own individuality? Or on the contrary, should each be equally mediocre? Clearly, we need outstanding individuals with unique talents who put forth their best effort for the common endeavor.

We do not lose our exclusivity, but we lower our heads before the goal, before our brainchild. This is exactly what enables every person to reveal himself.

Today nature is placing us in conditions where we will involuntarily have to give up the animate excesses, which actually bring us nothing but harm. We have to build our lives based on what is good for the body, and not exceed this norm by an ounce. After all, anything beyond that leads to diseases and problems.

On the other hand, all of our successive movement, all of our development and flourishing, and the entire abundance of personal qualities will be realized in the spiritual dimension. Stated differently, in society I can find opportunities for self-expression, for personal contribution and participation as a person who is creative and influential. I can do many things in society and I do not demand anything in return besides a normal, sufficient, safe material life. The environment provides for the needs of my animate body, and in all other regards I want to be part of everyone, and there, in the common whole, to find my happiness, pleasure, and vital forces.

That is precisely where I acquire unlimited opportunities. No one limits me, I do not lack anything, and I do not compete with anyone or try to get ahead of those who seem more successful. Like a painter or composer, I realize and express myself fully in my art—in the creative work for the common good. I feel like a creator, and this sensation fills all of my desires.

The evolution of humanity and its advancement was always happening on the basis of the development of our desires. New desires were constantly appearing in us: We wanted to develop technologies, agriculture, science, and culture; we discovered new lands, and so on. Overall, it’s as if man wanted to “consume” this entire world, and he has almost succeeded. As a result, he has basically mutilated nature, quite possibly irrevocably.

Now, however, a completely different action is taking place in nature. New desires no longer develop in us, and all the desires, qualities, and relationships that develop are beginning to take a completely different qualitative form.

We are no longer connected between us in a simple egoistic manner where we can regulate our relationships with legal, practical, and social laws, which somehow give us the ability to exist without “consuming” one another. Today we are beginning to feel like we exist beyond the laws accepted in human society. We are beginning to feel that we are connected with one another against our will and this is what is bad. I don’t want to be connected with anyone, I just cannot!

We left the caves, built huge cities, separated ourselves from the ground, and formed a human society where everything is so intermixed and interconnected that I am unable to exist without thousands of other people. And today I cannot exist without the entire world. I depend on different countries: One product is made in China, another in Japan, something else in the US. My car is from Japan, my television is from Germany, and so on. In general, none of my things are mine; they come from who knows where.

It is in this way that I am involved with the entire world through reception and bestowal since I also must give. This is with regard to the economic, financial, and trade connections.

What if we take into consideration everything else: health and safety (medications, materials), education, rearing, not to mention books and mass media? Today nothing can exist in a separate country. The world has become so interconnected that we all are obliged to one another.

And here a problem arises: Our egoism wishes to remain individualistic. “I don’t care about anyone else, leave me alone! Who cares about you and why do you care about me?” But this is no longer possible—I depend on everyone. Everyone demands something from me, and I must also receive something from them whether I want to or not.

And now this connection contradicts our egoism. I am ready to use everyone in the world, but what about giving? Sure, I am ready to buy-give. That is not it! A completely different connection is being revealed here: We affect one another with our thoughts, qualities, and feelings. Everything is passed from one person to another; the entire world seems to have become common.

I arrive in another country, and I don’t feel like I am in another country: It has the same hamburgers, the same pizza, the same soft drink, everything is the same. When you know the language (today English is becoming the international language), there is no difference at all where you live. You go to a supermarket or other stores, and there are the same things everywhere: goods, brands, and cars. In other words, the world has become one.

I am so involved in the entire world that I suddenly feel like I owe something to the rest. And this is a bad thing for me. My egoism does not tolerate this!

It turns out that the system we have created (the financial, trade, and world systems) does not take into consideration this type of interconnection, which is called mutual guarantee and is based on a normal, good attitude towards one another. This is not taken into consideration in the treaties. A situation arises when a certain willful, sensitive, and moral interaction with others is required of me. And I don’t want it! But the world, the entire system, is obligating me. This is where the crisis is.

The economic system of today’s world is the most obvious demonstration of our connection with one another. That’s because we are primarily connected through the economy, production, and trade. And we see that there are several thousand large corporations in the world that are interconnected, that envelop the whole world, not giving us a chance to move.

But they also can’t move! And now, to their shock, they are discovering this and don’t know what to do. They don’t have any freedom of movement in relation to one another.

This is how the common, global system of mutual guarantee is being revealed to us. But we don’t desire it, we don’t aspire to it from our end. Yet nature, the Creator, is showing us the mutual guarantee, our connection with one another. Under these conditions, how can my mind possibly help me?

The mind can only help me in one regard: to leave my animate mind and start learning, becoming familiar with this system.

However, this system is not built according to my earthly mind because my mind is personal, individual. It helps me exist in this egoistic world, showing me how to win more and do more for my own benefit, thinking that others were created to serve me.

But now, when I am revealing a system with which I am firmly connected and on which I am fully dependent, my previous mind stops working. I have to adapt to this new system! It’s as if I come to some unknown place and first of all I try to take a close look at what’s around me, to learn the customs of this place in order to adapt to them. And once I get to know it well, I can start acting in it and improving my state.

But how can we get to know this global system in which we have found ourselves if we cannot figure it out with our earthly mind? Even all of these huge corporations which seem to control the world, are in reality not in control of anything. And this is now being revealed to them. The mind of every particular person individually does not work just as the corporate mind does not.

It turns out that I now have to discard my animate mind and acquire a new mind—an integral way of thinking. This will be the creative mind, the mind of the common system, meaning the mind of the Creator.

It won’t be easy for us to acquire it. We will have to develop ourselves, turn ourselves into one, connected whole, try to feel ourselves as one person, one system. Then we will attain this single, connected system and will thereby “wrap up” our own egoistic desire and connect with one another. That is how we will gradually build our common vessel, reuniting the parts of the broken Lego.

Within the connection between us, we will reveal the upper mind, the program, its essence, and then we will understand what is happening! Only in this case will our state be corrected.

Our state won’t be corrected by us building something new on our own. All we have to do is to bring ourselves into greater similarity with the system of mutual guarantee that already exists and is now being revealed to us.

Our correction – and the only action we can make – is to unite. When we do so, we will reveal that we are part of a single upper system and everything will end up working out.

Until today economists had to construct highly sophisticated systems of connections and contracts, but from now on, none of this will be necessary anymore. Everything is already present within this new system. We must only adjust our human relationships to it – and that’s all. We don’t need anything else. All of the stock brokers can go fish.

We will suddenly discover that there is no more need for any professions besides those that provide us with the bare necessities of life. In this new system of connections between us, other professions won’t exist because the system will already be revealed as connected, perfect, coordinated, and ready-made.

These are not the same systems that we had to constantly build using our egoism, such as staging revolutionary transformations and new connections that we had to establish in the past. None of this will be necessary. By correcting the connection between us, our qualities, we include ourselves into the ideal system that already exists.

It exists today as well; we simply don’t know how to include ourselves in it and that is why we are ending up with such a crisis.

That is how humanity will reveal that there is nothing it can do! This entire animate mind of the past has to be discarded. We won’t be able to do anything with it any longer. All we need is to correct ourselves to reach mutual guarantee in order to enter the upper system that will become revealed more and more clearly – a system that is already made and perfect. We will become part of it and will continue existing this way.

Eventually, we will reveal that this system is the inner mind of creation, nature, or the Creator, which is the same thing. We will reveal the eternal and perfect life inside of this system, entering it ever more deeply. Our animate bodies will die and disappear, but we won’t feel that at all and will exist in this system merged with the Creator’s mind.

This system of connections, which we discover among us today, is the revelation of the upper, spiritual system. That is why the economic crisis is happening, which is a crisis in the system of connections between us. After all, precisely the economy connects us with one another, as it says in the Torah, “Go and earn from one another.”

This is what we have to reveal: How we can earn. And the answer is: by bestowing to one another! A completely unique period is upon us, which we are entering in our days.

Question: Where will the change come from? Will it happen as a result of the pressure people impose on the government to raise the poor to a normal standard of living? However, this would be a forced measure where neither side understands why they are doing it. Or will there be a change in people’s consciousness?

Answer: It does not matter how it is reached. However, the first state on our path toward correction needs to be to make sure that there is no one left hungry and that everyone becomes educated to live in a new world.

Otherwise, if we do not introduce this kind of education, the blows will continue, and our entire path will be through constant suffering and disasters. However, if we guarantee education and bread for all the people, then this will be enough for every person to advance and reach the goal.

I do not know what will make the government turn in this direction. Perhaps, it will be our dissemination or the common crisis that will continue to increase.

It is clear that everything depends on man’s inner changes, but what should we do until people change? We cannot force the poor to wait and go on being hungry. This is why it is necessary to make sure people receive what they need.

You would think it is a good thing that people have problems that force them to protest in the streets because it gives us an opportunity to go to them and tell them about the mutual guarantee. But no, it is the law of mutual guarantee that obligates us to first make sure that everyone has bread.

Thus, if I were the government, I first would realize two top priority programs. First, raise everyone above poverty level. This must be an economic program. Second, provide everyone with an integral education and knowledge of the new world that humanity needs in order to survive today.

This way, we would solve all the other problems, such as in children’s education, the breakdown of the family unit, and the relationships between people. All the corrections will come from a general, integral upbringing that can be divided into many discreet subjects.

Meanwhile, people will pressure the government, and opposite forces will play against each other until we come to the front of the stage and disseminate the method of mutual guarantee so that it becomes deeply ingrained in people. Right now, every side is acting on behalf of its own truth, but none will succeed because nothing can help without a preliminary education for the sake of mutual guarantee and connection. Every side has wonderful arguments, and they seem to be right in their own way. However, at the same time, none is right because none of what they propose is a solution.

We can only agree with one proposition, which is that the first priority is education. After education, we will see what changes need to be made in society. This is because education will provide us with the knowledge of the world we live in. Any reasonable person understands that people need to have knowledge before making any decisions.

These mutual discussions and questions are very beneficial for advancement. After a week or two, you suddenly will discover that you are a different person. You suddenly will begin to think in a more global way and connect to others in a different way. This will become your normal state of mind.

These changes are easy to achieve. Instead of receiving heavy blows, people will change just by listening to an article and discussing it with others. They will enter a new world. This is called correction.

My Comment: The only solution is to explain immediately the true cause of the crisis—the birth of a new world—and what our correct behavior in it is: compliance with the requirements of nature in unity and mutual guarantee.

Question: What will an egoist, who finds himself in a society of mutual guarantee, envy?

Answer: He will envy that the people around him have something that he lacks. They enjoy their lives, their relationships, while he does not have that kind of relationships and doesn’t enjoy life.

Ultimately, I am speaking about the desire and pleasure. If a miracle happens and your attitude towards your neighbor changes, you will perceive an eternal world. You will feel that you should live and at the same time receive a billion times more than you receive in this world. This entire world feeds from a spark that created it as it broke through from the upper world. All the pleasures here are merely a spark of the upper Light, which you reveal in the spiritual world.

It’s impossible to convey it; however, a person gradually realizes that there is a huge benefit in this: I am liberated and come out of myself, I am never sick, I rise above life and death, I am completely submerged in infinity, infinite fulfillment, and perfection. And all I need to do to achieve this is to switch internally from the “for me” mode to the “for others” mode.

In reality, a person suffers a lot in his life without even realizing it. We have already become accustomed to a constant rush, pressure, different responsibilities, and fears. Is it really possible to live without concerns, limitations, and worries? We don’t know what it is to be free, when all the goodness is before you and nothing limits you.

If we could only make people see for themselves what they can acquire in comparison to their current lives on, they would see that they are in the worst state, in the worst of the worlds. And they are free to exit: all they need to do is switch their attention from “for me” to “for us.” In the end, everything depends on our dissemination, the “agitation,” as Baal HaSulam refers to it.

Question: How can the mutual guarantee be used as a coefficient in a formula? Is it really possible to measure human relations: 50% or 75% of mutual guarantee?

Answer: Of course relationships can be measured: There are 125 degrees of mutual guarantee (the same 125 spiritual degrees of which you have probably already heard). Everything can be measured precisely because according to the way that a person relates to others, every soul consists of Rosh–Toch–Sof (head, inner part of the body, and limbs), and here are parts that he restricts and parts that he uses partially, half, or quarter way.

There is no problem with measuring the mutual guarantee in spirituality—it corresponds to your degree. And are you are asking how we should evaluate the mutual guarantee in the economics of our world? Mutual guarantee does not and cannot exist in our world. The first degree of mutual guarantee is a spiritual degree.

Right now we are in a transitional period called “the time of preparation,” preparing for the entrance into the spiritual world. When I say that the mutual guarantee needs to be entered as a coefficient into the economic formula, I mean that the entire problem with the breaking and the crisis we are now experiencing is the fact that we lack one parameter from a higher degree.And when we acquire it, we reach peace, fulfillment, and balance for a certain time. And after  each time, we will feel like we have lost this balance—the lack of mutual guarantee and economic instability.

This will keep happening on every new degree, until we reach a state when every person suffices with the necessities needed for living, which he himself will determine. At the same time, every person will give the maximum to the extent of his abilities, and he will also determine this maximum himself. This is how corrected everything will be.

But if a person has not yet reached this state, the desires that he is not yet able to work with are being guarded. And this protection is not imposed by his forces since he is not yet capable of it; it is done through the environment, which pressures him. Baal HaSulam explains that the society of the future will be evaluating how much every person needs as well as encourage people by giving them medals, influencing people with encouragement or judgment.

Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: Do not be surprised if I mix together the well-being of a particular collective with the well-being of the whole world, because indeed, we have already come to such a degree that the whole world is considered one collective and one society. Meaning, because each person in the world draws his life’s marrow and his livelihood from all the people in the world, he is coerced to serve and care for the well-being of the whole world.

We have proven above that the total subordination of the individual to the collective is like a small wheel in a machine. He draws his life and his happiness from that collective, and therefore the well-being of the collective and his own well-being are one and the same, and vice-versa. Therefore, to the extent that a person is enslaved to himself, he necessarily becomes enslaved to the collective.

Does this mean we have been enslaved? Will it be necessary to subjugate every person and country to the demands of a specific regulation? Then where is freedom of the individual? Where are equality and justice, if they will coerce others to do something?

The issue here is that a new, all-enveloping system is gradually “dressing” upon our world and we are compelled to submit to it. There is no other way to go. We have to accept this global, integral system that is being revealed everywhere today. We have to help each other do this and even obligate one another because we depend on each other. No one can fence himself off from others and communicate with them “at a distance.” The world has become very small. We are drawing our resources from the same sources, we are all “knitted together.”

The system of global interconnection is imposing mandatory circumstances on us. However, it is not imposing arbitrary rule, but the principle of mutual guarantee. We have to take care of one another and at the same time we have the right to obligate one another to observe this principle. No one can use the advantage of force to impose his own will and laws on another. This is not talking about someone’s personal whims, but the will of the general, integral system that is expressing itself and imputing common obligations to all of us.

Because we are all totally interconnected, we have to get organized according to the universal system that nature is demonstrating to us. If someone does not accept it and does not leave us with any other alternative, we have to take care to ensure that he will nevertheless desire to adapt to the new conditions, if not by his own desire, then against his will.

How? Very simply. We will sever all connections with him, will isolate him, leaving him one-on-one with the global system. Today we don’t need wars or atom bombs. It’s enough to deprive a country of the vital arteries, to close off the channels through which it exports and imports goods and raw materials. We won’t buy its production and won’t trade with it, and the country will fall apart, including its industry, energy, and other systems.

Today not one nation can manage without others or shift to autonomous mode. That is how interconnected everything is. Therefore, we have to explain to societies, countries, and governments what they don’t understand yet: The only way we will survive is by observing the law of mutual guarantee, and in no other way.

Thus, the well-being of the whole world depends on the well-being of every society and every country, and vice versa. All of this leads to far-reaching consequences, which we cannot even imagine. Every person will feel that he depends on everyone in every way. Even when I prepare a cup of hot tea, the whole world participates in it together with me.

This situation is dictating a completely new worldview, a new sensation of the world to us. From here on I am entirely and fully under the power of others, directly dependent on them. And if I am aware of this, like an animal that cannot put food and drink into its own feeder, then the understanding of the system of mutual guarantee allows me to take my place in it like an obedient boy.

That is why it is so important to start educating people today. We all have to open our eyes to where we are.

The path there is not easy. We see this by Europe’s example, which is fighting the financial crisis. It’s leaders are having a very hard time understanding the meaning of what is happening. They blame one another, but in reality no one is guilty. It’s just that until now everyone behaved egoistically, but now we are being deprived of that possibility.

The same thing goes for our group. For the world the issue at stake is material life, whereas for us – it is spiritual life. We have to understand that spiritual life depends on the revelation of the system of mutual guarantee. We will begin to live spiritually only in it and thanks to it when we establish interconnection, harmony, fair distribution, and single-hearted relationships among all of us.

Then, from our degree of spiritual interaction, we will be able to pour this knowledge, this educational method into the world, onto the degree of material interaction, giving the world all of the abundance that will pass through us. With the help of upbringing, we will give people the vessels, while the Lights coming from us will fill them with the sensation of life.

In principle, the world already understands that it really has become “round,” but on the other hand, it still does not feel the entire extent of its interconnections. In the near future we will see with our own eyes that every person opposing mutual guarantee will be subject to very powerful blows. All of the “smart-alecs” who don’t want to create good relationships with others, who don’t aspire in the direction of order, interconnection, and mutuality – be it separate people or entire nations – will experience the negative consequences of their own gambles boomeranging back at them.

Question: People agree with the idea of mutual guarantee, but they don’t know what to do with it. People accept our explanations in good will, but what next?

Answer: This is enough. First you give a person an explanation of the situation with the integral interconnection, informing him of the fact that in our global world it is inadmissible to give in to protectionism and isolationism. “It’s none of my business” is no longer a viable excuse. We are all interconnected like cogwheels whether we want it or not and there is no clutch pedal that could separate us from one another. There is no other way to go: We simply have to take one another into consideration, to understand the essence of mutual unification and the single human system. Only by mastering its laws will we be able to decide what we should do together from here on.

In the past we were separate and I was able to take anything I wanted from you for my own needs. But now, when we are welded together, I do not take away yet another “sack” from you, but simply move it around from one place to another in the common warehouse. And eventually, this will harm me.

We still don’t realize the meaning of “a single system.” If you don’t take all of its parts into consideration, then you cannot act. The world today is demonstrating the general interconnection to us, and this is just the first, smallest, most proximate spiritual level. Without ascending to it, we won’t be able to fix anything in our lives. From one day to the next, the external pressure will grow, the screws will tighten more, and the conditions of this first level will advance clearer, more precise demands to us.

Eventually we will have to get to know the single system, understand it, include it inside ourselves, and adjust ourselves on the inside to its laws. Then we will suddenly see abundance everywhere. As soon as we attain unity, the abundance will come to light. It will become apparent that peace and order reign everywhere, and we have reached peace on the first spiritual degree.

After that the next degree becomes revealed, and we are again faced by disorder, injustice, chaos…. That is how we continually discover our non-conformity to the following level of ascent.
