Question: In the past Kabbalah was passed on through the chain of Kabbalists, from one to the next, between selected individuals, special souls. Today, however, the conditions have changed and Kabbalah must spread around the world. How do we accomplish this?

Answer: As we become more distant from the first “man,” Adam HaRishon, who was the first to unveil the spiritual world 5771 years ago, it becomes necessary to simplify this wisdom even more and reduce it to the level of understanding for the masses. We are witnessing the so-called “descent of the generations,” which become much more “material,” meaning that their egoistic desire is getting bigger. We see how egoism grows from generation to generation.

Because of this, today’s souls have greater potential than the previous souls, which allows them to receive, understand, and attain more. On the other hand, it has been more difficult to reach them, that is, have them finally accept and understand it.

In truth, we contain such enormous ego that it clothes us in a bullet-proof armor of egoism of horrific coarseness (Aviut). Hence, we are constantly trying to simplify Kabbalah for the masses even more. In the degree of the ego’s growth, we should lower Kabbalah as well so that we can pass it on to a person at his level. Either way, it remains a mystery to him. By simplifying Kabbalah, we don’t deprive him of his free will; he will still have to exert effort.

After all, if one person is burdened with desire for pleasure valued at “100 pounds” while another at “500 pounds,” then each of them needs to receive this wisdom at the same caliber. He will have to exert an effort in the matching degree in order to break through such a powerful concealment. We won’t steal his free will.

It is our duty to bring Kabbalah closer to a person, or he will keep walking away from it even more. Our ego removes us farther away from the notion of what spirituality and bestowal are. In the past, it was very easy for people to comprehend since it was obvious to them that this was the truth based upon the design of their soul. Today, however, it is completely alien to man with his egoism; he is unable to process even a drop of bestowal even intellectually, not to mention emotionally.

Therefore, our work lies in the field of adapting Kabbalah to serve the people. Unveiling the wisdom of Kabbalah means simplifying it to such degree and forms that would make it enter a person freely and easily, and become as close to his heart as possible. After all, our ego today has grown out of proportion, so much so that people have become totally deaf to perceiving spirituality.

It doesn’t matter that in the past, only a chosen few could study, avoiding all others, while today, there are millions. Increased egoism equalizes all conditions. Today, one can buy Kabbalah books in any store, learn about it from newspapers and television, but people still fail to hear.

Question: If the spiritual system operates by the principle of “the lower one awakens the upper one,” does our transformation depend on the desires of the new generation, our children?

Answer: We depend on everybody and must pass our knowledge of the wisdom of Kabbalah (or at least some of it, as much as we ourselves understand) to everyone. Our current state obligates the entire world to awaken the upper Partzuf, the system of the upper governance.

We are witnessing how the world is haunted by global disasters, and everybody feels helpless not knowing what the next day will bring. All of this is due to the fact that we must begin studying what the upper system wants us to do and how we can motivate it correctly instead of just screaming about it and trying to get even with one another, or demanding the impossible from nature.

We are approaching a state when the upper governance will demand from all of humanity a conscious response, when all of us together will appeal to this force of nature, the Upper Force, in full understanding what action is required of us and what plea must come from us.

Obviously, we are unable to achieve anything on our own. But “He who makes peace in the Upper World will make peace upon us.” The Upper One can bring us to perfection and peace here, between us. We have to at least ask for it first. And only afterwards, from this collective “Lo Lishma” (not for Her name) of all humanity, we will come to “Lishma (for Her Name).”

Question: How important is it to participate in the upcoming European Kabbalah convention in Berlin?

Answer: I really hope that everyone who studies with us understands how vital it is for us and all humanity, especially in our present state, that Europe becomes unified in spiritual terms. We are standing at the threshold of very trying events in Europe. I think that everyone is beginning to feel it.

All these sweet hopes to find solutions through the commonwealth market are starting to melt away. Behind it all, we see the manifestations of great hatred and mutual separation and growing protectionism.

Therefore, now is the time to accelerate the circulation of the wisdom of Kabbalah in Europe with our best effort. All our friends who live there must view their own future and the future of the entire humanity in this light.

Otherwise, Europe will start a new fire yet again. It is there that the first two world wars began. It could be the same with the third one. I think that Germany, more than any other country, feels how real and close this threat may be.

Yet, as the wisdom of Kabbalah informs us, everything depends on the unity between people and on achieving balance with nature. All of this can be actualized with the help of the Upper Force if a person desires it so and strives to draw this force. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah helps to accomplish.

The key lies in the circulation of Kabbalah in all possible forms so that it may reach every person in Europe. We will keep adapting the articles and publishing them on the Internet in all European languages in the most intensive form. There cannot be any more delays since the next year or two will be the turning point for all of humanity.

The world is yet to face great trials. In order to go through them in the right way so that they don’t throw us into an abyss, but rather bounce us upward toward the goal, we need to be armed with the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is all up to you!

Let’s hope that all our students from all over Europe will take part in the convention, even from the most remote places. We are expecting to see everybody. I have a hope that our voice will finally be heard.

Question: If a person doesn’t have an opportunity to check whether his experience of the Creator and love of others is true or not, how can he scrutinize this?

Answer: People who wish to attain authentic scrutiny with the assistance of the Light that Reforms must actualize this method on themselves. But since all souls are mutually connected, everything that has been clarified by them is automatically transferred onto all others. And those individuals who are still satisfied with their fantasies will eventually begin to realize that all of them are groundless.

Everyone has their own fantasies and faith: According to some research, there are about 3800 various religions and spiritual practices. (I have no way to check but am willing to take it on faith :-D.) Only a great, mature egoistic desire that becomes increasingly expressed in humanity does not wish to take things on faith.

Moreover, since we are tightening up our circle and connecting closer together and since opinions travel from one to the other, with a more exalted idea ruling over the lower one, we thereby “circulate” the knowledge of Kabbalah and inject doubt in the hearts of all the others.

However, don’t ever try to convince anyone of anything in the external form. If a book on Kabbalah happened to fall into a person’s hands and they decided to read it, it’s great. We should also take into consideration that everyone reads it from their own perspective and finds resonance with their own opinion.

Therefore, we have to work on ourselves, and as a result, the increasing egoistic desire unfolding in the integral system of souls will be receiving “electrical” impulses. The Light we draw will be reaching all others, and they will start thinking in a new way: They will want to have knowledge in addition to faith.

There is no need to erase religious faith completely. If we add knowledge to it, it will turn into cultural traditions, and that additional knowledge will be the knowledge of the Creator, His revelation to the created beings. In the end, philosophy will perish, religions will become national cultures and customs, whereas the wisdom of Kabbalah will reveal the upper, eternal reality to man.

Question: Since the beginning of the crisis, many folks accept what Kabbalah explains; they agree that we need unity and that egoism is to blame. But they also inquire: “Then what do we need to do exactly?” We can’t make everybody sit and study The Zohar, can we?

Answer: Clearly, we can’t make everyone sit and study Kabbalah if they don’t have aspiration for it. But they have to learn the basics that Baal HaSulam explains in his writings, albeit in a light, accessible form: about society, integral connection, the need to unite, and a different attitude to each other. That would be enough to draw upon ourselves the developing force.

It is similar to how we design a book for children, using language they can understand and colorful pictures. But it does educate and develop them. As to an adult, we have to give him a different book, appropriate to his level of development. But it is still the same content, if only simplified, adapted to each group: for men, women, and children. If Baal HaSulam’s articles are adapted and abridged, they can reach the mind and heart of any person.

If, however, people immediately ask what to do physically, then the answer is: “Don’t do anything!” If we start acting only physically, we will ruin the method. Before anything else, change your thought pattern, and it will fix everything else! “Everything gets clarified in the thought,” and it is impossible to start something with actions.

The only actions we take are aimed at the circulation of Kabbalah and assisting our internal unity. No other action is necessary. Any meal or convention is merely an opportunity to connect. Everything is directed within. If we could get by without them, no action would be required at all. All action takes place within, in the person’s heart. We need to transform the heart.

Baal HaSulam’s articles have to simply become a “national treasure,” and everybody has to understand, discuss, and familiarize themselves with them. And while all of humanity will be going through trying events that lie ahead of us, you will see how one will link with the other.

Man will find himself in the middle. On one hand, the Creator will be pressuring him externally and internally by way of the intensifying crisis. On the other, humanity will have the wisdom of Kabbalah in a simple form, corresponding to its current state, and man will start changing. He will find himself between these two influences: suffering on one side and the method of Kabbalah, the Light, on the other.

What constitutes the work of our organization? On one hand, we do inner work aimed at self-transformation performed by everyone in his heart (desire). This work is hidden from outsiders and the world, and although we talk about it a lot, it is done in the heart, invisible in matter or physical acts. The rest of our work refers to producing materials and media to circulate the wisdom of Kabbalah since we are an educational organization that mentors children and adults.

To accomplish this, we take materials from our daily lessons where we study articles written by Baal HaSulam and Rabash. What we produce becomes the basis of what is going to be used in the future as well. In fact, besides it, there is nothing else in the world that would relate to authentic spiritual work: the Creator’s revelation.

No one in our generation is working on creating a practical method of the transformation of man and the world except us. If we don’t structure this method correctly, according to its inner content and the form of communication, then we will not complete the task placed on us, our responsibility before humanity. We shouldn’t be scared away by these exalted words. Rather, this is how we must feel about our designation.

However, we can’t wait until after the lesson to draw messages from the daily lessons and send them to the world. It will not happen unless we thoroughly work on each lesson, writing notes down, analyzing them, and classifying them by topics, the degrees of exaltedness and perception. The evaluation criteria may vary, but the key is to organize the material and release it into the world.

At any rate, nothing will replace a book. It may have a different form, but it will still have text. We won’t escape that. If a person wishes to immerse himself in the content having heard the lecture on the television (or internet), then he must see letters before his eyes. After all, letters are spiritual forms to be read by the mind and soul.

Therefore, we should take working on creating texts very seriously and view it as top priority. A lesson must be written down, followed up by highlighting the key definitions, their classifications, and by using various types of text analyses. It is essential to have a well-written text to which people can refer. The more they can work with it, the more intensive their advancement will be.

We should be grateful that we have this kind of work, that we are concerned with things above this world and are not absorbed by the issues of animate existence. We disseminate knowledge about the Creator in the world, and it is good if we experience difficulties from time to time and feel uneasy and confused. Evidently, He wants us to be concerned.

Question: If people agree that all problems are rooted in our egoism, why then can’t we simply agree to share everything with each other and decide that everything is collective?

Answer: If we declare everything ours and divide it between ourselves, it will not resolve anything. We won’t make the world better, but rather would go back to the “fair” socialistic distribution of goods. This cannot correct the world. This is because the entire world exists solely for us to reveal the Creator.

Without taking this into account, you cut yourself off the source that can change a person. Unless you study the wisdom of Kabbalah in even the smallest degree, you won’t have any power to change human nature. As a result, you will end up in an even greater crisis, if not today, then tomorrow.

We must inject everyone with a dose of authentic wisdom of Kabbalah so that he has the force that affects and transforms him. Otherwise, we will simply start playing a game of building some new society.

However, does the world exist solely for us to build a comfortable material life? We must explain to everybody that this isn’t the purpose for which the world was created. The program of creation is to bring each person, all of human society, to another level of existence: absolute, mutual bestowal in order to unveil the force of total bestowal among us. This force is regarded as the Creator, the Upper Nature.

However, in order to change our nature to the degree that we must achieve, we have to receive an infusion from that level so that the Light that Reforms will affect us. Otherwise, how can we jump onto this degree?

At present, I am standing on the lower level, between the first and the second one, and I see how the higher degree is growing before me like a wall. However, it isn’t a wall; it is merely an ascent to the next degree. It’s just that this step is so exalted that it looks like a wall to me.

How do I leap over it? Kabbalah tells me: “You can do it, just draw the force of the Light to you.” However, we can’t do it alone, not you nor he nor I. It’s only if we unify all together. One person will study more and another less. One part will be performing actions and the other intentions. Everyone will be doing just what suits him or her best.

Not all people are the same: One person doesn’t want to think so much and prefers to act; another solves everything solely in thought. However, when all of them unite as one, everything works out for the best. Both are necessary.

However, we have to explain all of this to a person. He needs to understand life and the world he lives in. How deeply it sinks in is up to him. It makes no difference that one person processes things mostly in the mind and another in his feelings. But everyone will have a connection with the Light.

Therefore, Baal HaSulam writes that everybody has to go back to school. The question is only who should be studying and for how long. After all, everybody studies somehow in order to survive, doesn’t he?

Today, you won’t find a farmer who has not studied somewhere. If you were told that tomorrow there will be a horrible storm and you should learn how to escape it, everyone would agree to study, wouldn’t they? Everyone is forced to learn from natural disasters that are taking place everywhere right now. We offer humanity a way to learn how to achieve happiness, which everybody will be happy to learn.

Question: People are still asking the same question: What must we do in practice?

Answer: If we are talking about a simple, mechanical action, then the less you do, the better. Less damage will be done. If you are able to work only by using your hands, then don’t do anything at all, as it is written: “It is better to sit and do nothing.”

First of all, we need to employ thought to discern. This is true specifically for those who are seriously engaged in studying Kabbalah, who will teach it to the rest of the world as the educational society that produces all types of media and disseminating information about Kabbalah and its method. In this case, there should be much more discernment and very little action.

However, the same goes for all of humanity. Everyone has to influence himself, his desire. Therefore, before anything else, I need to think about what inner and outer actions can change my desire so that I will want to raise MAN (a plea for correction). In essence, this is what finalizes my actions. I need only to ask, to feel the need to change, and to come to bestowal like the Creator, to step out of myself in order to delight Him.

So, how do I accomplish that? If I have to perform some external actions for this, I will, but in essence, the inner actions are what are required. No matter how simple the person, anyone can affect himself to start desiring this kind of transformation by way of various media such as film, music, and theater. After all, each person lives inside his desires, and we need to think about how to evoke in ourselves a desire to transform to bestowal.

Question: What solution can you offer a person who is a neutral observer? Wouldn’t it all seem to him as just a philosophy?

Answer: Kabbalah speaks of a force that exists in nature, and we can invite its positive influence upon us if we wish to become like it. We can’t change that force, but we need to put our house in order. It’s the same as with sunlight; I can stand in the shade, or I can climb onto the roof and bathe in the sun rays. The sun doesn’t change; it’s me who changes, wishing to get more of its light.

There’s the exact same force in nature, and the wisdom of Kabbalah can teach us to receive it. Kabbalah is a science. Be smart, learn to use the power of the Light, and it will develop you in a good and correct way.

We’re not talking about artificial things or fantasies, only about how we need to organize ourselves, the relationships between us, a shared “network” to “catch” the force existing in nature and to profit by it. Instead of turning your back or side to the “sunlight,” turn your face to it. In other words, reach equivalence of form with it.

That’s what the wisdom of Kabbalah is saying. It advises a person: You are forced to evolve whether you want to or not. However, if you want to develop in a good, enjoyable way, know the force that affects and develops you. If you turn your back to it, it develops you through suffering because you feel its effects as pushes from behind. If you stand “sideways” to it, it varies, sometimes better and sometimes worse. However, if you turn your face to it, you will develop in a kind and happy way.

That’s all we do. We just want to discover the positive influence of that force upon us. It influences and develops us in any case, even now. It’s an indisputable fact that our states change. Can we make life stand still? No, every moment we face a new situation, and that process doesn’t depend on us.

However, there’s a science that says: “Look at the existing trend. You don’t have to ‘reinvent the wheel.’ You see that we are all connected with each other, but our connection is not good. We are ruining nature more and more. So, let’s connect in the right way and invert the trend.”

If all of our problems are caused by the flawed connection between us, let’s think about how to connect properly. Kabbalah simply lays out clearly the natural law of similarity of attributes. “Creator” means Nature.

A person has to understand that his attitude to the group is a mirror in which he sees himself, and this mirror doesn’t lie. While working on Kabbalah circulation, we may even yell at each other from time to time.
