After establishing himself in the spiritual world, a person transfers small portions of the King’s treasury from the old to a new state until he transfers it all. And although he does not see the fruit of his work, he tries to believe that he is working correctly.

The old home state is within me and within each of us. I took great care of it and accumulated a lot of property there—this is all my property, all of me; it is what gives me a feeling of life, of confidence. It all belongs to me and no one is allowed to touch it!

And suddenly, I decide that the most important thing for me is precisely what is outside my body, that is, other people, and I want to convey it to them. And then I begin to pull desires together with the fillings out of myself and pass them on to all the rest. I expect this to be my second state.

In carrying out this work, I begin to understand that in fact only the attitude I created in myself now with the help of the upper power and acting for the sake of what is outside of me is the only correct form of behavior.

It gives me freedom, allows me not to be attached to my desire to enjoy, not to live inside it, but to move into the desire for bestowal, to the stage of Bina. In this way we move from this world to the upper world.¹

The goal of creation is the connection of all the creatures, the whole broken soul of Adam HaRishon. We need to reveal the scale of this breaking, its appearance, depth, and character. After all, it was not a lifeless stone that was broken, but a system built similar to the Light, HaVaYaH. The system was broken due to the fact that a desire was revealed inside of it that was against HaVaYaH, against the desire of the Creator, which was filling it.

The breaking occurred between two opposing forces—the only ones that exist in nature. Therefore, in order to make an attempt to connect, an attack on connection is required. After all, we are not ready to take even one step in its direction; something in the heart and in the mind prevents us from doing it. And we do not understand what we lack in order to achieve this.

There are such systems, forces, force fields that repel us, not allowing us to get closer to connection. The guards push us down when we try to climb the mountain of the royal palace. And we feel completely powerless. The desire has been awakened, but there is absolutely no power for its realization; there is lack of understanding and lack of perseverance. Each time there is a need to turn to the Creator, as it is written: “And the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage.” Until we oblige the Creator to finish this work for us and carry out the action of our connection.

The work is against the negative forces that the Creator wanted to reveal to us. As the advantage of the Light is revealed from the darkness, and in contrast to the negative force, we can uncover positive forces that already directly represent the power of the Creator: the power of unity, bestowal, and love. Then we create our first HaVaYaH from our side. HaVaYaH descends from above downward, and our HaVaYaH, on the contrary, rises from the bottom upward, and in this way, we complete each other. Having built the vessel for the first HaVaYa, we reveal the name of the Creator in all the worlds.

This is not just an attack on connection, but the construction of entire systems, the acquisition of additional desires, training along the way, finding out what hinders and what helps us. We must build a whole state, a new world. In fact, this is the only and the most important work that exists in all reality, and we are now trying to try to fulfill it in the framework of the last generation for the first time in history.¹

There are only two systems, two forms, and neither exists without the other. “The benefit of the Light comes only out of the darkness,” but the benefit of the darkness is revealed by the Light. The good and evil always fight for a man until they complete each other. The duty of man is to reconcile them. Therefore, each of them is constantly growing relative to the other. The good cannot grow without increasing the evil, and the evil cannot grow without increasing the good, similar to electric current that flows only if there is a potential difference in the system: minus and plus. Only by working together on the common resistance between them can these forces manifest themselves.

Therefore, in nature there is no one single force. It is possible that the opposite force is hidden and not visible to us. But it is impossible to act with the single power of the good without the accompaniment of evil. And the power of the evil, too, will not be revealed alone. Wherever evil is revealed, the power of good always lies somewhere inside.

Our work is to bring these forces to revelation one relative to the other, to find out their opposition and the conditions under which they can connect and match each other. And then we can use both of these forces for one purpose.

The Creator does not send us any good force, or evil. But we, the creatures, can reveal Him only by using these two forces. We see the light only against the background of darkness, we feel the power of bestowal and love only in contrast to the power of reception and hatred. Therefore, we need to treat these two basics in the same way. In the end, we need to rise above the power of the evil and the power of the good, the force of receiving and the force of bestowal, the power of darkness and the power of Light, in order reveal the Creator above them and to give Him pleasure.

Therefore, it is impossible to prefer one force to the other in anything. Only when we are above both of them and do not relate ourselves to either of them is the right state.²

Why should the connection be attacked? After all, we do not fight against it, but on the contrary, we want to elevate it to a higher degree, and that is why we attack. We see that our connection was insufficient, or more precisely, it was unsuccessful, or even more precisely, it was not just bad, but failed completely. We need to overcome all of yesterday’s failures, rejoicing that the Creator gave us such preparation and perceiving our state today as ideal for the next ascent.

Each of us came with his own problems, not ready to connect. Now we need to adjust ourselves as if there were nothing, or to take all this load of disturbances, all these desires that are not directed at connection and the burdening of the heart from yesterday’s unsuccessful attempts, and include them into the new attack on the connection. Connection is the goal, attack is the means, and we are its executors.

Yesterday’s problems serve us today as a weapon for attack. And from all this we need to organize an appeal to the Creator, because weapons and fortitude are good, but in the end, everything is done by the higher power, after we despair from our work.¹

Everything that happens during the day, all the disturbances, must serve as an additional help, preparation for the attack on the connection. We need to process all these conditions that are given to us from above to support our advancement toward the connection. That is, all the disturbances are undoubtedly beneficial; we just need to utilize them correctly in order not to walk in circles but move to the goal by the shortest path.²

We need to feel that it is necessary to detach from our nature that resists our connection.³

There is no doubt that the burdening of the heart comes only from the Creator, besides Him there are no other forces. Therefore, we do not ask the Creator to release us from some external enemy, from the evil force that spoils everything. All changes are done only the Creator so that a person will turn to Him.⁴

The importance of the goal and the desire to reach our connection and adhesion with the Creator can be increased so much that it will reach the limit, bring us to tears. It cannot be any greater; this is the very final stage when a person did everything in his power, scrutinized everything he could by descending to the very depth of creation and of his nature. He realized that only the connection of all the parts of nature allows the entire system to come to life and advance. However, he sees that he cannot lead to this connection and be in it.

The goal is absolutely clear, but a person has no chance to achieve it, and he bursts into tears. These are tears of weakness because he discovers that some important part is missing in his nature from the very beginning of creation and that it is impossible to reach connection without it.

Only then the Creator reveals Himself and gives a person the gift called Lishma, intention for the sake of bestowal. A person rises to the new level of understanding, feeling, connection, and action, and can compensate his previous deficiency.⁵

When can a person determine that his heart is broken and be happy about it instead of grieving?⁶

Our entire life, everything that surrounds us, and ourselves, all belong to a certain place, which with our rational minds, we call “this world.” But the upper system, the Creator, exists above our level and influences us so that we, with our own strength, with the help of our requests and prayers, understand our state and desire to rise above it.

The upper system spread from above downward, from the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) to our world in order to form our world. But we are obligated to activate it, to awaken it, by acknowledging it and putting it into action. We need to understand how particular our work is. With our desire we ignite the Light in the upper system, turn it on, force it to act upon us, and by doing so, we build it. Regarding this, it is written: “You created Me.”

This work of faith above reason, going in the upper system, we need to awaken and revive through our own desires. It is the only work that is given to us in this life. All the actions that we undertake on our level in this world are aimed toward understanding where we get our life force, our existence, our awakening, for what and to what we need to respond. In other words, we build the next level, awaken it through faith above reason or bestowal above reception.¹

Faith is the force of bestowal, which is given from above. Faith = Bestowal. All that is needed for this is the demand that the greatness of the Creator be more important than material knowledge or reason. This will attract the reforming Light to us, which will raise us to the level of faith where we are ready to be above our reason, above all the disturbances and problems. And if we hold onto the power of faith, then with the strength of this faith, we merit the revelation of the Creator.²

The Creator’s reason is bestowal, faith; a person’s reason is the will to receive. To acquire the reason of the Creator means to receive the desire to bestow.³

If I receive some type of disturbance in my present-day reality, within my reason, then I understand that it comes from the Creator who is awakening me through this, helping me to raise to His level. That is why I ask for the greatness of the Creator, in order to rise to the level of faith, to bestowal above the revealed problem.

The question lies in why do I rise: simply to feel better? Then it is a Klipa, because I want to use the force of the Creator for my personal well-being. It turns out that the Creator is not important to me, faith is not important to me, but only that I feel good in my desires. It is the same with religions and other beliefs.

But maybe I am ready to remain with the unpleasant sensation in my desire to receive and above it build a desire to bestow, and that is why I ask to be raised to the level of faith. It turns out that I have two levels and I try to save them both, rejecting neither. The difference between them can then grow to such an extent that the Creator is revealed in it: between Bina and Malchut.

In each moment of life, we must try to remember that everything comes only from the Creator and with a specific purpose, so that I will use the revelation of evil and attribute it to the Creator as a reason to achieve bestowal, faith. That is how I work with faith above reason.⁴

We can only unite by attack. After all, we possess a force that resists unification in every possible way. But this power does not prevent us from doing anything in this world. People’s egoism in this world is not an impediment; it only contributes to development.

Therefore, egoism is not a bad thing. On the contrary, if a child would not want anything, would not seek to conquer the whole world, he would be underdeveloped, and it would be alarming.

The more one is egoistic in this world, the greater is his ability to succeed. It is only necessary to direct his egoism in the right direction so that it will not be destructive and will not harm society. But if, thanks to egoism, he does a great job and achieves a lot, it is only for his and the world’s benefit.

To be more precise, it is not even egoism, but the force of development inherent in the program of evolution, in the whole of nature, including every person. The real egoism, about which it is written, “I have created the evil inclination, I have created the Torah as a spice,” manifests only when we aspire to unification. Then, within the unity, we reveal the power that hinders it.

The desire to unite is our desire to correct the system of the common soul, the first man, Adam, who was shattered. Our duty is to correct it, for the Creator created the separation between us as a place to work so that we will connect all the broken parts.

When we try to unite them, we reveal the force that prevents unification. This power is called “egoism.” The force that opposes it is called “the Torah,” the “reforming Light.” One needs to know how to reveal this evil inclination within oneself. It is a snake, which prevents us from uniting.

One needs to appreciate this force that resists connection and not destroy it. We must collect these forces all together and try to overcome them. We will then find out that we cannot do it ourselves because this is the force created by the Creator, and that is why we need the Torah, which is the Light of correction.

Only those people who have realized the need for unity need the Torah, which is the highest Light that leads us to unity and correction.

Despite the enormous power of the ego’s resistance, the power of the Torah unites our stony hearts together, warms them up, melts them, and turns them into a boiling lava, a single force. And then we come to one spiritual vessel (Kli) from the ten Sefirot, to the Partzuf, to the part of Adam HaRishon who the Creator created and broke into pieces.

This is how we move forward, and everything starts with our desire to unite. You should not look for an evil inclination anywhere else, but only inside the union. In this case it will open. We do not seek evil. We seek goodness, connection and unity, and then we reveal evil.

We always move in the right line, and if the left line opens in it, it means that we need it and it must be parallel to the right line. Then we should work in the middle line to correctly use the left and right lines as a whole.
