Question: In the convention there is a wonderful atmosphere of unity, which envelops us with warmth. If we surrender to this feeling, won’t it put us to sleep? Won’t we lose our ardor?

Answer: We only hasten our development and not more than that. There is nothing else one can do in this world.

Until now I have developed under the pressure of suffering that pushed me from behind and forced me to rise above it. It was an egoistic development: I developed different means to ease the pain. This went on until 1995.

Then we were given a choice, and now I can evoke upon myself the force that brings another development, the force of Light that comes through the group, the studies, and so on. I will still have to feel pressure and suffering, but it will be the suffering of love that will pull me forward.

Unlike other troubles, the sufferings of love are sweet, and everyone likes them. It is like the “suffering” we feel before a meeting with a loved one or before having an opportunity to do something we enjoy. Thus, instead of suffering through the long path, I have to evoke upon myself the yearning for something good ahead of me.

Question: How important is the preparation for the convention for our spiritual advancement?

Answer: The preparation for the next level determines everything! We see this from the state at Mount Sinai when the people were asked: “Are you ready for the final correction?” To connect as one man with one heart means to reach the end of correction, Gmar Tikkun. If you are ready for that, the intensity of your desire has to reach 600,000.

Everyone should say: “I agree to connect with others so that I will correct the evil in me and turn it into good, into the force of connection, until I reach a perfect state.” In the perfect state, the intensity of my desire should grow 600,000 times.

It isn’t about the number of people who will be present there: two, two thousand, or actually 600,000. Even if seven billion people gather in order to connect, the intensity of each person’s desire will be considered to be “600,000.”

We will we receive the Light that Reforms only if we agree to be as one man with one heart. This is why we have to prepare ourselves so that we arrive at the convention with this desire. I have to be ready to participate with others and to draw the Light that will affect me so much that it will connect me with others. When the Light performs this connection, it will change from the Surrounding Light to the Inner Light, which will be revealed within us. Thus, we will reach spiritual revelation.

It will be the revelation of the actions of the Light, which is called the Inner Light, as well as the revelation of the source of the Light, meaning the revelation of the Creator. The revelation of the Light will evoke in me different sensations, and I will understand what the right and left lines, Hassadim (Mercy) and Hochma (Wisdom), my present situation and level, as well as the entire process are.

Every revelation contains the whole process from the beginning to the end, just like a holographic picture. It contains even the world of Infinity to some extent. So starting from the first level I discover everything. From here on I already understand where I am, and I feel it. Even if it is only the beginning, I am already on my way.

Everything depends on preparation.

Question: We can compare the group to a car that functions only when all its parts are in order. If one of them breaks down, the car will stop. On one hand, this is very exciting, but on the other, it is a bit scary. Could it be that if one person loses the right intention during the convention, nothing will work?

Answer: No. There are 125 degrees that separate us from perfection. The ideal system is still far from us, so in the meantime we are required to do the most corrupt spiritual work on the first degree below. Here you needn’t worry about everyone’s utmost perfection. It is enough if we just try a little—and we will get our first toy car. Even if it isn’t a Porsche, but some piece of junk without an engine, still it’s a car.

On the first level, only the initial, “weightless” perfection is required of us, the weakest connection that still has many deficiencies. If in general, we come to the convention with the right desire, it will be enough to attain a 1/125^th degree of perfection. It’s in our power to do it.

Question: Tremendous efforts are required in planning and running the December convention. What is the right attitude toward volunteering at the convention?

Answer: It is hard to express the importance of everyone putting forth maximum effort, professionalism, and desire. It will be a great loss for those who miss this opportunity.

We are talking about a major event at the beginning of a special, fateful year, a truly momentous transformation of all humanity that must move to a new path. It will take place either by great suffering or by the Light that we awaken from within by our exertion and efforts to achieve unity. It is by our desire and efforts that we evoke the Light that will reform us.

It is important to understand that we don’t draw the Light directly; rather, we strive for unity, over and over again, although we may be exhausted: These efforts in particular bring us the Light. Even when we feel rejection, frustration, and reluctance, we still make efforts resisting our own resistance, and then we will evoke a most powerful Light. I hope we will reveal great, burning hatred between us and at the same time, with the same intensity, yearn for love. It will be very good if these two poles manifest in us. Let’s hope this happens at least to some extent.

So, it isn’t the time for personal calculations of one’s efforts now. No efforts are necessary here, but true self-sacrifice. Everyone must take part in the work as much as possible.

Unfortunately, it is very hard to give each one a job. We cannot supply work for all the volunteers, but at home you can prepare and shoot video clips, prepare a variety of materials for dissemination to attract new people, and so on. Look for something of your own if you see that all the jobs are taken here.

Question: What duty should I take in order to utilize it in the best possible way?

Answer: Choose something that is the most suitable for you. Each one should check himself and find a job according to one’s abilities. If you know something about electricity, ask the electricians. If you know how to cook, go to the kitchen.

Question: Perhaps garbage collection would be more beneficial?

Answer: Not necessarily. Everyone should do his best. If you are a specialist, you should volunteer where you can be the most helpful.

Question: You said that at the convention a person should not delve into himself, but should imagine that we are all connected already. But what should I do if I am overcome by critical thoughts? How can I get rid of them?

Answer: The convention is one big friends’ assembly, meaning an unceasing influence of the environment, the most powerful of all the possible ones that have ever taken place.

And if we see from Kabbalists’s articles that the most important thing is the influence of the environment, then we can assess the importance of such a great assembly that we are getting together at physically, while the whole world is joining us virtually, meaning people who are together with us.

We must only prepare for this gathering the right way. We have 30 days left, and that is a lot of time. If each of us prepares correctly during this time, as well as all of us together, then we will attain a very serious influence of the environment on every person. This happens to such an extent that the feeling of realization of evil can develop in a person to such great proportions that he will hate his receiving nature and will desire to come out of it, which is called the exodus from Egypt.

He will desire to attain bestowal, meaning he will raise his Malchut into Bina, will desire to join bestowal to the neighbor. Who are these neighbors? This is the most general level of Bina where we all dwell in bestowal. If a person aspires to this, then he can temporarily or even permanently enter the spiritual reality, bestowal in an initial measure. This will already be his first spiritual experience.

Everything depends on the might of the Light that reforms, which depends entirely on how a person adjusts himself in relation to the environment: How much he values this environment and its ability to influence him. Let him not come with scorn and criticism to all the others, but only with great hope that the Creator will now give him the opportunity to use the environment in order to rise above his nature. Then he will immediately feel spirituality!

Our task is to prepare for this event well as it might be the most important one in our lives, a turning point from our dark state to a state full of Light.

Question: What should we demand from the convention so afterwards we won’t hear you say, “Why didn’t you ask?”

Answer: We must constantly think about how we are already imagining this special state and how we are aspiring to realize it at the convention, completely forgetting about the world for three days.

We have to leave everything behind and close the door behind us in order to find ourselves truly on the next level. This requires the most serious preparation: I study articles, go to lessons, work in dissemination, and no matter what I do, all of it is preparation. I am constantly driven by the anticipation, the expectation that something is about to happen.

We have to arrive to the convention as though we’re arriving to our redemption. I can’t wait for it and I think I will simply explode if it doesn’t happen.

Question: What’s the right way to enter the convention and what should its result be?

Answer: In order for the convention to produce good results, everyone has to be “burning” with anticipation and inspiration. Everyone has to feel the strongest “hunger” for unity, in which the upper force that reigns among us will be revealed. It is written, “I dwell within my nation.” This is the preparation to the convention.

As a result of it, we should really reveal the force of our unity, reveal the upper Light in practice, the energy of the interconnection between us—not in emotions, but in real sensation. This will be the real Light, with a specific level of Aviut, with a specific mechanism of connection between us.

By feeling out these qualities, we begin to reveal something beyond our bodies, to reveal in new vessels, in a new perception. Then we will detach from the body and will enter a reality existing outside of the flesh. That is how we will enter the human dimension.

Let us hope that this will happen! Let’s get to work!

Question: How can we fulfill the first stage of the group’s goal in the upcoming convention?

Answer: First, we have to prepare so that we understand that only thanks to our connection, mutual guarantee (which is also the name of the convention), we awaken the Light. The Light operates on us because it is drawn by our desire. We want it to appear and to change us so we place ourselves under its influence and let it do whatever it wants with us.

After all, we are filled by the Light thanks to the desires we receive from the world, as if they were our own desire to receive, our AHP. So we receive the Light only to enable us to exist and to carry on and develop the method of correction. All the rest will flow onto the world.

Thus, the group will achieve a state of greatness (Gadlut) in spirituality. The group doesn’t have to be big. We don’t need millions for that. It isn’t one percent of humanity, but much less. I don’t know the exact number, but what is important is to awaken the Light. With regard to that, the quality of the group is more important.

So at the convention we have to focus on quality, on the connection between us, and thus we will advance.

Question: What should the music at the convention be like so it would really warm people’s hearts?

Answer: Joyful music is not mindless partying. Rather, it has to awaken a good feeling within me, sympathy for what is happening. At the convention, as well as every day, we must imagine our future state that we aspire to, from which we want to receive an illumination, a glow, an influence. Let the Light that reforms come from there and draw us there.

Looking at something beautiful, I am automatically drawn to it. But in this case I have to imagine the beauty myself, as an exercise before and during the convention. In December we will immerse ourselves in the world of the future for 72 hours. We have a single vessel in which a general bestowing force becomes revealed and we all dwell in mutual bestowal.

What do we discover by that other than a feeling of euphoria? What are our relationships? How do we interact in the family, among friends, at work (with our coworkers, employees, and employers), in the economy of the new generation, in ecology, in society? We are entering a new world and are starting to check its details: culture, upbringing, science, our attitude to all kinds of things…

And that’s where music can help us develop the right approach to life. And it doesn’t matter if it has words or not.

However, music should not draw me to any sad thoughts, to anything reminding me of a descent or despair. And this prohibition is effective in our day-to-day work as well. Sad music, the left line can only be used if I have built a strong right line ahead of time and am in it. As Baal HaSulam writes, only half an hour a day can be spent on critical self-analysis, on the condition that I worked in the right line for 23.5 hours.
