Because the light of Ein Sof was even, the restriction was also even. 

It is known in the wisdom of geometry that there is none so even an image as the image of the circle.

However, this is not the case with the image of the square, with the bulging perpendicular angle, the image of the triangle, and likewise all the other images. For this reason, the restriction of Ein Sof had to be in the form of a circle (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot, Vol. 1, Part 1, Item 5).

Explanation. If there were a difference between top and bottom, right and left, it would be expressed in the form of a rectangle with 4 sides as an expression of the 4 stages. While the triangle indicates a degree with only 3 stages, where the 4^th stage is missing. That is, there are only three sides: top, right, left, but no bottom (the last 4th stage, “Dalet“).

There are no more “images”—all other shapes are already “letters.”
