You Should Start With the Head
Question: Here in Israel, and in fact all over the world, Jews celebrate the Jewish New Year (Rosh HaShanah). Apples and honey are associated with the new year, sweetening life by dipping the apples in honey; does this have some deep spiritual meaning?
Answer: The spiritual meaning lies only in person’s spirit. There are no spiritual roots in the apple and honey, just like with the head of a fish.
Comment: But they say that you should start with the head and not the tail.
My Response: This is because it is the new year, the “head” of the year. That is why it starts this way. But in principle, what if you take not a fish but a head of an ox? That could be even better. The year might turn out to be even more successful.
Question: What is the spiritual meaning of the phrase “start with the head”?
Answer: You need to start with the head. That is, what do you want to live this year for, what should it give you, what should you rise to, what should you demand from yourself? All of this is contained in the head.
Question: And what is the answer to these questions: what to rise to and what to demand from yourself?
Answer: Only to get closer to the Creator. Nothing else is needed. That is the only firm directive for us. And that is why we are called Israel, Yashar El, straight to the Creator.
Question: So in principle, the new year is constant thoughts and movements exclusively toward the Creator?
Answer: It is not just constant thoughts and movements only on the new year. You are laying the foundation for the whole year.
Question: So you are laying the groundwork for the whole year? And if you lay it well and correctly, will the year roll smoothly? Will it go well?
Answer: No! That does not mean anything yet.
Question: Does it not say anything?
Answer: No, it would be nice just to pay off on the new year for the whole year!
Question: So it will not work? Do you need to work constantly?
Answer: Yes, this will not slip through.
Question: Then it turns out that every day could be a new year? Because every day you renew your thoughts about the Creator.
Answer: That is also true. So this date is purely symbolic. There is really nothing in the state of the Earth around the Sun and us on the Earth as such.
Question: What are your wishes to all people in this new year?
Answer: My wishes this new year?
Comment: You see how things are going on in the world this year. What kind of a year we have had.
My Response: And it is still unknown what the new year will be like. We are facing such questions, truly frightening ones.
I think that we simply need to wish humanity to be wiser. To understand what force actually governs us. Why do such negative forces and threats arise in our world? And how we can, even with their help, turn ourselves in the right direction, toward the right goal, and achieve unity, and in that unity discover the eternal, great meaning.
