In the Footsteps of Our Forefather Abraham

524.01Question: If there is agreement in the group to fulfill the mutual guarantee, is this enough to provide the confidence that will influence me and allow me to come out of egoism?

Answer: One must learn from Abraham how to fulfill mutual guarantee. It is not for nothing that he is called Av (father) Le Am (of the people), the father of the people, the group. This is an example for everyone. It does not matter whether the conditions back then were different or not.

He was the first to implement it by drawing more and more people to himself, by increasingly explaining to them the essence of the law of mutual guarantee, what kind of relationships we must be in so that the Creator will be revealed within us, and so that we will feel the spiritual reality, the kind of existence we are truly in, and so on. Each person can do this by following the path of our forefather Abraham. There is nothing new in this.

Of course, if a group already exists and agrees, in one form or another, to implement the mutual guarantee according to the level of its development, or adopts its attainment as the highest standard—a goal they believe they can reach through their own correction and through mutual support among the members—then this is truly an independent advancement. In that case, the group influences each individual, and each individual influences the group.

There is no need for complex calculations here, but only internalizing this law and understanding that without mutual connection, we will not be similar to the light.
