Is There Anyone Else Out There?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If there is no one besides me, then why do I have to come to the Convention, unite with everyone, and love them?

Answer: You have to start perceiving the true reality in your sensations. Therefore, you have to come and see that we all do exist, and you have to perform all actions so we would “cease to exist.”

Question cont.: But you said that there is no one else here.

Answer: But it is me who said it! And you have to reach such an attainment on your own. You have to prove it for yourself that there is nobody here except for Malchut of the World of Infinity.

The Tastiest Creator!

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe question “What do I live for” is the inception of the desire to reveal the Creator. I want to know Who had begotten me, where my root lies, and Who governs me. Who created all this, and why did He create me “wrapped up” within this huge world? What does He want from me at every moment, giving me not a moment’s rest and pushing me toward some unknown?

When these questions come to me, they poison my entire life, and I can no longer live without revealing the Creator. This is how I am structured for I am created by the Light which had imprinted itself in me, in all my desires.

All my desires are like a cast, the Light’s reverse imprint, and until I draw the Light and fill myself with it, I will not rest, to the point where this life will feel worse than death. I will be ready to do anything for even a drop of this fulfillment.

Therefore, my task is to clarify how to reveal the Creator, the Light, and the form in which I can fill myself with it. Indeed, this is no simple task which is why the wisdom of Kabbalah is called “Hochmat HaKabbalah (wisdom of reception).”

It is not like in our world where I need only to open my mouth to slake my thirst. A spiritual desire cannot be quenched directly. Rather, it must be clarified first since the Creator does not give me a ready desire suited for the Light. He wants me to verify what is it that I desire, what is the Light, and to realize that it is the greatest of any possible fulfillments. He wants me to try all the desires and all the fulfillments, to verify myself, and to say, “No, I want only this!”

The Creator is extremely jealous and captious. He wants me to love only Him and nothing else, and He verifies this by revealing in me every possible thing. I am supposed to reply, “No, You are still the greatest of all fulfillments, of all pleasures! You are the tastiest!” It is written, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” because this type of fulfillment is called taste.

Permission To Reveal Kabbalah

Dr. Michael LaitmanWe constantly search how to improve our life, and all our thoughts and desires are aimed at it. The Creator constantly reveals new desires and an inner void to us, thereby sending us in the reverse direction, forcing us to flee from this emptiness.

He reveals something bad to me, and I start running away from it, in the opposite direction, to something good. However, at that point, He reveals yet another void in me, and I reverse my running again. This is how we are governed from Above.

Every instant, we experience a new desire and instinctively try to fulfill it to the best of our ability. In this way, the Creator leads us toward the goal to become like Him. Although a person is totally opposite to the Creator (since the Creator is absolute love and bestowal, and man is the force of hate and reception), yet, gradually, he is enabled to see his antagonistic nature and correct himself.

Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah, the method to know the Creator, the property of bestowal, is given to man to assist him in this life. To accomplish this, the Creator selects people He wishes to draw near to Him, but not all at once. Eventually, however, everybody, every person living on this earth will have to come to Him and will become like Him!

All of us have one purpose, but we are approaching it individually and gradually. There were people who started approaching the Creator thousands of years ago before us, in the recent centuries, and today, and there will be more in the near future.

Today, we are at the last stage of human evolution when all of humanity has to know the Creator and ascend spiritually again in order to return to the World of Infinity. We can be viewed as the first row of the last generation.

Man lives fueled by the matters of the corporeal world that he experiences on the path of his earthly life, until a question arises within, “What do I need this all for? I wish to know what happens ‘before’ and ‘after’ I die, and is there any sense in existing, living this life?” These questions come from the Upper degree, the source of life in this world. Hence, these inquiries elevate a person above his entire evolutionary journey.

A person starts seeking in search of answers, and, if the questions are truly above our corporeal world, he finds the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is because with his spiritual spark, “the point in the heart,” a person is like an electron in an electric field, a particle that carries a negative spiritual charge. He feels this “minus” and, therefore, keeps seeking fulfillment for his desire in the field surrounding him.

He can’t find it in our world, and this is the cause of frustration that permeates the world today. We have lost hope in a “better future” (communism or consumer society), and we have to find what we are living for. Otherwise, the entire world will drown in drug abuse, terror, despair, or antidepressants. A person won’t know what to do with himself since this inner void will drain his desire to live.

However, it will be these people who will discover the wisdom of Kabbalah as the only method to find higher meaning. They won’t find solace in religion, faiths, mysticism, “new age,” or meditation. In truth, all the above remedies are aimed at self-relaxation at the level of our world, although their questions come from the realms of a higher dimension.

Hence, we have received permission to reveal and circulate the wisdom of Kabbalah, and we are witnessing how people from all over the world have started to awaken and gravitate to it.

The First Plague Of Egypt

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What greater evil should we disclose within in order for the Light to illuminate us?

Answer: We must come to see that our innate nature is Pharaoh (ego) who does not allow us to rise above ourselves. We ought to hate it, but we still love it; we keep enjoying living in it. When, similar to our present predicament, we start receiving blows, we become disappointed in our nature and understand that we cannot reach spirituality.

So, for the first time, we got to see our nature as the evil inclination, as our rival who is the opposite to the Creator, spirituality. This is regarded as the first plague of our Pharaoh.

As to the other nine plagues, I don’t think we will need another nine such conventions. We will be able to undergo them in our mutual connection on daily basis during our lessons. We will pass through them quickly because the key at each spiritual stage is its first degree.

Later on, it will all be just a routine until a certain stage is completed. For example, right now, we are to become aware of our own evil, and we have started this process. Next time, it will be the escape from Pharaoh, exodus from Egypt, and this is what is called spiritual birth.

A Warm Wave Of Love

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: A lot of newcomers mentioned that on the second day, they had neither the strength nor the desire to come to the Convention. However, having arrived, they felt that a warm wave of love suddenly engulfed them. What happened to them?

Answer: That was a so-called “sweetening” which occurred even though we have not yet reached a perfect state. The fact is that each line also consists of three lines. Although we have revealed only the left line, it, too, has the left, right, and middle lines within it. That’s what swept through them. In other words, the second day of the Convention saw a revelation of the right side of the left line.

Question: Many people told me that they felt something special on the third day of the Convention. They don’t know what it was, but it completely changed their inner perception of the event.

Answer: True. Although the middle line belongs to the left line and despite the fact that we have not yet attained revelation, this line still brought us a certain illumination from Above. That’s why many people felt so.

However, we shouldn’t overestimate what happened; it was, after all, a very small illumination. Together with our core group, a lot of new people also attended the Convention, so it was a bit difficult. Nevertheless, we reached a very significant change in the way we are progressing. That, by the way, was an actual entry onto “Jacob’s Ladder,” just its left side, however.

After all, we have only come to the recognition of evil, realizing that we are unable to attain spirituality in our own selfish desires, that it goes against our nature, but we do not know how to break it yet. Still, that was already a beginning, and from now on, we will be able to use completely different concepts.

Fear For Bestowal

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Zohar, "Introduction of The Zohar," Chapter "BeLaila de Kala (On the Night of the Bride)”: …through the deficiency of the light, which is the night—which includes all the Dinim and torments, which are opposite to the quality of day, Hesed—there is fear of Him. Were it not for the fear, the measure of day and morning would not appear.

Our first correction is fear. I am afraid of receiving the Light directly into my desire. I am cautious; I tremble and fear that I won’t be able to hold back and will "open the door" to the pleasures that come through in the Light.

Like a guest who refuses a feast, I lock all the locks, fearing the possibility of receiving these pleasures not for the sake of bestowal.

The first phase of correcting my desire is to keep it back from directly receiving the Light. This is called "return from fear."

This is the first quality that I have to acquire, the fear that all of my actions would be only for the sake of bestowal.

Where’s The Pleasure?

Where’s The Pleasure?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Why do the descents make a much bigger impression in our sensations than the ascents?

Answer: It’s because we are egoists. We were created out of the will to enjoy, which experiences pleasure or suffering. There is no middle between them, and therefore even when I am in a neutral state where both pleasure and suffering are absent, I feel bad. I lack pleasure. I always demand a positive; zero is not enough for me.

That is why a person is dissatisfied. He has a home, a job, and plenty of food, but something is still missing. Either the grass is greener on his neighbor’s side, or life is devoid of meaning.

Our egoistic desire is not satisfied with what it has. As a result we suffer from the lack of an addition, and this addition must definitely grow as our egoism grows.

Besides, our source is the Creator, who created us. He is the only, single, and irreplaceable one, and every one of us feels the same way. So where can we find fulfillment for someone who is so unique?

That’s why it turns out that we never find satisfaction, not through pleasure, nor through the right self-realization. That is the nature of egoism. The smallest descent is enough for all of our heroism to vanish into thin air. We would agree to anything just to avoid feeling empty inside!

The desire for pleasure depends entirely on the Light. As long as it receives Light, it is full of energy, even though it doesn’t understand where that energy comes from. But as soon as the Light grows slightly distant, you feel helpless and would agree to anything in order to correct the situation in some way.

Look at the world: there’s terrorism, murder, theft, and lies. It would seem that if you gave every person what he wanted, no one would do anything bad. So who’s to blame? It’s the Creator, who does not reveal Himself and thereby evokes bad things. All that remains is to make the right conclusions from the above.

Reveal The Power Of Love

Everyone Is A Point, Everyone Is Infinity

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhat is the end of correction for which we are striving? It is a special and constant state that the Creator has initially created.

We exist in this state even now; nothing else was created, only the World of Infinity. However, in order for us to perceive and realize that we exist in this state, the Creator has prepared an exit from this state into the sensation of “this world” and the consequent return to it.

The path downward is referred to as the descent of the worlds, which has also translated into the breaking of the Kelim (vessels) and the formation of the 125 spiritual degrees. All of this is the preparation which manifests for us from Above downward, and then we return home.

Initially, each one of us is a point (like a drop of semen) in the World of Infinity. In our world, each one of us is also a point. Simply, this point has become egoistic (an egoistic aspiration to the Creator, to the meaning of life) during the descent from Above downward, and it has become overgrown with egoism (the desires for this world).

We return to Malchut of the World of Infinity through five worlds of ABYA (Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya) and Adam Kadmon. As we ascend, we grow in our desire for the Creator, the property of bestowal, and we acquire independence.

As a result, everyone becomes Infinity (with regard to size and quality). Then, unlike before, everyone’s Infinity becomes filled with the Light of NRNHY (Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, Yechida) instead of the previous Light of Nefesh.

In this world, one has a spiritual Reshimo (spiritual gene, reminiscence), similar to the drop of semen which contains full information about the body and the entire process of its development. The point of Reshimo, too, contains all the information about one’s spiritual path and the way he will see the World of Infinity in his perception.

However, everything is predetermined. As I realize my Reshimo and push it to develop, I acquire the sensation of independence. Now I consciously exist, feel, and make conscious decisions. I acquire my spiritual “I” which develops from the Reshimo just like a grown, independent human being forms out of a drop of semen in our world.

We have one point and, with regard to volume, it needs to develop infinitely. Every person must become like the Creator. At the same time, every person ascends to their World of Infinity, and then all the infinities unite.

To find out what this process depends on, read the post, “You Must Be Ready For Me!”
