Flood Strikes South Europe

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from 1TV.ru): “Spain, Italy, and France are at the mercy of rain and squally winds. Lands, villages, and roads are flooded. Mass evacuation is in progress. Power outages began with the advent of heavy rains; 8000 families are left without heat and light.

“Over two thousand people were evacuated from hazardous areas. They will have to live in emergency evacuation centers until flood subsides. They fear that they will return to ruins. Overflowing rivers submerged vast territories. Mudslides washed away roads and left many villages cut off from the rest of the world. The end of the disaster is not expected: Over 5 feet (1.5 m) of rain fell in less than three hours.

Hurricane winds and torrential rains are continuing to cause misery in Italy. Now, all their power hit Turin. If rains do not stop, flood will reach the city. Schools are closed; the residents are advised not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. The raging elements of nature hit Venice. The disaster claimed 20 lives over the last two weeks in Italy.

“Snow fell in Spain, the capital province of Madrid. A storm warning was issued here and in other 24 regions of the country. The picture is the same: continuing rain, overflowing rivers, squally winds, and fallen trees on the streets.”

My Comment: Undoubtedly, nature is becoming increasingly unbalanced, and this manifests at all levels. The year 2012 will bring even less pleasant surprises. This trend will continue until we realize that we can affect the surrounding world only by changing our relationships. No matter how well we prepare ourselves for disasters, no ministry will save us. Nature punishes us until we, like stubborn children, understand that we cause these blows ourselves, by our behavior.

£250,000 Reward For Dismantling The Euro

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Daily Mail UK): “A top British businessman is offering a £250,000 reward for an individual to come up a plan for how the euro could be safely dismantled.

“The one-off prize is sponsored by Lord Wolfson, chief executive of High Street clothing chain Next and a Conservative party donor, and organised by the Policy Exchange, a think-tank.

“‘The prize will help answer some of the many important – yet unanswered – questions from over a decade ago when the EMU (European Monetary Union) was first set up. While there’s been a lot of speculation about countries leaving the euro, there has been too little detailed research on the many complex questions this would raise.’

“Lord Wolfson said: ‘This prize aims to ensure that high quality economic thought is given to how the euro might be restructured into more stable currencies. Consideration will need to be given to what a post-euro eurozone would look like, how transition could be achieved and how the interests of employment, savers, and debtors would be balanced. Importantly, careful consideration must also be given to managing the potential impact on the international banking system.’

“Lord Wolfson added: ‘The stakes are enormous. The future of the world economy will, in large part, be governed by what happens over the next few years in Europe…. This prize aims to incentivise the world’s brightest economic minds to help fill that policy void: their endeavours may well prevent Europe from descending into a financial chaos that would destroy savings, jobs, and social cohesion.’

“The Wolfson Economics Prize, which is a one-off prize, will be the second biggest cash prize to be awarded to an academic economist after the Nobel Prize.

“Economists have until January 31 to submit proposals.”

My Comment: Certainly no one will be able to create such a plan because for that it is necessary to understand the complexity of our world and its total interdependence in a unified system of global relations.

Science does not have such an approach because science is based on human egoistic qualities and is generated by their egoistic protectionist view of the world. The root of the problem of today’s economic science is an egoistic approach to dealing with our world, while it is turning into the world of complete mutual dependence (guarantee).

Karl Marx saw it and warned us about this future (communism). However, to this day, no one understands the essence of his teaching. Using the language of economics, he described the future of humanity, a society of mutual guarantee, and its unification as being programmed in our relationships by nature.

Europe Has No Strategy For Exiting The Crisis

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion: (Robert Zoellick, the World Bank Chief): ‘“There is a total lack of this [leadership] now, and the longer that continues, the more money it will cost and the fewer options will remain’…

‘“The key question is whether people and governments in Europe want to establish a political and financial union to complement the currency union’…

“Zoellick called on the continent’s leaders to provide Europe with political direction as they continue to engage in dialogue.”

My Comment: The following is clear:

  • Europe still has no strategy for exiting the crisis;
  • The crucial question is: Will Europe manage to create a genuine union?

When we talk with politicians, economists, and sociologists about resolving the crisis through the integration of society, bringing it to reasonable consumption, releasing the majority of people from work, and drawing them to mandatory global integral education and training, they argue that this is too general. They want to hear concrete suggestions for how to overcome the crisis, how countries and people can get closer in practice, what can be changed in social and industrial relations, in the relations between a person and the state, and so on.

But these plans should be developed by experts in these areas. We explain the ideology of an integral society. Ideology does not complete the process of the development of a new direction, but only sets a new direction, and then “technologists” come into work. To solve the challenges of the crisis, it is necessary to organize working groups in which leading economists, business leaders, planners, and so on will work together with our specialists on the integrality of the world.

Because we have not yet begun to change our social, economic, industrial, family, and other relationships, the world continues to slide into deeper crisis. So maybe it’s time to notice us and to respond to the call to work together on creating the know-how of transition—the world’s transition to a unified perfect form.

Rich World “Pessimistic” But Developing World “Upbeat”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from BBC News): “BBC World Service survey in 25 countries has found strikingly different attitudes to the economic outlook between rich and developing countries.

“In the rich world, consumers were pessimistic, while in emerging economies people were more upbeat.

“Japan, France, and Britain emerged as particularly gloomy. The percentage expecting good times in all three countries was in single figures. More than half expected bad times.

“In the developing world, optimists outnumbered pessimists in nearly every country surveyed. In Nigeria more than seventy per cent expected good times.”

My Comment: As we transition to equitable reasonable consumption, people in poor countries, of course, look at the future with optimism and happiness because their standard of living, in general, will rise. However, people in rich countries involuntarily look at the future with pessimism because they will lower their standard of living to a reasonable level.

That is why it needs to be explained to namely the citizens of rich countries that the new integral society will give them optimal fulfillment not through material excesses that drain and plunge people into depression, but rather fulfillment on a new level of existence, outside of oneself, in the connection between us—in the feeling of eternity and perfection.

Seven-Point Plan To Save Eurozone

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion: (George Soros, billionaire investor):“‘My seven-point plan to save the eurozone…’”

My Comment: Sure, experts like him will discuss, criticize, and approve these points. But even if they were completely accepted, this would only hasten the economic decline of Europe because they do not contain a single word about correcting the real cause of the crisis: the discrepancy between man, society, and a unified world.

Sony Slashes Annual Operating Profit Forecast By 90%

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Reuters): “Sony Corp on Wednesday [November 2, 2011] slashed its full-year operating profit outlook by 90 percent to its lowest level in three years as Thai floods disrupt camera production at the Japanese company, which is already struggling with a soaring yen and sluggish television sales in the U.S. and Europe.”
My Comment: This should happen in the production and marketing of all but necessary goods. Rampant production and unlimited consumption will no longer exist!

Pentagon Prepares For Economic Warfare

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from poorrichards-blog): “The guests were assembled in the Warfare Analysis Laboratory, surrounded by uniformed officers from the highest levels of the Pentagon and a dizzying array of screens normally used to simulate nuclear world war.

“Behind the scenes, the military are worried about the market. For who owns much of this debt? China, the US’s most powerful rival and threat. And that makes America vulnerable to a new kind of bloodless but ruthless war.

“The group was split into five teams: America, Russia, China, Pacific Rim, and a ‘grey team,’ representing shady outfits such as terrorist organizations. They were sent into ‘bunker rooms’ and told to use financial or economic tools – currency, debt, stocks, gold – to bring their enemies to their knees. Everything was conducted via computer, and they could be as devious and ruthless as they liked.

“When the game was halted, the result left the military men quiet and sobered. Why did the bankers scare the soldiers? The answer lies in the way the world is now interconnected as never before.

“Over the past few years, China has been buying up US government debt and is now its biggest holder. If China were to dump this debt, it would totally screw with the economy.

“The markets are now global, the holdings in each other’s finances deep, and the technical ability to manipulate them instantaneous. In the 1970s the West feared that its enemies had their fingers on a nuclear button. The modern equivalent may be China’s ability to press the button on US Treasury bills.

“‘China is, Professor Bracken says, ‘the huge threat,’ but Russia, with its oil and gas, has shown no compunction in waging economic war on its neighbours, and could do so on a larger scale.

“Another possibility is that major oil-producing countries could destabilize America by switching to euros instead of dollars as the currency in which oil is priced – so-called ‘petro-dollar warfare.’ Or a terrorist organization might trigger a financial crash via some kind of shady hedge fund or computer attack.

“At the end of that Pentagon session, the 80-odd players returned from their bunkers and assessed the damage.

“China won, without so much as reaching for a gun. And the soldiers looked at each other and wondered if it was still only a game.”

My Comment: There is nothing surprising in the results of the economic war played out by their rules. But the experts were wrong: Namely due to total interconnection, there are no winners or losers in this war. Everyone will lose, and the only way out is to sequentially bring everyone to a single global community with reasonable consumption.

Mutual Guarantee De-Facto

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, “The Love for the Creator and Love for the Created Beings”: That is the reason he conditioned the mutual guarantee in the participation of the entire world. It shows that an individual cannot come to the desired goal on the spiritual path if not through the aid of all the people of the world.

This is very important. Even the greatest Kabbalist never attains the end of correction unless the whole world attains it to its final detail. It’s similar to how the body cannot be perfect if the function of at least one of its cells is disrupted. After all, this is an integral system.

That means the whole world has to reach the end of correction and the only question is, in what order do we correct ourselves. Some souls awakened before Abraham’s time, and some—in subsequent life cycles. Some are awakening today, and some haven’t awakened yet. Everyone has their own time and place in the common work of correction.

Thus, each and every correction that one performs affects the whole world.

A person incorporates the whole world and is included in every person as well. And that means everyone is corrected through him. This somewhat explains the laws of the integral system to us, which is exposing the universal interconnection today.

It is said, “But one sinner destroyeth much good.” It means that one’s sinning reduces the weight on the scale, as though that person took back the goodness he had put on the scale. By that one turns the world backwards.

This is the mutual guarantee, the real situation de-facto. It was concealed until now, which is why we were not required to observe this law, but today it is being revealed and is advancing the corresponding demands to us.

There is the desired and the actual. The actual is the system of universal interconnection that is being revealed where we are all included in one another. 80 years ago Baal HaSulam already wrote that the whole world is one family. Back then people didn’t feel it yet, but today we are finally starting to discover a certain connection, even though it still isn’t as tight as in a family. Even though our interdependence is unwanted, it is already obvious.

From one day to the next, this systematic connection will come through more and more clearly. We will see that every person influences everyone and is subject to everyone’s influence. This will seem horrible to us: How can we be under the whole world’s power?

There is simply nowhere for me to run, and that means I have to take care of worldwide education and correction of correct, good interconnections between people as fast as possible. Because this horrible interconnection really does exist, we all have to awaken at least a bit of pity, compassion, and empathy for others in every person. After all, we are all interconnected for good or for bad, and our influence is passed from each person to everyone and from everyone to each.

The Lack Of World Leadership

Opinion: (Mikhail Gorbachev, the former first secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, from ledevoir.com): “The 2008 crisis ‘is not just a financial crisis; it is the crisis of a development model based on market fundamentalism, making excessive profits, consumerism, and social and environmental irresponsibility’ said Mikhail Gorbachev, who sees the occupation of the public parks of western cities as ‘a legitimate protest conducted in accordance with democratic rules.’

“According to Mikhail Gorbachev, the world is not much safer today than before the end of the Cold War because diplomacy does not work. The former Soviet leader lamented the proliferation ‘of conflicts and crises, not only in Third World countries, but also in Europe…’

“Instead of a new world order, there has been a growing unrest and confusion in the world because of a lack of leadership at the international level, said Mr Gorbachev. The G8 is not representative enough, and the G20 has not yet become an effective tool to solve problems.”

Europe Should “Shoot” At The Crisis

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion: (Nouriel Roubini, chairman and co-founder of Roubini Global Economics LLC): “‘I’m very concerned of things getting out of control,’ Roubini said in an interview at Bloomberg’s Dubai office yesterday. ‘You need a huge bazooka of at least 2 trillion euros, but you can’t wait three months. You have to do it in the next few weeks.’

“‘The problem isn’t that Greece is insolvent, but that the fact of having two big elephants in the room – Italy and Spain,’ Roubini said. ‘They’re too big to fail but also too big to save. Even if they are illiquid, but solvent given austerity reform, they’ve already lost market credibility.’

“‘The steps that need to be taken to avoid a dissolvent situation are massive,’ said Roubini….

“‘What is the likelihood of all of these things occurring in a coherent, consistent and realistic way to avoid the mess?’ he asked. ‘I think it’s a low probability because of the political constraints.'” (Source: Bloomberg.com)

“‘I thought a few months ago that the perfect storm would be 2013…. But now, the economic weakness in the US, euro zone and the UK is front loaded. So we’re going to double dip earlier. The climax of it could be 2013, or it could be already earlier.'” (Source: Bloomberg.com)

My Comment: To solve the problem, it is necessary to see the future and what it has in store for us in each of the following scenarios:

  • Delay until the phenomenon itself manifests clearly;
  • Failure to render help;
  • Help.

Even if the future is not clear and there are various opinions, the trend of our advancement has to be understood: Human development leads to its full integration. And although this development towards unity takes place contrary to our personal, state, and national egoism, we must accept this natural evolution as an obligation, as a fact, and make decisions in accordance with it.

Europe united partially as it feared the recurrence of war, rather than desired integration. But today, not only the EU, but the whole world should ponder over the necessity of integration, according to the evolution of human society. We are facing the fact that integration is the next form of humanity and we cannot ignore it.

With each passing day, we are becoming closer, and we must rebuild our relationships at all levels accordingly. Otherwise, the whole humanity will collapse, in all its relationships and institutions. And Europe should set us an example.
