“What Is The Difference Between Prediction And Prophecy?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the difference between prediction and prophecy?

Prediction can be attributed to people having some knowledge about social, technological, scientific and cultural development, upon which they make assumptions about the future.

There is no certainty in their assumptions. They just know several technological, cultural, historical and political moments of history, and by relying on their scientific experience, they can forecast the future.

It is, in principle, the usual work of scientists whom we consult for advice on the future. They are no prophets. They are smart people who predict the future with some kind of probability coefficient. They do not know the future, but they have knowledge of today’s state, as well as trends and tendencies, and can roughly say what might happen tomorrow.

A prophet, however, is a person who can become immersed in the system of the world’s governance, feel the forces controlling it, and can to some extent align themselves with such forces. Therefore, prophets do not predict what will happen based on some calculations, but simply say what should and could be.

We see stories about such people in kabbalistic sources such as The Zohar and the Torah, and we call them “prophets” because due to their spiritual development, they rise above our world’s limits of time, space and motion, and thus tell us what could happen.

There are no prophets in our time. We are at such a level that we no longer wait for them nor do we believe in them.

“Why Is Our World Becoming More Dangerous?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why is our world becoming more dangerous?

The human ego drives our evolution. As our ego becomes globally interconnected, our egoistic connections interlink, and we find ourselves in a snake pit of sorts, where everyone wants to use everyone else to their benefit.

Even though the growing ego develops us technologically, scientifically and socially, we need to reach a state where we question how we came to this.

Instead of making ourselves happier the more we develop, our egoistic development leads to the contrary. We find that no one truly benefits from such a form of development, except a few who manage to twist it to their advantage.

I thus see nothing positive in our so-called “progress” other than it bringing us closer to a state that Kabbalah calls “the recognition of evil.” The recognition of evil takes place when we realize our goals are wrong, that they lead to negative outcomes, increasing suffering, a terrible life, and we have no choice but to re-examine our entire existence, questioning how we reached such a state.

Also, what does it mean that our ego has become globally interconnected today, and how does that contribute to the world becoming increasingly dangerous?

According to Kabbalah, the human ego that drives our evolution is called the “desire to enjoy” with an intention to enjoy for self-benefit alone. The more we develop, the bigger the ego, and the stronger the realization of our egoistic goals. We then find ourselves increasingly wanting to devour others and nature in order to gain from the world, even if it means destroying the world in the process.

The reason we have not yet gone all the way and started an all-out war is because we see the end of the world as our own end. However, various crises—economic, cultural and social—loom in our world today, threatening to erupt in such a war.

If we wish to alleviate further suffering and change course to a positive path, we then need a new form of education, one capable of transforming our egoistic relations to altruistic ones. By changing the educational, media and cultural influences that we encounter on a daily basis to ones that teach how our true nature operates, the need for appreciating positive connection over divisiveness, as well as regular examples and exercises of the latter, and how altruism and positive connection are the fundamental laws of nature, we would then be on track to the greatest ever transition in history—from increasing danger, uncertainty, emptiness and anxiety to a harmonious, balanced, peaceful and happy life for all.

“Which Human Activity Causes The Most Harmful Change In The Natural Environment?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Which human activity causes the most harmful change in the natural environment?

Nature, which includes humanity, is a single, integral and closed system.

Humans hold the highest level in nature, i.e., out of the four levels, still, vegetative, animate and human. We are the highest level, because we have the innermost influence on nature, not just physically and mechanically, for instance, with the development of our technologies, but also mentally and emotionally.

As such, while it might appear that our technological and industrial activity causes the most harm to the natural environment, what really causes the most harm are our negative attitudes to each other. The hatred that exists on the human level—which does not exist on nature’s other levels—corrupts nature. On one hand, we are in a closed, interconnected and interdependent system, and on the other hand, our negative attitudes toward each other in such a system negatively affect all kinds of connections between us and nature.

What we need to understand is that we exist in a field of thoughts and desires. Beyond the physical forces that we see and feel with our senses, we increasingly discover that there are deeper forces at work. For instance, we once lived in periods where we did not know that electricity, radio waves and atomic energy existed, but we eventually discovered these forces.

We are coming closer to the threshold of discovering that our negative thoughts, desires and attitudes toward each other harm nature more than any physical activity that we conduct, for instance, more than chopping down trees or burning fossil fuels, as we commonly think about it. Also, the most harmful thoughts and desires toward our natural environment are those where we wish to harm each other. If we focus on correcting our thoughts, desires and attitudes toward each other, we would likewise discover a favorable response from nature—we would see how all kinds of phenomena that we perceive as negative, such as natural disasters, would decrease the more that we engage in shifting our attitudes to each other from negative to positive, egoistic to altruistic and hateful to loving.

“Can You Describe How Humans Receive And Transmit Information?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Can you describe how humans receive and transmit information?

We transmit our positive or negative attitude to each other, and likewise, we perceive positive or negative attitudes from one another.

What we transmit, project and receive—the interaction and interference between these waves—is what creates our world.

Today, science demonstrates a phenomenon that the wisdom of Kabbalah has discussed for thousands of years—that the waves of two objects synchronize when they meet, because they equalize, collide, cancel each other out, and create a destructive effect.

What this means in relation to our lives is that we each receive and transmit information, and accordingly, we would be wise to work on our ability to transmit positive attitudes to each other. We would then also become relatively protected in perceiving a positive, balanced and harmonious world.

“What Is The Unified Field Of Consciousness In A Nutshell?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the Unified Field of Consciousness in a nutshell?

In Hebrew, the unified field of consciousness is called “Ohr Ein Sof,” which means “infinite light.” It envelops, permeates and includes everything: us and everything outside of us.

It is a unique field, a frequency that becomes revealed as love and bestowal. We can disclose it only if we are equivalent in form with it.

Our current form is egoism, a desire to enjoy, often at the expense of others and nature. Egoism is the exact opposite to the form of the light, which is one of love and bestowal, or in other words, altruism.

If we correct ourselves by inverting egoism to altruism, i.e. to start acting out of a desire to benefit others and treat each other favorably, then we will feel the unified field of consciousness.

In other words, by correcting our attitudes to each other—from viewing others as a means to benefit ourselves, to viewing ourselves as a means to benefit others—then we will all become as one, and feel the perfection of the unified field we exist in, the infinite light.

“What Would Happen To The Jews In Israel If It Became Palestine Again?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What would happen to the Jews in Israel if it became Palestine again?

This question was discussed at the Promise of the Hereafter Conference that took place recently in Gaza. The conferences’ attendees spoke of the disappearance of the State of Israel as a historic event that would take place in a few years, and the conference’s discourse centered on how to deal with the Jews that would remain in the land after Palestine’s liberation.

First, why is the question of eliminating the Jewish state a desirable topic for a conference?

It is because we Jews have yet to learn who we truly are, and instead of realizing our roots—to come together in common love and connection—we relate to each other divisively and egoistically. While we behave as a divided people, then our enemies see it possible to make us disappear from the world.

Until we realize the need to change ourselves, to know what our purpose, role and obligation is in the world—to positively connect with each other in order to bring about a new, harmonious and peaceful world—then the world will feel us increasingly as the root of their problems, relating increasingly negatively toward us.

Therefore, if we emphasized our becoming a united nation that acts as a positive example of unity, care and love, and which projects positive connection, harmony and peace throughout humanity, then the discussion about us would shift. Instead of talking about how to deal with the Jews in a liberated Palestine, people would instead discuss how to reach the kinds of positive, harmonious and peaceful relations that the Jews project.

“What Are Some Good Things That We Should Look Forward To In The Year 2022?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What are some good things that we should look forward to in the year 2022?

That people will open their eyes to understand the universal formula of nature—one of perfect connection and mutuality—to see, feel, enter into and exist in this formula.

We would then experience an opposite world to our current one. Everybody would live according to the tenet, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and we would experience harmony and balance on all of nature’s levels.

No Need To Sink With The Titanic

632.1Comment: Yulia writes: “It is obvious that we all live in connection with nature and with each other. We hear you when you call us to be human in the true sense. But how can this be practically achieved? Everyone today lives concerned only with personal problems and joys. To unite people, some kind of grandiose step-by-step program is needed. In my opinion, people can unite only if something concerns them personally.”

Answer: Absolutely right! She speaks correctly. But what can be done? You somehow fold your hands and say, “That’s it. We can’t do anything. We will watch as we slowly sink, like on the Titanic.”

I think that’s wrong. We have to fight. If we turn to the upper force of nature that created us like this and strive to rise in connection with each other, then we should succeed.

Otherwise we just go down to our end. We have no other option. Alternatively we advance gradually and kill ourselves. This could happen in the next war. Or we will rise above ourselves and begin to implement good relations after all.

Question: Yulia wrote: “Some kind of grandiose step-by-step program is needed to unite people.” Does it exist?

Answer: The program exists. But she has to connect to it.

We have this program, and we are trying to disseminate it, explain it, and implement it. It is in front of you, please.

Question: In this step-by-step program of ours there are several stages about which questions are asked all the time. And you have talked about them. The first is “don’t do to others what you don’t want done to yourself.” And the other is “love your neighbor as yourself.” Can you explain them to people in a very simple way?

Answer: This is reaching the level of Bina and reaching the level of Keter.

I’ll say it simply. The first is to rise above your ego. This is “don’t do to others what you don’t want done to yourself.” To achieve a neutral state when you don’t want to do anyone any harm.

And the second is when you want to fill everyone with absolute goodness. That’s it. Two steps.

“Why Are There So Many Conspiracies That The Jews Are Behind The Coronavirus?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why are there so many conspiracies that the Jews are behind the coronavirus?

The many conspiracies discussing Jews as behind and benefiting from the coronavirus emerge as part of a more general pressure on the Jewish people that exists in nature, which ultimately aims to lead the Jewish people to unite: to reach mutual love and care for one another, in order to become a conduit for unity to spread throughout humanity.

When we, the Jewish people, will unite with common threads of love between us, then the lies and the pressure against us will subside, and in its place will form a blossoming harmonious connection.

The Jewish people were established when a group of ancient Babylonians gathered around a unifying ideology, to reach “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In other words, we are not a nation that shares a natural biological connection, but we were formed when we attained connection around a deeply unifying ideology.

The further we are from realizing the ideology that initially made us a Jewish people—a common love among us—the more pressure and hatred arises against us. On the contrary, the closer we come to realizing a common love in our connections, the more we will find not only calm and peace, but moreover, an inversion of the hatred against us into one of love and reverence for a people who bring peace, love and harmony to the world.

As Rabbi Akiva said, “Love your friend as yourself—this is a great rule in the Torah.” We need to implement this great rule among us here on earth. At the moment, we are far from realizing it, and this is exactly what we need to do: to bring the law of “Love your friend as yourself” to everyone—to implement it among each other, and it will then spread to everyone. Then, the world will stop hating us.

“Why Do So Many People Believe In Conspiracy Theories?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Why do so many people believe in conspiracy theories?

We live in a world where people find it increasingly difficult, if at all, to believe the authorities, because they see how the highest positions are held by the most deceitful wheeler-dealers and liars who primarily consider their own power goals. I do not blame such people in any way, because if you want to achieve something in the egoistic world, then you need to lock yourself on that goal, and do whatever necessary in order to achieve it.

In the past, we used to believe the media, but who believes the media today? We have no idea what percentage of the media is real or fake, truth or lies. It is as if we are in the dark, and we grab hold of something in our hands thinking that it is a cat, but if we turn the light on, we see that it is a pillow.

We will not reach the truth the way we are currently going. In order to reach the truth, we need to collectively say, “Enough! We don’t want to live like this anymore! We’re not going to use television, radio or the media anymore because it’s all a lie through which we’re being used!”

Of course, this awakens the question: What would replace our current media consumption? It is possible to live without the media if we build something completely independent, where we accept nothing but what brings about a positive connection among people, and that we try to reach a state of mutual consideration and care. Everything we receive is ultimately sourced in a force of love and bestowal, which is nature’s quality, before it becomes distorted by our egoistic human nature, which thinks and acts to benefit at the expense of others and nature.

The very force of nature that permeates reality acts for the benefit of everyone and everything. This is before it comes into contact with our egoistic nature, which acts for the detriment of everyone and everything—considering only self-benefit. It can be thus thought that nature itself conspires against us. It wants us to understand that we have no choice but to learn how it works.

If we learn how nature works in its pure altruistic form, then there will be no more room for conspiracies. We will then see how we create such conspiracies, and thus also how to rid ourselves of them.
