Question: In the process of studying, everything is changing: There are both physical and virtual workshops. At what point is the individual work with oneself, with a book, with the source?

Answer: What for? Where do I solve the problem of creating within me a sense of the spiritual world? It’s only in the group! What is the use if I sit down and study on my own?

Sometimes, it is necessary to better understand what happens to me in the end. In such cases, I must admit that I need to study on my own, reread at home, not only such serious materials as The Study of the Ten Sefirot diagrams, but also the articles, the letters of Rabash and Baal HaSulam.

If individual studies are needed to better understand correctly what you have to do for the group, then study and if not, then why do you need other studies? They may even discourage you.

You will begin to understand a lot, to think that you are a wise person and that you don’t need anything else. As a result, you get the poison of death instead of the elixir of life. There is a symbol in medicine, a bowl with snake venom that can be a poison and can be the basis for drugs. So here; you need to be very careful when it comes to studying. The main thing is intention!

The sum of our gratitude for the past gives us the total vessel (Kli) for the disclosure of the Creator, total sensitivity, power, intensity, suffering, movement forward. Why is gratitude so important? Because in this way a person already has a positive attitude to the Creator, to the Light; he sees It positively, and the Light shines on him as It is ready to shine the Light.

When we give thanks for the past, and everyone makes such an effort connecting with the friends in the group to gain the strength to relate to the past correctly, then we unite and form the common desire to understand and reveal the Creator. This is on the one hand.

On the other hand, this desire is filled with gratitude, awareness, and appreciation of the past because we begin to feel that it was absolutely necessary in order to come to this current state where we start to enter the upper world. Why is this state that we obtain by nullifying the negative past a means to reveal the Creator? Because it gives us absolute confidence that the world is ruled by only one positive force. Thus, we can feel like a baby in its mother’s arms. Nothing else is necessary; everything is in complete order. A baby can smell his mother, and he feels safe in her arms.

Once we reach this state of security and confidence, the world becomes infinite; it simply gives way. A person feels that he is unlimited. Nothing constricts us; we are under no authority, pressure, or constraints, neither conscious nor subconscious! And that is why the upper world is revealed, the total, true universe in which we live which has been compressed to the level, the size, of this world by our constant, alarming, apprehension of something unpleasant, and by lacking the proper characteristic of the Creator who rules and dominates everything. Thus revelation occurs. It is possible to bring yourself to the full revelation of the upper governance only by working on yourself, your past, present, and future. By this, we completely eliminate time, the most limiting factor of our world. Completely! If I think that I am in one constant force that controls everything and keeps everything in an absolutely positive state, then there is no time. What changes? There is no motion or movement, no top, bottom, no coordinates, just one simple space, the world of Infinity.

Of course, we need to grow to this state. I also don’t know what it is yet. But at least, the expansion of the sphere in which we exist by obtaining guarantees, security, the feeling of oneself in the mercy of the quality of bestowal which gives us this movement outwards to the expansion of the sphere.

Question: Do I act correctly by praying for everybody and wanting that each of us will also ask the Creator for the Light for all? I want that everyone will find themselves in this society, in this Light, and that the Creator will help each of us to acquire it.

Answer: Why for “each of us” and not all of us? Isn’t it better if it’s everybody together?

Why do we talk about unification, about aspiring towards unity? It’s because in spirituality there is no such state like “I,” “he,” “you,” and so on. It’s better to ask in the name of “we.”

Try and you will see that life will instantly become clearer, better for everybody. In this “we,” you will discover the only state that exists. And the current state will gradually move away from you and will indeed be felt as illusory—it’s just that we had been aimed like that before.

The more you value the upper one, the closer you become to the Light. When you justify the Creator, revere Him, from that height, you get an additional desire (Aviut), the fall. The closer you come to the Light, the greater the intensity with which It works on you.

The effect of the Light is amplified with your approach, by your attempt to get closer, and that is why informational genes (Reshimot) are manifested at a higher rate and have a character closer to the Light, according to your desire.

And on the way, the depth of your desire and negative feelings are revealed to you, but all this is within the same positive trend, although the state may seem quite the opposite. That is why you perform correction even in the darkness.

It is known from the science of Kabbalah that we are in a constant state. Only our sensitivity, our perception of this state, changes.

How can we improve this sensitivity? If I were to add the sensitivity of my friends to the sensitivity that I received today—that is, to the point in the heart, if I connect my heart with their hearts—this will be enough for me to begin to feel the true state I am in.

How do we connect our hearts? Our attempts unfortunately lead nowhere. We address this request to the Creator, to the Light. I try repeatedly, but little works.

Why? It is because our attitude toward this is egoistic. We want to receive all the time, to increase our sensitivity of this world we are in, but we can see from it only a small, faint fragment. We want to expand our egoistic properties and absorb the upper world.

We should come out with a different attitude. This is correct attitude to the connection between us, to the feeling of the upper world, based on the property of gratitude.

Gratitude! Any human action, no matter what, should start with it. It is said that, even if a sharp sword were to be raised over your head, you still have to give thanks and firmly hope that this is only for the better, and thus the Light works on you so that precisely such critical conditions put you in the right attitude toward the upper governance.

Question: If I don’t know who to appeal to before a prayer, then why do I experience a sense of trepidation before the Creator, a fear of appealing to the Creator?

Answer: I envy you. This means that you know Who you’re addressing.

It is a very exalted state when a person addresses the quality of bestowal, the Light, or something higher and feels a sense of trepidation. This means that he feels the extent to which his state, his life, each cell and each moment, all of his relationships and encounters, all depend only on the Light. That is, he feels that he is not the one in control of himself, that he isn’t in charge of the next moment, and that everything exist outside of him. He doesn’t yet sense whose hands he is in and because of that he feels a sense of trepidation. For the time being this is an animal trepidation, but it propels us forward.

Then at some point, an opposite sensation of confidence will come, making me feel good, as if I don’t depend on myself. Nothing could be worse than actually being in charge of myself and my destiny!

I’m glad that there is Light that determines everything, forms everything, and guides me. The only thing that remains for me to do is to feel and work in unison with the Light, which is the only way for me to realize all of this.

We must include all of creation inside us because it is one whole. The still, vegetative, and animate nature and all the humans on earth, all those who lived in the past, the Kabbalists who paved this path for us and who have already fulfilled their correction within the general desire, all this should turn into one whole.

Today we are in a very special situation as the world is demanding this, and so we have been given this special opportunity.

We already know that the Light is the only pre-existing force in the world. The Light created our general desire and can do whatever is necessary with it in order to bring it to the goal.

This immense desire includes billions of stars and other things that fill our universe and everything that is on the face of the earth, the special particle of the universe in which we exist, the unique creatures, and among them even more unique ones, you, those who were given the desire to discover this whole system, this whole greatness, and to rise even higher. It is you who were given the opportunity of freewill.

The Light creates everything; it gives birth and changes things. Everything stems from the Light. All the descents and ascents, everything that we experience, and everything that was and will be is all created by the Light. So, as our teachers tell us, our freewill is to study how to manage with the help of this Light. The Light itself wants it and is ready to fulfill our desires if they are aimed in the right direction.

Thus, of all the options we have, we have to choose only one correct direction. In order for this direction to be true, we were given different conditions that on the whole make up “this world,” a special state in which we can prepare for that, in order to continue changing all of creation with the help of the Light.

A prayer is needed here, a request. It can be a plea of gratitude, a demand, a request, an expression of fear, of respect or of joy; It is important that this plea be correct.

In order for it to be correct, we were given a group: many people who gather together. Why? Because a prayer should be whole, complete, which means to stem from all the different possible feelings, from different relations and attitudes towards the Light, from different states: descents, ascents, detachment, indifference, and an emotional attitude.

It is different for every individual and we all add our states to one another in order to get a whole prayer. Some of the people are above in their feelings and some are below. Some cry, others laugh, and some are indifferent. The prayers can be quite different, of different types, on different levels, and from different people: for themselves, for society, for family, for friends, for the Creator.

But when people yearn to advance, their prayers connect into one whole and then even the requests a person expresses childishly, egoistically, without any understanding also operate. A person cannot perceive himself fully yet: what his request means, for what, for whom, and for what purpose—if he begins to say phrases he learned by heart, it will not be his own plea, but if he speaks from his heart, even if it is an egoistic prayer, but he has suffered until he expresses it, it will work.

So we have to pay attention to our general collective desire that is called a “prayer of many.” It is this prayer that collects all the options and forms of our feelings and attitudes; each of us can be in different states. When everyone comes together, our states connect. We also have to think about nature and all of humanity, and then everything really accumulates inside and concentrates within our group. It is the center of the group that makes the point where all our desires and yearning come together. This point is where the contact with the Creator occurs. From it, everything spreads back to our collective group and then to all of humanity and then to all of nature.

If we thus try to collect all our yearnings for the Creator we receive the right answer from Him.

Yesterday we tried it ourselves and I want to read to you some of these pleas:

• “Let me feel the fear of a lack of desire to connect in order to feel You.”
• “Give us the power to reveal the lack of desire to unite for Your sake, that this becomes our greatest sorrow, our desire.”

We said that it is very hard to reach such a desire because it summons suffering, and we escape suffering and automatically, immediately extinguish them.

• “Give us a desire to connect that is so intense that it will be the same for all.”

Which means that the desire to connect will include everyone.

There are prayers for our construction, our connection, and our yearning. These are preliminary requests, and only then comes the request from the true desire, the one that stabilizes us and directs us towards the Light, so that it can correct us, so that it will reveal itself among us.

• “Connect us into one whole, so that Your Light will bring everyone to connection and unity through the Light.”
• “Please help us keep the right intention that behind everything there is the Creator.”
• “Teach us to pray so that we can see You in others.”
• “Accept the prayer of my friends and give me the power to pray for them.”
• “Give us a desire in which we will discover Your love.”
• “Help us be worthy of discovering You.”
• “Give us the strength to act as if we already love one another.”
• “Give me the strength to understand who I am, so that my life will be turned into a relationship with You.”
• “Allow me to pray for the friends. Everything else we can do.”

These are our prayers.

Question: What is the prayer of many? Is it when we have one need or when I don’t have a single thought about myself, but only the desire of the group, of the world?

Answer: The prayer of many is when you can unite all the desires of all creatures in your request to raise them to the Creator, to give Him an opportunity to be revealed because this is His joy.

Question: How can I achieve this?

Answer: You are trying to sense them, to get out of yourself, and to begin to feel them, thus you inject their desires into yourself. In fact, you don’t need to cover the whole world and feel absolutely everyone. That will come later because you will perceive this single desire in this way. The Light will affect you and show you all this, evoking your feelings. But until then, you make such attempts as much as you can.

This is a time-consuming work because the process of preparation is the longest, most difficult period since we are operating in the dark. But then, each degree will have its own specific entrances and exits, internal process, analysis and synthesis of all that I do, manifest, and feel from others.

This inclusion of all desires into myself is what is called bestowal: when I start to feel the desires of others as my own. The desires mean aspirations for the Creator. And if there are none, it does not matter. When I start to connect with other people, first in the group, I begin to feel within the group that they strive for the Creator, even if they do not understand and do not know. I start to see and feel this desire everywhere: in people, animals, and plants. After all, the desire for life is also the yearning for the Creator, for the Light.

Question: Before coming to the convention, we had many negative obstacles on our path. How should we accept and overcome them?

Answer: All the problems that arise along the way are not accidental; it is necessary to feel help in them. Under no circumstances should this postpone or annul your goal.

You need to re-evaluate the goal itself again and aim yourself even more sharply towards it. And then you pass and see that the last time, your intentions were imprecisely coordinated towards the goal: You forgot something, somehow weren’t yet focused on it, while now, thanks to the disturbances, you determined it accurately, compressed a little more compactly in your intention, and therefore you dive towards the goal.

So all the disturbances are to your advantage: They either stop you because you aren’t yet worthy to attain the goal, or conversely, they force you to compress so that you are able and worthy, and you proceed towards the goal.

We are inside a force field where there are no accidents, no exceptions, and no special treatments. This is how it works.

Our awakening to the Creator usually starts when a certain grievance towards Him arises in us. Only rarely do we turn to the Creator with gratitude, and more often we do so with complaints and grievances.

Such grievances awaken in a person repeatedly. But if he nevertheless remains in a group and continues to study, drawing the Light to himself, then he begins to realize that all the problems, suffering, hardening of the heart, shame—all are situations that the Creator arranges for him in life, and the most unpleasant ones especially are designed to show him that everything comes from the Creator.

And secondly, he needs to understand that he shouldn’t ask for all these problems to be fixed since then he would be turning to the Creator from his egoism. But a person must turn to the Creator above all of these problems, agreeing with Him, rejoicing, and seeing in all of these actions, which evoke in him various unpleasant reactions, the Creator’s kindness and mercy that accompany him throughout his entire life. He needs to ask for correction of his attitude to the Creator.

He needs to try to correct himself above all of these unpleasant sensations, perceiving them as obstacles above which he can rise if he desires to perceive them as kind help in attaining the property of bestowal. And then, all of these unpleasant situations, pain, shame, and confusions will appear to him as the opposite, as help and mercy from the Creator who sends them so that a person would accept them as good, and above them will ask for his correction.

And in completing this stage, a person asks for the possibility to be ready for anything that comes from the Creator, blessing in advance for all the bad as for the good. This means to accept the Creator’s direct and indirect governance, as it is written: “Thou hast hemmed me in behind and before.”

So our work consists not in asking the unpleasant sensations, situations, influences, and disturbances to be removed and solved. Instead, we need to be prepared to see the Creator’s hand in all of these actions, especially sent so that above them, we would build our correct attitude and form vessels of bestowal. And do it to such an extent that these problems and disturbances will not only stop bothering us, but we will see in them a special mercy and benevolence.

Then we will not ask the Creator to solve our problems, and instead we will correct our properties ourselves, because we will see the benefit of these problems. And instead of all kinds of evil, we will see only good in the same places.
