Manifesto For A Federal Europe

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Euronews): “‘For Europe!’ is a new book, written by two staunch pro-Europeans – Daniel Cohn-Bendit of the Group of Greens-European Free Alliance and Guy Verhofstadt, leader of Liberals in the European Parliament.

“Released in six languages, the book aims to be a manifesto, spelling out the benefits of a united Europe.

“’Actually this is a book which has been written in anger, in fury against the national elites who, according to Daniel and I, are incapable of dealing with the crisis we are in today.

“’We very clearly state that the only way, the only realistic solution, is to create a federal union, a federal Europe,” said Verhofstadt, who is also a former Belgian Prime Minister.

“Both men attempt to make the case that a unified Europe has a better chance in the face of global competition. However, closer political integration would be vital, according to Cohn-Bendit, who spoke to euronews at the book launch in Brussels.

“’We do think that the European model has to be ‘parliamenterized’!

“’We suggest that the Commission has to become the real government of Europe. And we think that there should be two chambers, the Parliament and a Senate. The Senate could, for instance, be formed for by the governments of the member-states or by representatives of the national parliaments. This would be a democratic model,’ he said.”

My Comment: Despite the credibility of the authors, hardly anyone in the EU leadership will hear them. Perhaps after a series of sufferings the current EU leaders will be able to listen…

“A Democracy Is Always Temporary In Nature”

Opinion (Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, 1887): “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.

“From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.

“During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

In The Era Of Globalization The Crisis Is A Contagious Disease

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from TD Waterhouse): “World trade will grow by a mere 2.5 percent this year, dragged down by Europe to less than half of the previous 20-year average, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said on Friday [September 21, 2012]…

“‘I see the risk more on the downside than the upside,’ WTO Director General Pascal Lamy said at a news conference in Singapore. ‘What could be surprising is that you have a volume of trade that is lower than world (economic) growth.’ …

“‘The main reason for the growth slowdown is of course Europe,’ said Lamy… ‘We also know U.S. growth is lower than expected, (and) Japan is not in great shape.’”

My Comment: It is left only to discover how much we are connected not only economically and politically, but also spiritually. We, all of humanity, are a single whole in nature and completely dependent on each other in everything. The development of nature and human evolution are intended for us to reveal this fact in the near future, either through suffering or awareness, and thus evoke in us the need to unite as one family, contrary to and above all our contradictions “by love above hatred.”

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission): “He explained he wanted to see Europe develop into a federation of nation states, while at the same time sharing sovereignty between EU members. He also spoke of the need to focus on growth in order to bring sustainable employment, especially for young people.

“He denied the single currency was the cause of Europe’s problems, but admitted not being institutionally prepared for the euro crisis.”

My Comment: While Europeans are planning their “national” and “state” sovereignty, the crisis will worsen.  No other path but suffering is seen. It is difficult to become aware of the need to follow unified nature in human community especially for Europeans.

The Reassuring Message

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Telegraph): “In a document released on Tuesday after a meeting between 11 foreign ministers in Warsaw, the bloc, which includes all the largest European countries outside Britain, charted a vision for the ‘future of Europe.’

“As well as calling for a single, elected head of state for Europe, the bloc demanded a new defence policy, under the control of a new pan-EU foreign ministry commanded by Baroness Ashton, which ‘could eventually involve a European army.’…

“The plan, which has the backing of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Holland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg and Portugal the plan, is likely to fuel calls for a British referendum on membership of the European Union….

“In a joint statement, Guido Westerwelle and Radek Sikorski, the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland, called for the creation of a single EU President, running the commission and overseeing regular summits, who is directly elected by voters in a pan-European vote ‘on the same day in all member states.’”

My Comment: Thus, without a crisis, they could gradually reach the need for unity. For the time being, it is a step forward, forced, but correct. But if they stop on deepening integration, the crisis will be rekindled again; it will not go anywhere, but will be just “burning” slowly until humanity reaches its full integration like one family. So, it is up to them to decide how to realize it—on their own accord or through punishment. If they want to reach this through conscious development of the desire to bestow and love, they need the science of Kabbalah. Otherwise, they will be driven to happiness by force.

Several Possible Scenarios For The Fate Of Europe

“Interview: U.S. Fate Is In U.S. Hands”

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Zbigniew Brzezinski, political scientist [blog author’s comments in bold font]): “I do think that we have unfortunately delegitimized ourselves, therefore making it easier for some parts of the world driven by historical narratives to be instinctively hostile to us. We have ignored that, and we have acted as if we were endowed with some special mission. George W. Bush even said, ‘Our nation is chosen by God and commissioned by history to be a model to the world.’”

This is the mistake on the part of the US.

“We have to start understanding as a nation that we have to act differently. We have to rebuild coalitions. … If we are intelligent about it, we are still in position to be the most influential force in the world, but we have to be intelligent. And to be intelligent, we have to have leaders who understand this, who have a sense of the fundamental historical change that is making this century different from the preceding one.”

This is impossible because for this they need to know the plan of the Creator, Nature, instead of inventing the future themselves that is opposite to the goal of Nature.

“But more important, perhaps, or at least as important, we have to have a public that has some rudimentary understanding of foreign affairs. What really makes me worried is that our public doesn’t understand the world. It’s not even informed about the world. … We have a public that’s ignorant and susceptible to demagogy. And that handicaps leadership, even if it is intelligent. Of course, it becomes worse if the leadership is not very intelligent and itself operates with simplistic slogans.”

Ignorance of the world and its future form is in our case the general condition of all those controlling the world.

“We are less aware for a very simple reason: because the world is much more complex. Americans weren’t better informed about global history before, and they are still abysmally informed about global history. Americans weren’t very informed about global geography. They’re still basically ignorant, even though that is scandalous. …

“But I think what it would take is some shared national consensus about how we define a decent and responsible life in the modern complex world. I don’t think we have that. We have slogans about being successful. We have slogans about ‘job creators.’ We have slogans about everybody having the right to reach the sky in the quest for material self-satisfaction. We have a definition of the good life, which involves the accumulation of material goods plus entertainment.

“These are clusters of issues that are interrelated, and it will require a real jolt for us to start thinking seriously about how we can re-create a healthy society here that is still the compelling image for the world that it once was. Then, the American dream was widely shared. Today, it isn’t.”

For this, you must at least have a plan of the future history of humankind and the possible ways of development as they are dependent on our behavior; all this is given by the science of Kabbalah if we will wish to reveal it for ourselves. The fate of the world is in his hands if he understands how to manage this fate.

The Israeli Palestinian Deadlock

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Zbigniew Brzezinski, politician): “I think we’re stuck, and I feel sorry for the people involved. I feel sorry for Israel. I’m a child of World War II, and I know what the Jewish people went through. I feel sorry for the Palestinians. It’s a bad situation, and I think the growing turmoil in the Middle East is increasingly making it more and more difficult to get a compromise adopted because one or the other side either feels aggrieved or outraged or endangered. …

“Suppose we do get into a war with Iran. How do we end it? How long will it last? Who else is going to be in it with us to help us? How will it play domestically over the longer haul?…

But much worse, we will drive the Europeans into the hands of the Russians, who will be rubbing their hands. The Russians are very worried that the price of energy, which oscillates between $90 and $120 right now, is not sufficiently high to meet their budgetary expectations. But if the price of a barrel goes up $200, they’ll be sitting pretty. The Europeans will be totally dependent. The Chinese will be hurt; so will the Japanese. That will not help the global economy either. …

“Last but not least, I think we certainly have the means and even a moral obligation to do for the people in the Middle East, and particularly for the Israelis, what we have been prepared over the years to do for the Europeans, and then for the Japanese and the Koreans. Namely, we should give them a really binding, reliable commitment that they are fully covered by the American nuclear deterrent, by stating publicly that ‘any threat to Israel, or worse, direct action against anybody in the Middle East would be viewed as an action directed at the United States, with all of the consequences that might entail.’ We succeeded in protecting the Europeans and deterring the Soviets. We have protected successfully the Japanese and the Koreans. We certainly can do it for the Middle East.”

My Comment: Israel has developed the view that the US is headed toward eliminating the state of Israel. Israel does not believe it has US support. This is evident from the fact that Jerusalem is not accepted as the capital of Israel in the plans of Obama’s Democratic Party. Having supported the “Arab Spring,” the US put itself under the blow and left the place of an independent main player. This is the opinion in Israel.

What is important for us is not the opinion of people, but the opinion of Kabbalah because this science is based on the knowledge of the source of Nature, the Creator. As Kabbalah says, since the correction of the world is possible only from Israel, the US weakens itself through its unilateral plans by decreasing the impact of the forces of correction on itself (Ohr Makif).

In our modern integral world, a politician must know where human development is heading—to the integral world; that is, for establishing a complete integral connection between people, changing a person through integral education and upbringing. The world will come to this quickly by the good path—the introduction of integral upbringing, or by the path of suffering—a world war. That is what Kabbalah says. If the head of the world, the President, does not have this knowledge, his “linear egoistical” knowledge and maneuvering will not work today.

“Fall Of EU Could Help A New Hitler Come To Power”

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Geoffrey Roberts, British historian): “The political and economic crisis of the EU might help a new European Hitler to emerge, warns professor Geoffrey Roberts. He believes the current rise of ultra-nationalism in Europe resembles that one of 1930s as history tends to repeat itself. …

“’If the eurozone collapses, if the EU collapses, the most likely scenario it would be replaced by different fronts of nationalists. Good question is what forms of nationalism, how extreme and dangerous they are going to be.’
“’That is the historical lesson, what happened before WWII, particularly the 1930s when there was a crisis similar to the one we’re going through now. The result of that was the rise of extreme nationalism, the emergence of a number of authoritarian and Nazi-type regimes in Europe.’”
From Baal HaSulam’s book The Last Generation: It turns out that the world erroneously considers Nazism a particular upshot of Germany. In truth, it is the upshot of a democracy and socialism that were left without manners, religion and justice. Thus, all nations are equal in that; there is no hope at all that Nazism will perish with the victory of the allies. Tomorrow, the British will adopt Nazism, since they too live in a world of democracy and Nazism.

Remember, that democrats too must renounce religion, manners, and justice like the Marxists, because all these are loyal servants of the assertive in the public only. They always place obstacles before the democrats, or the better part of the public.

It is true that thinkers among the democrats keep a watchful eye that religion and manners are not destroyed at once, for they know that the world will be ruined. However, to that extent they also interfere with the government of the majority. Once the majority grows smart and understands them, it will certainly elect other leaders, such as Hitler, since he is a genuine representative of the majority of the public, be it German, British or Polish.

Why No One Will Dominate The 21st Century

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Affairs, Georgetown University): “The distribution of global power is fast changing. That much is certain. China and other developing nations are quickly ascending the pecking order. Meanwhile, the three pillars of the Western world – the United States, Europe, and Japan – are beset by a prolonged economic downturn and disaffected electorates.

“The absence of consensus over which a country will oversee the coming world is just as it should be. That’s because the twenty-first century will not be dominated by any country. The United States will do just fine, but the era of Western primacy is coming to an end. Meanwhile, none of the world’s rising nations will have the combination of material and ideological strength needed to exercise global hegemony. Although ascending nations have forged a new grouping – the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) – to coordinate their policies and aggregate their muscle, they do not share a coherent vision of what comes next. They know what they do not want: the continuation of a world dominated by the West. But they are very unlikely to arrive at a common view of what they want instead. This century will not belong to the United States, China, India, Brazil, or anyone else; it will be no one’s world.”

My Comment: The world will change, not according to the rules of international relations, but in accordance with the change in people. It will “fall apart” in order to be “assembled” in a completely new world order that will be dominated by one force only: the force of mutual bestowal, guarantee, and love.

The Domino Effect

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)): “Major donors’ aid to developing countries fell by nearly 3% in 2011, breaking a long trend of annual increases. Disregarding years of exceptional debt relief, this was the first drop since 1997. Continuing tight budgets in OECD countries will put pressure on aid levels in coming years.

“‘The fall of ODA is a source of great concern, coming at a time when developing countries have been hit by the knock-on effect of the crisis and need it most. Aid is only a fraction of total flows to low income countries, but these hard economic times also mean lower investment and lower exports.’”

My Comment: So far the crisis is held back by the year of presidential re-election (the economy of election), but then it will hit everyone like a tsunami.
