Why Does The Creator Keep Being Concealed From You?

Dr. Michael LaitmanWho is the Creator? The Creator is the general quality of bestowal and love. That is why He is concealed from you, since He is entirely bestowing, while you are an egoist, a receiver. That is why you do not feel Him.

Does He really conceal Himself? It is you hiding Him and not wanting to recognize Him! You say, “If only You would give me egoistic pleasure, which I desire right now. Then I would get to know You. Do you want to give me pleasure by bestowal? Well, I want to enjoy by reception!”

And that is the entire problem. No one conceals the Creator from you. You are inside Him and there is none else besides Him! But look at what kind of world you perceive yourself in….

Canceling your ego does not mean canceling your desires. It’s only the negation of the egoistic intention for your own sake. I don’t need to limit myself in any way. I must only limit my egoistic intentions and increase my intentions “for the sake of bestowal.” We don’t touch the actual desire.

How To Experience Perfection

A One Man Show

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can we find the strength to advance because as time goes by we feel greater opposition and less strength?

Answer: That is wonderful! If you feel less and less energy, it is help from Above so you wouldn’t think that you can do anything at all. If you feel greater opposition, this is also help from Above so you would see that you will never be able to break through on your own.

This is help! Pharaoh, the Egyptian King, the ego, the evil inclination, is opposite to the Creator – the reverse side of Him. The Creator deliberately creates this image for you. Your entire nature, your egoism, is a reverse mold of the Creator. The Creator inserts Himself inside you and acts in a way that stops you. He does everything! There is none else besides Him.

When we say that “There is none else besides Him,” this does not mean that I exist and someone else exists opposite me. I also don’t exist! All the forces inside me that act for and against, that are good and evil, are all Him. And who am I? I am the point of discernment. I only discern what is for and what is against. From His two forms I discern with whom I desire to be.

The Creator is an actor that plays all the roles; he alternatively clothes into good and then into evil. It is how you play with a small child in different ways so he would learn to differentiate one thing from the other and understand what he should be like. He will learn about good only to the degree he attains evil.

Therefore, if you feel heaviness now, it’s the Creator who makes it happen. If you feel that you cannot do anything on your own, He gives you this sensation. Why? So you would turn to Him.

If I want to teach a small child that he has to turn to me for help, then I deliberately act in a way that prevents him from accomplishing something in order that he will need me. That is how we act in the relationships between us.

Suppose I want you to become my friend and to respect me. In that case I do something behind your back so you would feel that even though you do not desire it, you will not succeed without having a connection with me. You suddenly understand that I am great, that you have to respect me and ask me, and now you know that I am great and you depend on me. I have arranged your life so you are left with no other choice but to come to me and ask for it.

That is what the Creator does to us. Of course, He is not motivated by the egoistic intention to trick us, but the desire to teach us and raise us to His level, the best state, since He is called “Good who Does Good.” However, He acts precisely in this way, creating all kinds of misfortunes, problems, messes, and confusion constantly in the world, in all areas of life and in all the worlds so as a result you would desire to come to Him, to ask for help and this way to come closer to Him.

Then you will desire to become the same as Him. When you look at someone who is great, wise, or powerful, you desire to become the same. It’s not enough for you to just receive from Him; you want to be in His place. This is exactly what the Creator does to us.

The Bottomless Depth Of Malchut

One More Time About Mutual Inclusion

Dr. Michael Laitman1. Malchut and the first 9 Sefirot

The first 9 Sefirot are the properties of the Creator, and Malchut is the desire to receive pleasure with regard to the creature. How then can Malchut receive the Light at all? It can do so only due to the fact that all 9 Sefirot are included in it. Malchut absorbs all 9 Sefirot and becomes the 10th Sefira. In other words, the creature, Malchut, becomes like the Creator. All 9 Sefirot, His properties, enter Malchut. This is achieved by way of mutual inclusion.

2. Bina and Malchut

We study that all our work lies between Malchut and Bina. Malchut rises to Bina and is included in it. And then Bina descends into Malchut and includes itself in it. Due to this mutual integration of Bina and Malchut, we receive an opportunity to correct ourselves.

After all, Malchut, per se, is an egoistic desire to receive pleasure, whereas Bina is the desire to bestow. Thus, their mutual integration into each other brings the properties of the Creator to the creature.

To the degree that we ascend to Bina while desiring to become similar to the Creator, the Creator is able to descend to us and bring us to His properties.

The Creator Will Be The One Revealed In The Group

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If I feel my alienation from a friend, or perhaps a friend seems more distant from me, can I say that the same happens to me with respect to the Creator? What can I do in such a situation?

Answer: States can be different; therefore, if we are talking about one friend, the parallel with the Creator is possible, but not in all cases. Here there is something additional, which is how much I appreciate the group and the goal that we are revealing among friends. After all, the group, the purpose, and the Creator are one.

Only the group is the vessel, the desire (Kli,), while the Creator, the attribute of bestowal, is the Light that fills that desire, manifesting itself in the desire to the extent of their mutual equivalence. Eventually, the vessel and the Light become completely equivalent by achieving the property of mutual bestowal and unity; they will become inseparable.

Thus, one should attribute to the group even more importance than to the Creator. The group is a means, without which I cannot reach Him, and at this stage what is important to me is the means. Rabash gives an example of an unimportant government clerk from whom I depend more than from the entire government: While ministers are busy with state affairs, the clerk makes specific decisions about my case, either by approving or rejecting it.

The Group is a meeting of our little desires, striving to reveal the Creator, the attribute of bestowal. I must once and for all decide: I cannot turn to the Creator on my own. My message is carried out only in the group, and as for the Creator, I don’t know who He is, but He will be the one revealed inside it.

What Is Mutual Engagement?

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn essence, mutual engagement (mutual permeation – Hitkalelut) is the most profound act; and there is nothing to compare it with in value. This derives from the Plan of Creation. The Creator, the Upper Light, creates the will to receive pleasure, which aims solely at filling itself with absolutely everything that the Light contains. It is literally a slave to the Light for it experiences the latter as pleasure, life itself.

In such form, this desire cannot be called a created being yet for it has no autonomy and is completely dependent on the Light. Hence, as a creature, it doesn’t exist, similar to a shadow that cannot exist separately from a person or some object casting it.

But the Creator wishes for the creature to become autonomous, as He Himself is. For this, the creature needs to walk a very long path, much longer than the drop of semen undergoes before it turns into a living organism. After all, the creature is created as the shadow of the Light, as its imprint, its opposite. But gradually, under the influence of the Light, it begins evolving.

And all its further development in the process of the 4 stages of expansion of the Direct Light and appearance of the worlds of Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, Assiya, our world, the descent of the souls into the corporeal world and their ascent to the source takes place based on the mutual engagement of the desire and the Light. At the same time, the creature absorbs all of the properties of the Creator and becomes as He is.

Moreover, due to the fact that it acquires a more complex inner structure, it gets an opportunity to learn all the details of creation in all its depth. Thereby, the creature gets to know what the Creator has done in him. Learning itself is an offspring of the Upper Light and the created being gets to know the Creator. It is described as “From Your actions I shall know You.” And all of this is thanks to the act regarded as mutual engagement.

Don’t Reject Gifts And Be Prepared To Give

Dr. Michael LaitmanLove is not only bestowal but also reception. After all, everyone performs bestowal in relation to me, and I must receive. Otherwise, instead of love, hate will burst out. If I reject the gift of someone who loves me, it isn’t love anymore.

Question: What do I receive and what do I give?

Answer: Your willingness and nothing more. After all, we must create a connection similar to the Creator between us. If we exist in love, then according to the law of equivalence of form, the Upper Light is revealed between us.

You must prepare the Kli, which is a type of connection, nothing more. Then, the law of similarity steps in and within this connection, the Creator is revealed. It is enough to start desiring it, for you are the desire. By doing so, you are preparing the network, a correct connection between the parts of the system, and as a result the Creator breathes life into it.

A Line That Leads To The Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanIf the will to receive acts without restrictions, it is regarded as “a circle.” If the will to receive establishes the order of importance in relation to bestowal, the Creator above and itself below, then it is called a “line.” The circle is the fully corrected desire that has no restrictions because everything is corrected, or this is the state of desire before correction (without restrictions). This is why our world is regarded as round: The will to receive acts as it pleases.

Our work is to perform actions in a line. It means that, in the work related to the goal, I not only utilize all my qualities, but I also organize them correctly. This inner order is called the line that measures equivalence between the desire and the Light. In accordance with this equivalence, the will to receive can illuminate as the Light, and the Light is the appearance within the desire.

If there is no oil in the lamp, it will not light up. The wick is a kind of measure of the equivalence of the oil or wax to the flame. After all, nothing can start burning without the fueling matter. There has to be a vessel that contains the Light within itself. What the Light inside me is, I don’t know. The Light is the Kli (Vessel) that has equalized itself with the Creator. To the degree of this equivalence, it illuminates, and we call this phenomenon the Light.

So far, I am only matter, oil or wax, and there is no Light in me. However, if I become a wick, I will illuminate; I will feel the appearance of the Light within me. In order to equalize my qualities with the Creator’s, I must construct a line, and to accomplish this, I am given the group.

Building Myself

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe purpose of creation is to bring good to the Creator’s beings. The Creator is a good force that does good, and therefore, He gave us an opportunity to attain the most exalted state, to become similar to Him. We become equivalent with the Creator in two basic elements:

1. Independence. After all, the Creator is original, and man must be original in his actions; otherwise, he is not independent.

2. Bestowal. A person acquires the form of bestowal that must clothe in his nature opposite to the Creator. Thus, on the inside, man is opposite to the Creator, but on the outside, he is congruent to him.

By combining these two opposite properties within, a person builds his independence himself. Thereby, he doesn’t get out of the Creator’s hands, but grows independently. The rule of attaining independence is called the “covenant.”

This covenant means that I undertake building a human within me. The Creator provides all that is needed for it: a preparatory base, the fuel, desire of pleasures, the force of correction, and the power of fulfillment. I utilize these means. Contrary conditions emerge within me, a contrast between egoistic desire and the form of bestowal that I need to clothe in, and all of this together allows me to construct myself.

A person who accepts these conditions and aspires straight to the Creator is called “Israel.” He decides to attain adhesion and is willing to walk through all states and spiritual rungs. While he is at it, he understands that he must always walk with faith above reason; otherwise, he won’t be able to take one step, ascend, and approach the Creator.

Careful Steps Over The Dark Void

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Where does suffering come from? Am I causing it through my lack of equivalence to the Creator, or does He send it to us?

Answer: Definitely, all suffering is sent by the Creator since “there is none else but Him.” Humanity suffers on the path of its evolution, and the suffering is designated to develop the creatures on the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking levels so that they would come to need the correct fulfillment and well-being. In the end, one way or another, everyone feels a need due to the lack of a good, fulfilled state of existence.

All of this is necessary in order to complete the picture by correcting the breaking. After all, everything is caused by the lack of unity or absence of Light in the vessel. As soon as we begin correcting the Kli, the Creator becomes revealed to us, and then, following the speaking level, all of the other levels ascend, breaking free from misfortunes and problems.

We are being trained by the suffering sent from Above, until we start correcting ourselves. And there is no one to blame for this except the program of creation. Why then must we suffer on the path to love? Truth said, in the beginning the will to receive (desire) has to feel that it’s empty, and only then will it experience the fulfillment. Herein a question arises: If the Creator has prepared eternal pleasure for me, does it mean I must feel infinite suffering first? In that case, I’d rather remain a beast.

However, in reality, we start slowly and move forward in stages, time after time correcting and filling a new layer of our desire with Light. None of us would be able to bear the feeling of the dark infinite void. We are given the exact portion of what we can bear, going forth slowly and gently. This “feet dragging” is necessary precisely because we are unable to take a lot in at once. The breaking is being revealed to us drop by drop, according to our capacity.

Justify The Creator In Fact

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If I justify the Creator and accept everything as good, how am I going to know whether I have fallen into illusion and self-deception?

Answer: Justifying the Creator is not some unfounded declaration but the result of a whole series of actions. In its concluding stage, I appeal to the Creator with a request, and He fuses links all the details and causes of the previous experiences together.

The picture that I have started to detect amidst the blur and confusion is finally beginning to emerge, and it acquires clarity and interconnection. I reveal myself and the entire world as a group, and I reveal the Creator as the primary source.

And now, having attained this oneness, I see that everything had been done for my benefit and advanced me on the path. Thus, I justify the Creator not forcefully but “according to the results of examination” when I reveal the true status quo.
