Answer: Since it is a unified, integral, and global system, every part of it must take into account this law and comply with it in its actions. Every individual has to understand and absorb this system, feeling that he is responsible for establishing it to the extent that he has been given free will.

Freedom of choice is the part that I must independently establish in the system and advance in this manner until everyone, on their 125 rungs, discovers more and more of their own free will which is the measure of one’s free and compulsory participation in the system that one establishes from his part.

Question: What is the law of the system of Arvut (mutual guarantee)?

Answer: The law of this system is absolute reciprocity. This is how it is described in the Torah: “As one man with one heart.” This means that the one desire in the entire system, mutual bestowal, is realized in the adhesion with the Creator. The law is defined by the word “one,” as in “unity.”

It could be said that unity of “one” cannot be a law. But the definition of “one” contains many different properties connected with each other above hatred and rejection by relations of love and bestowal. This is the internal formula of the system: Qualities opposite in their nature are connected above this opposition by the law of equivalence of form.

This is the way our body and any integrated system are constructed. In order for such a system to exist, it must be built from the different forms and opposite parts over which there operates a universal law: existence for the sake of one unified purpose.

Question: Would it be correct to say that the first stage is the unification between us and the formation of a spiritual vessel (Kli), while the second stage is the mutual guarantee?

Answer: The mutual guarantee does not depend on us, but comes with the help of the Light. All the corrections and all the states are the result of the Light’s influence on the Reshimot (spiritual genes, reminiscences), but our readiness and desire for this to happen is for us to display.

I open the book so as to facilitate the formation of a common desire whose quality will be bestowal. The Creator will be revealed within this common desire to the extent that it will bestow in accordance with the law of equivalence of form with the Creator. I don’t need to draw the Creator for Him to be revealed within my desire. I don’t need to forcefully reveal Him. I simply need to worry about the desire assuming the form of bestowal, and then the Creator will manifest.

The law of equivalence of form already exists; it is the fundamental condition in nature. If this condition is met, the Creator becomes revealed. I only need to worry about my desires (Kelim, vessels). The Light is at absolute rest; we only lack the right desires, the qualities to perceive it.

Therefore, my only task is to desire correction. I don’t actually perform the correction either; I merely give the Light the opportunity to correct me. This is why we gather together and think of the Light correcting us, meaning the connection between us. We want the Light to correct the breaking that took place in our roots.

Then, because by thinking about this, we as though raise the Shechina (Divinity, our common soul) from the dust, we achieve spiritual revelation, the Creator, the Light of NaRaNHaY, which is 620 times greater than the original state before the breaking where there was only the Light of Nefesh.

The Zohar, Chapter “VeYechi (And Jacob Lived),” Item 733: “Jealousy is as harsh as the netherworld.” Any person who loves, and jealousy is not tied to it, his love is not love, since jealousy completes the love.

In the Kabbalisitic group, jealousy is expressed in my constant thinking about the others: Are they holding the correct intention? During the reading of The Book of Zohar, my only concern is Arvut (mutual guarantee).

I am very worried whether my friends remain in the same thoughts and intentions as I do and whether we nourish our Arvut together. If not, my efforts will be fruitless since everything gets revealed to me due to the collective effort of the group, in the connection between us. This connection is built by our common concern about each other.

Therefore, right now I am taking care of the network that connects us so that it wouldn’t break but will grow and mature. It is my chief concern. The Book of Zohar will bring me the desired revelation only if we establish the connection between us, and it is there that The Zohar will become revealed. We lack only a connecting network and nothing but that.

This network is what we concern ourselves with while reading The Book of Zohar, and it is regarded as nurturing Arvut (mutual guarantee).

The Creator cannot be known without the group. On the other hand, the group without the Creator is not a group but “a gathering of scoffers.” Therefore, I, the group, and the Creator are one whole. This is described as “Israel, the Torah, and the Creator are one.”

The Torah is the force that merges us into the group if we want to unite despite the resisting force. Hence, the giving of the Torah and Arvut (mutual guarantee) are connected. After all, Arvut per se is impossible. We don’t implement but rather demand its implementation. This is the “miracle of the exodus from Egypt.” We only participate in it, where the changes per se are not performed by our efforts, but are solely a result of our desire.

Our job is to wish for it as strongly as we can. Then, the Light comes. Meanwhile, we are already making “the golden calf” like in the times of the reception of the Torah. It happens, but we don’t forget to keep crying out loud either!

We must prepare and spill out the strongest demand that we possibly can. Just demand and don’t think about what will follow. What is needed is the collective, unified demand which will allow us to receive the force of unification. Then we let our egoism rise again in the next instant since this is the program of the system. It isn’t our concern.

Our concern is to demand correction of the egoism that is given to us right now, nothing more. A person is evaluated according to the current circumstances. We only need to fill ourselves to the utmost with the awareness of necessity and readiness to attack.

Baal HaSulam writes in his article “The Peace” that the society punishes man for taking something he is not entitled to, but there is no punishment for failing to give the society something he has to give. It is the same on the spiritual path: Every person receives his conditions from Above. Whoever has a desire that aims straight at the Creator realizes that the Creator is concealed inside the right interconnection between the souls. This connection develops in the group through two phases:

1. Ascent to the level of Bina, Hafetz Hesed, where a person feels like he is a messenger acting above knowledge.

First he attains the fact that he is ruled by egoism. How can he get out of this trap? He can do it with the help of an example that can only be received from the environment.

If a person accepts this example above his mind and feelings, this is called “above knowledge.” If he acts together with the group and contrary to himself, then he is making the right action, one that’s aimed at attaining and correcting the breaking. That is how one achieves spiritual ascent.

By adopting values from the environment instead of my own values, thoughts, and calculations, I evoke the influence of the Light upon myself because my actions correspond to the quality of the Light. Therefore I evoke the Light through the environment or through the system in which I restore unity.

That is how a vessel gradually forms inside me called “Hafetz Hesed” or “above knowledge.” As a result I use only the quality of bestowal, the force of bestowal, or the vessel of bestowal.

What does this mean? The mind and feeling are not mine. I replaced mine with those of the group and thus I am the friends’ messenger to the Creator. I accept and carry out everything they value.

It makes absolutely no difference to me what is inside the “package” and why it is being sent. I have just one concern: to reject myself and carry out their desire. That is how I ascend to the first level of mutual guarantee.

2. After that I desire to take a more active role that’s not limited by the functions of a messenger. I discover that I can become an intermediate link: not merely transmitting what I was given, but independently attracting and transmitting the Light.

This is the second phase – the return through love, above Bina. That’s when I reveal the illumination of Hochma and pass it on to others in the same net that I built on the level of Bina. I fulfill others with everything I am able to receive from them and then I begin to feel the goal of creation.

Through this work I attain the Creator and that there is none else besides Him. In the end I acquire the aspiration “straight toward the Creator” and become a guarantor for others.

Some time ago, a small group of people came out of ancient Babylon. They called themselves Isra-El due to their aspiration “straight to the Creator.” Then, 2,000 years ago, this group broke and mixed with all the nations that also once were Babylonians.

Now, due to the resulting mutual interpenetration over 2,000 years, everyone’s spiritual data has intermixed. A new group Isra-El (Yashar El, those who aspire towards the Creator) is appearing and beginning to form from the modern Babylon.

Now, this group has to realize the condition of the mutual guarantee (Arvut) among them. And if there are parts in it that do not carry out the mutual guarantee, they cause a great deal of harm to the connection of all the friends.

Because of these irresponsible people, the group referred to as Isra-El (which desires to reach the Creator, similarity to Him, and His revelation) is not able to accomplish it. We have to make sure that we do not have “viruses” like that in this group.

Question: I feel that my spiritual goal, my “child” is held hostage by others. How do I get it back?

Answer: You don’t need to get it back, but rather, you need to make sure that these people are loyal to you. God bless if you worry about it as if it’s your child. For instance, if your son were to end up in the hands of enemies, can you imagine what you would feel? After all, he is now among ruthless rivals, and harming him brings them tremendous pleasure.

Question cont.: And they are my friends?

Answer: Yes, they are. That’s why you call them friends. They are those with whom you must unify. In fact, if you were united as one whole already, you would feel that you are in the World of Infinity now. These are the initial rules, and it’s not worth trying to color the picture pink. Our egoism hides much more horrible aspirations.

Do you feel now how great your concern should be? Your offspring will remain in the hands of the enemies, and they will constantly look for the ways to harm him, but so that he wouldn’t die and only suffer more. Your only chance is to turn their hate into love. Hence, you must worry only about how to make them your friends and get them to love you.

Think how to achieve this. In the group, this concern has to be present and felt. Instill it in each other; ask for it during your studying because a prayer during the reading of Kabbalistic texts is the most effective.

It’s time we understand that we are doomed. Everyone is sitting on the hole he has drilled in the common boat and is barely holding on to cover this hole. Every minute, here and there a new leak opens, and try as we might, we are still sinking.

There is no way to advance toward the goal like this. I have to realize that I depend on all the others and visualize this dependence. If I don’t try to “edit” the picture, it will look horrible, but this is what will prompt me forth for sure. “Exodus from Egypt” lies essentially in the revelation of our total dependence on one another. We can’t remain in our egoism anymore.

After all, everyone holds a tube with the intravenous infusion for the others in their hands and doesn’t want to turn it on. That’s why everyone lives on a tiny illumination (Kista de Hayuta), in hopes for authentic life.

My life is at stake! Except existence in this world that will soon expire, I have nothing, till I make the friends to turn the IV on. I simply need the healing fusion, the Light that flows through my soul and gives it the sensation of spiritual life.

However, my friends don’t let the Light flow. What do I do then? Wake them up and inspire them to open these channels. If I succeed, I will live; if not, I’ll die. And this is what we must do all together.
