Today, people are increasingly worried about their well-being. Essentially, every person in the world can be provided with all that he or she needs, but we are unable to accomplish this. Even the richest and most powerful people don’t feel absolute security and fulfillment that can be accomplished by the collective love: mutual guarantee. It will be possible only if we take care of each other.

Humanity thought that material wealth would satisfy it, but the American dream, the society of consumers, has ruined itself. We have reached the need to change our attitude to life. The sensation of goodness, peacefulness, and completeness is not defined by how much I own. We can’t be satisfied with any fulfillment.

True contentment will become possible only when the Light starts flowing between us. But to achieve this, we have to open the way for it through our mutual caring for each other. While thinking about others, I unblock the system, thanks to which contentment will definitely fill them and me. We need this contentment to realize Arvut (mutual guarantee) so we may start worrying about how to fill the Creator.

At first, we think that our exerted efforts will simply result in our feeling good. And only when everyone starts truly thinking about everybody else, annulling individual egoism, then our intention will switch to altruism. Thus, from Lo Lishma, we arrive at Lishma, in the measure of our realization of mutual guarantee.

Question: How do I give guarantee to the group? What do I need to care for?

Answer: You care for the friends, eager to give them a feeling of confidence. In all of reality there isn’t any lack except for our desire aimed at the mutual interconnectedness.

The Light is willing to fill all of us, but we stand in its way. I don’t think about you; I even hate you, thereby blocking the channel through which the Light has to come to you. It turns out that your problems exist because of me and alike: I don’t allow infinite abundance to reach you.

This, in fact, is the broken system. The Creator created the World of Infinity, all souls, and the channels between them and entrusted us with these channels. But I, with my hatred, block all the channels for everybody. And so does each of us.

Now, the Kabbalists say, the time has come when we must, together, open the channels to the flow of the Light. Thanks to the collective effort, the Light will start spouting in them again, and everyone will realize that he doesn’t feel any lack. This is the law of the closed system of nature. And we, in our world, feel its negative effect more and more.

There is no choice: The channels connecting us were blocked from Above, and we must break through these plugs with the individual effort. After all, these channels represent our egoism, despite which I wish to expand the plugged-off channel. By exerting effort, I draw the Light and allow it to work, flow in the channels in a thin stream, and revive the entire system.

7. If in the group everybody thinks about all the others, the group becomes a perfect system that exists in the state of Arvut (mutual guarantee) or one soul. All the friends rise above their desires and enter a unified interconnection between them, thereby becoming guarantors in bestowal to each other.

Each person detached his “point in the heart” from his egoism and connected it with the “points in the hearts” of the others. Thus, the desires remained “below,” and the connection occurs between the “points in the heart.” In such connection of mutual bestowal, there act essentially different, altruistic laws. A new world opens its doors before a person.

8. Once a person has risen above his egoism, correction of his connection with the others begins by means of the previously rejected desire. At first it happens in “bestowal for the sake of bestowal” and then in “reception for the sake of bestowal.” All relationships are carried out solely to delight the Creator. This collective spirit that is present among the friends manifests in everyone; they are now able to detect and aim their intention solely at it.

There appears a sensation of interaction neither with oneself nor with the others, but with the unified whole. The relationship with the Creator Who is being revealed in the unified whole emerges from this unity.

Question: Is there a difference in the efforts that I’m required to apply when I fulfill the conditions of the mutual guarantee for the first time and when it happens for the second time?

Answer: The difference is in a sensation of a lack, in that I now intend to achieve the second degree on the basis of the first. The first degree stays in me as a Reshimo (internal record, imprint), a state that I have experienced but could not preserve because of an additional desire to receive. I must now overcome this additional desire in order to attain the next degree. The previous degree helps me to reach the next one.

These are not degrees of a descent, but those of an ascent. In other words, even if I fall, I understand why I have fallen and know what I have to do. Based on my own experience I already know how I managed to reach the state of a mutual guarantee on the first degree, and now I am going to do the same on the following degree.

This is called “a person’s soul teaches him,” meaning that I have gained experience and I know what to do. It is clear to me now that my descents are not states where I simply lose myself. I realize that I am in a descent now and that I lack strength (contact with the Creator).

It is already a realization that I am in darkness, that I have lost touch with the Creator. In other words, the point of awareness of or contact with spirituality is preserved, and that is very important. Now I begin my work from that point instead of a state completely detached from spirituality.

Expressed differently, you do not lose your previous level due to a “sin”; rather, you fall from the first degree because you have been given a desire of a second, higher degree. The magnitude of the uncorrected desire of the second degree, the sin that is being revealed to you now, overshadows the corrected degree, although the first degree stays inside the second in the corrected form.

It is actually an ascent, and not a fall; you have achieved the first degree and have now revealed the second degree, its opposite side. In the AHP of the Upper One, you feel yourself as “fallen,” a “sinner.” However, it is the way you define yourself from the perspective of the corrected first degree.

It exemplifies the saying “a person’s soul teaches him” because I already have a soul. Indeed, the first degree is my soul. Afterward, I will develop a soul of a magnitude that corresponds to the second degree, then the third, and so on.

Each time higher degrees will be emerging inside me; they will conceal the previous degrees to a greater extent, but I will always have the strength, the connection to the Light in order to ascend. I always discern each subsequent degree of an ascent based on the degree which I have already achieved. It means that I will have an opportunity to correctly diagnose what is happening to me and how to draw the Light that Reforms.

My state doesn’t resemble anything more than that of an unconsciousness patient because I am constantly equipped with the force of the mutual guarantee. I already signed its conditions, I am observing them, and I’m in a state in which I do not lose it, although from a personal perspective it may still happen. And then I suddenly realize that I am “drilling a hole in the boat.”

I have not yet drilled it all the way, I have just started, but in a moment it will be complete, and at that precise instant it begins to dawn on me. This is the revelation of egoism of the next degree. However, the previous degree, the bond between friends, remains inside me and is called “one is elevated in sanctity, and never lowered in sanctity.”

Therefore, Baal HaSulam writes that the real stumbling block is attaining the first degree. Until it happens a person feels completely confused.

Question: Can I break through the external decorations and connect to the points in the hearts of my friends, to their internal emptiness, which they themselves may not yet feel?

Answer: Yes! Begin to use the force of the mutual guarantee because the system is already there. If a person manages to open it even for an instant, it is his success!

The same system exists between us and the Creator, but it does not allow us to reach Him. Upon addressing the Creator, we do not have the opportunity to “rollback”: The minimal threshold of entering the system rises to the measure that we open it. For example, I manifest 10% of it, so now there is no way back, only forward because the Creator is constant, and the contact with Him can only be built on an ongoing basis. If I raise the measurement to 15%, this becomes my minimum.

This is why for now we can “play” the mutual guarantee not in relation to the Creator, but only in relation to the group where there are no problems with ascents and descents and where it is not necessary for us to be constant. In this, the system of souls differs from the Creator Himself. He is present in it, but by concealing Himself within the group, He allows me to “romp about” in the meantime, jumping up and down while all the same moving forward. And when I reach a constant direction only to Him, He will reveal Himself to me.

1. The key is to keep in mind that between us (the souls) there is an eternal system of connection. Initially we are unified, and each of us is indebted to the other. There is no freedom in this, because we are initially interconnected and interdependent. Moreover, this holds true not only for Israel, but for the entire world.

2. If we wish to ascend to the spiritual degree of the revelation of the Creator, we must learn the law of connection working in this network and implement it.

3. “Israel” is a small group that decided to learn the law of connection by having aimed straight to the Creator. The name “Yisrael” means “Yashar-El” or directly to the Creator. In Abraham’s time, it was a group of Babylonians who left the general mainstream of development, by separating and distancing themselves from its ideological views.

Today it is not the nation of Israel, but a part of humanity (the modern Babylon) reaching the same decision. Ultimately, all of humanity will join this goal.

4. The main rule in attaining the Creator is the condition of mutual group guarantee (Arvut). We must truly agree to meet it by way of the process called “We shall do, and we shall hear.” We will do everything in our power to do, and consequently, we will “hear” or reach the state of guarantee.

Having met this condition, we uncover the correct connection between us all and become “as one man with one heart.” Finally, the Torah, the method of correction of human nature (egoism), becomes revealed to us.

5. Essentially, Arvut (mutual guarantee) is a very simple thing: I receive from the influence of the group such a strong feeling of certainty and security that I stop thinking about myself completely. If I were a king, I would have money, healers, and an army at my disposal, but none of it would give me such assurance. However, thanks to the total interconnectedness of souls, a person’s desire is assured to be fulfilled and at rest if everyone is thinking about its fulfillment.

6. Wealth and power are useless here; besides, the fellow-guarantors do not have anything to fill me with. And yet, with the collective thought and caring, the friends will open the channels for the Light, and it will flow to me through them.

My soul’s desire will feel satiated; it will stop fearing emptiness and demanding fulfillment, giving me an opportunity to rise above it and to start bestowing to the others without thinking about myself. Hence, aspiring to the Creator is a required pre-condition, and aspiring to the friends is needed as the condition for attaining the Creator.

Question: What is the difference between caring for a person from this small circle of people with whom I have signed the conditions of the mutual guarantee and caring for other people?

Answer: They are not consciously in the system of the arrangement.

Question cont.: Does this mean that I should not care for them?

Answer: You must care for everyone in the world, but they will receive this coverage to the degree of their aspiration for the mutual guarantee, according to the degree of their correction.

Question cont.: How will you make sure that they do not lack anything?

Answer: You need to make sure that the Light passes through the group to the entire world. The Light will spout through every channel and direct them to the purpose of creation. Then, deficiencies will become revealed to them, but this will happen softly. They will discover the existence of the medicine for their problems, will take it, and heal.

Question: It is written that when 600,000 people will have no other business in life but guarding the fulfillment of my needs, then I will be satisfied. When it says that “they will have no other business in life,” it confuses me.

Answer: There is nothing else with which to concern ourselves. We should only be concerned with every person having an opportunity to rise above his ego.

Question cont.: I can list a great deal of things which are still necessary.

Answer: No, I only want to free myself of obstacles in order to give myself to thoughts about unity so as to reveal the Creator in them.

Question cont.: What about taking care of yourself, work, and family?

Answer: We are speaking about those who strive to reach the mutual guarantee. This means that you only want to care for unity, where the Creator is to be revealed. So, we pledge to provide you with peace if these worries interfere with your work on the mutual guarantee.

In our world, humanity gradually advances from the animate (natural, human) level to the “human” (spiritual, Adam or “similar to the Creator”) level. That is, beside the desire for sustenance, sex, family, wealth, fame, and knowledge, the desire for spirituality, the yearning to attain the purpose of life and its source, awakens in the collective system of souls, in people.

This desire awakens in stages, step by step, since the collective soul consists of various parts: Rosh (head), Toch (body), Sof (end), the three lines, HBD (Hochma, Bina, Da’at), HGT (Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet), NHY (Netzah, Hod, Yesod), 10 Sefirot, GE (Galgalta ve Eynaim), AHP (Awzen, Hotem, Peh), and so forth. Obviously, not all parts are the same. There are differences in their Aviut (thickness or coarseness of the will to receive): Shoresh (0), Aleph (1), Bet (2), Gimel (3), and Dalet (4). There are also differences in how they work with the will to receive: without a screen, with a screen, before the breaking, or after it.

After the breaking, desires fell from the level of bestowal to that of reception, mixed among themselves, and are awakening to correction gradually from the souls with the lightest desires to those which are heavy in their desires. The souls with a relatively small will to receive started to awaken as early as in the times of Babylon.

Then, for the first time, an awakening of the masses occurred; those who recognized within them the desire to attain spirituality are regarded as “Isra-El” (aspiring to the Creator). Abraham collected them and organized the first group. He taught them his quality, “Hesed” (Mercy).

But their desires were weak, and hence, the correcting device, the Torah, the method of drawing of the Upper Light that Reforms, wasn’t necessary. Their own strife was sufficient to draw the Light that Reforms without using the help of the entire system of connection between us, which is called “the Torah.”

Clearly, all corrections are made solely with the help of the Light, but the weak Aviut that the “forefathers” possessed during the period of time between ancient Babylon and Egypt allowed them to reveal spirituality and correct themselves naturally. But after “Egypt,” the souls have acquired greater egoism, the will to receive, and they became separated by hatred as enormous as Mount Sinai. On one hand, they hated each other, but on the other, they had already attained the recognition of evil, hated their exile from spirituality, and were eager to break free.

The key is in the magnitude of the desire, the revelation of egoism. To counteract the ego unfolding during the exodus from Egypt, the souls have to connect with the force regarded as “six thousand souls.” And only when they are eager to unite in this manner, having accepted the rule of Arvut (mutual guarantee), the Light that brings them back to the source, the Creator, gets revealed. This is called “the reception of the Torah.”

Question: At the Kabbalah Convention 2009 we were able to reach a special sensation that you referred to as a “drop of unity.” What did we attain then and how can we complete it at the big, upcoming convention?

Answer: At the Convention last year we felt that there was a special point in the unity between us, which did not depend on us and was above everyone. And if we were to connect between us, we would be able to depend on it, strive toward it, unite around it, and be protected by it. This “drop of unity” is a high force created by the connection between us, which protects us from all ills.

But this is not enough. In this drop, we connect our spiritual sparks into one spark. If we were to connect our desires to bestow, the mutual guarantee, to this common spark, we would begin to reveal the connection between the sparks that are glued together; that is, we would start to discover the system of connection of our souls. Every connection between the sparks is a relationship of mutual hatred and love above it.

In the first case, we connect our sparks (the points in the heart) into one big spark, and then we attain what a high state this is, meaning a state that exists by itself, a certain reality outside of us. We have created something new that was produced through the connection between us.

However, if you were to add a little bit of desire to it, then not just all these points in the heart connect into this spark, but also all the egos between them become revealed, meaning the entire hatred, and love above it. In other words, a net of connections between us becomes revealed, and we can perceive spirituality, the Creator, in this connection.

This means that you sign the mutual guarantee on the basis of the revelation of your desires, meaning that besides the point in the heart, there is the revelation of evil in them and the consent to be above it. After all, this net is built with our desires which we renounce by connecting above them and replacing hatred with love.

How will I be able to connect with others otherwise? It is not enough to simply connect into one spark; this is not a real connection because we have left the entire ego below. Meanwhile, I must rise above it, above Mount Sinai (the mount of hatred).
