A Proposed Fine For Politicians And Bureaucrats Who Use The Word “Crisis”

laitman_2008-11-14_7040Artūras Zuokas, the former mayor of Vilnius and current leader of the Liberal Union, has proposed to penalize politicians for using the word “crisis” in their public speeches.

“Today the main crisis lies in the heads of government politicians and bureaucrats. The crisis is proof positive of our own helplessness and hopelessness. That is why we must change the term ‘crisis’ to ‘challenge.’”

My Comment: He is absolutely right – it is a challenge for us, to our egoism and reason. We must understand the reason for this “challenge” and remove it by correcting our connection with Nature and expressing it in our attitude toward one another. The crisis or the “challenge” is a demonstration of our imbalance with the general law of Nature, of which we are integral parts and with which we must act in complete accord and harmony.

“The Crisis Will Cleanse Us,” Says Russia’s Chief Auditor

laitman_2009-05-xx_ny_5084In the News: (from The Alinga Consulting Group): “Crisis To Cleanse Russian Society, Says Country’s Chief Auditor” The Current economic and financial crisis will cleanse Russian society and will help create “an economy of happiness,” Sergei Stepashin, the chairman of the Audit Chamber says in an interview published by the Moscow-based Nezavissimaya Gazeta daily Wednesday. “I’m sure we’ll create an economy of the future, an economy of happiness for our people after we go through the cleansing with the aid of this crisis,” Stepashin says. He sees “a loss of connection” between business and morality as a major root-cause of the crisis. “We’ll get out of the crisis when we tie up economic activity to morals and business, to morality,” Stepashin says.

My Comment: Overall, he is right. But what do we have to do in order to attain the bright future about which he speaks? Kabbalah says that the only thing we have to do is to change man’s nature, which is something that can only be done by means of the force that created man.

The force that reforms human nature can only be attracted using a special method – Kabbalah. This is why the science of Kabbalah is known as “The work of God” – because it gives us the opportunity to draw the force of the Creator (Nature’s Upper Force) that will correct us. This is the only way we can succeed!

Michael Moore On The Cause Of The Economic Meltdown

In the News (from Reuters): “Filmmaker Michael Moore targeting economic crisis” Firebrand filmmaker Michael Moore, who targeted the Bush administration in “Fahrenheit 9/11” and the health care industry in “Sicko,” is now focusing on the global economic meltdown. The Oscar-winning director will release his as-yet-untitled documentary across North America on October 2, 2009.

“The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn’t have enough wealth,” the statement quoted Moore as saying. “They wanted more – a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie.”

My Comment: This offers further support for the fact that egoism brings the world to crisis, instead of causing progress the way it did in the past. Therefore, we should fight egoism instead of encouraging it as we used to.

People are now connected together inside a “small village,” and therefore every person should desire, think and act in ways that are beneficial for the whole of society, not just himself. And while Mr. Moore explains the cause of the crisis, he does not have the answer to it – but Kabbalah does.

The Financial Crisis May Leave Americans Without Pensions

In the News (from CNN): “Pension guarantor: unprecedented deficit” The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., which guarantees private pension payments for 44 million Americans, said on Wednesday that it faces a massive, unprecedented deficit.

My Comment: It looks like we will have to build a new society from scratch. People will spend all the existing funds, and only when there isn’t anything left to spend will they stop and think about what is happening.

There is no means in our world to correct the current crisis! That’s because we were created by the Upper Force (the Creator, the force of altruism) and It endowed us with an egoistic nature. The Creator is waiting for us to desire to change our nature, and as soon as we desire this, He will change us.

Kabbalah teaches us how we can reach this recognition –  and the solution to the crisis – sooner.

We Can Learn A Lot From An International “Hate Your Children Day”

laitman_2009-02-02_9629_wThe world recently celebrated International Earth Day. Maybe people should organize an international day when they will attempt to hate, lie and use their children the same way they hate, deceive, and exploit others. This will help people realize how much they have to change, and at the same time, that it is impossible for them to change on their own.

Then, the strategies currently used by the G-20 leaders for coming out of the crisis will not be necessary anymore. People will stop attempting to carry out these plans because they will realize that they only worsen the situation. People will then understand that they are at a point of no return and they cannot come out of the situation using the old tactics. However, they also don’t have a new method to replace the old one.

If people will understand the reason for the current crisis, they will stop causing more suffering to themselves. That is to say, they will stop eliciting a negative reaction from Nature. But if people won’t realize that the cause of the world’s present condition is man’s egoistic nature, they will remain in this predicament.

Furthermore, people will have to realize  that they are unable to correct their nature, because the correction can only happen by using the Upper Force. Otherwise, as Baal HaSulam explains in Item 70 of “The Introduction to the Book of Zohar,” our suffering will get even worse.

Any Excess We Consume Is Harmful

Everything on the inanimate, vegetative and animate levels of nature exists in balance, because they consume only as much as they need to exist. However, human nature is different. A person is willing to consume the entire world just to feel the slightest pleasure, even if he doesn’t need that pleasure in order to exist. By acting this way, we upset all of Nature’s balance.

Man is the only unbalanced element in all of Nature. People take much more than they need from Nature, and this is unhealthy for us as well, because any excess we consume is harmful. But moreover, by disturbing our balance with the entire system of Nature, we cause a crisis in all of Nature. This means that we are the only ones causing all the hurricanes, tsunamis, and global warming, by taking more than we need from Nature.

It is not the amount we take that is important, but whether we take it out of a true necessity. If we needed more resources from Nature in order to survive, then we would be able to take even more than we presently do without causing any imbalance in Nature, because we would be consuming out of a true need. We should use everything we receive from Nature in order to preserve balance and to let every person maintain a normal, generally-accepted lifestyle.

However, each of us wants more than the necessary, and this is why we disrupt the balance with Nature. Nature’s levels are structured as a pyramid, and the next blow that will come at us will happen on the inanimate level, rather than the animate or vegetative levels. We should watch out for ecological problems and blows on the still level of the pyramid (fire, air, water, and soil).

However, there is a way to avert these blows: as soon as we begin to consume only as much as we need to survive, we will bring the whole pyramid into balance. Everything will normalize, and we will receive a positive response from all parts of Nature.

There Is A Purpose To The Turbulence In Our Lives

We are in a unique predicament today: Nature is showing us that we are separated and hate each other, and that our egoism is destructive. Yet It is also showing us that we depend on each other on the global level and are connected together against our will.

We have nowhere to run from each other. We are being compelled to obey Nature’s law, and it is Nature that is compelling us, rather than artificial conditions made by man. If we don’t follow this law, we will be in even greater conflict with Nature, putting ourselves at risk of greater blows and suffering, even extinction. And all of this will happen because of our egoism.

We are in a state of expulsion from Nature. Is there anything that could liberate us from this state? There is: our salvation lies in creating the correct connection among us and with the Nature around us. This will give us the opportunity to become an integral, harmonious part of It.

It is imperative that each of us will feel and understand that our survival – our food, water, climate, health, psychological and spiritual condition, and everything else – depends exclusively on our harmony with Nature. In fact, this is the purpose of the turbulence in our lives. All the situations, incidents and states that we go through are intended to help us reveal the inner, driving force – the Creator. The troubles and stress are what enable us to learn to sense Him and to start to see that He is the reason behind everything.

This is why the crises come in waves. Their goal is to reveal that the hatred between us is the reason for all the bad things in the world. We will then see that this hatred is tantamount to an expulsion from perfection, and that rising above the hatred will liberate us from the expulsion.

The Difference Between This Crisis And The Previous Ones

A question I received: What is a regular crisis, and how does the current crisis differ from previous ones?

My Answer: A regular, classic crisis is caused by overproduction, where a decrease in demand causes a decrease in production, which results in a rise of unemployment and decrease in income. This in turn causes further decrease in demand. One thing leads to another until this downward spiral contracts to a point.

The current crisis is different because it was not caused by overproduction, but by the revelation of our global egoism. We have reached the ceiling of our individual egoistic development, and the only way we can develop from here on is by improving the connection between us, rather than by advancing individually.

Let’s Attain Correction Before War

laitman_2009-03_8163In the News (translated from VZ): History shows that when the capital of banks and industry merge, global wars occur. We don’t yet understand whether the world financial crisis will necessarily give rise to a new world war. However, historians have already warned us of this possibility.

The world’s politicians are forced to acknowledge that they don’t know what is the cause of the current crisis. Humanity’s main problem is that it does not know where it is going. We are starting to understand that it’s necessary to make a breakthrough in our consciousness.

My Comment: Conclusions such as this give me hope that Kabbalah’s suggestions will be heard. Otherwise, we will suffer a third and even fourth world wars, and only the small fraction of humanity that will remain alive will reach the goal – adhesion with Nature or the Creator.

This Crisis Is Different Than Anything We Have Seen Before

We are living in a special time, because our uncorrected spiritual state is being revealed through the uncorrected connections between people. This uncorrected form is being revealed on purpose, so we will correct it.

All the previous crises were meant to increase our egoism, whereas the current crisis is revealing that our own egoism is destroying us. In all the previous phases of our development, we continued to think that egoism would bring about greater development. Even fifty years ago in America, everyone saw themselves as the generation that will make progress, attain prosperity and achieve greater consumption. But today all of this egoism and consumption have ended.

For the first time, we are revealing that our egoism is destructive. Everyone is arriving at the same conclusion, because this is how our shattered spiritual state is being revealed. The entire world of yesterday, which was founded on egoism, egoistic advancement and exploitation, is no more.

But the crisis continues, and it will not stop. The blows will keep coming one after another, until we reveal their purpose, discover the medicine and agree to take it.
