The Tricks Of Egoism

509Question: How can one rise above hatred in faith above reason?

Answer: You must understand that all it is all what your egoism is building for you, it is deliberately playing with you, purposefully mocking you, and at the same time, in a friendly way telling you where to ask for help from the Creator.

Question: What can I do if hatred blinds me?

Answer: Do nothing! There are various tricks: wait for it to pass, sit with friends, disconnect from it, have a meal together, and so on.

Question: If a friend treats me as good that does good and I see everything the other way around, what should I do?

Answer: Correct yourself! But it is even better to ask the Creator to correct you. It is time for you to understand that all disturbances that we see in ourselves require an immediate plea to the Creator to correct us.

A Single Problem

961.2We have a single problem. We think that we can make corrections in ourselves with our mind. But corrections are made not with the help of your mind, but with the help of the upper light. That is, we have to annul ourselves before the upper light like a baby lying in his mother’s arms and allowing her to do whatever is necessary according to her understanding.

Our entire work is exactly this, annulling ourselves before the group and before the Creator so that He makes of us what He needs, what the upper wants, and what He considers right.

I do not calculate exactly how to annul myself or dictate to the Creator how to correct me, but I simply completely annul myself as much as possible. Then the reforming light will perform all sorts of corrections within me.

Therefore, I am not trying to build a connection between the friends by myself, but I annul myself and thereby give the Creator the opportunity to create this connection between us.

This connection should be the work of the Creator and not of my mind. The entire correction is done from above, and the only thing that is required of us is to annul ourselves. Annul your logic and everything will work out. The mind is given to us only for one purpose, so that we have the mind to annul before the upper one.

Move Aside, Make Place For The Creator

232.07Do you want there to be a place for the Creator? Then move aside! Move aside a little, make room for Him! This is called restricting oneself.

Remove your egoism, restrict it, squash it, and give place to the other. We need to shrink to such an extent that we all fit together in the one central point of the entire universe. And the whole vast sphere around us, freed from our egoism, will become the place we give to the Creator. That is why the Creator is called “a place.”

To the extent we move away from our egoism, which itself was occupying this place, we are making room for the Creator.

We restrict all our egos into one point about which the Creator said: “I have created the evil inclination.” In fact, He has created nothing but this point in which we exist. Everything else, except for it, are the qualities of the Creator.

We free this entire area from our egoism except for the most central point, and in this whole space we adhere to the Creator. It was us who brought the Creator there and revealed Him there. That is, we are crowning Him, placing Him as the king over us, to rule over this entire area, and we give Him a place to be revealed and control all of us in the entire reality.

The Work Of The Creator

557Question: The more we create an empty space between us, the more the Creator is ready to fill it. Is what attracts Him the joy of our desire. Does he want to help us rise up the degrees? Is this how we become His partners?

Answer: Yes, but we must also add that it is not we who create the empty space between us, He does, and He fills it.

The Creator does everything that is necessary for us to realize the nature of this space and to understand what to do based on the feeling of emptiness. Thus, He pushes us to realize the distance between us, to what we need to correct.

Question: The Creator has two favorite games: hide and seek and playing catch. How can all this be used for the benefit of the group?

Answer: So play these games. You are right, the Creator either approaches or moves away. And you act accordingly. Learn from Him how He works, and thus act for yourself.

Learn From Friends

938.03Question: What is “friend,” (“Haver” – in Hebrew)? This word has a great semantic weight.

Answer: “Haver,” from the word “Chibur,” means connection. With whom I am united with toward the goal of creation, he is called “Haver,” friend.

Question: How can we learn to distinguish the good qualities of friends who are for the good of the Creator from those who are not for His good?

Answer: All the properties you can cling to your friends with are all for the good of the Creator and all these are spiritual properties. All the rest are not.

Question: Rabash’s article “Concerning Above Reason” says: “…while he sees the merits of the friends. At that time, it is relevant to say that he should learn from their actions.” What does “their actions” mean?

Answer: A person wants to learn actions from his friends and considers their actions to be spiritual. If he evaluates them in this way and tries to become like them, then he really corrects himself and becomes spiritual himself.

The House Of The Creator

933Question: Does being in the morning lesson mean coming to the house of the Creator?

Answer: No. It is just being in some kind of mechanical connection.

The house of the Creator is the Kli (vessel) that is assembled from various egoistic parts that want to be connected together so that the Creator reveals Himself in them. Then this Kli can be called the house of the Creator.

The Key Is Acceleration

41.01Question: When a situation occurs, I know that the Creator sends it for my good. I consciously react for the benefit of my friends, but there is a part of me that is hurt by this. Am I doing the right thing?

Answer: You must understand that it will always give you pain in order to make it clear where you still are. The spiritual Partzuf constantly is in contradictory properties.

There is an egoistic desire in Malchut. Due to the impact on Malchut of the upper light from the first nine Sefirot, it can divide itself into the part with which it relates to the first nine Sefirot (the properties of bestowal) and into the part that it cannot attribute to these properties. Thus, it is divided into two parts.

The part that relates itself to the properties of bestowal is the corrected part in Malchut. And the part that is under the restriction (Tzimtzum), we have no right to use. Although we would like to do this, we refuse because the use would be for its own sake. This is how we operate.

This contradiction always exists in man. It is this that gives him the opportunity to measure and understand where he is, at what stage, in what state. We cannot have the experience of only light or only darkness. This is the way out of all sensations. Either full light or full darkness is the same thing. A vessel (Kli) is a desire that can graduate, measure, and weigh itself.

So don’t worry, go ahead. We do not need to think at all about the states we are in. The main thing for us is to quickly realize all these states, process them in ourselves, and move on from one to another. That’s all. The main thing is acceleration.

How To Reach Love Of The Creator

544Rabash, Article 6 (1984), “Love of Friends – 2”:By each joining the society and annulling oneself before it, they become one body.

For example, if there are ten people in that body, it has ten times more power (when united) than a single person does. However, there is a condition: When they gather, each of them should think that he has now come for the purpose of annulling self-love. It means that he will not consider how to satisfy his will to receive now, but will think as much as possible only of the love of others (about uniting with and filling the friend). This is the only way to acquire the desire and the need to acquire a new quality, called “the will to bestow.”

And from love of friends one can reach love of the Creator, meaning wanting to give contentment to the Creator.

Look how many colors there are in this passage.

By annulling oneself in front of the group, each one forms a group, a single whole.

In this unified whole, each one has ten times more strength than he has alone.

Imagine if you had ten times more spiritual powers, the qualities of bestowal, than you do now, you would have had already jumped into the upper world.

Just imagine, if I get incorporated in others and take from each of them literally a grain of what is in them of the desire for spirituality that the Creator planted in them, and I annul before them, I already have ten such parts—I immediately find myself in the spiritual world, rise above myself, above egoism. I have the strength for this; I got it from my friends.

Therefore, if this whole (group) consists of ten people, then each of us has ten times more strength than each one individually.

However, there is a condition: When they gather, each of them should think that he has now come for the purpose of annulling self-love. It means that he will not consider how to satisfy his will to receive now, but will think as much as possible only of the love of others. This is the only way to acquire the desire and the need to acquire a new quality, called “the will to bestow.”

However, there is a condition: When they gather, each of them should think that he has now come for the purpose of annulling self-love (the abolition of selfishness). It means that he will not consider (think about) how to satisfy his will to receive now (their own egoistic desires), but will think as much as possible only of the love of others (only about the possibility of bestowing to one’s neighbor).

This is practically the realization of love—to give to another. This is the only way to acquire the desire and the need to acquire a new quality, called “the will to bestow.”

By including oneself in others and trying to somehow connect with them enough to wish to give to them, I acquire a new quality, the desire to bestow. So from the love of friends, we come to the love of the Creator.

The Creator is the final common goal, the sum of all our relationships to each other. And if I want to give to the whole group, then I begin to feel that my attitude toward them is love for the Creator.
