Talks about the Steps of the Ladder, Part 151
Why Is It Written That We Must Pray in a Clear Language?
It means that the scrutinies we make in our desire must be clear and understandable to us. Of course, it is not because the Creator does not understand the prayer, as if He were hard of hearing or does not understand Hebrew, and so we need to say the prayer word by word, letter by letter, with special pronunciation.
“Clear language” means that our desire must be clarified to such an extent that it will truly be considered a prayer. We do not need to verify this against the Creator, but against ourselves. This is because every degree that we fully scrutinize immediately transforms into a higher degree. We will remain on a certain degree as long as we have not completely clarified it, as long as we do not yet deeply recognize our own desire.
