Kabbalah Is the Language of Feelings

275Question: How should we deal with a reluctance to study “The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah” (“Pticha“)?

Answer: Just as in our world there are scientists and poets, those who favor humanities or technology, the same applies in Kabbalah. Some people are emotional by nature.

They come to the wisdom of Kabbalah, and for them the connection with the Creator is expressed through more emotional texts, expressions, possibly songs, dance, and certain sensations.

And then there are people who approach the world technically. They need a blueprint: draw it for them, and they will understand. Or they want everything to be strictly structured and systematized, and so on.

That is why it is so important for us to study both aspects. Over time a person will naturally lean toward their own specialization. In every group, there will be those who are more emotional and those who are more practical, but we all need to follow a common path.

The common path is the one given to us by the ARI and Baal HaSulam. You look at the diagrams and see not just a graphic representation, but a representation of feelings.

I can sketch some squiggle, and instead of talking about it for ten minutes, you just look at it and it becomes clear what it is about, just like we convey our feelings through words.

In essence, all of Kabbalah is a language of feelings because the foundation of creation is desire.
