What Happens After The Final Correction?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What is the purpose of creation? Is it to become an independent Kli (vessel), which receives pleasure from the Creator? Or is there some other purpose?

Answer: The purpose of all corrections is to unite with the Creator into a single system. I am the Kli, He is the Light, and together we unite with each other. For the time being, this is our goal: the final correction.

At the moment of creation we were united by the Creator’s force, but then He broke the unity that He had created in order to give us the opportunity to put it together on our own. Once we complete the “mosaic” with His help, we will become like Him, we will understand the program, the purpose, and the Creator in regard to our creation: what He wants from us and what His attitude towards us is.

“Creator” (Boreh) means “come and see” (Bo – Reh). I come and I see, I reveal what He is and who He is. This is what the end of corrections is.

What happens after? We do not know. Kabbalists give us clues, but it is impossible to understand them since we cannot even imagine the final correction. What does it mean to be like the Creator, to be on the same level, beyond time, movement, and space and perceive the endless reality? I do not perceive the other part of reality to speculate about it.

From the moment of final correction, we will be ready for something higher since we will be a corrected mechanism. What is it that we will be ready for? That is unknown. A little patience and we will know once we get there.

The Secret Of The Group

Dr. Michael Laitman with StudentsWe are completely severed from spirituality, the property of bestowal, but we have a “training simulator,” the group, which is a part of humanity that is willing to exist in mutual bestowal in order to become similar to the Light. Therefore, we have to examine ourselves solely in relationship to the group, and the more we are willing to bestow to the group, the more we get to know who we are.

This work is correct in its basis since another person (whom we hate and bestow upon only in order to receive some benefit) is a substitute for the Creator or the Light. If we understand that the only chance to approach the Light is through the action of bestowal inside the group, then this action evokes the Light that Reforms even though the group is egoistic.

This correction does not require an intention (Mitzvot Lo Tzrichot Kavana) because the very act of bestowal within the group leads to the correction according to the rule, “We shall do, and we shall hear” (Naaseh ve-Nishma). That is, from one’s actions one attains the property of Bina (Shmiya, Lishma).

As a result, we no longer evaluate everything according to “bitter vs. sweet” and instead, shift to the scale of “true vs. false” since we want to regard the friends as already corrected and great and see flaws only in ourselves. Thus, the group is the condition for correction because we can completely correct ourselves from egoism by examining ourselves in relationship to the group: What is the extent to which we are equivalent to the Light, the Creator.

The Creator intentionally broke our Kli and made us feel its parts as something alien to us so that we would learn to treat these parts as we treat Him. He planted the property of bestowal, which is opposite to our desire to receive, inside the foreign parts, and that is why we hate them. The problem is that a person is obligated to examine himself in relation to the environment that he is egoistically unable to view as important, but this is exactly what determines the magnitude of egoism inside us.

When the egoism is discerned within oneself, a person shouldn’t run away from this sensation, but rather engage in the correction through an action in the group and a request (MAN, prayer) during the studies. It turns out that working in connection with the group evokes the Light hidden inside it, the Creator, Who gives us the group as a substitute for Him in order for you to ask the Creator to correct your attitude towards the group.

Thus, we are dealing with only two concealed spiritual levels: the group, slightly disclosed and the Creator, fully concealed. While working in the group we must hide our feelings of resentment and rejection in ourselves, and then with the help of the Light contained in the group, we will discover our correction. As a result, I, the Creator, and the group will merge into one whole so that the vessel (Kli) and the Light would become one.

Jump And Freeze!

Dr. Michael LaitmanWe have difficulty understanding the language of Kabbalists. The very subject matter of the discussion is concealed from us, and we don’t know what the Light and Kli (vessel), the Creator and the creature, the spiritual worlds, or the correct and incorrect relationships are. We are unable to compare what is written in the text with reality because spiritual reality is aimed at bestowal and doesn’t exist in our perceptions that are still egoistic.

In memorizing the words of Kabbalists, we don’t get to know their essence, but use the clichés that we had previously agreed on. Even if we bring some understanding into them, how do we know that it is correct? After all, the spiritual states that the wisdom of Kabbalah is talking about haven’t left sensations and impressions in us yet.

All that we feel in our egoistic desire is not related to spirituality. In order to understand Kabbalistic texts, we need to internally jump over our egoism, freeze in this inner flight, and start absorbing the meaning of their words. This is why we need to shift the words of Kabbalists into the realm of sensory perception. In the World of Infinity, everything is simple: The Light fills the vessel (Kli).

However, at the stages of development from below upward, while studying the text without feeling it, it is impossible to visualize what is being discussed, understand, or even mechanically memorize it since we are not undergoing any of what the Kabbalists are describing. As an effect of studying, some ideas are kept in the memory, but since there is a lack thereof in the feelings, we get tangled and lost in them.

This continues until we are able to feel the spiritual states being described to the degree of our equivalence with them in our properties of bestowal. This can be achieved solely by way of working with the friends since love of the others leads to love for the Creator.

While remaining in egoism, we must first discover our hate in the yearning to be connected with the friends; then, we have to correct it until we have come to love as to a bridge that lies over an abyss of hate. Thanks to this correction, the abyss will be filled with the Light.

Test Yourself

Dr. Michael LaitmanBefore us, there lies an enormous creation. We neither feel nor understand it, and cannot comprehend its magnitude. This is why Kabbalists were instructed by the Creator (Nature) to keep communication with us in a specific manner. These special souls have already performed correction through various methods, almost without the assistance of the environment, and now, before the term expires, they are turning to us and offering the method of correction.

They explain how to arrange a correct environment, and we certainly should use their advice since if we choose the path of natural development, every stage will be lengthy and require enormous strength. Similar to the teachers of a kindergarten group, Kabbalists inform us about rules and conditions and teach us games and exercises. Their advice should be taken as a vital necessity. I must obey them since otherwise, I won’t advance. One shouldn’t deceive oneself, hoping to find some side roads.

Check and see whether you are truly participating if you open the book, but don’t realize it. Let’s see if you will still have complaints after that.

“It’s in your power to build an environment,” Kabbalists say. Yes, you can, but you are lazy in arranging such an environment that will give you confidence, raise the importance of the goal (adhesion with the Creator) and the means for its attainment (unity with the friends). In fact, only working in this environment that you have created will you find everything you need to feel the spiritual world.

It is okay if the environment looks external to you. In truth, these are all your inner Kelim (vessels) that came out due to the breaking. Do you want to correct the brokenness and enter spiritual reality? No problem: accept them and start loving them as you love yourself. When you do, all these external Kelim will unify with the inner ones, and you will return to the correct perception, you will see spirituality instead of corporeality. Everything has been written and explained, so realization of the method lies in our hands.

A Single Commandment

Dr. Michael LaitmanWe learn from the works of the Kabbalists that all that was prepared for us is the breaking, which we have to correct. Therefore, there is only one commandment: the correction of the breaking, meaning restoring the connection between the souls that have to unify and become one soul once again.

Since the collective soul and its parts (each soul separately) broke into a multitude of pieces, it seems to us that we are performing many different actions, yet all of them represent one and the same action: unification. First, we need to restrict our egoistic desire and rise above it in bestowal for the sake of bestowal, which is called “repentance from fear.”

After that, we must correct ourselves to receive for the sake of bestowal, which is called “repentance from love.” “Love your friend as you love yourself” is the outcome of our entire correction. As a result, all parts become unified as one whole, without any difference between them. In other words, there is essentially only one singular commandment: to connect.

We are yet to discover to what extent everything in this world is designed and prepared for this commandment to be implemented. Everything is arranged in order to give us a chance to ascend in a good and simple way, first to the revelation of the state of breaking and then to its correction. Hence, we think that we have to do many actions with ourselves, within the group, the family, society, the world, and all of mankind, but we should constantly keep in mind (in the intention) that it is all one singular act of unification.

The nature of this action, attaining unity, brings us great confusion since otherwise, we don’t understand why we undergo such varied states that feel heavy, confusing, and vague, and why so many hardships and problems come to us in life. In truth, there is one singular cause for it: a lack of connection. And the remedy for each predicament is connection yet again.

If we could see our present condition and the next desired state, from our lack of connection to unity, then all our problems would be cured, everything would become clear and filled with Light. Moreover, if we continue to hold the correct intention, we will rise above our confusion and brokenness to the action of oneness or faith above reason.

In other words, I am not going to drown in desires, feelings, lack of comprehension, and darkness, but will realize that this is all an effect of the breaking, and if I do everything which depends on me in order to attain oneness, I will be rewarded with the Light.

To Glow With Love

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I understand that it’s possible to hate my egoism, but how can I suddenly start loving another?

Answer: Love is an outcome of correction, above and atop the screens. But nothing disappears. The will to receive constantly grows, forevermore. While hate and distance in relation to the others is increasing, above all that, there is love!

When we reach the world of Atzilut, we will feel infinite distance between us, and above it, total connection. Therefore, this connection we have created is regarded as “620” times (Pi Tarach) greater than the initial existing one.

As it is in an electrical supply network, in order to elicit power from it, resistance is needed. You have to exert strength in order to extract this power, and only then will it do the work and bring a positive outcome.

There has to be resistance coming from one side, and some action coming from the other. If you connect them together, you can accomplish the work having received the source of power. Then, the light bulb lights up.

To Glow With Love

It glows because there is a spiral of resistance inside it; and the greater this resistance to light, the brighter the illumination it provides. These two forces, by working together while opposing each other, heat the spiral, and it starts radiating light.

Everything is determined by resistance; it has to be preserved in all phenomena. We use it as a measure for magnitude, and this is derived from the basic will to receive that stands in opposition to the Light.

The Fear Of God Is His Treasure

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, Shamati #38, “The Fear of God Is His Treasure”: In His treasury, the Creator has only the treasure of fear of God.

There are four levels of development:

1. This material world where we all exist;

2. The level (degree) of “preparation,” people who have the point in the heart and raise its importance above this world, above egoism, exist at this level;

3. Repentance (correction) from fear, the level of Bina, Hafetz Hesed at which a person turns into a righteous man. At this stage all 613 desires of the soul are being corrected to “bestow in order to bestow.”

4. Repentance (correction) from love, a degree of the complete righteous, a level at which all 613 desires are corrected into “receive in order to bestow,” similarity to the Creator.

The degree of fear is extremely important; it is a stepping stone on the way to becoming similar to the Creator. The Light gradually, little by little, increases egoistic desires in a person who rises above them and chooses to associate himself with the point in the heart. Later on, at the level of love, he starts using his desires “to receive in order to bestow.”

The Fear of God is His Treasure-1Thus, the degree of fear represents a vessel through which a person reveals the Creator (the Light of Infinity) when he reaches the next level, that of love. Developmental stages change each other at the pace of their own, and fear is the only thing that we have to worry about constantly since fear is diligent work on the screen and Reflected Light to keep us above our desires at all times.

Of course, all the work is done by the Light, but we have to ask for it ourselves. The group’s task is to carry out the goal and elevate its significance by maintaining unity and connection within which a general vessel emerges: the intention for the sake of bestowal, rising above one’s egoism.

The Fear of God is His Treasure-2
This is how we help each other, unite our points in the hearts, and shape from them the vessel into which we receive the treasure. When our unity will manifest itself, the Light will immediately reveal itself in it too.

Feeling Responsible For All Creation

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe first correction of the will to receive is to bestow in order to bestow. This means that I restrict the use of my desire due to its egoistic nature (for my “self”), unwilling to inflict harm to others, as it is said: “That which you hate, do not do to another.” But even this restriction of using my egoistic desire contains a correction since I don’t just halt myself from doing evil deeds. If I get a chance to steal and not be caught, what will stop me?

Correction implies that I not only unplug from all my desires as if they don’t exist, but I go further. I must experience in my feelings how much I harm another person and how much he will suffer. This sensation of suffering has to stop me from stealing, as I am told: “That which you hate, do not do to another!”

I absorb the desires of another. At first, my awareness of the evil inclination seems to keep my hands tied so that I can’t steal. But after that, it releases me and gives me an infinite opportunity to steal everything that belongs to others and even the Creator! You are allowed to do anything, without any consequences!

Yet, I start experiencing the “Shechina’s suffering” or the pain of others as if I have stolen something, deprived or killed someone. I feel the pain of the others within myself as if I am the cause of it. In relation to them, I am like the Creator who created the evil inclination. That is how we become connected. I become like Bina, a mother who feels all the desires of her children and the evil she is imposing if she isn’t taking care of them. But at the same time, she is aware of how much good she can do them if she is nurturing.

Then, the second stage of correction becomes revealed to us: How we can bestow to the others. In this phase, a person is already able to serve as a conduit between the world and the Creator. He feels that only he may channel fulfillment to them and that his crime is not in stealing but in the fact that he is not fulfilling their desires. This is what is actually called love of others as we love ourselves.

A person has to experience these two stages of correction himself: “That which you hate, do not do to another” and “Love thy neighbor as you love thyself.”

Developing A Human Being Within Ourselves

Dr. Michael Laitman“Love thy neighbor as thyself” is the sentence that determines the whole principle of the connection between desire and the Light, the correction of the common soul. In order for the creature to be able to reach equivalence to the Creator, the Creator is forced to first break the creature and bring it to hatred, to a state that is opposite to Him.

Achieving a state that is opposite to the Creator is only possible by creating a creature that is similar to Him and then changing this state to the opposite so that an imperfect form would arise from a perfect one. Thereby, the creature is presented with an opportunity to reach equivalence to the Creator on its own from an imperfect state by scrutinizing its own qualities and those of the Creator: What does it mean to be perfect and how does one reach this perfection.

The creature is searching for a solution, and in this manner it achieves the Creator’s state. In the process it obtains freedom to decide by choosing equivalence as the only perfect state. It is impossible to understand how one can be free from one’s nature. However, under the influence of the Light, which is opposite to our nature, a neutral space is created in our desire, which is absent even in the Creator. And precisely that which will develop in this neutral space will be called the created being.

We ourselves build this creature, the human being, “Adam,” which means “similar” to the Creator.

The Union Of Hearts Is The Union Of Bina And Malchut

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What does the “union of hearts” between the friends in the group mean?

Answer: From the wisdom of Kabbalah, we know that the breaking occurred to enable the correction of Malchut. Unless Malchut incorporates the desires of bestowal (the Kelim of Bina), it’s impossible to correct it. Malchut is gradually being corrected through the mutual penetration of Malchut and Bina, with the exception being its basis, “the stony heart (Lev Ha Even),” which becomes corrected last.

We correct Malchut through incorporating the properties of bestowal, Bina, into the properties of reception, Malchut. In souls, this happens through their mutual penetration until all the souls completely intermix and become corrected through the others (Israel vs. the nations of the world within each person).

Our corrections can only occur by incorporating ourselves into one another. To correct oneself means to correct your mutual incorporation with all the other parts of the common soul. The basis of correction lies only in the correction of the broken connection between us. Everything results from this: the entire group charter and the laws that we need to aspire to fulfill by following the advice of the Kabbalists that are based on their understanding of the Upper World.

All of this comes from the correction of the Kelim which need to be included in one another. This is attained through the effort to connect by attracting the Light which corrects the mutual incorporation.

All the recommendations of the Kabbalists described in their books come from the laws that define the nature of the breaking, correction, and the perfect state. When they speak about it, they say, “Unite, hold gatherings of friends, raise your friends’ spirits.” However, we need to understand that this comes from the need to become incorporated in one another in order to jointly attract the Surrounding Light that will correct the connection between us.
