Question: There was a mythological time when human communities were organized close to nature, which means that they were divided into communities of men and communities of women and lived together in harmony. According to literature, there was a joyful atmosphere and many jokes in the women’s community when the women gathered and laughed about things that had to do with the men. Can we use this concept in integral education?

Answer: We can use everything, whatever you want. We shouldn’t suppress any movement in any way. The only thing we should deal with is to raise our connection, the image of the upper One, to a collective movement, to a common feeling, to a general collective attribute of bestowal, to love.

All the rest will be sorted out by itself, and whatever is unnecessary will be deleted, and what is necessary will be intensified and rise. So, there is no need to pay attention to anything except for our spiritual ascent when our collective spirit, the connection, is constantly at the center of our attention.

Question: Today people already understand that things will only be getting worse in the world. But Kabbalah is still far from the masses. How can we cover this distance? And why is it there?

Answer: It is there in order to provide us and mankind with an opportunity to make an effort. This separation allows us and the external society to do mutual work in regard to one another. The distance was created with a purpose, for you to invest your knowledge, comprehension, understanding and to think about what is getting in the way of continuing the natural process.

Once apes descended from the trees and with time became primitive people. This was followed by the era of slavery, the Middle Ages, and the period of capitalism. And today, when this development has concluded in a collapse, people could come to the realization of the need for good unity. So why does development not continue automatically?

Because then the human would never appear. It would be the same primate that came down from the trees, driven by its egoism. We do not realize that we are completely under the control of our self-love. If I were shown the system in which we all exist, I would see that I do not do anything on my own. In this situation, the creature will not emerge. Take anyone through the filter of independence, and nothing will be left of him – nothing but the upper force, which was there initially.

“How do you make a human?”: That is the question. A human can be made only by providing him with darkness, a little knowledge, and a little strength to give him an opportunity to find a way to prevail over his nature and build something opposite to him out of the darkness without much knowledge or understanding. Then he will want to take the necessary parts from the Creator, and submit himself willingly to the environment, which will obligate him to do it. And he will be able to acquire a supernatural form through this mutual work, a form that is above his nature. And this form is called a “Human” (Adam), a form that he has created without the use of the Reshimot (informational genes), which were left in him from the times he was a primate.

Answer: I think that a society that aspires toward integration will discover a greater separation between the sexes. We see that nature doesn’t agree with any intermingling.

In nature, there exists a precise subordination, a hierarchy, a separation in accordance with functions and the way that men and women realize themselves. It’s precisely the correct alignment of these two opposites that will create and give birth to a new, harmonious society.

Question: What effort and awakening do we lack in order to help people break the barriers?

Answer: They must know that the goal is not achieved by shouts and riots in the streets. Instead, we must learn what connection is.

Connection is not a simple thing. Enthusiastic calls will not help here. A person must examine himself, reveal, and bring out within him the forces that repel the connection and that help it.

The method of connection is actually the method for a person’s inner correction. I don’t want to connect with others because this is how I am built from within. I can talk about this, praise the unity in the world, and organize general love days, but actually, we are all egoists, and no one has the power to truly connect with others. It is not that he does not want to, but is simply incapable.

Therefore, we need to become familiar with this and begin to change ourselves. The correction of the world is correction of each one. We need to change the person. Moreover, each one needs to change himself and not the others, and to help another person means to pass on the method and support in his first steps that he is capable of actualizing. I can give him an example of the extent to which it is important for me so that he also will be imbued with this importance.

We need to act solely according to the principles of mutuality. We are different from all the rest in that we say that it is possible to reach connection and unity, that it is possible to rise above the crisis.

We are capable of this. We have the method of connection that is based on a person’s correction. The entire Torah is intended for this, as it is written, “I created the evil inclination, and I created the Torah as a spice for it because the Light in it reforms”.

This is how a person becomes better. We use this method that enables us to attract the Light through the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah and work in the group.

In the News (from MIT News): “Many organisms — mammals, birds and insects, for instance — also form cooperative social structures that allow resources to be defended and shared within a population.

“But surprisingly, even microbes, which are thought to thrive only when able to win the battle for resources against those nearest to them, have a somewhat sophisticated social structure that relies on cooperation, according to MIT scientists. These researchers have recently found evidence that some ocean microbes wield chemical weapons that are harmless to close relatives within their own population, but deadly to outsiders.

“The weapons are natural antibiotics produced by a few individuals whose closest relatives carry genes that make them resistant. The researchers believe that the few antibiotic producers are acting as protectors of the many, using the antibiotics to defend the population from competitors or to attack neighboring populations. …

“This makes cooperation involving antibiotics doubly surprising, because the ability to produce antibiotics is a classic example of a ‘selfish’ gene that ought to increase the fitness — or reproductive rate — of the individual carrying the gene. In a strictly competitive environment, the microbe would use this advantage against its closest relatives. But now it looks as if this competition is modulated by social interactions where antibiotics produced by a few individuals act as ‘public goods:’ items that benefit the group, rather than just the individual.

“This differentiation of populations into individuals that produce antibiotics and those that are resistant is one of the first demonstrations that microbial populations engage in a division of labor by social role. This observation also provides an explanation for why so many genes are patchily distributed across genomes of closely related microbes. “’It’s easy to imagine bacteria in the environment as selfish creatures capable only of reproducing as fast as conditions allow, without any social organization,’ says Otto Cordero, a CEE postdoc who is a first author on the Science paper. ‘But that is the mind-blowing part: Bacterial wars are organized along the lines of populations, which are groups of closely related individuals with similar ecological activities.’”

My Comment: This is not surprising because the developed egoism makes it necessary to unite for the sake of defense. So, as a result of the crisis, we find that in order to survive we need to unite above and contrary to our individualistic egoism.

“One example, presented as a dramatic reenactment in the film, is the prehistoric hunt for woolly mammoths – it was progress when our ancestors figured out how to hunt efficiently, killing two beasts at a time instead of one, but when they figured out how to slay the whole herd by driving them off a cliff, they killed off their entire future food supply, and put their survival in jeopardy. That’s a progress trap that anyone can understand. My Comment: Today, we are outgrowing these errors due to the current crisis. It is hoped that it is understood that the egoistic economy has come to an end, and it should change to the economy of happiness in equal abundance for our bodies and in unlimited development for our souls.

A few years ago we published a wonderful book called The Future Generation. The book is based on three articles by Baal HaSulam that relate directly to our times and especially the “Writings of the Future Generation.” I suppose that the time in which this book will become the basis for establishing a new society is very near.

The writings of Baal HaSulam are kept in our archive. The “Writings of the Future Generation” was originally written as a rough draft, and in the book they are presented in an organized form. We have to see it as the guide for the new era.

I strongly recommend studying it. By the way, it was warmly acclaimed by leading members of the Israeli Academy who said that Baal HaSulam preceded his time and speaks not only about his time but about our days. Professor Eliezer Shveid from the Hebrew University wrote, “Much of what he foresaw is happening in our times and his explanations are valid, like an instrument that enables us to overcome the future problems of humanity.”

We will find a great part of his innovations here and so I think that this is an essential book for everyone. Even those who are far from our studies can look into the future of the world through this book as a Kabbalist sees it. It’s because his perspective is much deeper than ours. Even if he writes about it very succinctly and laconically, it’s still interesting to learn about his opinions.

Among other things it’s about what will happen in a couple of years. Isn’t it interesting to find out where the world is headed without using horoscopes, fortunetellers, soothsayers, etc.? After all, everything that is written in Kabbalistic sources has been fulfilled to this day, so this is also part of the plan. It isn’t fantasy nor science fiction Jules Verne-style, who actually foresaw many things. A Kabbalist sees the future that already exists and radiates it in our times so that we will know how it will be fulfilled.

Besides, by our inclination to what is to come we summon the Surrounding Lights from there, which correct us. It’s very useful to read about the future. It isn’t by chance that children love to read adventure books and to see movies about the future. It stems from their natural desire to develop. So by reading about the future, we draw Surrounding Light from the same model that is about to appear and which Baal HaSulam describes. It’s very helpful for our advancement.

The book “The Future Generation” was written in a simple language. I suppose that Baal HaSulam intended this book for the general public. He hardly mentions the wisdom of Kabbalah, but he does speak about the principles of just distribution, about organizing mutual relations between people, and it touches such things that thanks to them the reader immediately sees to what extent he agrees or disagrees with the writer. At the same time, from the first words a person reads, he already starts the spiritual work.

Another thing is that this book will help those who find it hard to tie the wisdom of Kabbalah with our message of mutual guarantee, those who contend that it’s useless to bring this message of unity to the masses. Here we see that a Kabbalist actually pushes us to do so and the faster this is fulfilled the more we will succeed.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah the ideal is to “please the Creator.” This means that we have to restrict ourselves and receive the Returning Light, which in turn means to be ready to accept His form in order to bring Him contentment. This is our goal; all the clarifications and all our actions are meant to “please Him.” It’s the same in our world when by wanting to please someone I accept his desires as my own.

But on the whole, the ideal in our world is to “show off” before others, according to their values, whether it’s wealth, respect, control, or knowledge. How do people want to attain success and greatness? They do so by feeling that “I” am important. We can see this clearly in the younger generation that grows with its natural instincts in search of values. By discovering everything that is important for others, the young yearn for success according to the scale of values that society dictates.

So whom do we want to boast before, the environment or the Creator? This is the difference between the world and the one who yearns to correct himself with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah. We want to advance and to be compatible with the Creator, to be equal to Him, and by that to bring Him contentment. The resemblance is possible only thanks to His force. We have to perform the right actions so that His force will influence us and make us resemble Him.

This work is called “the Torah and commandments.” Torah is the Light that Reforms, which means the Light that corrects us. In other words, we want to correct ourselves and not the world. This is the whole difference between those who deal with the wisdom of Kabbalah and those who deal with any other method.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is the method for the correction of man. A person advances to the level that he corrects himself by becoming similar to the Creator. This is why he needs the wisdom of Kabbalah, the wisdom of the Light. If he doesn’t have the goal of self-correction, he doesn’t deal with the wisdom of Kabbalah, but with something else.

This is where the great difference between all the dealings in the world and the work of people with the “point in the heart” who study and fulfill the wisdom of Kabbalah lies. For them the important thing is the constant internal changes. Others try to improve their lives by using those around them. There is a very big difference here. While the world presents the “moral perception,” we advance according to the method of the Torah, which means according to the Light that Reforms, or in other words according to the method of Kabbalah.

Eventually a person will acknowledge the fact that he is the one who has to change. This understanding is not immediate because who would want this from the start? But gradually it becomes clear that the crisis continues unabated and troubles are only getting more serious. Today we already see: in all of its activities humanity has committed a sea of mistakes and it is collapsing. This begs the question: Why? Why does all that we have built work against us?

Defects in all the systems are disclosed every day, in fact our ego increasingly destroys and distorts them. If we take the health care system for example: There are an enormous amount of medicines that are essentially poisons that destroy our body. They are specifically designed so that we become addicted to them and will consume them all our lives, calling them by new names.

Specialists produce the latest medical instruments and apparatus for testing and analysis. And yet, they are not needed for people who are so debilitated and destroyed that they don’t know where to go with such a life. Is this “mercy?” We don’t know what we want.

It’s the same in every field of life: in the family, in education, etc. Initially we wanted to do good things, and then we discovered that the ego distorts everything we start and turns them against us. This is why it’s called “help against us,” meaning that whatever you do it operates against you, obliging you to correct the situation.

This process has become global today. In fact, none of the systems we have created operates in our favor. The conclusion is that the only solution is to change human nature and not the external circumstances. Gradually it’s becoming more evident and as a result, the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed.

Humanity will discover that the cause for all the global problems is human nature, but no one knows how to correct it. Here comes our turn. We have to work seriously in order to show people the solution: Despite the deadlock, it is possible to correct man and to balance his nature. The method exists and is ready for use.

This is the message that we have to bring the world. Otherwise, it will deteriorate to even worse conditions and only then will it come to the same solution. We have to try to show it to the world now.
