New Life 810 – A Parent’s Influence On His Or Her Children

New Life 810 – A Parent’s Influence On His Or Her Children
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Education is only through example. We cannot influence innate characteristics, what depends on us is the education that is given and an understanding of life. If parents understand the great goal of life, this influences a child and helps him in life. All education takes place through the example that must be given to a child.

If a child scatters his games around and doesn’t want to pick them up, turn picking them up itself into a game. If a small child doesn’t want to go to sleep, so you should go to sleep. He will be left alone, become bored and go to sleep. If a child doesn’t stop playing with the electric outlets, seal up the outlets.

Treat the child like a small friend, reach a mutual understanding about what you are doing with each other. Show the child that you love and respect him, but demand a similar attitude in return. Explain to a child everything that you are doing even if he is small and doesn’t understand. It is most important to be friends with the children, and each party would be uncomfortable not to have what the other wants.

New Life 809 – The Impact Of Judaism On Humanity

New Life 809 – The Impact Of Judaism On Humanity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is the internality of Judaism, equality means that that there are no differences between people and that everyone is equal and important.

Humanity would not have developed without the spiritual development of Adam, Abraham, and our other forefathers, which they spread to the world.

The meaning of human dignity stems from the fact that we are all part of one system so everyone is special and very important.

3,500 years ago, the ego erupted in ancient Babylon and Abraham taught a group of people who wanted to ascend above it and connect. Western society enacted laws regarding human dignity without the intention of keeping them from the heart. Human life has lost its value today despite the growing numbers of fatalities in traffic accidents, acts of terrorism, etc. UN delegates want to devour each other, thus re-education is needed for everyone!

We have reached a crisis and there is nothing to hold on to any more except for nice words. We are nearing the birth of a new state.

New Life 808 – Between Liberalism And Judaism

New Life 808 – Between Liberalism And Judaism
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Man is the crown of creation because his desire is the greatest. His desire is an egoistic desire, which means he enjoys at the expense of others.

The ego buries us in this world, but we have been given an opportunity to ascend above it to an infinite unlimited world.

5,777 years ago, a scientist named Adam, whom we call First Man (Adam HaRishon), discovered that it was possible to ascend above our nature and developed the method for correcting man and society. Kabbalists who followed him continued this method, but as the generations descended, the Jewish people distorted the method of correction and now it is only empty words. Judaism today is built only on externality without the internal correction that is found only in the wisdom of Kabbalah.

We are facing a revolution that Adam HaRishon predicted 5,777 years ago, a revolution in which relationships of exploitation and egoism will change to relationships of connection and love. We have to lead all of humanity to love of others, to the feeling that we are all one, to the feeling of the upper force.

New Life 807 – What Is Self-Correction Really?

New Life 807 – What Is Self-Correction Really?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

What is self-correction in Judaism? How can we use every attribute correctly? And what would our lives be like if we enjoyed giving to others?

Everyone is born with certain attributes that cannot be changed, but only the proper use for them can be found.  The use of our attributes should be according to the general law of reality of “love thy friend as thyself” since we are all parts of one system.

Self-correction means using each and every attribute we have for the sake of others. A person should reach a state in which he is free and uses everything he has without hiding anything. Self-correction is done in two phases: first “don’t do unto others what is hateful to you,” and then “love thy friend as thyself.”

If we don’t correct ourselves, we will all deteriorate to a point where everyone will shut himself off in a corner and will settle for a little bit of food, a computer, a telephone, and drugs.

Everything depends on the relations between us. We can only enjoy life if we bestow unto each other, just like a mother who gives to her children and enjoys it. A mother uses all her qualities in order to bestow unto her children.

When everyone sees his or her fulfillment in caring about others, we will feel that we are full of pleasure. Implementing the rule” love thy friend as thyself” depends on education and on the agreement of all of society.

Israel is scrutinized under a magnifying glass in the world because people feel that we have to be an example for everyone.

New Life 806 – Good And Bad Qualities

New Life 806 – Good And Bad Qualities
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Don’t take care of yourself; take care of your relationships with others.

• How is it possible to determine which qualities are considered good and which are bad?
• There are no good or bad qualities that we are born with, but only a lack of understanding of how to implement them correctly.
• A successful person is one who knows how to integrate with his environment correctly.
• Not much of our innate characteristics can be corrected and we don’t know why we received particular qualities from nature, we just need to find how to use them properly within an environment.
• We were intentionally created differently from the start so we would complement each other in the connection between us.
• Our entire lives depend on the correct use of our qualities within an environment, meaning within the relationships between us.

New Life #356 – Proper Time Management

New Life #356 – Proper Time Management
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Summary

How do different cultures relate to time and managing it; how does life from giving change the perception of time and provide a sensation of eternity?

Life is over at the end, but we try to escape the existential questions that have no answer. If we invest time in the development of the human spirit in us, we can break through the limitations of time and ascend to a new dimension.

Reality is divided into two forces, reception and giving. The force of reception is limited. The force of giving is unlimited.

I want to get something, but receiving it only works for a time. Giving is effective immediate. It requires a suitable environment that understands that mutual giving contains the concept of another dimension and it wants this.

You need to learn as much as possible about how we rise to a new level and how we learn what true giving is. Then a person doesn’t measure time like now; he measures the force of giving that goes out from him toward others.

New Life #355 – An Approach to Life: Using Time

New Life #355 – Using Time
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Summary

How does society influence the way we use our time, what is truly important for us to do with it, and how will Integral Education lead us to relationships beyond time?

Will I be able to develop more rapidly than other members of my generation?

How can one use time most beneficially? Each one wants a different blend of: food, sex, family, money, respect, control, knowledge. Using time successfully is when a person tries to elevate the society in which he lives toward connection and reciprocity. When a person learns what true love and giving are, he sees that the power of love fills the world.

Acquiring the characteristic of love and bestowal raises a person above time on a clock. He has another way of measurement.

We were once animals. The summit of human development is to exit the restrictions of time, space, and motion. We waste time running after various things and only in the end do we understand that true happiness is in a loving and giving connection.

There is a higher purpose to life—to build a connection between us that will make us as one person with one heart.

New Life #341 – Altruism: Real Freedom

New Life #341 – Altruism: Real Freedom
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

What are we missing to feel free; specifically how is this connected to relationships between people, and what is the profound difference between narcissism and altruism?

The influence of the surrounding society on us is very great. It determines values, norms, and goals for us.

At home, a small child runs from corner to corner and feels free because an umbrella of love is spread above him. Even an adult lacks a feeling of being loved. Only for this are do we need to love others. That is where freedom is. Altruism is what is most fulfilling. See how much joy children bring to their parents.

If you don’t have a feeling of altruism, you can never feel free. To be free is leaving the narrow concern for only myself and beginning to live for others. When we are involved with altruism, we awaken a special power inherent in nature, the upper force, the power of love.

The wisdom of connection develops a feeling in a person that there is a very pleasant and warm feeling with connection with others. Later on, a person begins to feel that the characteristic of giving is itself something sublime.

Every person can learn how to be free, to become freed from tensions and pressures. And beyond this, one can even break free from the limitations of death, leaving oneself and living within the whole forever.

New Life #340 – Freedom And Independence

New Life #340 – Freedom And Independence
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

Under what conditions will we truly feel free? What should we do and how does our feeling of freedom depend on building relations of love, closeness, and connection between us?

We have gotten used to all sorts of limitations that life imposes on us and it is within these limits that we are seemingly free.

Different desires continuously rise in us and we have to work hard to fill them. We are slaves to the beast inside us. We will reach a state in which there is abundance and everything one may desire in the world, but the question “what am I living for?” will torture us.

Today people in different places aspire for political independence, but this will not give them a sense of independence either. No one can isolate himself from others and feel free in today’s integrated world.

We will be able to feel free only when we annul the borders between ourselves and others, like a child in his mother.

Today I look at everyone with envy. Everything they have drives me crazy, their cars, their homes, their lawns… Escaping from the stress we feel is not a solution since it keeps coming back. We have to build relations of love and friendship. The frustration people feel today stems from the lack of the right good connections between us. There are barriers and limits.

We will be able to feel a good, unlimited, free life only when we are connected like organs in one body.

New Life #339 – The Desire For Freedom

New Life #339 – The Desire For Freedom
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

What stands in our way of being free? Why are we constantly chasing something, and when will we be able to attain real freedom? Even animals aspire for freedom. Man desires not to depend on anything.

Today, in the era of abundance, a person still does not feel free. He is enslaved to the impulses that emerge in him. Progress has brought us to the feeling of enslavement. This is the reason that the desire to get married and to have children is disappearing.

Life is one big rush. The question of  “Why am I running if eventually we all die?” comes up.

Drugs and antidepressants provide a sense of freedom from thinking about life, death, and the meaning of life. Freedom means breaking through the boundaries of life and death, knowing what lies ahead, and being able to touch eternity.

The aspiration to be free from death is concealed in every search a person makes in life. This is the reason that no one feels really free even when he doesn’t do anything or is on vacation. There is a feeling of discomfort.

The question about the meaning of life stems from the hidden question that is in everyone’s heart: if everything comes to an end, why should I run at all? The media blurs this internal pain.

Being free means opening new unlimited horizons and being free from the question that gnaws at me.

Terrorism and fundamentalism make a person feel that he is fighting the angel of death and that he is winning. The young generation don’t want to leave their parents’ home. The more you learn, the more pain you feel. For what…
