Baal HaSulam, “A Handmaid that Is Heir to Her Mistress”: Know that a branch that extends from the internality is the people of Israel, which has been chosen as an operator of the general purpose and correction. It contains the preparation required for growing and developing until it moves the nations of the worlds, too, to achieve the common goal.

The branch that extends from the externality is the nations of the world. They have not been imparted the qualities that allow them to advance towards the purpose one at a time. Rather, they are fit to receive the correction at once and to the fullest, according to their Higher Root.

Question: What does that have to do with us?

Answer: When you, as Galgalta ve Eynaim (GE), by your gradual corrections, acquire the spiritual readiness, the AHP will join all at once. In contrast to the negativity that is revealed, the nations of the world will perceive your method “all at once.” It will be revealed suddenly: “Oh! That’s right!” without any accounts, calculations, or investigations. It’s amazing how the truth is revealed within the desire to receive.

We are confused because we also have the desire to bestow. On the whole, we are between the two desires and our systems are revealed very weakly. On the other hand, in the desire to receive that hardly has any traces of GE, the decision is taken very simply: “If the Light comes, I am with it, and if it doesn’t come, I am against it.”

Accordingly, the external attitude towards us will also take on extreme forms, either positive or negative ones.

Question: How is this reflected in our internal work?

Answer: We have to go over the sequence of our actions, of our internal states, as quickly as possible in order to be ready to connect with AHP and to save it. As Baal HaSulam says in the article “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee),” this is our goal. Actually it’s the goal of all of creation. It’s like the metaphor that the Creator turned to the nations of the world first and offered them the method of correction, but then He gave it to the people of Israel because it’s only in this way, through this link, that they can receive it.

Question: Are you saying that we are lagging behind in carrying out this mission? That we are not revealing it enough?

Answer: We are not concerned enough about bringing this information of the method of correction to people, first in the form of mutual guarantee. We have to carry out a campaign for this method and for its revelation. Now we are intensifying our work on the Internet and I am asking everyone to join the department of virtual dissemination and to take part in the work. It’s very important. We are behind and we must hurry.

Question: But we are very anxious about what is happening in the world….

Answer: We should be anxious about not carrying out our mission. This should be our only concern. You should be anxious about the mission that you haven’t fulfilled and not about something else. Leave all your worries about the future so that it won’t weaken your dissemination work. Transfer all your anxieties and worries to the current dissemination campaign on the Net.

What’s more, the outcome should be one: to bring contentment to the Creator. If you want to stop the wars and the other problems in the world, you remain on the level of “local” calculations that don’t solve anything. On the corporeal level there will always be death and darkness. In order to pull the whole world upwards after us, you need a spiritual calculation, a yearning for the Creator, since there is none else besides Him.

Question: Why do we receive the Light through the dissemination of Kabbalah?

Answer: We receive the Light only through dissemination since according to all of the physical laws, energy can only flow when there is somewhere it can flow, like a running wave, the electrical current in a circuit, water in a pipe. However, if the Light has nowhere further to spread, then you become a stopper blocking its way.

Imagine that there is a source of energy, a battery with a wire connected to it. However, this wire is broken and it does not lead anywhere. There will be no current there, although it is connected to a source of energy! The current will not flow in it because it has not connected to the second pole and has not provided for a closed circuit for the circulation of the current.

From this example it is clear, that even if you have connected to the source of Light, but have not closed this circuit, then you will not feel that there is Light inside of you. That is why, you are obliged to connect with others and close this circle through them.

Throughout all of the thousands of years when Kabbalah was still hidden, it was only revealed to a few chosen people in each generation in order to somewhat renew and adapt the methodology for the current generation. However, in essence, they didn’t do anything other than this adaptation for the new time.

However, when the opportunity to widely disseminate the science of Kabbalah and to close this this circuit has finally been revealed, it means that the time for correction and revelation has arrived. And the whole of the thousand years history was only the preparation for revelation.

That is why it is necessary to understand that by widely advertising Kabbalah you are not only helping others, but first of all, yourself. In this way, you are closing the circuit for the revelation of the Creator and by this, you give Him pleasure. Without this closed circuit, you are worth nothing.

It is written that Israel only passes the Light through itself to everyone else. That is why we must build this closed circuit between the Creator and all of the other people who do not have a direct connection to Him, and  we must become a transmission unit in the circuit ourselves. This is the only way we will be able to accomplish our mission.

If the desire to reveal the Creator has been awakened inside of you, it means that you have to become the transmitter of the upper Light and pass it on to all of the other “consumers” of it.

Question: The world is so great, and there are so few of us. At first glance, we stand no chance of reaching it. But on the other hand, it is written that salvation comes from the Creator in a blink of an eye…

Answer: We do not sit around relying on the Creator. A person must go by what he sees. The “Creator” (Boreh) is a quality that is revealed in us according to how prepared our vessels, our desires, are. I build Him for myself according to the principle of “come and see” (Bo-Reh).

There is no foundation inside me, and I can only rely on the forces I awaken in myself, in my environment. If I fail to awaken them in the right form at the right time, then they become revealed in a negative form. But one way or another, everything is inside us. There is nothing on the outside.

When we keep order and follow the schedule in our development, we reveal the Creator. But when we fall behind, when we are late, this delay conceals Him from us, in other words, it conceals the corrected system from us where the mutual forces of bestowal manifest. This is the spiritual world. There simply is no other Creator. In the worst-case scenario, you create an idol for yourself, an “external” image.

As for our possibilities, some are strong in their quantity and others in their quality. And this is why we do not fear the fact that there are few of us. The main thing is to bring the message to the people so that they will hear it. And this is why you have Internet that erases boundaries.

This world wide Web has appeared because it appeared for us. If we use it the right way, then we will reach everyone, and people will accept our message. After all, in reality these are small, helpless desires, like children, and we must care for them.

Question: So what should correct dissemination be like?

Baal HaSulam: “A Handmaid That is Heir to Her Mistress”: Hence, the worlds have been divided into internality and externality, where each world contains illuminations suitable to operate in slow development. And these are called “the internality of the world.”

Opposite them are illuminations that can only act instantaneously. Hence, when they appear here in their worldly branches and are given control, not only do they not correct, they ruin.

The internal part develops gradually, according to its nature, while the external part, according to its nature doesn’t even develop but makes one leap. These are two types of vessels, desires that operate according to their nature.

Know that this is what we call “the dominion of the externality,” as in the verse, “God hath made even the one as well as the other. It contains a force that urges and rushes towards the revelation of the dominion of the internality.

Desires that belong to GE cannot develop by themselves because they don’t feel a lack of anything (Hafetz Hesed).

I have nothing but I don’t need anything. Everything is just fine.

• How will you develop?
• What for? I am happy the way I am.

Then an external force comes and begins to push them by sufferings, hatred, and different problems and as a result GE have no choice but to develop. It happens since they have no choice, against the nature of these desires. Actually, the force that is revealed so negatively does good. Later on, this “evil” will turn out to be an “angel,” even though now it plays the role of all the enemies and the troubles of the people of Israel.

Those who belong to the “nation of Israel,” being aimed straight to the Creator, cannot advance without the “nations of the world.” They need the pressure of the negative force from behind. There is no other means of correction except the pressure of the external part on the internal one.

In fact these two parts make up the desire to receive, but the external part would only like to advance at one time. It is ready to swallow everything since it is the nature of the vessels of receiving. On the other hand, the internal part wants to bestow and so it is willing to restrain itself and to perform actions equivalent to its ability to bestow, which is a gradual process.

The problem of the external part is very simple: it wants to receive everything all at once, but it doesn’t have anywhere to take it from. So it turns to GE, which means to the nation of Israel and claims: “It is your fault! I don’t receive what I want because you don’t want to give it to me! You are the source of all the evil in the world.”

The people of Israel have been chosen as the operator of the general purpose and correction. It contains the preparation required for growing and developing until it moves the nations of the worlds, too, to achieve the common goal.

In other words there is a clear division between GE (Galgata ve Eynaim), meaning “Israel” and AHP, meaning the “nations of the world. The upper part is Bina and the lower part is the vessels of receiving (Kli Kabbalah). This is the structure of all of reality, of the whole general vessel.

We should understand that the people of Israel are the descendants of those who left ancient Babylon. Throughout history they underwent different changes, and today we speak about those in whom the “point in the heart” is revealed (•), and also those in whom it hasn’t been revealed yet—the people of Israel who don’t feel and don’t understand this component yet [(•)?].

The correction is the obligation of “Israel” and the “nations of the world” are the passive part. So humanity doesn’t have to change. What is more, if the “nations of the world” change without our dissemination, it is against us because in that case we don’t fulfill the goal of creation. The moment we received the wisdom of Kabbalah we have to immediately pass it on to the nations of the world, because the whole correction goes through us.

Question: Are the laws of Rabash that we learn appropriate for work in a group of the 99% of the population?

Answer: We should extract from there the fundamentals and teach them to the external audience. What do the laws of Rabash mean? Who are Kabbalists? These are people who take from nature certain general rules and attributes and teach them to us. If I need to be included in the general system, then I have to see this system as higher relative to me. Then I need to diminish myself, and I will be able to connect to it as a little one to grownups.

These are the usual laws of commutation designed to connect together. On the other hand, you need to bring your force to the people with whom you work in this group, the uniqueness of your point in the heart, because it is special in each of us. At the same time, you have to be as if above them, that is, to influence them from the point in the heart. Once, you fully connect with them and cancel yourself, you begin to influence, to bestow.

What Rabash writes about is the basic conditions that we know even from technology and from our physiology: how cells, neural pathways, synapses, etc. connect with each other. We know all that! There is nothing else.

So here it is possible not to mention the Kabbalists, but to take the information from engineering, biology, from anywhere. They are completely rational. They can be explained to any person.

We should be happy that we have the opportunity to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah all over the world; like Baal HaSulam once said: “I am happy that I was born in a generation in which it is possible to publicize the wisdom of Kabbalah.”

From the moment we have the opportunity to fulfill the method of correction, we should treat the whole world as a means in order to correct. Then we will feel happy about the opportunity we were given in order to work and to correct. Eventually, we will receive all the good reward that we have created, built, and earned ourselves.

We have to be happy when there are two components at the same time: the corruption that is revealed and the accessible method in order to correct it. This is because we only have to make the right effort and all of the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) will be revealed in us.

We have to show the world our joy, hope, elation, and confidence instead of the fear that engulfs the world today: joy rather than fear, confidence and a clear knowledge of what is happening and will continue.

It isn’t the suffering of the world but joyful labor pains. When a newborn baby cries, everyone around him is happy; our body, our ego is crying, while the human part in us is happy. We have to explain this to everyone and to draw them to us by our high spirits.

We have to improve in this since the world continues to deteriorate lower and lower into the abyss, into the feeling of despair, powerlessness, and hopelessness. We have to feel the joy very powerfully, the hope, the clear knowledge, the confidence, that everything that is revealed is only in our favor, since everything is ready for correction, for the “King’s meal.”

Everything depends on how we fulfill our mission, by understanding that the time has come for the inner correction and for the widespread external dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is very important to what extent we will be able to radiate the joy and confidence externally to the world by acting patiently and carefully.

We should understand that a person who is not one of us finds it difficult to perceive this attitude. It can irritate him and make him mad that we are in a state opposite from the one he is in, not sharing his problems and worries, that we are happy while everyone else is crying. We have to be considerate of people and gradually, gently, and patiently explain to them how to come out of this crisis.

We should explain to people that the moment we change our approach, we will already correct our attitude to the Creator a bit and be closer to the upper Light. Therefore, we will begin to feel this reality; we will feel that it isn’t just empty words but that there is something behind them.

Question: How does dissemination help in personal advancement?

Answer: All the personal advancement is determined only by dissemination: How many souls I can attach to myself. There is no other advancement.

After all, we are connected in one system, so I can advance only by increasing the number of connections. If I am not connected to anyone, I am “0.” If I connected someone, I have become “1,” if I connected two, I have become “2.” And if I connect everyone, I will become infinity.

That is why, it is said: “They learn not through the mind.” The one who does not work to connect other souls to himself by love does not realize the method. He becomes just a plug on the path of the Light.

For this reason, Kabbalah was hidden for so many years. It was revealed only when we have reached a state when we can begin to connect. Baal HaSulam, “A Handmaid Is Heir to Her Mistress”: The Higher Roots, called “Externality,” as we have explained above, are generally called “handmaid” and “slave.” This aims to show that they do not intend to harm at all, as it may seem in superficial observation. Instead, they serve the internality, like the slave and the handmaid who serve their masters.

It seems that the world is full of conflicts, wars, hatred, and troubles, and although we could really manage among us by cooperation and mutuality, eventually everything is aimed at one thing: Even in the current situation everyone is serving one another. It is very hard to accept this and yet that’s the way it is. The relations among us may seem unpleasant and awful, but still everyone serves others.

Of course, we cannot accept this form of fulfillment; on the contrary, we can sustain the same thing in a faster, better, and more comfortable manner. Still we have to accept the upper Providence: no matter what happens, everything happens for the purpose of mutual correction.

Question: Today I hear on the news that the Iranian leaders want to destroy Israel. Do I have to say to myself: “That’s good, it serves us?”

Answer: There is no doubt that it serves us, but we could accept the current phase of our development in a more pleasant and comfortable way if we related to what is happening correctly. The problem is in us, in the Jewish people and so we summon upon ourselves specifically this form of external pressure instead of a friendly attitude.

The forces of development are expressed this way since we are not preparing ourselves to accept them correctly. Who else is to blame for that but us? This is where all the accusations of the Jews stem from.

After all, the initiative is in our hands, we have the method and around us are desires that cry out: “Why aren’t you coming with the correction?!” Instead of with presents and signs of love, they approach us with threats since we don’t give them what they need.

On the whole, the world is balanced, and that is the world of Ein Sof (Infinity). If we make it lose its balance by not judging the world to the scale of merit, the scale of guilt rises, of not fulfilling our obligation. Rav Kook writes about it: If it is impossible to blow a kosher Shofar of redemption, the enemies of Israel come, Amalek, Hitler, etc. and blow in our ears…and evoke the redemption. He says that Amalek Hitler, etc, evoke the redemption.

Further on he says: Nationality is also part of the rod of the “Jews’ troubles,” here too we see the redemption, but you cannot bless this Shofar.

“You cannot bless,” but it is also a Shofar…

The whole point is that we are in the world of Ein Sof, and we are the ones who determine how it will appear to us, which of its parts will seem “white” to us and which will seem “black.” So there is nothing to cry about. Ahmadinejad awakens us to reach the correction faster. In addition to that the global crisis pushes us. If it began in some distant place and has reached us, it means that we are lagging behind in our development, in our ability to present the method of correction to the nations of the world.

What is worse is that we subconsciously hope that as a result of the troubles they will understand us instead of having to run to them to explain in every possible way the solution to the problem. We don’t worry about it the way we should. There is a lot we have to do, but we act irresponsibly, not feeling that we are guilty of what is happening, and so the troubles are nearing us. It won’t be as people threaten, it will be much worse than that.

Question: What should I do if I feel glad that there are crises, since they show that we are right?

Answer: We are right in saying that the world doesn’t see a solution to the crisis, but if we could explain what is happening to the general public, there would be no need for the blows. People would reach a much deeper and wider understanding of the current events, and they know what should be done.

Today people are just suffering from shock. But, we can sweeten his troubles by explaining things, by corrections and mutual incorporation. Now the same level of relief that we could convey to him turns into hatred towards us. People don’t know why they hate us, and the point is that the time has come for the general public to be corrected, especially in Israel and to some extent all over the world. On the whole we feel the blows upon ourselves.

So let’s see if you feel happy when your negligence and inattention will hit you like a boomerang. By the way, it refers to each of us.

Baal HaSulam says in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” item 71: In such a generation, all the destructors among the Nations of the World raise their heads and wish primarily to destroy and to kill the Children of Israel, as it is written (Yevamot 63), “No calamity comes to the world but for Israel.” This means, as it is written in the above corrections, that they cause poverty, ruin, robbery, killing, and destruction in the whole world.

A person rejoices in all the troubles in the world: “I have told you that things will be bad, now you see that I was right!” What kind of stinking ego can that be. Of course it is in each of us, but we mustn’t let it hold the reins and agree that this slogan will be inscribed on our flag. We mustn’t sit and do nothing and see how people suffer. Can we treat the world this way? Is there room for such a person among our friends?
