Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: …the whole difficulty lies in changing our nature from a desire to receive for ourselves, to a desire to bestow upon others, since those two things deny one another. At first glance, the plan seems imaginary….

We aren’t really aware of this difficulty yet. Ask people on the street and they will tell you, “What’s so difficult about it? We know how to help others.” Some admit that egoism is inherent to human nature in some sense, but no more than that. None of us yet feel the need, the necessity to go from reception to bestowal.

However, eventually the crisis will show us that we simply have to do this since otherwise we won’t survive. We will even lose what we now have and will finish ourselves off. Out of having no other choice, we are nevertheless starting to analyze the situation: Do we or don’t we have a chance to unite into a common system as Nature demands of us? Maybe we are incapable of meeting this condition and are doomed to die?

After all, this is a possibility. Once upon a time the dinosaurs were unable to adapt to the new conditions, and now we too have found ourselves in a similar situation. Right before our very eyes many species of plants and animals are disappearing. So maybe the human species is also destined to disappear? Reasoning objectively, we inhabit a small planet at the outskirts of the galaxy and possibly, by nature’s plan we have to make way for another species with greater potential and importance that will suit the large-scale picture better.

Thus, we are beginning to figure out the situation: Our nature is egoistic, while nature is setting a condition of mutual bestowal for us and requiring us to unite into one single whole. This demand of the common system will be expressed more and more clearly. Jammed between the desired and the reality, we are experience great pressure upon us.

That’s when the science of Kabbalah comes to our rescue, as if coming down on us “from above.” If we did not have this method enabling us to evoke the force of correction and ascend to a new level, then we really would die out like the dinosaurs because we would not have the slightest idea of what is happening and what nature’s program really is like.

Its condition does not seem realistic at first. We cannot unite. Then what should we do? The only course of action left is to wage wars and conflicts. When man has no choice, he is capable of anything. His only wish is to put an end to the doubts. We cannot tolerate uncertainty. It’s better to start a war or even die. Then we are at least moving somewhere, and that’s the most important thing. Since we made this decision, then it doesn’t even matter whether we will survive or not—the process has begun. This is much easier than wandering aimlessly in a fog. Uncertainty tears us apart and we cannot bear that.

That is why in our time the science of Kabbalah is being revealed to the world. It is being revealed “artificially,” from above, through a lineage of Kabbalists, by means of a certain parallel program. On the path of the natural development, we would not have been able to discover it and carry out the correction. After all, in the current situation, the transition from reception to bestowal really does appear unrealistic.

Question: Baal HaSulam’s words sound like a utopia. Clearly, if every person works for the common good, then everyone will be well off. But do we have the means to create that kind of society?

Answer: Of course we do. There is a set of elementary means that make it possible to do this easily and willingly, while being imbued with enthusiasm and providing enormous reward for yourself. Even from the purely egoistic point of view, it’s worth it because you will get rid of all the troubles of this world, will set up good relationships with other people, and in them you will acquire a new world, full of goodness. So what more could you want?

“But how can this be done?” you ask. The answer is: by realizing your free choice through creating an environment around you that will constantly brainwash you and press on your feelings with the profit of bestowal.

So what’s the problem? Everything is very logical. And if we don’t want it, then several disasters in the near future will change our priorities. When you lose work, when your fridge goes empty, when your children will demand something that you can’t possibly do for them, when your wife starts putting pressure on you, then not finding any alternative, you will discover that there is correction for this world, after all.

In reality, you evoke Nature’s harsh attitude to you yourself. You put yourself in conflict with it by not corresponding to the demands it is presenting to you. And these demands are clear: a global, integral, equal unification for all. We have to take an example from nature. On this path we will reach success, and on any other—only suffering. That is how the law of equivalence of form is expressed which operates in physics, biology, and all other fields. Until today only human society posed an exception, but today the time has come to observe this law in society as well, and to do it by our own desire.

So go ahead—try it. If you can’t do it, then you will suffer due to violating the law until it forces you to observe it. This is what always happens in the process of natural development. Previously you also received blows of differing intensity, which pushed you forward without you even being aware of it most of the time. You experienced pressure from different sides and solved the problems that emerged. Sometimes you had to wage wars and revolutions, which are greater impulses toward appeasement, when things were simply unbearable anymore.

That is how you developed until now and that is how you will develop from now on. You will always have an opportunity to take the next step. After all, you are matter that feels, a desire for pleasure, and this desire can be turned into anything. Just press in the right place with the right force, and it already shouts, “I want!” It shouts because it does not wish to suffer. Through this escape from suffering, you can be taught greater wisdom and be brought to bestowal as the desired redemption.

We know from our own experience that we can easily change our opinion depending on the circumstances. It’s enough for the circumstances to change and we immediately make a different calculation, raising a new truth onto the pedestal.

“What kind of truth is that? You just have greater profit there.” But you object, “No, it’s the truth!” And you say this from the bottom of your heart, even though it’s the sincerity of the belly, which forced you to rethink things. That is how the desire for pleasure operates in every one of us.

Therefore, if we don’t want to advance consciously, with awareness, then Nature will force us to do it. By our disagreement with its program of development, we create the future unpleasant states ourselves. Previously evolution led us “on a short leash,” but now everything is different. It’s as if you have been transferred to “standby mode” and given the opportunity to advance independently: Try to do something, activate your free choice, start organizing an environment.

However, if we don’t do that, then some time later, negative occurrences will be expressed in society, which will force us to budge. For example, today we are discovering that people cannot begin correction yet and cannot hear us. We are also guilty of that because we haven’t yet learned to disseminate materials that are clear and that warm every person’s heart. As a result, the next state is being revealed: The world feels bad, and we feel even worse. That’s because at the end of the day, the work is our responsibility.

If we do not wish to unite in the good way and turn to the world with the force of our unity, then we will desire it from the bad way. We can’t run away from this mission, just like Jonah the prophet could not escape his predestination.

Question: People agree with the idea of mutual guarantee, but they don’t know what to do with it. People accept our explanations in good will, but what next?

Answer: This is enough. First you give a person an explanation of the situation with the integral interconnection, informing him of the fact that in our global world it is inadmissible to give in to protectionism and isolationism. “It’s none of my business” is no longer a viable excuse. We are all interconnected like cogwheels whether we want it or not and there is no clutch pedal that could separate us from one another. There is no other way to go: We simply have to take one another into consideration, to understand the essence of mutual unification and the single human system. Only by mastering its laws will we be able to decide what we should do together from here on.

In the past we were separate and I was able to take anything I wanted from you for my own needs. But now, when we are welded together, I do not take away yet another “sack” from you, but simply move it around from one place to another in the common warehouse. And eventually, this will harm me.

We still don’t realize the meaning of “a single system.” If you don’t take all of its parts into consideration, then you cannot act. The world today is demonstrating the general interconnection to us, and this is just the first, smallest, most proximate spiritual level. Without ascending to it, we won’t be able to fix anything in our lives. From one day to the next, the external pressure will grow, the screws will tighten more, and the conditions of this first level will advance clearer, more precise demands to us.

Eventually we will have to get to know the single system, understand it, include it inside ourselves, and adjust ourselves on the inside to its laws. Then we will suddenly see abundance everywhere. As soon as we attain unity, the abundance will come to light. It will become apparent that peace and order reign everywhere, and we have reached peace on the first spiritual degree.

After that the next degree becomes revealed, and we are again faced by disorder, injustice, chaos…. That is how we continually discover our non-conformity to the following level of ascent.

Question: Today the crisis has reached all corners of the world and no one sees a solution to it. Why don’t we examine the economic system analogously to our system of upbringing, and offer it to the world?

Answer: We can provide a wonderful description of the economy in the period of the final correction: a balanced society, consumption within the boundaries of reasonable necessity, conservation of nature and man, the sole development of projects that save time and energy and benefit people’s health…. All of this is logical and is easy to put in writing if you are not writing about egoistic gratification, but basic necessity, the harmony between us and nature.

But how can we transition to this stage? How can we explain it to the modern tycoons who are essentially the ones to decide the fate of the world? They manipulate governments which in turn manipulate people. So how can we present this final goal to them? How can we tell them about the phases on the path to it? They will ask: “What will be left for us?” And what will we tell them in response?

“You will receive exactly the same amount as a regular housewife, and your billions will be returned to nature’s needs in order to fix the mess you have made by proliferating excessive consumption in the world. And beyond that you will enjoy internally, spiritually. You will no longer be ‘the top roosters in the pen,’ proudly parading around the perches. You will mature and this will cease giving you pleasure.” You will be fulfilled by the attainment of a higher level.” On the contrary, it will evoke scorn.

Will you be able to explain all of that to a tycoon so he will be enticed by the idea of eternal, perfect life, so he will want to enter the eternity of nature itself, join it, and reveal a higher level of existence in it?… “You will live there like a respectable tycoon. Even when your animate body dies, it is not really you at all. After all, you will become Human in the true, spiritual sense….”

This works only for refined individuals, yet others just might understand it right away. That is why today we are disseminating the force of mutual guarantee to the whole world, and we are not addressing the tycoons, but the people. “It’s worthwhile for us to get closer to one another so life gets better.” And in the meantime, with a view to the future, we inject Light into people, the force of unity. Once they are filled by this force, they begin to understand more and to agree with us, seeing real benefit in the mutual guarantee. That is how they advance.

The path to the heart is not through the mind. You can’t get your mind around this because the mind’s level corresponds to the level of the desire it serves. The mind can never rise above the desire. Deceived by illusions, we might look down on our animate being, but the mind seems like the pinnacle of creation to us. Yet in reality our mind is even lower than the animate desire, being a mere servant of it.

Therefore, the only opportunity we have is to change people’s desires, which can change only under the influence of the Light. This is what we have to provide for them. Your logical conclusions alone won’t help. People will not understand you and will think that you are simply an idiot or a mystic, or in the best case, a great guy dreaming about peace and love on the planet.

There is only one solution: to unite among ourselves and to give people the force of unity. Only this will raise them to a new level of understanding, perception, and agreement with us. Moreover, later, once they agree, they will see that it’s worthwhile for them to follow us because they can’t understand our message fully. By acquiring the force of unity, they will rise to a level where it will become clear that they have to hold on to us, as it is written in the Torah: They will “grab onto your clothes,” meaning the garment, the external vessels, and will say, “Take us there!”

Obviously, you are right in that we do have to talk a little about the economy, upbringing, and the world of the future so as not to push people away at the initial stage. But the most important thing is to transmit the force of unity to them. This is dissemination. In the Introduction to Panim Meirot UMasbirot, Baal HaSulam writes that when the sons of Israel become filled with this force of unity, it will spill from them to everyone else. We have to be ready to receive this force and then it really will spill over to people, who will be receptive to the influence of the Light of Hassadim, giving themselves over to it wholeheartedly.

Baal HaSulam, “The Nation”: …the proximate step after the ruin of the present government is that of Nazism or Fascism. Evidently, we are still enduring a medial phase in human development. Humanity has not yet reached the highest level of the ladder of evolution. Who knows or can assume how many rivers of blood are yet to be spilt before humankind reaches the desired level?

The problem we are facing is: how to go from the current phase of development to the altruistic phase? Equality and fair distribution are not just words. They must be backed by great preparation work on educating the masses and creating a new social network—one that’s real, not virtual. These things are far from obvious, and evolution is not leading us to them by the natural path. This requires conscious participation from us and the realization of our own evil.

Revolutions “off the mark” where people come out to public plazas and “take them over” won’t help us because we are no longer dealing with the gradual development of egoism, which breaks through the blockades of government or regimes and reaches new frontiers. We are moving further and further from slavery to freedom, but this freedom is deceptive. In reality, we are putting ourselves into a more sophisticated system of slavery.

On the other hand, it is impossible to go from the egoistic regime to the altruistic one by the same, routine scheme. This requires a sensation and realization of evil, a need for a change of state in spite of our nature. That means we have to prepare for an inner revolution: to build an environment as a factor of influence, to use the science of Kabbalah as a means, as an instruction manual for working, and form a pyramid so the leading, understanding, and feeling part will head the process. We have to go through levels of despair and helplessness in the current state. It’s not enough to simply admit that all means have been exhausted, as economists, pedagogues, and other specialists are now saying. We must also agree with the fact that any further deterioration will bring us to total collapse.

Then people will be able to hear the message about nature’s plan, which has prepared this entire path for us so that today we would feel the need to change ourselves and would find the means to transform ourselves and become opposite to what we currently are. If people will hear this, we will be able to go through the phases of development relatively smoothly. But we won’t avoid the pain until people are able to hear, until they desire to receive the message, and until they realize it.

Nevertheless, it will be possible to go through the forthcoming phases without real bloodshed. Otherwise there is great suffering ahead for us.

We are facing a turning point, a bifurcation point. It is possible to go from the egoistic regime to the altruistic one, to bestowal, fair distribution, social justice, and mutual guarantee, only in two ways:

– By means of horrible disasters. But the disasters won’t help by themselves and we won’t learn anything from them. They will simply entail analysis and conclusions.
– By means of dissemination, which will allow people to understand that there is no other way out and we have to change the tendency.

You and I are at this very point, and these states will now have to be realized.

Question: How should we go about mass dissemination and what should we do differently from how we have acted until now?

Answer: In some people the urge to reveal a perfect reality awakens by itself. These are the people with “a point in the heart.” They ask questions like, “What is the purpose of my life? What am I living for? What gives me life?” By no means does this have to make them depressed, or perhaps just a little. But most importantly, they have a burning passion within. They feel that there is something concealed from this world, that there is something else operating in reality.

In reality, everyone comes up against this question, but most people muffle it out. Yet not everyone is able to. These people get “swept” onto our shore, similarly to how an electric charge in a magnetic field moves toward its source, carried by the force of attraction. People come to us not knowing how or why. The fact of the matter is that everyone is inside a single field of information, nature, or plan of creation, and precisely we have the primary sources that originate from there, answers to timeless questions.

We roughly designate these people as 1% of humanity. Their number grows from one day to the next and they awaken across the whole world: at the icy north and in a Nigerian village, in Japan, China, Chile, and in the center of Europe…. The point in the heart does not depend on geography. It is a sign of a new phase of development. Gradually it will start awakening in everyone, but for now we are the first generation that aspires to find out what it is living for. Our egoistic desire has reached the stage where it demands to attain the meaning of its existence.

This is already a question asked by a human being rather than an animal whose sole interest is only to arrange its life the best way. Precisely the human being in us asks, “What am I living for?” For people like that, we have a method that’s ready. They start studying and receiving explanations.

But what should be done about the others? We never thought we would have to address those who do not ask the question about the cause and purpose of life. However, the events taking place today are obligating us to act. The crisis has arrived and humanity has found itself at a dead end with the world’s leaders not knowing what to do, as if they are little children. They get together at G8 and G20 conferences, but there is no answer. They make far-reaching decisions, but the decisions don’t work.

The problem is that the world has become closed in a global system, while they are not global. On the contrary, they are individualists and egoists. Therefore, they do not know how to approach modern global problems correctly.

The science of Kabbalah says that during these times, we have to come out into the world and disseminate knowledge about the new situation in it. Obviously, we have to act without pressuring anyone and without looking down on people from above, but on the contrary, we have to be as friendly as possible and approach people in the way that’s most comfortable for them. We have to give them an explanation of the fact that we have entered a new system of interconnection and therefore all of the previous forms of connection do not work any longer.

We have to learn this new system and understand what our universal interconnection means. It’s similar to entering a new workplace that is governed by rules you do not know, and where you must first find your bearings. It takes time for you to get used to the accepted norms of communication, to figure out the system, to find the points of contact in it, to start pressing the right buttons and receiving the right reactions…. And that is just a regular situation in our world.

In contrast to it, the new interconnection that is being revealed between us today is opposite to our nature. It does not match my inner quality and I cannot study it. First I have to change on the inside, and only then will I be able to figure out this integral connection that is being revealed everywhere today: at workplaces, in industry and production, politics and economy, and in all the relationships between us, even including family life.

Therefore, the first thing required of me is a willingness to understand. If I, an egoist, were entering a regular egoistic company, then with time I would set up the right relationships. However, today I am entering an integral society in which everyone is interconnected as cells of one body, even if they do not feel it yet. That means I have to rebuild myself from the inside, to receive correction.

It turns out that humanity has found itself in a critical state. Today every person has to change and understand what kind of net has come down on us. In this net we are flapping about like fish, unable to escape the universal connection. Without understanding this connection, we will not be able to do anything in our world. After all, we depend on one another, and therefore, without becoming aware of the new laws, we won’t be able to make contracts, maintain the bank system, production and trade, exchange goods and knowledge….

The doors that were open to us before are closing, and the mechanisms that have been working are drawing to a halt. “It’s a crisis,” we say, but it’s not a regular crisis and therefore, we are unable to control it. This unusual, nonstandard, and completely new state is what we have to explain to the world.

Besides, we have to explain how we can change in accordance with the new, global system. After all, in essence, nature is inviting us to become integral parts of it. Previously every one of us was blowing up his own, egoistic “bubble,” swallowing the resources of the environment. But today, despite the enormous egoism, we have to set up an interconnection and unite among one another based on the principles of mutual help and support, similar to parts of one body. And that is extremely opposite to our personal benefit.

Therefore, in order to change, I have to involve an external pressure, or stated differently, build an environment. It’s similar to how parents are watchful of who their child is friends with because his environment today is him tomorrow. That is how I must artificially form an environment for myself that will influence me from all sides. By doing so, it’s as if I pull myself out of the swamp by the hair because I create a wonderful, proper environment for myself so it will cultivate the right approach in me and imbue me with new, global, integral values that I lack.

I build this environment artificially, but when it influences me, I change in actuality. Then I add new “bricks” to it so it will provide me with even greater support, so it would be even more consolidated, interconnected, and global, and then it influences me again.

That is how I form myself and pull myself out of egoism and individualism into the general unity. At the same time, I study nature’s enormous system and in essence, carry out the Creator’s work. There is nowhere for me to take an example from besides the books written by Kabbalists who have already done this. Side by side with modern scientists, they explain to us what the global nature is.

At the end of the day, it’s as if we are playing: We turn ourselves into a game that raises us. It’s the same as how little children grow and get smarter as they “play.” By acting this way, I start to understand this enormous system and from there I see how to build new mechanisms of our relationships.

That is how I come out of the crisis and start to understand that this is not a crisis at all, but a game, a disassembled Lego set that we have to assemble. By putting together pieces of the broken whole, similar to a child, I develop until reaching the level of this whole system.

For the first time in history, we are facing the need to build the new, human society ourselves, to create a system of the proper interconnection out of small egoists. By doing so, we will reveal this system and will start living in it all together with a common mind and feeling, and then we will rise to a mind and feeling that lie above the current, individual life of each of us. This will become the revelation of the concealed world.

We have to perform this work ourselves in our global system. And we must also explain it to others. Humanity will have to make this happen. Otherwise we won’t get through the crisis. It will exert extremely powerful pressure on us until we carry out this task, similar to how parents pressure children to study.

Question: We have been discussing the fact that excessive consumption has brought humanity to a troubled state. However, some economists surmise that if we start consuming less, this will also have a negative effect….

Answer: Every phase of development has its own spiritual HaVaYaH sequence. It includes phases of bestowal and reception, idleness and a combination of different factors of interconnection. Therefore, we cannot draw a direct interconnection between the level of consumption and the solution to the problem.

Previously we might have been able to improve the situation by distributing goods among everyone because the egoistic desire was developed to a certain level where the gap between the layers of the population could really have been ameliorated in this way. However, today we have risen a level higher, and the methods that were suitable at the previous phase are no longer working. The accent is shifting from the receiving desire to the bestowing one, and you cannot attain real improvement through mere “hand-outs.” You have to understand that by giving out products, you are trying to block the path of the crisis and are thereby depriving yourself of the opportunity to get down to its causes, the bestowing force, the Creator. But in the meantime, our troubles are already acquiring a goal-oriented nature.

Analogously, at the second phase of the expansion of Direct Light, it is impossible to act the same way as at the first phase. That’s because the second phase derived from the first precisely because it was time to realize the primary cause of the Light. Even though it is entirely filled by the Light, this is no longer sufficient.

Likewise, today simple distribution does not solve the problems. The goal of creation is not to satiate our egoistic desires or for us to “stuff our bellies.” That is why we are discovering the second phase of development: by giving out goods to the poor, we will only accelerate the collapse.

So what should we do? After all, this is contrary to all logic. Previously egoism ruled the party: The more we received, the better we felt. But now consumption and restraint, selfishness and concessions in favor of the weak are equally destructive for the economy. Stated differently, we have no more effective methods left to work with the egoistic desire. It has depleted itself both in reception and bestowal.

This is the beginning of the two-sided realization of egoism’s evil—the total recognition of the fact that it cannot be used.

So how can man survive? Several million people in the world will manage to feed themselves with the fruits of the earth that they farm. And what will the others do? We will not be able to maintain the previous connections, and moreover, we will not be able to exchange goods and production the way we once did. The word is starting to reduce its circulation, to “freeze up.”

Under these conditions, the only thing that can really help humanity is a clear attitude to what is happening, the understanding of the need to change the nature of our connections. This is the only thing that will give us good results.

Therefore, first and foremost people need to study. Leave everything else. Provide everyone with the base minimum just above the poverty line, and use the rest of the efforts to improve our interpersonal relationships.

“Fair distribution” and “social justice” are pretty words, for the sake of which tens of millions of people were killed or killed others. Slogans such as these will only help on the condition that we change people’s consciousness. And for that we need upbringing. A person just needs the vital necessities and the willingness to listen, and that’s all.

However, he won’t be learning about “how to consume properly,” but about how to relate properly to others. Everything else will become a natural consequence. When people’s desire changes, they will understand how to manage life of their own accord. By virtue of upbringing, all the practical solutions will become obvious.

First of all, a person has to be educated and changed at least slightly. This is the only way we will avoid Nazi regimes of different kinds, by building an environment that changes people for the better.

Question: What does the science of Kabbalah say about the current moment? How can it help us in this important transition period?

Answer: We live in a special time. Our world stands at the threshold of the ascent to a new, inner, spiritual, stage of development of the human within us.

Until now, as the science of Kabbalah explains, we were developing naturally, obeying the impulses of our egoism. It forced us to transform society, change family life, develop technologies, reshape countries and formations, and introduce changes in education and culture. We were always headed in the direction that the natural inner urge pulled us towards.

But today we have reached a certain satiation. The world as though ceases to provide us with pleasures. It no longer satisfies us economically: We feel certain barriers preventing us from moving on. The American theory of the consumer society with infinite growth of exports and imports, with unlimited technological and productive capacity has exhausted itself. Moreover, we have transitioned to the downward trend, to decline, which, according to economists, will be long, and no one knows when it will end.

According to the science of Kabbalah, the way we understand it today, the crisis will never end. At this stage of development, we have realized our egoism, as well as the potential of the surrounding nature, causing terrible distress to it. As a result, we are on the verge of collapse in the areas of human and social development, education, and ecology.

In this situation, we need to consider what has happened to us. Are we going to continue in this manner? We have literally ruined ourselves, having evidently made a mistake in our objectives and goals. Do we want to increase consumption, thereby destroying the environment? Do we want to get stuck in our “mechanical” race?

Having hardly used manufactured goods, we throw them away to buy new ones. And this is our life. Would we want to fill our being with similar games in wealth, honor, and power? Is the meaning of human life in monthly changes of mobile devices and other symbols of consumption?

Today, the process that we are going through forces us to slow down and invites us to reflect on it. Evidently, there is a different program built in Nature, and we have to look into it.

Universal wisdom, general balance, homeostasis, which we discover in Nature, remains outside of man. For Nature, a human being is a foreign element, a cancerous tumor, devouring its environment and itself.

We are destroying human society, spoiling ourselves and our children, distorting everything, and leaving ourselves no opportunity for correct existence. If we look at the world “from aside,” people seem to be blind, moving along a suicidal path. They continue to play power games, to destroy themselves, children, society, and the future, and are not aware of this.

That is why we are in the crisis. In fact, this is not a crisis. This is salvation. Today, when all the systems created by us are collapsing, we get a clear sign which leads us to the point of truth. Finally, we can see that we have no choice but a radical change of attitude towards life.

Instead of continuing to roll down towards self-destruction, what is still wanted by politicians, economists, and, indeed, by the greater part of humanity, all the people, communities, and organizations who already see what is happening must together work out a new approach towards the world and nature, in order to move on in a different way.

Today, we are in a special state, when for the first time humanity no longer understands its desire. A very important change is taking place: All of humanity is shifting from the first, “still,” degree to the second, “vegetative,” degree. For now, this is not clear to us, but it’s only the beginning.

Gradually, we will understand that nature, our desires, the upper governance, and our usual, familiar life, everything is relative, dependent on some factor that is unknown to us, that we cannot feel or take into account. We call this factor society, the environment, the global and integral humanity, a new connection between us that is being revealed today. But in reality, a person is shown that he is completely dependent on all of humanity; we are entirely in its hands.

We are currently exiting the unconscious subordination to the upper governance, under which we meekly existed at the “still level,” believing that this was the only way of life and that we must get used to it because there’s nothing else. But now, we are being shown in this life another component, another factor: the environment. In fact, it’s not an external environment, but the upper force that is being revealed to us. A person begins to feel that he depends on the environment, the environment depends on him, and they mutually influence each other.

In essence, this is the revelation of the Creator’s governance with respect to a human being. And according to this, a person will change to escape impending problems and troubles since he remains in the desire to enjoy. Various phenomena are starting to unfold before him, and he feels that he is a receiver. He sees that there is someone, a big giver, the environment, the world, that he depends on. Thus, the revelation of the Light, the upper governance relative to man, occurs.

And when a person understands that everything depends completely on the environment, he enters the second stage of development: “vegetative.” He has to give to a community which he receives from, realizing that the law of reciprocity exists, and that it won’t be good for him or the society if he only receives.

He no longer rigidly divides the world into two parts: himself and “them,” meaning everyone else. Being at the “still level,” he sought only to receive, but because he was unaware and did so instinctively, it did not count as reception; he was only obeying his nature.

And now, when he rises to the “vegetative degree,” he must perform conscious actions and give in return. That is, he has to change his behavior, which at the still degree was considered 100 percent correct, even though he stole and took for himself since his nature obliged him to do so.

Now, he is given a little bit of freedom from his own nature, and accordingly, he must give to the environment. The whole world must come to this; we must learn to not only receive, but to give as well.

Thus, we fulfill the still degree of our development. All of the other degrees: vegetative, animate, and human will add to the first, still, degree. To the extent that I reveal my egoism above the still degree, to that extent, I will correct my egoistic inclination and return to the still degree to carrying out the laws of nature like a slave, but voluntarily.

Therefore, everything is based on the still level. Inside this HaVaYaH is the entire creation and the attitude of the upper force towards it.

We are moving toward balance with nature. It aspires to bring all of its parts to balance. The difference between temperatures gets balanced out, the wind balances out the difference in air pressure, an object that is thrown falls down toward the place where it will find balance with the force of gravity. The process is aimed at a balanced state everywhere and in every regard. In any area, be it chemistry, physics, biology, and so on, everything is built upon this principle. Everything aspires to equilibrium, to a relief of pressure. Everything submits to the law of entropy. Nature wishes to become appeased. It does not tolerate differences and fluctuations in any parameters.

Eventually, everything has to reach balance. And now the law of nature is demanding balance in human society. We see outbursts and disorder, and this is nature’s way of demanding balance. The still, vegetative, and animate levels have already had their turn, and now it’s the human level’s turn. The desire for balance is emerging within us, but becoming balanced among us means becoming “as one man with one heart.” We might all be different, but there is one criterion: We are all obligated to mutually support one another.

And there is nothing to be done about that: Whether we want it or not, nature will win because it is a tremendous force.

A question arises: Why won’t we disappear, like the mammoths and dinosaurs? Why don’t we just leave the stage like a part that doesn’t fit? After all, our discord with nature is much greater than that of the extinct dinosaurs. However, unlike them, we have a mission, a predestination, a goal: We have to correct ourselves and transform our initial nature. They were unable to do that and they disappeared with the natural course of evolution, whereas we are obligated to bring ourselves into balance with the current phase of development.

That is why we are brought to states where our lack of harmony with nature will become expressed in the gravest forms, but it won’t get to total extinction. 90% of the world might disappear, but some people will remain nevertheless in order to change human nature and reach the necessary balance.

This is the goal and we have no other way to go.
