The Zohar, Chapter “Pekudei (Accounts),” Item 763: The ark of the covenant in the seventh palace receives everything from the righteous, Yesod de ZA de Atzilut. Afterwards the souls come out from the ark of the covenant and enter the righteous below, in the first palace, Yesod. Subsequently, they come out from the righteous below and clothe in people. After their demise, they enter the ark of the covenant in the seventh palace so all the souls will be included from above, from Bina, the seventh palace, and from below, from the Yesod of the palaces, to be complete on all sides.

We must try to ascribe forms of unity, types of the connection between us to each word, action, and concept that we read about in The Book of Zohar. After all, there is nothing except that. It’s all about the extent and form of the connection between parts of the single soul, which for now The Zohar designates with all kinds of names, actions, and types of the relationship between us.

But essentially, all of this is designed to direct us to the only state where there are no parts, but only one desire in the unified Light. Thus we need to imagine everything that we read about in The Zohar as one system.

Question: Even while reading The Book of Zohar, my thoughts roam about in different directions. How can I always keep the goal in mind?

Answer: We are inside of a force field with forces deliberately drawing us in different directions. But this happens precisely in order for us to connect them in one direction, to bring them to a single reality with our own efforts.

Therefore, this is how we should view our states, which are often confused and unstable because they are all intended to awaken us to search for a force that’s higher than these opposite forces that awaken within us, so this one force would rule over them. It’s so we could unite them and bring them together as the proper combination of constituents to the spiritual reality.

If we find a higher force that forms the entire picture for us, this will already be a higher level than our state. Therefore, on one hand, I must favorably accept these different states, thoughts, desires, and this entire confusion while understanding that I am receiving all of this data to work with, like blocks that I have to put together correctly.

Now every person must find for himself what kind of force, principle, and attitude he can use to properly unite all of these disturbances so they will go from being disturbances to components of the same spiritual picture that he wishes to attain.

In reality there are no disturbances. They are all desires that are not properly connected into one desire and therefore seem superfluous to us. But that is not so. Each of them, with its aspiration to the opposite direction, deliberately points to the lack of our direction to the single force that includes everyone, the upper level, the force of the Creator.

It is written that we need to yearn to know what we are studying. To know is to connect, as it is written: “And Adam knew his wife Eve.” We want to discover, to establish connection with the forces and states that The Zohar talks about. We want to be in them.

We don’t know what they are in and of themselves, but we want to discover ourselves within them since they are the advanced states of our connection, of the formation of the general Kli (vessel or desire).

And then, out of the desire to connect to these forces and states, according to the measure of the collective aspiration, we discover the Light that Reforms. It comes closer to us to the extent that we yearn for it.

The Zohar, Chapter “Pekudei (Accounts),” Item 528: When a person passes away from this world, this animal comes out on four flying seraphim. They fly in front of him and it does not let all those evokers of judgment and sentence approach him. There are several messengers of peace around him, which are the seraphim. When they travel and are seen, those serpents and seraphim that come out of the serpent, who caused death to the entire world, surrender.

The snake, the beasts, and the angels, all of these are inner forces of the level lower than that of man. We are speaking here of the form in which these forces and inclinations come forth from each one of us, how with their help we connect between us, between all the souls, and gradually create a network between us, which becomes more and more corrected and thus comes closer and closer to the real Malchut of Infinity that always serves us as a criterion. Thus in all of these actions, we need to see the forces of connection between us.

The Zohar, Chapter “Pekudei (Accounts),” Item 525: These are the seraphim with six wings, which sanctify their Master three times a day. They are meticulous with the righteous as a hair’s breadth, and are poised to punish—in this world and in the next world—those who slight the man from whom they learned even a single matter in the Torah and are not respectful of him…

When we begin to ascend from this world to the levels of spiritual connection, our relationships receive these holy names either from the side of goodness or the side of evil. Either I love or I hate, and there are thousands of names that stem from my love or hatred: angels, seraphim, demons, and spirits, which came from the left or the right side, either out of hatred or love, and the connections between them.

All in all, two forces are being spoken about. After all, there is nothing except the force of reception and the force of bestowal. It is only that in our world we somehow find simple names for them, using the spoken language. But in spirituality they have exact names, according to the actions they perform, the forces and the coarseness (Aviut) of desire, which they activate, and according to the results they bring.

But all in all, the two forms of our relations are spoken about here: attraction and rejection, connection and separation. And between them there is our free choice, our exertion and efforts in using these two forces in order to continually strengthen our spiritual Kli (vessel), until all the forces of the shattering reveal the connection between us, which is 620 times greater than it was before the shattering.
