Treasure Every Drop Of Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanNo matter how many efforts a person puts forth and what discernments or actions he performs, he has an infinite number of possibilities to make a mistake if he doesn’t hold onto the authentic source that passes the Light onto him.

He will not even know that he is making a mistake. Regardless of his rung, he will be like “a man who is lost in the field” or “a wandering donkey in the field” (the desire to receive pleasure). One needs to have an admiration for the greatness of the source of the Light. Only with its help we can discern our state, determine the correct direction, and steer.

The Light arranges and turns all of this for us, while we don’t know what rung we are at. In the spiritual world we always advance from state to state without any understanding where we currently are. This is because we always rise from the desire to receive pleasure to the desire for bestowal. We change our intention, and therefore, we can never know what is ahead of us even the tiniest step.

This advancement is possible only through faith above reason. Only the Light can take you if you grab it and fulfill the conditions given to you. This is the essence of all our work (raising MAN, prayer) when we prepare all conditions, all our wishes and abilities, so afterward we would hand everything to the upper Light with full confidence that He will do everything.

This requires a lot of effort from us, but in the end all of this is the work of the Light and therefore it is called the work of the Creator.

This is why it is necessary to treat The Book of Zohar with respect as much as possible. Although certainly this will never be enough since a person is incapable to really appreciate this upper radiance called Zohar. However, try to value each word as if you receive from it one more portion of medicine, one more drop of infusion, which pours the elixir of life into you.

The “Physicists” And “Lyricists” Of Spirituality

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: The Rabash wrote articles about the group wanting us to think about love of friends. I understand the Rabbi Aba wrote The Zohar in a concealed manner for historical reasons. But why do we, who want to think about love of friends while reading The Zohar, leave it the way it is and don’t simplify it at least to the level of the Rabash’s articles?

Answer: Suppose I come to an expert and ask him to tune the colors on my computer screen. He sees the display on the screen and says: “Okay, I will tune it, please sit and wait.” I look at him: he enters the “internality” of the computer and starts playing with the pixels and the codes there, which I don’t understand at all. Suddenly I see certain forms on the screen, lines of codes and numbers…”What are you doing? I asked you to make the yellow a bit more yellowish and the white whiter, so why are you dealing with the numbers? I didn’t ask you to do that!”

But since he understands what he has to change exactly, he goes into the level of the forces and defines each force and each vector, and what it should be in relation to the others and thus changes the picture.

You seem to be asking: Why does one Kabbalist write about colors and another about numbers? Each one expresses the same reality in a different way. Actually, the language of numbers, the Reshimot (reminiscences), meaning the language of Kabbalah, as Baal HaSulam says, covers everything. In spirituality there are only forces: the force of receiving, the force of bestowal and the Reshimot. There is nothing else but that.

After that you are already impressed in your own desires, one way or another and another person is impressed differently. The main thing is to record your impressions and each one writes them according to his character. There are “the lyric poets” and there are the “physicists” just like in our world.

It Is All A Matter Of Intention

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Today an expert has to study his whole life in order to “catch up” with the changes in his field. One way or another, science discovers accurate absolute laws. Do such laws exist for those who yearn for spirituality? For example, are there clear, unchanging formulas without which we will not attain our goal?

Answer: What are you actually studying in the lessons? We can describe our egoistic desire as a “box.” This is the material. Above it there is the intention of in order to receive, and that is the problem. The material of the desire is stable, unchanging. It is only the intention that changes by changing all of our reality.

So ignore the material, it is unchangeable. But if you change the intention, then the feeling within the material will change drastically. You will be able to do that only by evoking it to change.

Today we fill ourselves by the egoistic intention. It is among us in our mutual relations. The desire to receive is aimed at itself; it wants to receive in order to receive. As a result, we all feel reality in the form of “this world.”

There are five phases between the intention of in order to receive and the intention of in order to bestow, or 125 steps. It is only about the intention! If I learn to use it correctly, a greater desire is revealed time after time. This is how I transcend the “Machsom” (barrier), I restrict myself by keeping myself from treating others badly, then I build a good attitude towards others, and then I bestow upon them. Then it turns out that others, and in fact the whole “field of work,” is actually myself that is gradually revealed to me.

All this is according to the stabilization of the intention. There is nothing we should worry about except the intention. The only remedy is to evoke among us a concealed internal power that will change our intention. Then, gradually, in our environment, we will discover the worlds of Assyia, Yetzira, Beria, Atzilut, Adam Kadmon, and the world of Ein Sof. We will discover them here, among us, and not somewhere in unknown distances.

I should only discover an attraction, a vector inside my desire that is aimed at changing the attitude to others, which is the intention. Let’s hope we succeed in preparing and doing that in the Arava convention in the desert.
