Question: At the December convention, will it be possible to make a huge leap in the inner worlds?

Answer: We do not make a leap at the convention, but we go from our lowest state, which does not even have a name and does not belong to the spiritual ladder, to the first degree on it. This is not a leap.

We have to understand the difference between our preliminary work, which takes place before we step onto the ladder of the spiritual degrees, and work on these degrees. The preliminary work is very group-oriented. I include myself in others, they influence me and I influence them. I don’t have my own spiritual individuality yet. I don’t exist as a spiritual individual yet.

Therefore, if I include myself into thousands of people who are around me, I receive their opinions, desires and forces, and like in our world I use the capabilities that society has, which enables me to reduce my path a great deal. It’s analogous to taking an uneducated person from the jungle and teaching him to be a prince, like in the musical My Fair Lady.

We can all receive support from the common brain and the common heart, from our inclusion in one another. When I become included in the general field that others create and in which all Kabbalists of past generations take part, all souls, the entire common soul, then I receive the forces enabling me to make the leap.

It turns out that others worked for 20 years to attain the spiritual level while I came just a couple of years ago (or maybe 3 or 4 years ago, since every person requires a minimal time period), yet everything depends on my desire. I can become included in this common unity and ascend together with everyone.

There is a saying that goes, “Ask Me and I will render,” which means we can receive the spiritual state in advance and pay for it afterwards. This is possible.

But when a person already starts rising up the spiritual levels, a more individual development occurs there. Even though it also presupposes mutual inclusion with others, there a person starts consciously working with the Light and discerning desires.

Therefore, those who do not have spiritual attainment yet can adhere to society the way a small child holds on to an adult. Everything depends on a person’s efforts: He has the opportunity to participate in the convention and enter spirituality by virtue of the whole system.

Similarly, we also don’t repeat the corrections that the great people of the past generations completed. We are like little children they lift in their arms, allowing us to rise even higher. We are standing upon the platform they created.

And the same thing will happen with the beginners who join us at the convention: They will receive the same kind of support from us, from their “previous generations.”

Baal HaSulam, “Mutual Guarantee” (abridged version): Once the whole nation agreed, they became guarantors…

What is the meaning of this nation-wide agreement? Did every person just shout out like a child, “I want!” Or do we have to understand where we are going and how far?

That is why this world was given to us, showing us all the clear examples of caring for the neighbor. I see how repulsive all of this is to me, yet I unite with others because I have to, not having any other solution in a time of peril or when I really need them.

Once the entire nation agreed, they became guarantors that no citizen will be deprived of what he needs.

Mutual guarantee by itself gives us energy. By the same principle, at the end of correction we increase the Light’s abundance by 620 times compared to what was there at the beginning of creation. Stated differently, instead of a very fine line that was filled only by the tiny Light of Hochma, we receive an entire circle in which the Light of Hochma pours, clothed in the Light of Hassadim, infinitely filling everyone to the depth and breadth of the mutual unification. When this happens, every person adds his part to others and becomes included in everyone himself.

So where does this miraculous addition come from? It comes from the fact that we involve the force of mutual guarantee, the force of mutual inclusion. By virtue of the breaking, the vessels were prepared to become included in one another, and now, in spite of our egoism, we must evoke this inclusion, this mutual guarantee, in practice. The resistance of our egoism and our ability to overcome by means of the Light that reforms, which leads to unity, create an inner pressure inside the vessel, a resistance, like in a resistor. The force of egoism inside of us constantly resists unity, while we stand above it and become tightly locked in all of the connecting points.

Eventually, the negative and positive forces that separate and connect us come together in one channel. That is how we attain a 620-fold increase of power.

Today we barely provide enough food for half of humanity. About a third of it has limited food, and another third is starving. But there is no doubt that by realizing the mutual guarantee, we will end up with the same abundance that the spies discovered when they were first sent to Israel and discovered a “land flowing with milk and honey.” It will suddenly become clear that there is no need for material investment because fulfillment is provided by the Light. Vitamins, minerals, calories, and everything else are vestments of the Light, which disappear to the extent we clear them away.

We always aspire to extract the maximum energy conversion efficiency from the energy resources. But here, what we have at our disposal is the Light, without any material vestment. That is an energy incomparably more powerful, which supports all of matter. Instead of fairy-tales about an eternal engine, we truly acquire an eternal energy resource.

Baal HaSulam, “Mutual Guarantee” (abridged version): Mutual guarantee means that all of Israel became guarantors for one another.

“Israel” means “straight to the Creator” (Yashar El). This is every person who has a spark of spiritual desire given to him from above. Besides the desires for food, sex, family, money, honor, power, and knowledge, he feels one more desire, which belongs to a higher dimension. This desire sends him off to search for the meaning in life, its source and essence. If a person has this spark above the material, earthly desires, then he aspires “straight to the Creator” because this urge directs him toward the source of life and of all reality.

If people want to grow their spiritual desire, they have to unite. After all, this urge can only be developed by means of bestowal, by ascending above the material desires in which only our material reality is felt. Standards of food, sex, family, money, honor, power, and knowledge form the picture of this world for me and require the fulfillment of the corresponding desires, whose various combinations differentiate people from one another. However, the spark of the upper desire develops according to the opposite tendency: above the material desires and in spite of them.

The “bestowal” to which this spark aims us is just a term, underlining that here we operate differently, not the way we do in the earthly desires. We have to rise above them and satisfy them only on the level of vital necessity, while in all other regards we develop the spark, the embryo of our soul, the part of the Creator from above.

Thus, a person who has such a spark is called “Israel,” and the means to develop it is called “mutual guarantee.” That is why all of Israel are initially guarantors for one another in the upper system. And in our world we have to realize this state, but we are invited to do this by our own desire, without anyone being forced to do anything.

The Torah was given only once every person from Israel agreed to accept the principle of love for the neighbor as for himself.

People who are able to unite their desires get together, having awakened to the source and purpose of life. In their unity, they must attain love for the neighbor as for themselves. Previously they wanted to satisfy their own desires for food, sex, family, money, honor, and knowledge, but now to the same extent and in the same form, they take care of their neighbor, wishing to provide him with everything necessary for spiritual ascent.

This means we have to take care of every friend’s vital necessities, and in all other regards—of his spiritual path. I build all of the support systems for him and provide him with all the means which allow him to attain what he desires.

As a result, everyone takes care of one another’s vital needs and of each other’s spiritual needs. I wanted to provide myself with the necessities, but now I take care of the friend the same way. I naturally wanted to fill my soul, but now I care only about the friend’s soul. I looked for personal profit in everything and used others for it, but now I have to make a 180 degree turn with regard to my friends and switch to their vital needs, both spiritual and material.

Thus, by means of mutual guarantee, all of Israel have to attain love for the neighbor as for oneself. That is how they form a single, whole vessel to the extent of the desire that becomes revealed in them, and according to the equivalence of form, they feel the general bestowal, mutual love in that vessel. And above that love they feel its Creator—the source of the level on which their vessel with the Light filling it is found.

Question: Even while reading The Book of Zohar, my thoughts roam about in different directions. How can I always keep the goal in mind?

Answer: We are inside of a force field with forces deliberately drawing us in different directions. But this happens precisely in order for us to connect them in one direction, to bring them to a single reality with our own efforts.

Therefore, this is how we should view our states, which are often confused and unstable because they are all intended to awaken us to search for a force that’s higher than these opposite forces that awaken within us, so this one force would rule over them. It’s so we could unite them and bring them together as the proper combination of constituents to the spiritual reality.

If we find a higher force that forms the entire picture for us, this will already be a higher level than our state. Therefore, on one hand, I must favorably accept these different states, thoughts, desires, and this entire confusion while understanding that I am receiving all of this data to work with, like blocks that I have to put together correctly.

Now every person must find for himself what kind of force, principle, and attitude he can use to properly unite all of these disturbances so they will go from being disturbances to components of the same spiritual picture that he wishes to attain.

In reality there are no disturbances. They are all desires that are not properly connected into one desire and therefore seem superfluous to us. But that is not so. Each of them, with its aspiration to the opposite direction, deliberately points to the lack of our direction to the single force that includes everyone, the upper level, the force of the Creator.

Question: What’s the right way to enter the convention and what should its result be?

Answer: In order for the convention to produce good results, everyone has to be “burning” with anticipation and inspiration. Everyone has to feel the strongest “hunger” for unity, in which the upper force that reigns among us will be revealed. It is written, “I dwell within my nation.” This is the preparation to the convention.

As a result of it, we should really reveal the force of our unity, reveal the upper Light in practice, the energy of the interconnection between us—not in emotions, but in real sensation. This will be the real Light, with a specific level of Aviut, with a specific mechanism of connection between us.

By feeling out these qualities, we begin to reveal something beyond our bodies, to reveal in new vessels, in a new perception. Then we will detach from the body and will enter a reality existing outside of the flesh. That is how we will enter the human dimension.

Let us hope that this will happen! Let’s get to work!

Baal HaSulam, “The Love for the Creator and Love for the Created Beings”: …when teaching the young, the women and the illiterate, they are taught to work out of fear and in order to be rewarded…

“The young” are people who haven’t learned wisdom yet. “The women” are those who do not have the force of the screen. “The illiterate” are those who understand only their own earthly, egoistic desire. And they are taught accordingly, in conformity to the reality. A person is not required to do something he is incapable of. He is promised a reward, “You will be well off. Just act and absorb others’ hopes that a special force will come and correct you, that it will unite you with others and by virtue of that, you will find yourself in the world of goodness.”

Now we must also conduct mass dissemination by the same principle, responding to people’s current desires. “Do you want to have money, honor, power, knowledge, a good life, health, a pension, and a vacation? Excellent. You will receive all of that if you unite.” They do not have to know about the Light that reforms because they do not have a point in the heart that originates from it. Therefore, in our explanations, we stop at mutual guarantee. But in reality, it is not what will solve all the problems; they will be solved by the Light that we will evoke when we aspire to the mutual guarantee. It will carry out all the changes for the better.

…until they accumulate knowledge and gain wisdom. Then they are told that secret little by little…

They will understand that bestowal in and of itself is the greatest and most important thing in the world. There is nothing more important than bestowal. There is no pleasure greater than being in pure bestowal, when its Light fulfills me. This is expressed instinctively in motherly love. And this secret is revealed by none other than the Light.

…and they are accustomed to that matter with ease until they attain and know Him and serve Him with love.

By virtue of multiple, repeated actions, the Lights influence the vessels and train them, meaning bring a different nature into them. In spirituality there is no pressure or compulsion. At every phase, everything is built only upon understanding, realization, and attainment. After all, the issue at hand is man’s formation.

Eventually, everyone will rise to the upper one, including those who are completely not disposed to that. After all, by virtue of the breaking, they have a part of the spiritual spark and therefore they can join the common work as parts of one body. Every cell in it carries out its own function, which is irreplaceable.

There are different parts in The Book of Zohar, and we do not know which ones are more effective, and which ones are less. But it is not for us to judge and understand it; this will be revealed only later. That is why The Book of Zohar was not written in one sentence, which could be repeated all the time like some mantra. On the contrary, the Book describes the whole relationship that exists between us from this world and to the world of Infinity, in various forms and manifestations for every soul.

This is called the “Torah” (from the word “Oraa” or “instruction”) because it reveals before us the entire network of connection between all the souls in its corrected form. It describes the desire (vessel) in which the Light is revealed. By revealing the Light, the vessel becomes similar to it in its properties, and that is why it is called the “Torah.” Therefore, when you evoke its actions through this vessel, you receive the Light that Reforms.

All that is written in all the “holy” books (“holy” means “the one who bestows”) is the forms of connection between us, which Kabbalists attained. But what they did not attain was not written, and we will discover this together. They attained this in their personal final correction.

Therefore, everyone updates and writes the Torah himself. And the Torah of one person is not like the Torah of the other because everyone’s desire (vessel) is different, and thus he reveals the form of connection from his angle, from his spiritual spark, the point in the heart, relative to the entire vessel of the collective soul. That is why everyone writes a new Torah for himself and does not reveal the same.

Moses described the general system. But when a person reaches this general system, the general network of connection, and activates it by his desire, his personal involvement, he sees that it sparkles and works the way he sees and reveals it. He does not reveal what happens the way that King Solomon, King David, Rabbi Shimon, Rabbi Akiva, Baal HaSulam, the Ari, and so on did it. He discloses it from his desire (vessel), and he does not have the possibility to dress in somebody else’s vessel. No one can do this.

And what we attain later, we attain due to the unity between us. No one penetrates the spiritual spark of the other. But in unity, all our sparks are so connected that they all seem to reside in one spark.

This does not mean that someone is closer to me, and someone is further like in the field of network. On the contrary, we are so united with each other that this network loses its multidimensional form, and we become one point. If you are connected to everyone via the shortest path, directly, everything turns into one point, one drop. Let us hope that we will achieve such unity.

Question: A few days ago we held a wonderful dissemination action of giving out newspapers. People immediately started reading them with great interest, which made us extremely happy. How can we retain that happiness and bring it to the December convention?

Answer: We are living in a big world which is rushing toward a new state. People are starting to understand that something has gone awry even though they’re not exactly sure what that is. Every person is yelling about his own concerns, and that is natural. That is how we are built: From the youngest age, we do not even suspect what we are really crying about. People are sounding calls for equality and social justice; the only problem is that everyone has their own idea of justice.

However, the pressure will continue growing and expanding. We will see how the relationships between nations and civilizations will add fuel to the fire and it will get even hotter.

For us, this is a completely clear sign that we have to start acting. With time, people won’t simply wait for new materials from us. They will feel that Light is flowing here, that this is where life lingers. Right now they are inspired by the lively, warm, smart words that are helping them figure out what is happening and to gain at least a slight understanding of what they want, what they are yelling about. By reading about it, they are making an order of things inside of them. A person felt bad, and now he understands exactly what the problem is, what he should aspire to, and what he should be watchful of.

In essence, we are “formatting” or building people from within. But this is only good for a start. Back in your day you were also brought to Kabbalah by a certain inexplicable desire. But then comes a period when the Light has to appear. It is what will bring the changes. We cannot drag this out for too long because otherwise the Light will become revealed in the opposite form, as disasters, epidemics, and other catastrophes on a global scale. A long time ago, the prophets wrote about how dangerous this path is.

Therefore, we have to take care of the Light that reforms. This Light only comes from unity, which does not exist in our world. After all, we are animals, but if we unite the points in our hearts, not our bodies, but precisely these particles of the Creator, our spiritual aspirations, if we try to weld them into one, then we evoke the Light that reforms. It is contained or concealed inside of this unity.

Once this Light appears, it will unite us. Then our dissemination will shift to a new level. It will no longer be newspapers and websites, but we will become revealed in people from within. Without understanding why, they will start asking questions about mutual guarantee and Kabbalah, and will start to look for us under the guiding influence of the Light. You came to the group accidentally, as it were, and likewise, they too will turn around, not exactly in our direction, but in the right direction nevertheless.

The world is moving forward more and more swiftly. And that is a huge mass of people. On one hand, they are feeling worse and worse, and on the other, a good solution is starting to take shape before them. Therefore, the upcoming convention will have to unite our points and reveal the Light which will pour out of us like a spring of living water and fill the whole world. That is exactly what we must achieve.

We have to prepare in such a way that the convention will become a flash of Light, a breakthrough of the spiritual force which will aim the world toward goodness with one blow. Then we will immediately feel how the world is changing, right during the days of the convention and onward.

The world is standing at the threshold of a dramatic rise in unemployment. Millions will be thrown to the curb without the slightest opportunity to find a job so they could put bread on the table. A new source of income has to be made available to them—integral study.

We must understand that by attracting the Light that reforms, by acting for the sake of common unity, by studying the laws of the new world and the principles of life in it, a person deserves to have the minimum conditions for a respectable existence provided for him. This enables him to become a positive and necessary part of society.

We have already contacted people who make decisions, offering them this path. A person who was laid off cannot be left to his own devices at home or thrown to the whim of fate. This will make him cruel, besides turning him into a bum who will never be able to go back to work. Having no other choice, he will resort to drugs, criminal activity, and so on. If we don’t keep people busy, things will escalate to a social collapse.

In this regard we have to understand that the new activity, studying, will be the correction. It is simply necessary for us to have people sit down at the desk to study. This is not a pittance by any means nor a chance to “kill time,” but a social function that is necessary to all. In essence, the people who are studying will already begin working on society’s rehabilitation, and that is exactly how we will treat them as well.

And those who keep their jobs should also be involved in the study. Maybe they will split their working hours with the people who were laid off, and then everyone will be able to study for half a day. This routine has to be instituted lawfully. After all, we are all a single society and we all want social justice. That means we have to distribute our time justly: Work is divided among everyone, and so is the study, and on average, everyone receives similar salaries.

Life itself is dictating this approach to us. It is impossible to continue chasing the “American dream.” It has already come crashing down and it’s time for us to wake up.

Question: Is this kind of study enough to solve all the problems?

Answer: Yes. After all, it’s not simply a study, but various types of training, as well as a connection to the current events and phenomena, an explanation of the single world and the need for a good interconnection. A person learns to unite with others and starts to understand that by virtue of that, we awaken the forces concealed within us. They are already contained in the integral society and they will bring the necessary order to it. With their help, we will obtain the same qualities as nature and will stop being a faulty, antagonistic appendage in it. We will go from being a cancerous tumor to an integral part, thereby attaining unity and rehabilitation of the whole world.

Unity is our salvation. Only by uniting will we attain results. Today we are discovering the fact that human society is a single whole, and we must consciously go along with this tendency from our own desire. It’s time to understand that there is no other way to go.

Baal HaSulam says that this does not involve anything more than a psychological difficulty. A person is unable to change himself from within: It’s easy to turn this lever, but hard to reach it. However, as soon as he grabs hold of it, the world will change to the opposite with one movement.

Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: …the whole difficulty lies in changing our nature from a desire to receive for ourselves, to a desire to bestow upon others, since those two things deny one another. At first glance, the plan seems imaginary….

We aren’t really aware of this difficulty yet. Ask people on the street and they will tell you, “What’s so difficult about it? We know how to help others.” Some admit that egoism is inherent to human nature in some sense, but no more than that. None of us yet feel the need, the necessity to go from reception to bestowal.

However, eventually the crisis will show us that we simply have to do this since otherwise we won’t survive. We will even lose what we now have and will finish ourselves off. Out of having no other choice, we are nevertheless starting to analyze the situation: Do we or don’t we have a chance to unite into a common system as Nature demands of us? Maybe we are incapable of meeting this condition and are doomed to die?

After all, this is a possibility. Once upon a time the dinosaurs were unable to adapt to the new conditions, and now we too have found ourselves in a similar situation. Right before our very eyes many species of plants and animals are disappearing. So maybe the human species is also destined to disappear? Reasoning objectively, we inhabit a small planet at the outskirts of the galaxy and possibly, by nature’s plan we have to make way for another species with greater potential and importance that will suit the large-scale picture better.

Thus, we are beginning to figure out the situation: Our nature is egoistic, while nature is setting a condition of mutual bestowal for us and requiring us to unite into one single whole. This demand of the common system will be expressed more and more clearly. Jammed between the desired and the reality, we are experience great pressure upon us.

That’s when the science of Kabbalah comes to our rescue, as if coming down on us “from above.” If we did not have this method enabling us to evoke the force of correction and ascend to a new level, then we really would die out like the dinosaurs because we would not have the slightest idea of what is happening and what nature’s program really is like.

Its condition does not seem realistic at first. We cannot unite. Then what should we do? The only course of action left is to wage wars and conflicts. When man has no choice, he is capable of anything. His only wish is to put an end to the doubts. We cannot tolerate uncertainty. It’s better to start a war or even die. Then we are at least moving somewhere, and that’s the most important thing. Since we made this decision, then it doesn’t even matter whether we will survive or not—the process has begun. This is much easier than wandering aimlessly in a fog. Uncertainty tears us apart and we cannot bear that.

That is why in our time the science of Kabbalah is being revealed to the world. It is being revealed “artificially,” from above, through a lineage of Kabbalists, by means of a certain parallel program. On the path of the natural development, we would not have been able to discover it and carry out the correction. After all, in the current situation, the transition from reception to bestowal really does appear unrealistic.
