New Life 209 – Parenting Teenagers, Part 2

New Life 209 – Parenting Teenagers, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

The role of the parent is in setting boundaries for the child and helping them develop their own limits. In order to teach the child, the parent must speak constantly, in the presence of the child, that is, to describe aloud what he thinks, feels, and does. The child thus perceives the parent’s attitude to everything in life, and learns to know the limits himself. There is a time and a place for the parent to be firm and serious while always maintaining a sense of togetherness and friendship.

New Life 208 – Parenting Teenagers, Part 1

New Life 208 – Parenting Teenagers, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

They key to parenting teenagers is to put them in a good, round environment. Parents need to find external sources of influence that will be respected in the eyes of the teen like a big brother or a slightly older friend. It is best if the environment holds the teen’s positive boundaries. The parent must not play with the child’s trust and must make every effort not to seem evil in his eyes. There is no punishment. The parent gives the message “I am with you.” The youth must feel a sense of shame that arises from within. This is how he will learn to escape from shame and attain dignity.

New Life 207 – Parental Authority

New Life 207 – Parental Authority
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

As the world is becoming integral and connected, how will we create parental authority and how will we teach our children to manage it in their lives? Parents have authority if their children see them as wise and knowledgeable regarding how to navigate today’s connected, integral world. The integral approach to educating children doesn’t preach morality but brings children to self-awareness by providing them with a positive example. Parents need to show that they are like children themselves in relation to society, nature, the world, and the higher power.

New Life 205 – The Role Of The Parent, Part 1

New Life 205 – The Role Of The Parent, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

The role of the parent is to teach the child the wisdom of life, how to connect with others. Children learn best through positive example. Parents should arrange weekly family meetings in which everyone shares and strives for agreement. This creates a common feeling in the center of the family and, as a result, each family member has a sense of belonging to this small society which anchors them in life. Each child must be aware that devotion to the family is above everything else in life.

New Life 204 – Family In The New World

New Life 204 – Family In The New World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

What are the reasons for the breakdown of human society? Is it possible to achieve constant happiness and fulfillment in our lives, and how is it possible to enjoy the family again? Building the concept of family between us depends on each and every one of the family members; all are equal in this. Each one participates in his or her part, otherwise a family would not be built. Each one gives to the whole according to his ability. The essence of the wisdom of life is in developing the ability to connect with other people. Whoever has acquired the ability to connect with others at home will succeed everywhere in gathering people around him.

New Life 192 – The Foundation Of Education In Jewish Culture, Part 2

New Life 192 – The Foundation Of Education In Jewish Culture, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Building an environment that will support the values toward which we want our children to be drawn is of primary importance. When a person learns alone, his ego educates him. When we learn in a small group, we become like one, strong, intelligent, sensitive, inclusive network of consideration and love. Integral education in a group imparts global wisdom, the wisdom of connection. The goal of this type of education is to bring each person to feel that the whole world belongs to him so that he will relate to the world as he does to himself. All children will be as one but the uniqueness of each child will be maintained. This produces tremendous wealth. The child will always succeed, knowing who he is, what he is about, and why he is alive. The map of life will be opened before him.

New Life 191 – The Foundation Of Education In Jewish Culture, Part 1

New Life 191 – The Foundation Of Education In Jewish Culture, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Education is the only means for transforming us into complete people. The entire Torah is education: It is about how a person must relate to himself, to the still, the vegetative, the animate and to the human. The image of a perfected person toward which education aims precedes the religious or secular form. This is the source. The Torah requires of us to love everything outside of us. It is impossible to achieve such love without education because our nature is its opposite. Education is only by example, not by suppression. Teach and be an example, because words in and of themselves do not help.

New Life 190 – Returning To The Garden Of Eden

New Life 190 – Returning To The Garden Of Eden
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

The beginning of creation in the Garden of Eden is a harmonious system of connected parts, which lack freedom of choice. Creation develops from two imbalanced forces, plus and minus, which are opposites and connect with each other. These forces develop through six stages until humanity becomes the “proprietor of the Garden of Eden.” Today, we have reached a dead end since we cannot fill ourselves no matter what we do. We need to realize that we lack the positive force that will balance the negative force. This positive force can be found through communication with each other, in the connection between us. If we devote ourselves to locating and developing this force, we will return to the Garden of Eden, paradise, and acquire infinite fulfillment.
