Sensing The Invisible Network

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should we think about all together, the entire world group, when we hold a Unity Day? How can we unite?

Answer: Every person has to delve into himself and there to feel the chain that connects him with others, the inner net that exists between us. Moreover, a person can be in this world or he might no longer be in it because this is a network between desires, between the souls and not the physical bodies.

Baal HaSulam and all the great Kabbalists of the past millennia are here, in this connection. They are all together with us, embedded in our common net. There are millions of us today, but in reality, there are many more because all of these souls throughout all of human history are together with us, amounting to hundreds of millions of souls. And all together they are a tremendous spiritual force.

If we wish to unite together in this net, then naturally not only will we influence each other and become part of this net so every person will acquire it for his own spiritual ascent, but we will simultaneously influence all the people in the world, who are tuned into this net involuntarily, without sensing it. We will start to awaken them.

Therefore, let’s start by reaching an agreement among us that we desire to clearly feel our common connection.

My “I” Section

Dr. Michael LaitmanBy becoming a giver I become like Zeir Anpin who fills Malchut and receive double from the upper one, from Bina: for myself and for the others. I become filled above the desires of others that are being revealed; I receive everyone’s needs, an infinite spiritual desire. This is my vessel.

But I myself am like Zeir Anpin, just a point that connects Bina and this desire. I am the section between them. However, I only see it as a section now. This is because the lower ones have the desire and the upper one has the Lights. Thus the “section” is my intention. I expand my point through their desires and His Lights, by “consuming” all Lights and desires.

This gives birth to a new vessel which did not exist before. And all I had was a point, a preliminary foundation, a needle’s eye which we use to enter the new world, the vessel of infinity.

On its own, the receiving desire is not a vessel, and the Light is just the Light. When I discover the world of Infinity, which supposedly has also existed before, or return to the third (also the initial) state, I reveal a new vessel that is 620 times greater than the previous one. This is because I have acquired both the Lights and desires myself. Now my vessel is 620 times greater. It’s me.

My Role In The Group

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should be my role in the group: Zeir Anpin or Malchut? Or both of them?

Answer: You need to fulfill your friends with all your strength. This is the main commandment of the Torah: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” I am not Malchut, I am Zeir Anpin. My only wish is to receive desires from everyone and fulfill them.

Then who represents Malchut? I play the role of Malchut before my friends in order to receive from them the strength for bestowal. This is a different channel of interconnection. I receive from them the strength to be the giver, and then I rise above them to bestow to them. The cells in the body interact the same way: Every cell receives from others and bestows to them.

Turning To The Creator To Get Light For The Friend

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah starts with the condition of loving another as yourself. Under this condition a person comes from love for the other to love for the Creator and reaches adhesion. And adhesion with the upper force is the purpose of creation that we have to reach.

Granted, we cannot talk about this when we’re disseminating to the masses. We hide this part in the same way that we do not tell children the entire truth about our world all at once. We gradually, as much as it is possible, disclose the truth to the parts of desire or the people who are not ready to hear it in full. We tell them what they can accept, what is close to them, and what will benefit them. And then, as they grow, we reveal to them more and more.

According to the principle of love for the other, I should come to a state when all desires of another become more important and greater to me than my own. I use my desires, my forces, to service the other, in order to fulfill his desires.

Indeed, we are built in such a way that we can fulfill the desires of the other by means of our own desires, but only through the Creator. I have nothing to give to others, but if I turn to the Creator in order to satisfy the desires of another, my vessel will suddenly appear to be designed precisely for this: to establish a connection with the Creator and receive from Him what I intend to give to the other.

Thus, the action starts from the other whose desires I want to accept as my own, above myself, to raise his desires along with my own to the Creator, to receive forces and fulfillment from Him, and give them to the other.

This reminds us about what we study during the lessons: Malchut ascends to Zeir Anpin and rises together with him to Bina. They are also called two brothers; one of them is the first born who takes twice as much in order to grow up and be ready to perform a Zivug (coupling) that will allow carrying the Light to the lower one. This is what happens in our relationships as well. All the souls act in this manner.

Thus, anyone who bestows to the other takes the form of Zeir Anpin. And everyone who receives takes the form of Malchut, Shechina, which connects to Zeir Anpin, to the upper one, the giving friend. Thus, we actualize the theory which we study during the lessons on The Study of the Ten Sefirot.

Expansion Is In Bestowal

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I address the Creator to help me with bestowal to a fellow human being. Could you please describe this in more scientific language because, essentially, the Creator is the law of nature?

Answer: As we know, Malchut should cancel itself before Zeir Anpin (ZA). Then, ZA accepts its desire, and their desires rise together to the mother, to Bina. In response, Bina has to give Zeir Anpin an adult state (so that ZA grows up) as well as the Light for Malchut.

This is what the giver attains. If you ever really want to give to your friend, you will get twice as much. What you give him will create an adult state in you, a higher status, so that you produce your friend’s degree and give it to him.

For him, you will be great spiritually; you will be the giver. In this role, you receive new desires from him, and from Above, you get fulfillment. Thus, you constantly “expand” by receiving desires from others and the Light from Above.

This is what it means to be the giver. However, you “expand” in your vessels of bestowal. Here, a psychological transformation is hidden. How can you grow bigger in bestowal? Where is the profit? How do I fulfill myself? What fills me up?

Our problem is that we do not feel much gain in the vessels of bestowal. But this is obvious from the graph.

My Good Environment – Dr. Laitman’s Advice for the Week

Ahead Of Nature

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, “Matan Torah (The Giving of the Torah)”: Thus, that creature develops and marches upward in degrees of the above spoken exaltedness, until he loses all remnants of self-love and all the commandments in his body rise, and he performs all his actions only to bestow, so even the necessity that he receives flows in the direction of bestowal, so he can bestow. This is why our sages said, “The commandments were given only to refine people with.”

Through the principle of “love thy friend as yourself,” we come to the end of the path: to adhesion. Whether we like it or not, we must achieve it. Our free choice is to move quickly, which we can do if we take advantage of the environment. Otherwise, nature will push us until it forces us into it—and we will want to move faster than nature anyway.

How do we advance? We advance due to internal development. How does it happen? It takes place because of “the Torah and commandments,” meaning the method of correction by which we have to refine ourselves. Of course, we are not talking about the external actions of this world. Baal HaSulam mentions an excerpt from the Gemara to make this clear to us: We are required to perform namely the internal correction of our qualities. This means that our interrelationships should be aimed exclusively at bestowal of the same height as that of the Creator.

How can it be achieved? It is done in stages. First, a person knows nothing, like a child who just started to grow. Then, he is gradually given explanations, and he understands more and more. Ultimately, everything depends on the environment, on explanations, on the efforts that are applied during his education, and on his own efforts when he practices the assigned tasks.

In essence, a person is taught to be in the environment and to use it correctly, according to the principle: “I created the evil inclination, and I created the Torah as a spice.” The evil inclination is revealed namely in the environment; there is no other possibility.

Besides that, it requires the Torah as “a spice,” meaning the Light that Reforms. A person feels evil relative to the Light. The Light exposes my vessels, and I demand for it to correct them. Then, the Light fills them.

Thus, step by step, a person comes to correction.

Physically, I Am In The Group. What About My Soul?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is it true that we can become aware of evil only after the Machsom (barrier to spirituality)? What can I do until then?

Answer: Every degree has its measurement, its standards, and its criteria. Identically, I had different views of myself at the age of four, five, six, or seven.

Even now, I have a possibility to recognize evil. Physically, I am present in the group, but am I there with my soul? No, I am not. What will this state lead me to? What will happen to me? I cannot reach spirituality like this. It’s too bad. I feel sorry for lost time, a wasted life, from which I did not gain anything.

Then, I start hating what prevents me from connecting with the friends: my difference from them. Of course, all this occurs in egoism, in the receiving desire that wants to obtain spirituality so as to not miss anything in life. However, this puts me in the correct egoistic condition of Lo Lishma (for oneself), and then the influence of the Light turns it into the altruistic state of Lishma (for the sake of the Creator).

Anyway, shame is present here as well. First, I am ashamed of the possibility of being caught for theft, then I notice that it is not worthwhile stealing, at least not always. As a result, I change internally so that I do not want anything from anybody. All I want is to bestow. This is my aspiration, and I am happy with it.

Wonderfully, this is Lo Lishma, and the will to bestow, the act of bestowal, is already embedded in it. Although, there is compensation: a good feeling. In this way, we connect with good and do not demand anything for the time being.

At the next stage, the Light Reforms a person even without his awareness, and he really connects with to the Good Who does Good. Thus first, I connect with good that makes me feel good, and then, I switch to real bestowal to the Creator.
