Catching The Right Wave

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhat device can help me connect to the carrier wave that comes from the Creator? Should I sensitize my “antenna” to His transmitter?

Connecting to the Creator’s frequency can be done only through the group. Without the group, I will have no contact with His wavelength of bestowal. I have to place myself within the correct range of frequencies. This can only be found among friends in the group where this carrier wave is transmitted. As soon as I step out of the range of the group, I stop receiving any waves; the same occurs in the corporeal world when I step out of the zone of my cell phone’s signal reception.

What is the Creator transmitting to me at this frequency? He sends me fulfillment of my soul. There is a main carrier wave (the frequency of bestowal) which is necessary solely for me to attain similarity to the Creator. Attached to the main wave length is a minor wave which carries the fulfillment of my soul; it is a signal that brings me intelligence and perception, an understanding of His plan, as well as the skill and the strength to carry out His intention.

I need two frequencies in order to attain bestowal followed by fulfillment, a pipe within a pipe, both the Light of Hassadim and the Light of Hochma. If only one Light came in, it would annul my will to receive. But if I yearn solely for bestowal, the Creator can fill me without limitation. Only under this condition can a spiritual vessel open for infinite reception of Light.

The carrier wave is the Light of Hassadim; the accompanying wave (the “valid signal”) is the Light of Hochma. The transmission range is provided by the group. If I step out of it, I will stop receiving spiritual frequencies because I alone cannot tune into bestowal, try as I might. I must enter the place where such bestowal resides.

The Creator’s Radio Station

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn order to attune myself to the Creator’s wavelength, I need to adjust my “diapason” (the compass of my instrument) – the degree of bestowal (screen). I attune my desire to enjoy to bestowal, and depending upon this desire, I catch different “radio stations” from the Creator.

I change the frequency of the wavelength, and switch from one level (Aviut) of the desire to another, and based upon this I perceive different influences of the Creator. How can I know that I attuned myself correctly? I know this by the reaction. If I “caught” a wave from Him and received something, this means that I attuned myself to bestowal.

If only I could see in which direction to turn the knob on the radio’s tuner in order to draw closer to and more clearly tune in to one of His channels. If only it were marked like on a radio. But there are no such labels in the spiritual world. Although, if we reach a state where we are able to adjust our tuning, then the soul begins to teach us.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 13

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhy Did the Creator Place the Burden of Creation Upon Us?

Questions about the post  Kabbalists On The Purpose of Creation, Part 12

A question I received: Quote: “Their completion [attained by themselves] would be their [merited] reward, resulting from their efforts to attain Him. And all that [evil created by the Creator and the opportunity to turn it into good] only serving His desire to do complete goodness [to the creatures].” Suppose we try to visualize the relationship between us (created beings) and the Creator. What does it most resemble: the relationship between a son and a father, parents and children, a husband and a wife, friends, or is it a completely different relationship? Is it even worth imagining at all?

My Answer: We can’t help imagining our relationship with the Creator because we are studying the wisdom of Kabbalah that reveals the Creator to us. But until we start perceiving Him directly, like everything in this world, we should visualize him as a kind but strict Father.

The World Of Infinity – Here And Now!

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhen we read The Book of Zohar, we need to remember that we exist in two states simultaneously:

1. the true state which we do not feel, and

2. our imaginary world, where we exist in imaginary pictures without any awareness of the true world.

As we read The Book of Zohar, we exert effort in order to rouse the influence of forces from the perfect state. These forces influence us to the extent that we exert the effort to become similar to this state in the relationships between us.

Therefore, the relationship that we need to create in the group should be of “one man with one heart,” like in the perfect state. This is possible only by drawing the same forces.

As we return from the “foggy” state to the corrected one, we do not lose our present state; the contrast between them reveals to us the perfection of the state created by the Creator 620 times greater than when we were situated there prior to descending to our world.

We return to this state of a human being who is equal to the Creator. Therefore, we need to feel the World of Infinity from our world in particular, as it is written: “We will eat what has long been laid in store for us” and “Darkness will shine like Light.”

We need to reach complete correction in this world to attain the same kind of relationship between us here as in the World of Infinity, which is filled with love. Therefore, we must perform exercises of “love your neighbor as yourself,” “as one man with one heart,” in the connection between us. Then, the Light of Infinity, the Creator, will be revealed in us here, as it is written: “His desire is to be revealed in the lower ones."

Climbing Up The Ladder Of The Creator’s Thoughts

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe entire descent and dispersion of the Light from Above downward is intended to reveal the intentions, which are the heads (Roshim) of spiritual actions (Partzufim). These heads of the Partzufim are the Creator’s thoughts. In essence, they comprise the chain that spans from the World of Infinity down to this world.

Following all the actions, after the Light descends from Above downward, the heads of the spiritual Partzufim remain together with the Reshimot (information records). Here is where we can independently use these actions to connect to the heads of the spiritual Partzufim to bring about our ascent.

And The Lord Appeared To Him By The Oaks Of Mamre

Dr. Michael LaitmanRabash, “And The Lord Appeared To Him By The Oaks Of Mamre”: He asks, why the oaks of Mamre and not in some other place? And he replies, it is because Mamre gave him an advice about his circumcision. When the Creator told Abraham to circumcise himself, Abraham went to seek advice from his friends. …

Mamre told him, “Remember the day that the Chaldeans threw you in the furnace, and that famine that the world experienced … and those kings that your men chased, which you struck, and from whom the Creator saved you and no one could harm you. Rise up and do as your Master commands.”

Every person is a small world, and just like an element of a holographic picture, each contains all the qualities of the world. The only difference is that for every individual, these qualities exist within us in different combinations.

Malchut of the World of Infinity split into a multitude of parts (souls);  every part contains all the qualities, but with some desires of the soul presented more strongly and some weaker. The first correction of egoism lies in cutting off all the desires to receive pleasure for oneself. This action is called a covenant with the Creator (in goal) or circumcision (in action). In other words, in order to ascend to the quality of bestowal (the degree of Bina), man performs a circumcision of his desires to receive, separating them from the desires to bestow.

Man is governed by three souls: animate, intelligent, and guiding. One governs him through his feelings, one through his mind, and the third weighs which direction he ought to strive to. These souls animate us, and everything depends on which of them prevails. In the end, we have to make use of all the forces at our disposal, regardless of which makes the decisions and which governs the rest of our properties.

As every person passes through the stages of the ego’s correction, he checks whether his “body” (desires) is prepared to make the decision to join the degree of Bina (bestowal). That is when he acquires a Kli, a spiritual vessel, the desires of bestowal, and performs the correction of “circumcision” cutting off, as it were, the egoistic desires from himself.

He sees that his other desires do not agree with the Creator. He has no strength to correct them, but he is strong enough to cut them off (as it is written, “from the edge of one’s heart”). Afterward, at subsequent degrees, he will even be able to correct them so that they would willingly join the actions of bestowal and help him ascend even higher.

This force or property called Mamre, which man finds within himself, is his preparation (friend) that helps him achieve the property of bestowal.

Full-Fledged Participants In The Upper World

Dr. Michael LaitmanA question I received: If the Creator is a closed system of nature with firm unchanging laws and man exists inside this system, then how can he change anything in it?

My Answer: This is an incorrect assumption. Man does not change anything in this system. Heaven forbid we were able to change the Upper system of nature! We would end up corrupting it just as we do our own lives. Therefore, we are given a very limited part of the total reality. This narrow scope is merely a black point known as our corporeal world, and look at what we’ve done with it! So how do you intend to govern the Upper system? We should be grateful that we’re not permitted to change it.

However, to the degree that we become similar to the Creator, we will exit our narrow, black enclave and become full-fledged participants in the Upper World. If we acquire the strength to follow the same laws and actions as the Creator, He then will hand the power over to us. There won’t be any division of power between us for His purpose is our adhesion with Him, meaning our complete equivalence to Him.

Kabbalists On The Purpose Of Creation, Part 14

Dr. Michael LaitmanDear Friends, please ask questions about these passages from the great Kabbalists. I promise to answer them. Commentaries in brackets are mine.

Why Did the Creator Place the Burden of Creation Upon Us?

The primary foundation upon which this entire construction stands is His Supreme desire for man to complete himself along with all that was created for him, and that itself [perfection that he himself attains] would be his merit and reward. Merit – since he engages and toils in order to reach this completion, and when it is attained he will enjoy the fruits of his own efforts and his part of his own work. Reward – since he will finally be complete and will sense pleasure in its goodness for all of eternity [reaches liberation from death].
– Ramchal, Da’at Tvunot (Knowledge of Wisdom), Item 14

“If the purpose of the creation of the worlds is to delight His creatures, then why did He create this corporeal, turbid and tormented world? Without it, He could certainly delight the souls as much as He wanted; why did He bring the soul into such a foul and filthy body [egoistic desires]?”

They explained it with the verse, “One who eats that which is not one’s own, is afraid to look upon one’s face.” It means there is a flaw of shame in any free gift. In order to spare the souls this blemish, He has created this world [such a state, sensation], where there is work. They will therefore enjoy their labor, for they take their pay from the Whole, in return for their work, and are thus spared the blemish of shame.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 12

Dr. Michael LaitmanWhat is the Purpose of Creation?

Questions about the post
“Kabbalists On The Purpose Of Creation,” Part 8

Question: Quote: “To correct all of the deficiencies of creation.” What are these deficiencies of creation? Didn’t the Creator create everything in perfection? How can imperfections derive from the Perfect One?

My Answer: The concealment of the Creator gives us an opportunity to complete what is hidden. In other words, to become like Him, revealing Him solely to take an example of what we should be like.

Question: Quoting Baal HaSulam: "All the souls and worlds that were destined to be created, emerged filled with all the delight and pleasure and the gentleness He had planned for them, in the final perfection that the souls were intended to receive at the end of correction.” If everything is already perfect and exists in its corrected state, then where do we and the distorted picture of the world that we see come from?

My Answer: It is the result of the Creator’s concealment relative to us, which is given to us as an opportunity to complete ourselves.

The Program Of Creation

Dr. Michael LaitmanTo carry out the goal of creation means to become similar and equal to the Creator. That is His program in relation to us because this is the best, perfect state. However, in order to become equal to Him, we have to acquire a desire equal to His.

The Creator created a point of desire and then fulfills it with His attitude, Light, all the pleasures, and love for creation. He exhibits two ways of relating to creation: The Light of Hochma and the Light of Hassadim. This causes the desire to become enormous, the World of Infinity. Our task is to add our own attitude to this desire, where our attitude is opposite to the Creator. To help us to this, the Creator places a point of bestowal into the desire He created, in order for us to develop it with our efforts. Thus, we develop our attitude to Him until it reaches the size of His attitude to us. We increase it by 620 times.

It is impossible to make this change all at once. It can only be done gradually, step by step, by making small changes. The path is paved with descents and ascents because on one hand creation must remain empty and desire fulfillment, and on the other hand it must cleave to the Creator above the empty desire and become equal to Him. This is why there are always two opposite states combined inside creation.

There are two kinds of Light: Direct and Reflected. The Creator wants us to relate to Him in the Reflected Light the same way He relates to us in the Direct Light, and thus to become the same as Him. However, for Him bestowal is His desire and His nature, whereas for us, bestowal is the intention to bestow while desiring to receive for His sake.

Therefore, we can be opposite to Him by having opposite desires, but equal to Him by having the same intentions – the intention of bestowal and love. If I address Him with my desire, then I am opposite to Him. If I address Him with my intention, then I am the same as He. That is why I always fall in my relationship with Him due to the difference of our desires, and then I ascend due to the similarity of our intentions. When my desire increases, I become opposite to the Creator, but when I correct my desire to receive through the intention to bestow, I become equal to Him.

Thus, I always oscillate between these two axes, and the most important thing is for my "self" to remain in the middle, in the middle line. I have to acquire the greatest desire to receive, which is opposite to the Creator, and then accordingly attach the intention to bestow to it. That is how I create the middle line: to receive for the sake of bestowing to Him, or for His sake. Through equivalence to Him, I will cleave to Him.

If I don’t care about how I experience my state, good or bad, and the most important thing for me is to remain in the intention of attaining the greatest possible similarity to the Creator, then I am in the middle line.
